I had to drive out to Lansing earlier and for some reason or another I got to thinking about a project I mentioned last year sometime. Say one day I do decide to restore a C3. However, I decide that I want an LS1 and T56 in it. How do people do this? Do you put an OBDII system in the C3? Do you somehow remove the OBDII and sensors from the LS1 and trans? I'm sure there are threads on a Corvette forum on this exact swap, but I'm curious how they would do that... go from old school with no electronics to new(er) school with wires up the wazoo.

I can't complain after 15 years and almost a quarter of a million miles. From another thread, I have to get either a tie rod or a front wheel bearing assembly fixed...but that can wait until early next week. Now, I evidently have a sensor problem. For a while now, the SES light came and went intermittently and the only noticeable problem was a surge right after shifting into OD (4th) at relatively low rpms (1600 or so) and, right after shifting, if the engine is put under load. It was sort of a flat spot. Now the SES light is on "full time." Upon start-up, the 3800 revs up a little more than usual, idling is rough and the tach seems to wander (better with A/C on, whi…

The new 'Sport' model comes with the 6 speed and 3.6L which would be a nice increase in power for an older 'Nox' or Torrent. I've been unable to locate pictures of the motor to ascertain the mount placement, exhaust routing..... to see if it's fesible. Any thoughts since the body is great but I've got 160,000kms(100k miles) and she'll need a freshening up.

I plan to replace my old muffler with a new exhaust kit on my 2009 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab. I am torn between a Flowmaster and a Magnaflow. What should I go for?

Im looking into putting a new exhaust system on my truck, a 2017 Z71 5.3. As of now I have my old Flowmaster 40 SI/DO muffler dumped right before the read axle. I did this just to get a louder tone from the stock muffler. Well after driving it for a week now I've come to not like it at all. I have been looking at videos on youtube and reading around on different forums looking for a good setup in my price range, hopefully no more than $500, that I like. The sound I am wanting is a deep growl, not extremly loud but a deep tone. Nothing that pops when I rev high. Just a nice and deep at low RPMs and at higher RPMs gives a good throaty sound. Thanks in advance and I hope thi…

So today I decided to finally swap and rewire stereos in the Prizm. The Pioneer unit in there actually has good sound adjustments but has a $h!ty, almost unreadable display and it's a cassette player. The Sony XPLOD is a cd player that can read CD/RWs too as well as having an AUX jack. With help from my friend we got it wired up..although I'm disappointed with sound quality...the bass is almost nonexistent. if I ever buy an aftermarket stereo I'll go for Pioneer. But that's not what this thread is about. While I had the hood up to disconnect the battery, my friend noticed that the exhaust manifold had a crack in it. Oh goodie. Apparently this is a commo…

My 1985 Riviera has the odyssey II econo vent that was factory installed. Can you just cut the liner and spray that liner adhesive in there or is it harder than that? I was think of removing the light on the top and cutting the hole ther and spray that stuff in then level it and put the exces material under the light and call it done. Does that sound right? Or is there another way? Advice Please?

Hi there, I have a 1998 Lumina LTZ with 134,000 miles. I get the oil changes about every 3-6k miles, usually closer to 6 than 3. I have a dummy "change oil soon" light that comes on pretty much every time I start the car - even the day I get the oil changed. It's stays on for a couple a minutes and then goes off. The guy at the shop said the sensor measures the oil viscosity - so if it is brand new oil what is the problem? Is this just a faulty sensor on a old car? Anything I can do about it? Also, is there a quick fix for rusty rotors? I got my brakes done fairly recently but they are a bit rusty and squeak, wondering if there is something simple I can do. Thanks

Almost Thought She was PERFECT Anyway.. For the last coupla days I'd been hearing what I was thinking was a "roaring" issue or even a drone of sorts coming from the driver side rear area. So. yesterday did a careful inspection of the tires.. wheel.. brakes.. and then decided to make a few calls. Talk to my Corvette guy at the dealership.. then to a guy I kno who works at Merchants Auto.. then of course my dad.. and all unanimously said "WHEEL BEARINGS." OK.. I am at 57K on the ODO (purchased in July 2013, traded in Taja my '11 Camaro RS 3.6L).. and drive her like she's the Vette all day.. every day that I drive her. 1) Checked to see if under Drive-train (5/…

