While the Lounge is for members only, there are two key points we wish to have our members abide by:
1) Please use office talk. Talk that you would not use around the office, or infront of your boss for that matter, please do not use here on C&G
2) No political talk. There are plenty of forums on the 'net for that. Lets keep C&G free of political talk.

  1. Basically right now it lets you show off your car, in the same manner CarDomain or CarSpace would, but in facebook. A LOT of new features are coming, including rating your car and a buy&sell. The ratings will be particularly interesting because you'll be able to see a list of people with the most popular cars in your network, your geographical location, and so on. Suggestions for improvements are welcome. Pretty much anything is possible if you can name it... it can be added. *A lot of Classic cars are on the way for "favorites"* So far we have planned to add the following in the next week or two: > Buy & Sell > Rate my car > Top rated cars …

So I was talking to a friend today and he said his dad was buying himself a brand new FJ Cruiser to replace his 1996 Grand Voyager. Apparently he paid cash for it already and is taking delivery on Thursday. So what did I do? I told his son about the Frame problems, and showed pictures, and directed him to this site and others and told him of some of Toyota's other follies that nobody gets to here about. Last I heard, his dad was on his way to the Toyota dealer to tell the salesman the deal was off. () Chock one up for the good guys.

No, rewind 13-14 years, and there but 2 real options- the Ferrari F430, and the Lamborghini Gallardo. The F430 was the gorgeous 360 Modena's uglier, but more athletic successor. A car that continued Ferrari's foray into the digital age that their cars now reside in. The Gallardo was the car that saved Lamborghini and was the first full product developed by their overlords- the VW Group. As the new CEO was taking over, he asked the former chief if he could give him any advice. The outgoing CEO said he would leave something useful in the top drawer of the desk. On his first Monday at the helm, the new CEO opened the top drawer. There was a note and 3 envelopes, numbered 1 through 3. The instructions were to open the envelopes in order as a crisis in business would arise. The new CEO shoved the note and envelopes to the back of the drawer. Things ran smoothly for 6 to 8 months but then, sure enough, something went haywire and the CEO didn't know what to do. The board of directors wanted answers. He thought, "What the heck." and opened the first envelope…

Most if not all states have now made it a primary offense under pressure from the Federal Government. But one state wants to extend the "click" to man's best friend riding in the passenger seat and sticking his head out the window. Under New Jersey Statute 4:22-18, unrestrained pets in vehicles is an act of animal cruelty, and drivers who don’t secure their pooch in a pet seat belt will be subject to fines, ranging from $250 to $1,000 and as much as six months in jail. Still no new radio, no cruise control and the headliner is still duct taped up. And it needs a windshield. But at least we'll be able to get the kayaks to the lake without having to pray they dont act like a sail on the Prius. In the long term, I think I'm going to reverse my stance and say that I'll be willing to yank the 307 in favor of something a little ballsier. Also, I got my bike rebuilt and put a new seat on it, but that also feels hollow, mostly because I want a new bike.

Well today I got my 2006 GTO tail lights in the mail and installed them. It took about 5 or so minutes to take the old ones out and put the new ones in. Anyways, here's before: One black light and one red light: And after:

I don't know how this happened, but I'm pissed as hell about it. That was taken after I had deleted half of the crap in quarantine. I just got the rest of it out of there. And now I just got a message saying I have Adware somewhere on my computer and I can't delete it. Hackers and people who feel the need to invade and ruin a costly piece of equipment should rot in jail for it.

EDIT: Now it appears GM says they are coming to the EXPO, but the U of I's site that lists the companies coming doesn't have GM... maybe they just don't know what table they're putting GM at yet. This is a long ways away, but I might be able to get an internship for the summer... there are a lot of companies coming to the engineering job EXPO at U of I, but the only two automotive companies interested in freshman mechanical engineers (what I'm in) are Ford and Rolls-Royce. I think Rolls would be rather boring, so Ford would be my only chocie if I want an internship in the car business (of course there are like 93 companies interested in ME freshmen, so I could get somet…

  81. Edmunds Evaluation: 2006 Minivan Comparison Test 1st: Honda Odyssey 2nd: Kia Sedona 3rd: Toyota Sienna 4th: Nissan Quest 5th: Chrysler Town & Country If there's an ever-changing segment of the automotive industry, it's the family-friendly world of minivans. In the 29 months since our last hard look at the segment, it has completely turned itself over. The Kia Sedona and Honda Odyssey have been overhauled, while the Nissan Quest and Chrysler Town & Country have been given thorough once-overs. To see which is the king of the modern mommy-mobiles, we brought the four together, along with the winner of the 2004 comparison test, the Toyota Sienna. Each of the …

