Well, you guessed it... Almost a year to the day that I bought my Focus ZX3 after totalling my Focus LX in that nasty 18 wheeler wreck, I have now destroyed the ZX3. The FOG's record: 4 accidents in the past 6 years involving 4 different cars. NONE of them my fault. I guess I have an imaginary target painted on my car or something. Hell, come to think of it, I've always dreamed of being in a demolition derby and I gues, in a way my dream has come true...LOL So, here's the story. I'm home for the weekend from school becaue I alternate weekends between here and there. The last 3 times I've been home have not been pleasant, the first being my going away party where two…

No, I'm not trying to convert anybody here to communism. I'm just expressing my happiness at going to school in a town full of people with more money than they know what to do with. Why? Because, there are certain people in this world, who, upon breaking one mug, decide that their entire set of dishes is now no good for them. Then I can get the whole set of dishes for $20 at the local thrift store. It even comes with a sugar bowl and creamer cup! I have no idea when I'll ever need a cup for creamer, but it certainly is nice to know I have one around.

So I'm on Google searching for images to use for a little graphic design project I'm doing for a friend... I'm looking for an avatar style image of a kitten or cat... like a Hello Kitty style image to put a devils' tail and horns on and I come across this: http://chokersandwich.com/archives/2004_06.html For a second there I thought I was halucinating. I wonder who will be the first pervert to use the smiley? Oh damn, it's me.

Sometimes my import oriented friends really get my nerves at times. At one point, one claimed that the Civic Si (a 2006 one BTW) has LSD and it feels like an RWD car. And then the owner of the Civic defends on the tuning of his engine (i.e. 195hp at like near the end of curve, which I find obnoxious) because "it's tuned for racing". He says that the tuning on my G6 (and all Americans as a matter of fact, he's a Honda nut), since the torque and power peaks are at such low RPMs, "will run out of power" when racing. I told him all I know is I don't have to rev all the way up there for a turn or overtaking a bus. And as I mentioned before, my Mazda3 friend still insists…

I love Italian food. Very high on my list. Growing up with Italian parents, I never went without expertly prepared pasta, chicken or veal dishes. However, I never have a craving for Italian food. But I will go into Greek food withdrawals. So, I'd say Greek. The meats and poultry are succulent, the vegetables, rice and potatoes tend to be seasoned without being offensively strong. Not to mention the tzatziki, hummus or baklava. It's also pretty good for you. Look at those 100 year old ladies with orthopedic shoes and black dresses hanging out in Mykonos or Santorini...see? For you Californians and Arizonans, there is the Daphne's chain. For less than $ 10, you c…

From the L.A. Times: A driver lost control of a Ferrari sports car traveling 120 mph along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu this morning, slamming into a power pole that cut the car — which sells for up to $1 million — in half, according to authorities. One man suffered minor injuries. He was identified as Stefan Erikssen, of Bel-Air, said Sgt. Philip Brooks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The sports car went airborne and struck a power pole 5 to 10 feet off the ground, Brooks said. The car was demolished, but two air bags deployed. "You pay a million bucks for a car, you expect safety," Brooks said. Investigators said they believe the driver was alon…

As you've most likely heard, the Prez is presenting a deal to have the government of the United Arab Emirates take control of major ports on the east coast. Do you think that Dubya has finally "lost" it? I can't believe this is actually happening. He even said....and I quote...."if Britain can operate our ports, how are they different from the U.A.E.?" How can you compare Great Britain to ANY middle-eastern country? In my opinion, G.B. is as close to sainthood as you can get when talking about U.S. allies.... I don't intend to get into a huge political debate here.....but IMHO, to give ANY middle-eastern country access to major ports in the U.S. is taking a c…

At this point in time, I'm nowhere near in the position to buy a house but I thought I'd take a look at some places I'd definitely like to live in one day. This is my current favorite: This is pretty much my ideal house. It's a nice-looking place for sure and the thing I really like about it is that it has a nice woodsy backyard (the pond is quite the bonus). I'm loving the patio, too. http://realtor.com/FindHome/HomeListing.as...50&lnksrc=00001

Yeah, 02.20.2006 looks sweet, but it isn't. First, I wake up after having a dream my mom was divorcing my dad.. for my boss. She tells me in the dream that, "Well, I don't know what to do. I'm 100% in love with one man and 400% in love with another. I'm 100% in love with you and 400% in love with Jeff [your boss]" Then I preceded to walk into work and tear up the entire backroom, leaving with two fists of blood. Analysis: Holy $h!. Terrible start to the day. So the day's started now. I go to work and end up arguing over the phone with my mom for over an hour because she's given me fifteen effing mixed signals over cell phones. I'm supposed to buy a new…

The ONLY reason I bring this up is because on the MSN homepage there was a blurb about the fact that he won't go alive. With all the negative Iraq stuff, I sure as heck don't go into the news that much; however, what brought this on? I am wondering if that organization is feeling some heat or if some captured individuals are "spilling the beans." Just a thought.