A buddy of mine is trying to get me to switch my brand of oil...and he is trying to tell me it is the same exact oil. He's driving me crazy! The wife's sedan currently runs on Mobil 1 Full syn oil, which I love. My buddy wants me to switch to the Wal-Mart brand, which is much cheaper. I pay 24 bucks or so for a 5qt of Mobil 1. Wal-Mart's brand is 14 bucks for a 5qt. Now, he is trying to tell me the Mobil makes Wal-Mart's brand, which I disagree with. From what I know, Quaker State/Penzoil makes all of Wal-marts oils..... Now I do agree with him in the fact that they all offer great protection, but It would be hard to make a switch when the Mobil works s…

As you guys know, I'm replacing the rear in the '92 Blazer. The trouble is that it is a G80 locking rear and the debate over synthetic/dino oil and additive/no addititve is all over the place. After reading a zillion different forums, and talking to my friend at the Chevy place, I am no closer to a definitive answer on this. G80 is a build code RPO and seems to mean different things in different years and on different vehicles. So I need a definitive answer on a '97 Tahoe G80 (the donor car my new rear is from). Anyone have a manual for that year?

Anyone ever try adding pure acetone into their gas? Two to three ounces per 10 gallons is supposed to increase mpg, improve combustion and performance without harming the engine or seals. It makes sense on the surface but am still a wee bit skeptical. (No, I'm not Scottish.) I understand that oil companies can make better blends that would benefit economy. Adding acetone is also supposed to burn cleaner and eliminate blackened tailpipes. As far as efficiency is concerned it makes you wonder why they add ethanol in some pumps because it doesn't exactly aid combustion Anyway, I'm not an expert on this and not one to buy into this $h! just becau…

I drive down the Hamilton Escarpment fairly regularly at night, without many people around, on the 403. It's a fairly steep (for an expressway) 2km long downhill. Just out of curiosity, which of the following would use less fuel? Situation 1 - Start at 120 km/h at top - Push in clutch, let car idle to bottom where it would be at about 100 km/h - Accelerate back up to 120 km/h gently Situation 2 - Start at 120 km/h at top - Leave in 5th, take foot off gas, going about 85 km/h at bottom - Accelerate back up to 120 km/h gently I usually just leave my cruise on, because I don't want to slow down just to save a little fuel. On a side note, I found out that …

i know someone else that's had this problem... i guessing it's happened " a lot" my gauge only can work sitting still. it's usually full , but letting it sit on hills it will read correctly, or sometimes sitting still ie, at a light, it will correct itself, slowly. shifting to nuetral will make the needle move quickly if it was working just seconds before, if it stays in gear it moves much slower. my friend had a GP that did this swapped out the sending unit/pump and didn't solve it... so it's probably a ground issue somewhere. has anyone heard anything about this, a common place to find the problem? it's been like this for a few years now... so i'm used to it…

Do you routinely use a fuel injector cleaner or fuel system additive? I do. I add a bottle to the tank about every 5,000 miles, in addition to using the better detergent gasoline brands. Which ones do you use, like, and/or know have a good reputation? I've heard Techron is the best. Others mention brands like Lucas and Seafoam. I don't know much about these, so I don't use them. I have also used STP and Valvoline fuel system cleaner. You need to read the label on the Techron bottle. The one that is nicely priced only treats 12 gallons of gasoline. The one in the larger plastic bottle treats up to 21 gallons. My tank holds about 17 gallons. Any…

My wife purchased a 2003 Envoy brand new and it has always had problems with overflowing at the gas pump. It doesn't happen all the time, so I can't seem to figure out if it is just the position of the pump spout, or a defect part. We haven't mentioned it to the dealership yet, but my sister-in-law has the same vehicle(SLT vs. SLE is only difference), and experiences the same problem. I believe she has spoken to the service department about it, but can't recall what they responded. Its rather annoying since the gas spills all over the paint and the smell all over our hands/clothes. Anyone else notice this with their Envoys and does anyone know why it does this/how…

Got A 2.2L 1997 Cavalier, and I'm getting this intermittent "clip, clip, clop" (sorta like horse hooves on cobblestone) sound coming from somewhere in the front right of the car sometimes between 40&60KPH... I think it's coming from the suspension, but I'm not sure, but it only goes through one sequence of the above sound, goes away for a few hours, and then happens again... I don't think it's the pavement I'm driving on, but I'm concerned about what it might be and if it might pose a safety risk further down the road. Any Insight??

