Okay, so here's the deal. My father and I have been watching NHRA drag racing on television for about as long as I can remember. I was over his house tonight and we were watching a short half-hour show that featured a few old races from a national event in the early 80's. After the show was over, my father started saying how cool it would be if he were able to buy old races on DVD. So when I got home, I searched for such DVDs online and, just as I suspected, there was virtually nothing to be found. So now it's up to me to find them in whatever format they may be in and put them on DVD. So for any of you fans out there that remember the days of TNN, American Sports Cavalca…

I have been a little busy and have wanted to go see a flick. For some stupid reason, I wanted to see "Poseidon." The reviews were not good, but I love ships. Two years out of college, I got to go on the QE2 but I was hooked long before then as a little kid when we would sail out of NY on other liners to go see relatives on the other side of the Atlantic. Is "Poseidon" any good? Any good comedies or mysteries out there? Reg, where are you?

My mom is going to move out and we get to keep our house so I want to turn the room that was once promised for me but taken by my aunt and then my mom. I FINALLY get my 2nd room back. This time I want to make it fun. I want to make it have a nostagic look with Hubcaps, etc. Any ideas on what I should use or anyone recommend anyhting or have anyhting laying around. A friend of mine owns a NASCAR store in Brantford, Ontario which is closing and trying to sell all their merch. It's called Checkered Flag Racing. They have tons of jackets, die casts (including non-NASCAR), unique metal work of drivers, hats, etc... One thing I thought people here might be interested in was a GTO keychain. It's shaped like a piston, with the GTO logo stamped on the end of the piston. Anyways, here it is if any Ontarians want to drop by, or you can ask me if they have something via PM and I'll pass the question on. map

Well im basically doing a project and this basically sums up what I have to do: "Choose someone you know that has lived through an interesting period in American history before 1970 and interview him/her. Possible topics for the interview could be your interviewee's experiences in the great depression, ww2, the 1950s, civil rights movement, the 1960's, or the Vietnam War. Create a list of at least 8 questions to ask them. Your project will consist of the questions you have created and your written version of your interviewee's responses to each question. Remember you will need to have follow-up questions ready to encourage your subject to elaborate on im…

My daughter will start driving this year and going off to some university in two years. Mrs. PCS is starting to have empty nest issues and keeps whispering in my ear it's not to late to have one more. She is hard to resist once she has her mind set on something. I'm 38 so I would be 56 by the time the next one would be going off to college. So I guess my question is are there any older dads out there and if there are, looking back would you have had another child again, knowing what you know now? If you want to PM me your answer, that's cool too.

I just made this thread since i found out alot of people have old pinball machines or Pacman chilling in there house. Also apart of it was i was trying to figure out how to bypass the coin chute with washers. WMJ if you see this. How in hell did you do that? its a Williams Laser (or Lazer) Ball from 1979. Its amazing how complex those wirong diaghrams are for me. and how many computer boards there are. theres at least $20 in quaters in the tray at all times. but the sad part is durring some partys I leave some quaters in a jar to use to get credits that all the coins are accounted for.

I got a chance to check out the Buick today with my own eyes (previous days have been to cloudy and wet), and the frame is definitely bent. Anyone know the cost to make it straight? Just surface repairs are going to be $1500 to $1800. The repair shop is 100% sure there are issues underneath. **Hubcaps not on car, as these are winter tires**

Lately I have picked up running / jogging after having been mostly inactive the past couple years (with the exception of lifting weights on occasion). I started off pretty hard, doing two miles and running about half of it and getting a little winded, but otherwise fine. The second time was easier, but my legs began to get a little sore and I started getting shin splints (however that has gone away). The third time I ran for 3/4 of the route and got home and my legs were spasming, and then sore for days afterward. This was about three weeks ago. Ever since then, I have been unable to run hard; I start running and the calf in my right leg feels weak to the point whe…

Does anybody know if Toyota in particulr is coming to the table with a cheaper RWD platform similar to Zeta or LX. I wonder the implications of a RWD V-8 Avalon to Detriot. Even more daring what about an answer to the Camaro and Mustang. It may be corny but, imagine a RWD Midsize Celica with a 3.5L 268hp V-6 and a 5.7L V-8 with 381hp from the new Tundra. Wow, this world is getting scary for a GM fan. Let's hope it take Toyota 20 years to catch this All-American Trend. Then, again they aren't exactly slow.