Okay, I'm going to be corny and unoriginal by posting the same kind of thread that Camino did a while back. Basically this is you opportunity to influence what I buy when I trade in 1997 Cadillac STS. Before we start here's a few ground rules: RWD is pretty much a must, that's the only thing that is not negotiable. Rear-biased AWD however is okay. A FWD car would have to be extremely unique/original/rare to even be considered. You guys know I'm RWD obsessed, let's not get into semantics. Other than Lexus I will consider any RWD Car... and for the right price a GS might, I said MIGHT be tempting. A V8 is not a must but a pushrod V8 or inline-six would be prefered, esp…

Yesterday at around 2pm I helped to destroy a Honda. Wait, hear me out. I was driving the Datsun and caught this stupid red light that is pretty much useless becasue it should just be a blinking light IMO. It always stays red for like 3 minutes even though 15 sec. would be sufficient for the ONE car that is waiting to merge onto Rt.113. Anyway I slow down at the light and leave my car in Neutral since god knows how long I'd have to hold the clutch otherwise. All of a sudden this loud fart-can equiped nasty, refrigerator white 1990-93 Honda Accord pulls up next to me. He revs his motor for a sec and gives me "the look". So I'm like, sure I'm game... why not. I hold m…

So... I went yesterday. I went with my parents, grandpa and a friend of mine. We all walked around together to all the exhibits - if somebody wanted to see it, we would spend a little time. The only companies that we didn't go to? Toyota and Kia. Kia just didnt have anything new we wanted to see, and there were a few comments about not having enough coffee for the Toyota exhibit. GM's exhibit was really impressive. They had a stage where they drove the vehicles up as they introduced them. Lexus had a really impressive 'owners lounge' at the back of their exhibit. Show your Lexus key, get in to the lounge and get free coffee, food etc. Ford actually had a decent e…

While spring is right around the corner, it is still winter...and some of us don't have our older cars out to play yet. That in mind, what is your favorite non-car-related event during the year? Mine is coming up next Saturday, February 25. The church I attend in Batavia IL is hosting its Annual Spaghetti Dinner. It has done so ever since I can remember, even back in the late 1970s when my grandfather was the pastor. When I started attending the church in the early 1990s, I was surprised to find that they were still hosting the dinner. It's a wonderful event that brings out church members and community/area residents for an evening of delicious spaghetti, fine desse…

A big "no thanks" for me. I thought it was ok for people who needed it to survive. It has now become a sport. I couldn't imagine felling a large animal...though if a moose was headed my way, I wouldn't think twice about pulling the trigger in self defense (I got real close to one on a Canadian Highway near Banff in 2003). There are some people I work with who do it. They don't seem to do it in the Sierra Nevada or in California. They tend to go to Montana or other more remote states. Not for me. Falling asleep on a warm beach on the Mediterranean: now you're talking.

Pink Floyd certainly is a bizarre name for a band, isn't it? It is widely thought that the band is named after two American blues musicians, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. There is an alternate story that Syd Barrett got the name from a flying saucer, but then again, Syd Barrett was drugged out of his mind. However, I have recently discovered that the name Floyd means "the hollow." Ponder that for a moment.

Situation 2: This is a bit different, but kind of the same. I'm at the gym in the locker room getting changed and this older guy comes from the showers and is kind of near me drying off. I'm going to have to give up one of my Malamute pups. They have started to fight and draw blood on each other. I did some research online last night and it seems that they aren't likely to get over it - ever. It can be controlled with intensive training and forced separation but they could never be trusted without supervision. That wouldn't be fair to them or to me. So, with great sadness, I'm going to have to choose between them. Anyone else feel like their life is 100% ?

Well... not really... but help me buy one. I'm finding the increasing need for a truck/SUV. I have never been a fan of them so I don't know much about them. I'm looking for a good used deal. Here are the criteria: 1. Has to be Big 2.5. 2. Has to be full sized. I need to put big things like doors and appliances in it. 3. Would *like* a diesel, but not a deal breaker. 4. Would *like* 4wd, most likely a deal breaker. Edit: I'm keeping the CTS. This would just be a work truck for tending to my apartment buildings.

I'm really confused how trucks that had GCVWRs of 26,000 and 36,000 lbs can be towed now by 3500 pickup.... and a Dodge too! Why not get a GM or a Ford truck... hummm anybody know anything about the big dodge, i read that they can only tow up to 19500 so thats why im worried, i think our big trailer is over 19500.