I know I read somewhere about computerized transmissions that incorporated some degree of 'learning' capability, where periods of consistent driving styles (say; aggressive throttle) could move shift points to a degree. I had thought this was told to me WRT my '94 Ford's EOA trans, but that certainly could be wrong. Reason I am wondering is, lately I have been driving my wife ex-'03 GP 3.1L about once a week. In that gas is cheaper and it gets about 23, whereas my diesel 2500HD gets around 16, it's decent for whipping around/ taxi-ing. I don't think she's driven it since she got her Malibu in Aug of '09; it's been me 97% of the time (my son the other 3%... maybe). I'…

As you may know, my engine conversion went well besides the junk radiator nearly destroying everything. Managed to get the gunk out of the oil, it checks clear every time now. However it's still in the cooling system. The day it happened a garden hose was used for 2 hours to get it out, but while a lot it out, there's still goop showing up. Is there a cleaner to get this out? Or can a shop get it out? Monday I may just take it down and see, but preemptive advice would be appreciated. Once this is taken care of and I replace the plenum, I should be all set, but it just sucks that a $h!ty radiator caused this unnecessary mess. Next time I'm buying …

Does anyone know where one my buy the male GM speaker plugs (the ones on the speaker)? When I install aftermarket speakers, I prefer to wire these onto the new speakers, rather than chop up the door harness and/or make the speaker permanently attached to the door. To the best of my knowledge, GM has used the same plug setup for years, but I am tired of cutting them off blown speakers at the junkyard when I need them.

I've got the GM 4T65-E transaxle in my LaCrosse. Whether on this car or my last car (4T60 transaxle), I've never had a transmission flush, where they leave the pan/gasket/filter alone. I've always had them drain and refill the transmission, and have them change the filter and check the pan and gasket in the process. I am aware that that leaves some old fluid in the torque converter. However, an old school GM advisor told me that doing "drain and fill" with the pan and gasket dropped every couple of years - 25,000 or 30,000 miles - is as good as doing the full flush with the machine less often. He said the "drain and fill" is easier on the transmission. …

Okay all of you mechanically-inclined and talented posters, I've got a question for you. My wife's car is around 13k and we're approaching 11 months of ownership. I've been reading here and there articles or statements saying that GM's Dexcool Coolant is known to cause problems for radiators and engine parts (plastics, I think). Some sources have suggested removing the orange Dexcool coolant and replacing it with the traditional green coolant. If today's (or should I say 2008's) Dexcool coolant is not good for longevity, and since we plan on owning this car for quite some time (7 years maybe?), I was wondering if I should go ahead and get this done now. If so, what i…

Hey guys, I need some help from the resident experts! I'm trying to gather info on a potential cylinder head swap taking the GMC Acadia's higher-flowing cylinder heads and using them in a 2007 G6 GTP. They will be ported also. What I really need is info on the differences between the two engines, whether it is just the heads and gaskets I need to replace, or whether there are differences in valves/manifolds that will send the price of this swap skyrocketing more than it already is. I'm hoping I just need to put the new heads and gaskets in and the rest will be compatible, that is what the small amount of info I have been able to gather thus far is saying. What I could r…

Hi All, I was wondering what you guys think about the 6.2 gasoline running a true Dual exhaust. It appears to me that on first glance my 6.2 already has dual catylitic converters and I would like to help it breath better by changing the single exhaust to a true dual. Sound and HP are not my number one goal. I will get that if it breaths better. I am installing a Volant air induction with the new Donaldson Power Core filter that uses the newer Nano-filter technology and is said(by Donaldson) to be 99.8 efficent. Cleaner in hopefully less wear. I have already started the transition to synthetic oil and will run a bypass system soon too, with oil analysis included for oil fi…