Great band, one of the ones from the 90s that I think will be still be remembered long after the fact. It's one of the few bands where they have changed their style throughout the years yet I still enjoy it all. My favorite album is Siamese Dream. My favorites on it are Soma, Disarm, Cherub Rock, and Mayonnaise. Soma is just a kick ass song, one of the best ones put out by SP IMHO. People complained about Adore's change of direction but I like it. And even though Machina didn't sell well, it's a great album with a lot of good songs. One thing SP never seemed to do was sell out their sound to become more mainstream. They always did their own thing and a lot of thei…

have Word 2000 and I am creating a document that has a "fill in the blanks" type feeling to it. My question is, is there a way to have lines that you can put text onto without the line moving because all you did was something like this "_______________". To put it another way if this is hard to understand and you really have the kindness in your heart to help . I just need something that can be a line with words on it, but like a template. not like this "_______hello______"

I looked up the "Special T" T-Type and all I found was that it had a Grand National exterior with a T-Type interior. Anyone know anymore about this like production numbers or what colours they came in. That Regal T-Type outside of my work looks to fit that description except for the fact that it is grey. I believe the guy may know what he has got because it has a T-Type dash pad cover and a sticker on the window with the National 6 logo.

I am rethinking my approach to getting a car. I think the Regal would be good but it has 350,000kms and I wouldn't trust that so would it be good to get a new motor from GM Performance Parts? I would want a 3800 Series II but at GM Performance Parts they are Supercharged. I like the idea of a supercharged Regal. Maybe a new trans or one off of another Regal. Would it be worth to do this? It has 350,000 kms on the car but it could be capable of getting more right with a new engine? If anyone knows how much a new crate motor is then please tell me. I think I may just get the Regal now before it goes to the wreckers. They only want $200 or less. WOuld this be a wise choice …

I've done a search and couldn't find any topic on E85, so I have to ask is there anybody using E85? We recently got an E85 pump at a Kroger gas station in Carrollton Texas. It's running $2.52 per gallon. The brochure states it's 100+ octane, but I haven't been able to tell any difference in power or otherwise since I've been using it. This is my 3rd tank and I have noticed a drop in MPG.....around 3-4 mpg less for city driving. Haven't been on a trip so I can't speak for hwy/mpg, but I could manage 20 mpg/hwy on regular...between 65-70 mph. The brochures they put out are pretty cool.. It says: The American Fuel....Fuel from the midwest not the mideast. So far…

Yes, I've been scarce around here. The reasons are many & varied. Prob. the biggest & most significant is that I've been trying to spend as much time as possible with both the girls. Amelia it seems is growing up twice as fast as Sofia did, sh is seven months old as of Sunday. The day before that she got her first tooth. I'm trying to get as much Q.T. with all three as possible, while catching up on a lot of non-C&G related parts of my life. I still love you guys, I love this forum. But I have to admit the news from GM these s NOT what I need to cheer me up. I get up at 3:30am, go to UPS, end my slave-labor there…

I found this old 1989 Dakota Sport in an empty lot with some other junkers, Golf, 2 Aerostars, and a 94 Cavalier with a huge whole in the drivers door. I actually went to check out the Cavalier but this. It is in bad shape but the body isnt too bad on it. It has rust on the rockers (not eating away) and the paint is peeling but on trucks, most stuff is replaceable compared to a unibody. The biggest thing that concerns me is the crack in the windshield and I dont know how it runs. However, I have always loved these Dakotas.

I bought what I'm thinking will be my last one today. Anyway, the four lighters are: Chrome Standard Zippo from 1967 in worn but loved condition. The original hinge pin fell out and was replaced with a paper clip (works very, very well). Chrome Standard Zippo Mini from 1968 in beat to hell condition. I wonder if it found it's way to 'Nam, honestly. Chrome Standard Zippo from 1995 with a 2000 insert in used condition. This one is worth maybe $15 bucks, tops, so I'm not worried about it's value. I'm pretty unsatisfied with both of my computers right now. My desktop is pretty much a Frankenstein hodge-podge of newer parts (motherboard, processor...) and parts from previous computers (hard drive, RAM...). The thing is pretty slow by today's standards and it been grating on my nerves for a while. The Compaq laptop is much faster (2.8GHz Pentium 4, 512MB RAM) but is an unreliable POS. The power connector broke, the keyboard and touchpad are dead and the montior has some dead pixels. Not to mention it gets hot and is loud as hell. So I've recently been looking at alternatives for the future and came across a pretty good-looking deals on Alienware and Mac G5 compute…

A friend of mine owns a 2002 Honda Odyssey. At the time of purchase, he took an extended warrentee, from GE. Two weeks ago, his transmission failed; requiring the installation of a rebuilt unit. The thing is, when installing a rebuilt unit, Honda suggests replacing the transmission PCM (power control module), at a cost of almost 1k. GE picked up the cost of the transmission, but not the computer. But since my friend is required to use a new PCM, shouldn't the warrentee cover its' replacement? Anyone have any suggestions? Also, does anyone know of any popular Honda forums, where I might also pose this question? Thanks in advance!