It will going without saying that Josh and a few others will predictably HATE this stuff. This era reminds me of everybody having a Cutlass Supreme coupe, bad clothes, Greg Brady hair and a much easier-going and more affordable LA. At work, I will put on the headphones and draft away to Donna Summer's greatest hits and similar stuff - MacArthur Park is her far and away her finest work, IMO. It's great to drive to as well and...no...I've NEVER set foot on a dance floor to this stuff. I know there's a lot of people who hate it. So be it.

Less than 2 seconds after my having woken up. What's more creepy than the fact that my alarm clock is Atomic Clock accurate is the fact that this heppens quite often. Bizzare & frankly, a bit perplexing. Anyone else have this happen on occasion?

So you've lived your life thinking as many Americans that the CHevrolet Chevette and Citation are two of the most ugyl cars ever made, huh? (not my opinion but happens ot be popular opinion these days) Well, all you guys know that despite my dislike for 99% of Honda & Toyota products I like a few Nissan/Infiniti cars/trucks and have a weak spot ofr old 60s/70s/80s RWD Nissans that were imported here as Datsuns. And yet look at these two horrible cars that Datsun madein the 80s. Ugly Chevette wannabe Frumpy Citation Wannabe

Found some of these with random google searches... My grandma had a Lumina sedan exactly like that one before she got her Cobalt. But just think... this is the car I almost got. I mean... could you imagine me driving that thing?!?!? Floaty ride, bench seat, auto tranny, column shifter, red interior, sedan, 3.1L V6, hubcaps.... Ugh. I'm glad I said no and got my GAGT instead. Plus, that thing was in poor condition, even though it only had 30k or so miles. The paint was oxidized, faded, and peeling... it was missing two hubcaps, and it was always in the shop for mechincal problems. It sounded like $h!, too... God, that thing can make a person love an unl…

Although the snow let up in intensity and ended altogether hours ago, school has still been cancelled for tommorow! :sign0200: Just over 24" of snow fell on the area late last night and earlier today. Westchester schools announced county-wide closings for Monday by late afternoon, but New York City Schools remained open until the past hour when the decision to cancel classes was made (I attend school in the Bronx). Roads are still a mess and trains will be on a limited schedule tommorow due to the storm. Since most students at my school commute from Westchester by train, I'm pretty sure that's what warranted the closing. I'm especially happy because I've put off…

I would say most people go to a restaurant for convenience, for something different to eat, for atmosphere, and for good service. Saturday I went to Applebee's for lunch. The server came by in a reasonable period of time and took my order... so far, so good. Then it all went to hell in a handbasket. I ordered one of their new "combos", which is your choice of an entree and a dessert for one price. I got the Southwest Chicken/Raspberry cheesecake combo. It took a long time to get my food and the place wasn't that busy for that day and time. The cheese on top of the chicken was burned to ash on the edges. It actually disintegrated into black dust when I cut it. The…

Is it me or does the aftermarket aluminum dash installed in this G6 look suprisingly good? That one close up shot looks like it came straight from the factory! Though it could be a little more understated, I think it really dresses up the interior nicely! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac-GT-...611215357QQrdZ1

I think we've had threads like this before, but maybe not on the new forum. Anyways, last night I took out four of my friends on a country road with no one around and we went 132MPH in the GTO before we had to shut it down (stop sign). I could tell a noticealbe difference in acceleration with 600 extra pounds of weight in the car, but it still picked up pretty damn quickly. Somewhat amazingly, the GTO still felt totally under control and stable at that speed. We also did some sweet donuts in a parking lot with plenty of smoke, but that's another story. On a side note, I think I've been at 115+ 4 times now. So, what's the fastest everyone's gone in a vehicle?

1946 Chevrolet Suburban Carryall Motoring Memories: Chevrolet/GMC Suburban, 1935-2006 Story and photo by Bill Vance Ours is an evolving automotive world where fads and fancies, not to mention names and models, come and go. But through the years some vehicles, such the Model T Ford and the Volkswagen Beetle, did remain constant to their original calling. The T is gone of course, and Beetle production ended in Puebla, Mexico in July, 2003. The Volkswagen Beetle has even been reincarnated, albeit now with a front engine and front-wheel drive. Another model that has stayed the course is the truck-based all-steel Suburban (called the Suburban Carryall until 1973) sta…

Since I took pics of pics of my family's wrecked vehicles... took some of non-wrecked ones, too. Again, our 00 Grand Am SE wrecked: Our 89 Regal and 96 Grand Am SE sitting beside each other: Our old 83 Plymouth Turismo and 8? Cutlass: My cousin's 91 Firebird: BTW, please excuse me as a baby... Those are the only pics I have of these vehicles. Also excuse the poor quality. I don't have a scanner as you know... So I have to take pictures of pictures with my digicam and as you also know, my digicam sucks.