I have to move the '69 Firebird. It has a fairly worn Chevy 350. About six years ago I last attempted to start it and was unsuccessful. At that time it had sat for about 2 years. Now it hasn't been attempted to start in about 6 years. I checked my fluids, poured some gas in the carb and put a battery on it, and even with a good battery, I'm getting nowhere. The engine does turn over... slowly... but it sounds nasty... a deep, dry, grinding. Normally, I would panic, but I recall a different, worn, engine which sounded similar (father's worn 350 Chevy Cubevan) until I got enough juice into the starter... at which point it fired up and ran. Is this grinding the be…

Well, I encountered two problems today in the GTO. First, as I was driving along on the Interstate, a rock flew up and left a very, very small chip on the windshield. It's probably an eighth of an inch in diameter, and it's only on the outside. So, my question is, how easily can it be fixed? The second problem is a little more serious (potentially) and I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, but it's something in the rear end - probably the tires. I heard a slight "hiss" coming from the rear when I was driving, and I thought maybe it was some electrical problem and the speakers were making it (the stereo was off). However, I rode in the back of the car and decided i…

I have never owned or ridden in a flat engined vehicle but have found myself very intrigued recently by them, both the Porche flat 6s, Corvair flat 6's, and also the Subaru 3.0 and 3.3 flat 6's. Has anyone ever made a flat 4, a flat 6 with 2 cylinders chopped off? Would this design not be as or more stable than an I4 or a boxer 4 (like the Subaru 4's)? What about flat 8s, they sound like they would be very well balanced and be as low as flat 6's and they would have more area of combustion? Would not a flat 4/6/8 engine architecture be the most cost/engineering effective series of engines to build and package? Why aren't/haven't there been more out of the V (play o…

About two months ago I had taken my fog light out to clean it out and to really get to it the headlight cluster has to come out. So I had taken just the driver's side headlight and foglight out and put the headlight back in no problem. I had driven it for a good two weeks and the aim was straight on. Well when I had put the fog light back in and put everything back together the headlight aim was about a foot lower than it should be. So I drove the Cobalt out this morning to run some errands for my Grandmother and all was well with the car, then this evening I ran out to get some pizza and as I pulled onto the expressway the car started shaking badly above about 60kph (40mph for the Yanks). Hey folks. Need some help with electrical issues on the Buick. Tonight, I lost low beam lighting on one side. Not only that, the backlighting for the light switches, at the left of the dash, went dark, too. Within the last month, I lost 1 low beam light, the most used one on the D.I.C., and I noticed the console lamp was also out. Coincidence or connected? (Considering the age of the vehicle and/or the sequential nature.) I looked at the owner's manual. There's a fuse center at the right side of the dash, but not for my issues. For those, the (mini) fuses are located in a plastic box under the hood. I'm wondering if fuse replacement is the place…

Even the base 92 Regal coupe has the dashboard lights that stay on for 30 seconds after you shut the doors. Tonight, after going into Borders for an hour, I noticed the dash lights were still on when I got back to the parked car. When I got home, they failed to go off after 30 seconds. I fiddled with various controls to no avail. Come to think of it, about 2 months ago, driving through a forested area in the middle of the day, the dash lights came on and I DO NOT have the twilight sentinel option, so no automatic lights (it's a 92), but this never happened again until tonight. I have to get to work tomorrow, so I pulled the fuse and it's a temporary fix. HELP…

Hey all, I was looking to buy some cheapy stealies for my 2001 Saab 9-5 for winter tires. Now I change from summer to winter tires on the same rim, incurring a rebalancing and mounting fee each time. This year I decided to buy some dedicated wheels for the winter tires, but I have had trouble finding reliable information about them. My car (according to TireRack.com) has 16x6.5" wheels, but the key is the bolt pattern: 5-110. I was looking at buying steel rims off a Volvo on Craigslist, but (again according to TireRack) the bolt pattern is 5-108. The question is this: can these wheels be installed on my car? Thanks!

