I guess I'll start this month off. 1977 Caprice Classic sedan in light green, perfect condition, driven in traffic yesterday. I remember how excited I was in the autumn of 1976, (I was 12 years old and a complete car FREAK) to see the brand new, smaller and very good looking GM B, C and D-bodies hit the streets. First one I saw on the road back then... was a yellow Electra 225 with tan vinyl top. I think I freaked my grandparents out with my hoops and hollers that day.

Obama administration defense officials said the incident Sunday followed several days of "increasingly aggressive" acts by Chinese ships in the region. U.S. officials said a protest was to be delivered to Beijing's military attache at a Pentagon meeting Monday. The USNS Impeccable sprayed one ship with water from fire hoses to force it away. So as you may or may not know, I haven't owned a car in over a year. I've been sharing my boyfriend's CRV. I've never been a big fan, but it saves money and we almost never have a conflict on when we need wheels. Over the past year I've kinda just gotten used to it. It's inoffensive in every way. Today the BF needed the CRV to go one place and I needed to go do construction work so I rented a Toyota Tacoma for 6 hours from Zipcar. Let me tell you... when a very base, 4-cylinder, rental Tacoma feels positively CTS-like, your daily driver sucks. The Tacoma is slow, has more body roll than a '76 LeSabre with bad shocks, and feels like a Camry inside, but it's RWD and h…

Somebody is suing ipod, alleging that the product is inherently defective because if used as intended it can cause permanent hearing loss. If you don't care about your hearing read no further. Otherwise, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if one spends all day with an amplified source blaring high sound levels into the ear (or ears) from a headset, audiophile headphones, bluetooth, etc. that will cause gradual, permanent hearing loss. Add that to all the other noise everybody is subjected to. Think it over.

That second, I looked down at her backpack on the floor and noticed (with what must have been an audible gasp) a button pinned to it. "Is that Edward Scissorhands?" The photos show the car exactly as it was after the crash (there was no cutting of moving of the vehicle done by the emergency response team). The driver called emergency services on his cellphone and got out unaided. The driver had only minor scratches, and after a couple of hours in hospital, came out with only a bandage on his little finger. And for the understatement of the day, "The police believe that excessive speed was a contributory factor in the accident".

Friend in car said close, but didn't think I was that close...or someone just hit me. Hard to tell from how it actually looked & where I was. Rag, quick detail spray, scratch remover, touch up paint for 2 chips, gone. Still weird being under the bumper edge mostly...I think someone hit me in the lot. Rear camera alert...love it. Then today...my mother out driving back from X-rays in her Camaro "ran off the road a littl…

More idle blather from my 'commuting home' brain... An average motorist (let's call him 'Randy'), not particularly an 'enthusiast', has a choice of two to make for his new midsize sedan. Nearly everything else is equal and the prices are right. But one is advertised and in fact has a high-revving 6-cylinder with a redline of 8000. The other is a torquey 6 with a redline of 5500. Since our man Randy is a bleeding heart ecologist, he asks himself: Given the same owner, roads traveled and driving techniques, would the car that requires on average 1500 more RPM to deliver the same level of performance... that extra RPM would have to in …

So, what do you think of it? IMO, it's rather tasteful. It's not over-excessive nor considerably rice. Looks good. I think I'm going to try this with my GA. The result will be different, mainly because of the black bars. I just need the know how, a new leftside, and some colored bulbs... Also, I thought this was an awesome photo... :D

I'm talking to a friend's brother today about cars and he's like "WTF is drifting?" So I explained the basics and said I'd emial him some cool video footage except I can't find too many good ones. I posted a great one on the old forum (pre-August-crash) it was off of BigBoys.com (now Break.com) but since our old Forum is inaccessible I'm wondering if you guys can post some good links in this thread. Here's a decent one: http://www.dumpalink.com/media/1132567542/..._Drifting_Video except it's all choppy and keeps "getting stuck" on my old POS machine. Thanks in advance.

I grew up in this kaleidoscopic multi-ethnic city, so my friend's parents, people in high school/college and neighbors provided fuel for the fire. Here's my list: Cuban - this is Ricky Ricardo talk, this is NOT a Mexican accent. I love it. It's my favorite. Iranian-Middle Eastern - perfected from LA experiences - make damn sure you leave out articles in front of nouns whenever possible. I once asked this Middle Eastern guy at a party where he was from. His response: "I leev een Bay Area." I had meant which country he came from, but that's ok. I can't drive through Concord on 680 without muttering that to myself. Southern - it's great and it can be so affected. …

If I could find a 93-98 with lower miles in could shape, I think the wagon would be gone in a second.... Has there been a car just surprised you? (good or bad)

So... I've been interviewing for a teaching position starting next year since when I graduated, budgets failed and there were no permanent Italian positions available on the Island. I was fortunate and got several interviews relatively quickly, and one district has been working fast (not common for schools on Long Island), and the procedure has been quick. I have my 5th interview tomorrow (yes, on Long Island, this is normal), with this one district. You have to first interview with a committee, then do a demo lesson, then interview with the chairperson of the department, then an assistant principal, then interview with a principal, then with the superintendent, an…

  79. I just called them now trying to add a mailing address because I don't want my mail to go to my current residence address, where there is a shared mailbox and I'm worried people might open my mail and stuff. They insisted that I can only have one residential and mailing address, and if I change it to my friend's Markham mailing address the policy address will have to change and apparently rate group as well. Markham is way higher than Waterloo. So they did, but they kept Waterloo as the rating territory. And they went on with all the bullcrap about this and that and how we're not going to cover you if anything happens and your drivers license address is this and that... …

And it is not just a bits of rust (like those who never. ever wash the car ) This rusting is everywhere-doors, hood, hatch, front doors, sliding doors.... Now I expect this out of the older cars (80s, early 90s), but some of these vans are barely 10 years old. A good griend of my mom has a 03 Caravan-and the sliding door alreay has a decent amount of rust on it. Makes me sad. I was actually considering a SB caravan to replace the wagon ( More room for friends/family hockey stuff)... Hmmm...Do you guys notice t…

  97. I caught myself doing this more and more lately, actually being somewhat aggressive in my attempts to keep the foreign car drivers at the curb as I go past. I have even slowed down when there would have been plenty of room behind me for the guy waiting on the side to merge into traffic, but decided his Prius or Tundra could wait for the next guy to go by. Yeah, I am a child, I know. (by the way, if it is a matter of safety for the person on the side of the road, I always let them in, even I am not that uncool - even if the car they are driving is!) On the contrary, if there is a hot Domestic that might have the room to get in if I speed up, I do to allow them in. Ju…