Both cars I've drivin on a daily basis have been floor shifter so I'm used to it. That one week I had my car in the shop for repair on the head gasket I was going between my dad's 2000 Impala and my bro's 94 Park Ave (both have column shifters). The following week after I got my car back, I remember one point I was backing up and when I went to put it into drive I reach up and hit my windshield wiper switch as if it was a column shifter Idk.. I must have been pretty tired or something that day. But anyway, for those of us who are stuck with/perfer an auto over a manual, wich do you guys perfer?

I dont know how many here are into winter sports or at least watching them. I'm not much on sports but downhill ski racing has always been on my list. The legs become the ultimate shock absorbers, the fine edge of the ski carves the perfect arch, the knees and hips all but touching the surface as the body leans and fights the lateral g's to keep those edges at the perfect angle. 85+mph on your feet against a mountain and ice...... the ultimate adreneline rush. The Olympics are on !

...and look as good doing it? F-35 STOVL/VTOL takeoff & landing cycle Probably not. That's our new Joint Strike Fighter, Lockheed's XF-35. Here's a shorter 11-second takeoff clip. The thrust vectoring technology is nothing short of amazing and well beyond the still-impressive AV-8 Harrier.

Here is a puzzle for those who seek to be mentally challenged as opposed to being mentally challenged. The object here is to alter a word by one letter. You may do so by adding a letter, removing a letter, replacing a letter with another, and/or rearranging the word at the same time. Here is an example: BEST STAB BATS STAG STAGE STATE ESTATE TASTE EAST BEAST BASE To start off with here's the word> Dodge

A friend of mine owns a NASCAR store in Brantford, Ontario which is closing and trying to sell all their merch. It's called Checkered Flag Racing. They have tons of jackets, die casts (including non-NASCAR), unique metal work of drivers, hats, etc... One thing I thought people here might be interested in was a GTO keychain. It's shaped like a piston, with the GTO logo stamped on the end of the piston. Anyways, here it is if any Ontarians want to drop by, or you can ask me if they have something via PM and I'll pass the question on. map

I realize this is kind of like asking which Yugo was highest quality, but seriously... there's got to be some. What, in your opinion, was Toyota's most influential or revolutionary product? When did they NOT follow the crowd?

The Yes and No are for crimes which, if convicted, would carry the death penalty. As one reads the paper, they can't help but see all the heinous, unprovoked and sickeningly violent actions carried out by certain individuals. While I may bill myself as a liberal practicing Catholic, religion doesn't even come into this one. My feeling is that if it is legitimate to kill an opponent in combat to protect yourself, it is certainly ok to permanently anesthesize a monster who threatens a city, a state or a region. Let's try to keep politics/religion out of this. Just your practical opinion. I don't apologize for mine.

I usually go to my mom's on Thursdays for dinner. This week, the conversation turned to this: mom: "Did you see the movie Brokeback Mountain?" "Yes" "Did it have a lot of pretty scenery in it? "Yes it did." "I heard it was a good story. What did you do when they had their little love scene?" "Sat there with the rest of the audience." "Did you see a lot of gay birds there? You're not"/ (I cut her off mid-sentence) "Most of the people there were ladies your age."/ on to a different subject chosen by her. Sorry to blog up the lounge with yet another angsty thread on this kind of thing, it's just hard to take that leap into the unknown. I wish I had some semblan…

After an entire month of above average temperatures and little if any snow, it looks like winter is finally ready to make a comeback. A Blizzard Watch is currently in effect for my county (Westchester, NY), along with approx. 10 other counties in Southern New England and Long Island. I'm sure Paulie (LI) is getting ready for this as well. Snow is expected to overspread my area in the early afternoon tommorow and become heavy through tommorow night and Sunday. Last I heard whiteout conditions were likely for late tommorow night. Most forecasts are calling for 8-12", though some are forecasting higher amounts. I'll have to get out early tommorow before the storm arr…

I have been driving a 95 Buick Regal since I totaled my 01 Sunfire about a year ago. Today, I (with MAJOR help from my parents) traded it in on a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo! It wasn't my first choice, but I am really stoked...It is EXTREMELY clean. It's white with the black interior and "aluminum" trim. Anyways...when I get a chance I will take some pictures and hopefully someone here can help me post them!

Credit first must be given to ToniCipriani for his thread on a "Saturn Astra" trademark that GM has recently registered: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...view=getnewpost I decided to do some snooping on the site he cited and this is what I found so far: -Nissan Motors has recently registered the names "G37", "FX37", and "M37" for its Infiniti brand. This pretty much is a confirmation of the rumor of the size of Nissan's new VQ (or VQ-derived) V6 engine. Now we just have to see if the 330hp claims are also true. -Toyota Motors last summer reigstered "LX520", "LX550", "LX570" and "LX600". Obviously, they're not going to use all of these but based on the new …