Not even a month out of a 500$ Water Pump job, now the following things have gone wrong with my car... -Wiper Arm broke off in my hands under gentle application ( ) -Gas Gauge stuck at full, will no longer move. -Radio Dead due to wiring issue (loose Connection?) under driver's side floor -ABS Light going on and off depending on where my left foot is. -Radio Sometimes Works depending on where my left foot is. So to sum things up, I'm going back to the dealer for another service appt (double ), I've got no tunes, sometimes no ABS, Limit…

Okay, so it's no secret that my ass is quite lazy. Remember that miss at idle? I never did attempt to fix it. It only did it during idle and it never gave me any problems since... until now, that is. It now misses while there's a heavy load on the engine, especially in lower RPMs during acceleration. Going up hills will just kill it, as it will begin to miss and cause it to be nearly powerless with a bit of shaking. Luckily, I'm able to shift down by the push of a button without accelerating and avoid bogging down. One thing I just recently noticed (never thought about it before, stupid me) is that it will only miss once the engine is up to operating temperature. Now, I r…

Okay, so here's the deal. I run a Holley 600 on one of my Camaros. Every week or so this winter I would go out and idle the car to keep everything in good shape, but the car hasn't been "on the road" in a year or so. I got it out the other day, everything seemed fine, and changed the plugs. With the new plugs in I fired it up and it purred like a kitten. I put it in gear and tried to make it to the gas station but ran out of fuel at the bottom of my drive. After adding about 3 gallons of fuel, the car started this thing where it wouldn't idle. I figured it had just sucked something up into the carb or fuel filter. So, for good measure, I added some fuel system cleaner…

So, on the Cutlass, I notice that it idles faster than what I would think it should. Having no tach, I can't be sure, but it sounds like it's idling between 1.5k and 2k RPMs. As well, when you shut it off, it continues to try to run. I've read that a fast idle can cause that. Does anyone know how the idle can be adjusted? Or any other causes for it to continue to run like that? Any help is appreciated.

So.. I just bought a pair of SLP Loudmouth IIs for the Stang. That started me thinking about my '73 Camaro. I'm most likely going to try to replace the transmission in it early next year (hopefully my tax refund will be generous) The exhaust is all custom and welded up and that would be a perfect opportunity to put a better system on it. Currently, I'm running Hedman Shorties to 2.5 inch pipes into 3 inch Flowmaster single chamber Delta Flow mufflers (Probably the equivalent to what they call the 10 Series off road mufflers but I can't remember the series number from when I bought them) then reducing to 2 inches for the tail pipes (because at the time, they didn't make t…

Hey guys, I expect to be leaving my Regal parked from mid-June until the beginning of August. I will be out of the country. I will be taking the car up to Portland but, since my Mom doesn't drive, I wouldn't even want her to start it and move it up and back a few feet to get things moving...though maybe a neighbor could do it. Still, it may wind up sitting there. I've heard that leaving them parked for that long can cause some problems. Namely, the battery may fail but more so than that, tires are supposed to get a "flat spot" or something to that effect. Is there any truth to that? What other car components could be adversely affected by being parked for a long …

Since online stories seem to change, I am copy and pasting the instructions here: Uninstall the Copilot app The first thing you should do is uninstall the Copilot app. This is a Windows app and can be uninstalled like any other Windows app. There are a few ways to do this, and we’ll outline two of them. The fast way Hit the Windows Key to open your search and type in Copilot. Right-click the app with your mouse and select Uninstall. A window will pop up asking you to confirm. Do so. The app will be uninstalled. The harder way Open the Settings on your Windows PC. Navigate to Apps and then Installed apps. Find Copilot on your list of insta…

My step-son took his '98 Buick Regal LS with the 3.8L Series II V6 to the local Oil Change/Car Wash place because his low coolant light kept coming on. They flushed his engine with the pressure machine, put in new coolant, and replaced his "rusty" fuel filter. He left the place and the car was shaking like it wanted to stall out - the Service Engine Soon light was flashing, he said. I told him to meet me at the local Advance Auto Parts store so they could do a free OBDII code read. He got code P0300 - random multiple misfire (they said it would need to go to a mechanic). Tried to restart the car and it wouldn't crank over. Pushed it into a parking spot and left it t…