I thought I'd give this Reatta for sale a free plug because I just feel bad for it... 1988 Buick Reatta - 63k - $7563 See, that car has been for sale at that dealership for over four years. I remember because I was showing it to a friend of mine shortly before I graduated high school in 2003. Back then, it had 62 and change on the clock and was listed at $10,000 even. I guess it accumulated ~500 miles from being moved back and forth between their two lots so much. Today, it was up in Palm Harbor again. I've seen it on eBay four times. I think they're still charging too much for it; $7500 seems pricey for a first-year Reatta hardtop in the all-too-common shade of red, …

  89. So, we have been having some good discussions here, some a little bit heated, some that bring a lot of light to the subject. to lighten thing sup a bit we bring you Dream car garage, Snap On truck edition. My old boss from several years ago used to love to scuba dive. He found an entirely intact Snap on truck full of tools off of a bridge on a fairly deep river that was a tributary to lake Michigan. Cold water kept the tools in decent shape, he was able to actually turn several of them back in to Snap On for exchange. Guy from Snap On was like "wow, this is some unique stuff, tools we have not sold since the 1950's." This is your chance to let the little k…

While watching a new show on speed called pass time (which is very good) i have been introduced to a new form of drag racing. There have been a few electric cars come on the show. One was an electric powered s10 and the other was a pro comp rail style dragster with no less than 450 batteries and an electric motor that was the equivalent of 31 ci. Now being the big fan of big block power houses i am i totally underestimated these cars even though i am aware of an electric car on tv that i saw called "white Zombie" which consistently runs 11.5's. the pro comp style electric drag car ran if i recall correctly right at 9 maybe an 8.80. low and behold here are a few clips from…

  91. I figure there are many cars that we all can agree on or at least personally feel never got the chance to live, that were cancelled when they were nice and could of been reconfigured rather than discarded. Of course, it's easy to say "Oh, bring back X and call it a day", I'm gonna up the ante a bit and ask what should be done, and to start, gonna bring in the American Roadsters from our favorite General: The Kappa twins themselves! Now, I understand the platform costed them $$$, and it wasn't exactly a Miata slayer, but I feel like now, people are starting to notice them again and they did have potential, whether it'd be en…

I don't know if it's the carnival like atmosphere, or if it's because they only come around every 2 years, but I just love the Olympics. I love the Summer Games more than the Winter Games, but it might just be that I enjoy seeing all that naked flesh in the Summer Games more than what I see in the Winter Games. I want to say I really enjoyed the Women's Beach Volleyball teams this year.

Within the last couple of weeks, I saw "Slumdog Millionaire." I thought it would a comedy, when someone told me about the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" theme. It was anything but. It was probably one of the most powerful movies I've ever seen If anyone is feeling down, see this movie and you will feel better...we don't have it that bad. A co-worker has also lent me "Shawshank Redemption" and "Primal Fear." They are mid-90s movies I've never seen. Both are also really powerful....the first for all its messages about life (and an unbelievable Morgan Freeman performance) and the second one for the way the courtroom drama and forensics stuff plays out, not to mentio…

The economy is really quite that bad. We recycle, and the soda we've bought lately has been from NH, so the cans aren't redeemable. So we just put them in the recycle bin. well trash day comes and the bin has a bunch of non redeemable cans in it. Alter in the day I went to go get the bins and found the cans bin gone. It wasn't windy or anything so I can only assume someone swiped the bin with the cans in it. I mean seriously...you couldn't have just taken the cans out? Now we have to get another bin. Of course, whoever took them well be in for a surprise when they go to redeem them and the machine won't except it.

Kicking this off mid month since I did not see anyone else start a February thread. Saw a rather dirty but new GMC Hummer EV Truck. Was really surprised how tall and big it is. Thought it was the same length as my 2006 Escalade ESV which is 221 inches long and the GMC Hummer EV Truck is 217 inches long, so only a 4 inch difference between the autos. Very cool looking and I love the stance.

This guy: (Senor Wolfenstein @ the wheel) ...has now had its lower left fascia mangled by a raccoon strike at 70mph by the people who got it after I did. I know how he feels...the exact same thing happened to me with an R32 last year. Damn near happened with the CC. Apparently I have a thing with VW's and raccoons.