I have a 96 Lumina with 181,000 miles on it. Since last summer when I left the car idling for 30 minutes plus I have had this annoying problem where after you run it til it is warmed up and shut it off for 20 minutes to an hour and a half or so it will run horrible.. very rough like it is either flooding or choking itself. If I am fortunate enough to keep it running(while riding the brake and gas pedal at the same time) after a couple of miles it runs fine. If I am not fortunate it will take almost the entire charge of the battery to start if I am lucky. Recently I filled it up with gas at the local gas station just to have it do the same thing but was not able to kee…

OK, now it's warm enough to get to work on this thing. Tell me as much as possible about the idle air control valve. I'm pretty darn sure this what it is, though it's tough to get a reading on it, because a few times it tells me different parts..... I'm replacing the IAC, fuel filter, PCV....... I'm hoping this will stop the rough idle (much worse in warm weather/warming up a while), SUV gas milage (it's back), and the lack of pick-up that it has...and the fact that changing speeds (mostly slowing down) throws the check engine light on.... If this doesn't work, I'm going to assume it might be something worse....

At one point it wouldn't turn at all, now it's back to going to Accessory, but not any further. No idea what's wrong. I used it last night with no problem... Is it possibly due to the cold? Or is the ignition junk and has to be replaced? I hope the former but suspect the latter. v_v

You are looking at a two and a half foot wide piece of plastic "chrome" that has been one of the biggest sources of frustration for me in the last five years. The Coles Notes on my tale of woe: The trim applique on the trunk of my 2007 Impala is attached at the factory using six-eight clips into the trunk lid rather than an adhesive glue. As a result the trim is not fastened with equal pressure across the entire part and it vibrates as you drive or when you close the trunk. Unlike the Impala SS models which have painted/clear coated appliques the chrome on the more pedestrian Impala models have a sharp rather than dull lower edge across the bottom which during said v…

So I found this awesome white '94 Z28 with ~88,000 miles on it, and all I'm waiting for is the finance guys to tell me where to sign. But, I'm a little concerned about fuel economy. I'm going to assume that the MPG on a 12-year-old V8 aren't going to be great, and I can accept that. My question is are there any ways that I can mechanically change the 5.7 (LT1?) that will increase my fuel economy? I've developed a pretty economical driving technique by driving my parents' Tahoe, XC90, and S80 T6 over the years, so I'm looking for something that will help post some worthwhile gains combined with that. Thanks.

After years on driving with my elbow on the center console cover in my Regal, the vinyl now has a dimple/tear about the size of a quarter. Incidentally, it's burgundy colored vinyl. No big deal, but if it's a cheap fix, I'll do it. The console cover comes off so it can be taken somewhere. What's usually involved in something like this? Is it expensive? I know that, when used cars come in, they are accustomed to making these fixes.

We have a 1995 Buick Century with the 3100 V6 (160k), which recently developed a stalling problem. The problem happens when the engine is warm (although I don't know if engine temp has anything to do with it). Irrespective of engine or vehicle speed, the motor simply cuts out. No warning. No hesitation. No stumbling. And then it takes two or three attempts to restart the vehicle, after which, the engine performs flawlessly. There are no codes in the computer, and my mechanic can't find anything. I'm baffled... I'll be away from my PC for most of the weekend, but appreciate any suggestions made in my absence. Thanks for your help!

So the other day I noticed that the Prizm's blower motor kept changing it's speed despite being always set tof ull. It would slowly build up to normal speed, then go back down to a lower speed, then go back up. This would happen over a couple minutes, not like every few seconds. Because it works I'm not that worried...just curious if anyone might know why. Of greater concern is the speedometer, which stopped working a few days ago as well. Then it started working again....then didn't. Tonight on the highway It would work, then drop down to zero, then a few minutes later jump back up to the correct speed. If the unit itself going or could it be something else?

I found a 1992 Cadillac 4.9L PFI V8 to transplant into the $300 Celebrity I bought which just isn't going to run right. Water in the oil, oil in the water, backfiring when cold, damn near impossible to start even with starting fluid, and I'm thinking with a free 200hp engine, why bother messing with the stock motor? The first issue is getting the engine home from 10 miles away. The tailgate is jammed on the Suburban and it won't fit in the doors or through the window. So I'd either need the guy to bring it to me, or else rent a trailer. In either case I need to buy an engine crane, engine stand, jackstands, and a good solid floor jack. Until it doesn't. When Apple launched iOS6 it booted Google Maps from the OS and replaced it with Apple's Homegrown Maps app, which is pretty terrible. How bad you ask? Map detail google iOs 5 vs iMaps iOs 6: To name a few. There's an entire tumblr site dedicated to these glitches. What Apple has done is removed Google Maps and replaced it with something far worse. And there's not an app for that. If it necessarily delays the approval for Google Maps for iOS6 it will be sending a clear message to its customers that it's no longer interesting in providing them with the best possible user experience. Meanwhile, I'll just keep using my Android phone, because i…

Also, what would cause the speed setting on the wipers to change. Like sometimes in the fastest wiper setting, they are imtermittant and vis versa. Turning them off and turning them back usualy does the trick. And finally, my indicators are telling me that my rear window is open when it closed. I think the latch might be loose. Cheap part? This is something I don't think I've ever posted about before, even though it's happened since I bought my Cobalt. Occasionally (I'd say once a week), I hear what has become a very familiar noise from somewhere in the back end of my car. It is exactly five quick 'knock' or 'tap' sounds, about 1/2 a second apart. It literally sounds like somebody knocking on the trunklid - the first couple of times I looked around my car to see who was knocking. It's not loud, as I notice that passengers usually don't pick up on it. I've never noticed any problem stemming from this sound occuring. It's not a problem, but I'm just curious - What could this be?

My G5 came with the standard non-leather wrapped wheel (Cruise Control but no audio controls). I've been thinking about treating myself to a leather wrapped one and wondering what the feasibility would be. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Chevy-Cobalt-Black-Leat...id=p3286.c0.m14 ^^^ I found this Ebay listing that has a leather wheel for the Cobalt/G5 but it's got the stereo controls on it. If I bought that part and had it interchanged with the one I got now would it be easy to wire up the radio buttons to work (ie is it a simple difference from the current factory hookup to as it would be with the Radio buttons installed from the factory)?

Suppose I get one of the cars which cheap, conservative and cautious Trinacriabob drools over (LaCrosse, Grand Prix or Monte Carlo). I then don't order the BIG option package with everything in it but still want the feel of the leather wrapped wheel. (Trust me, from rentals I've had, it makes for a different driving sensation than the urethane wheel). Is there a way to add this feature (leather wrapped wheel a la factory) without pulling the steering wheel off or at least doing it after the fact with some amount of ease? I would we willing to let the dealer do it. Let me know if you have any ideas/opinions.

So, here's my issue: For $#!+s and giggles, and because I got them free... and because a rear side marker lamp in my bumper went out and is the most difficult light I've ever had the displeasure to attempt accessing... ahem, I installed LED lights for all park, brake and turn signal lamps on my wife's car. I understood there would be an issue with hyper-flashing with the turn signals (which are combination park/turn lamps in front #1057 - double filament, and only turn lamps in rear #1056 - single filament). An electronic flasher solved that problem. The other problem is that with the four combination tail/brake lamps #1057, two 194 style rear markers and the high-mou…

I got there by changing to oil anywhere from every 2,000 to 2,500 miles. Last trans fluid was 222,000. If I did both near 260,000, I should theoretically go to 300,000 within the next scheduled interval. Since we got back from the road trip I've noticed a low noise coming from the engine, it sounds sort of like knocking, but not a loud knock. This happens after the engine has warmed up...when it first starts it doesn't make the noise. Like I said, it's not very loud, you can only hear it if the car is stopped and the Air is off and the radio is off. I took it to Clark Chrysler the other day for it's oil change and mentioned it, they took a look and determined it to be the lifters, and said it wasn't anything to worry about unless it got louder. I also talked to someone else who said it may be because of the oil that was in it needing to be changed, or that it's just the…