I'm curious if anyone here is near Newburgh, NY? I'm about ~2 hours away and found a vehicle for sale I'm interested in. Was hoping someone much closer could go take a look for me.

The manual column shift thread made me think of this... I know a number of people my age (almost 40) and younger that have never driven a vehicle w/ a manual. I learned to drive w/ them, and drove Ford products w/ manuals most of the time for 14 years before getting my first automatic at age 30.

If you watch Mad TV, what would you say is your favourite skit you have seen them do? For me, I love the Stuart and Dot skits.

Specifically, how much an '83 Alfa GTV-6 Balocco is worth? Its a 5-speed 2.5l w/95k. I know its rare and that Leno owns one. We're trying to get $5500 for it, but I have a feeling it may be worth more. **EDIT-I ran the VIN; it's an '83**

An old friend of mine wants me to come out there and do a new landscape for him. I'm actually considering doing it. The thing is, though, everything is different so I need to give myself a crash course in California landscaping befoe I can even determine if it is doable. So, I could use any information and or pics anyone local to that area could provide. I need some local supplier connections too.

My wife Kimberley and I are going to take a 6 week vacation in July/August of this year. Two weeks we will spend home in Plano, Texas visiting my parents and extended family. However we saw a commercial on TV about visiting Utah. It looked really cool and neither of us has ever been there. So we were thinking about renting a car in Texas and driving to Utah and back since we will have four weeks to play like little kids in Utah. So does anyone on these great forums live there, or have you visited there? If you have let me know, I would like to know what you thought of Utah. Thanks in advance!

just saw this article on banshift.com and thought it was pretty cool. never knew gmc made a v12. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We know that these things are basically two V6 engines hitched together (in a common block) and that they are lazy and aren’t really all that hot rod-able. Used in firetrucks, big rigs, to run pumps, and other mundane applications, these behemoth engines made 275hp and 630 lb/ft at about 2,000 RPM when new and we think that they’re all kinds of neat. Sure, sticking one in a car or old truck wouldn’t be for creating some sort of insane running hot rod, but shoehorning one into a light enough car would result in something that should burn tires for miles if se…

...and it's not these. Rather, a 2+2 from '85 and a more base-model-looking '90 mock-up. Well, 2+2=Ugly in the case of the first one, but the second one has a cool concept-like appearance for the time. I like it better than the original 2M4 with the short buttress.

Camino and I floated the idea of a C&G-sponsored meet at the All-GM Nationals show in Carlisle, PA a couple of years ago that never got out of the planning stages. That idea, at least with me, is still on the back burner and I may try to do something for the 2010 show. But moving on... The AACA Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania is a great place to visit and the GM Futurliner will be on display there starting mid-October and lasting until early Spring. Seeing as how the winter weather in the northeast prohibits car shows from happening, maybe a C&G meet at the AACA Museum would be a good way for some C&G members to meet, take a tour of the museum, have lunch…

We've had one for several years. Went for a while unused but several months ago I dragged it out and started using it again. This thing makes awesome chicken, bacon and pork chops (never tried fish). However whenever I grill burgers it always drys them out. If anyone owns of of these things do you have this problem, and if so did you find a solution?

I'm going over one owned by the guy that owns the Healey race cars getting it ready to be sold. The car is red with a white top and red/white interior. Decent driver quality. I'll post pics at some point.

1982 Fleetwood Brougham Triple Yellow 44,000 original miles Leather No rust All Florida car Roof/leather in excellent shape Fillers still intact HT4100 V8 (maybe I shouldn't mention that) Everything works except the manual passenger mirror (linkage prob broke) Dual power seats, fuel economy computer, AM/FM/Cassette, digital climate control, cruise, power trunk pulldown If I didn't already have the Buick (and the associated money spent on it), I'd be totally rockin' this Caddy now. I had Arkus out running around the place a while back, and he disappeared from view just long enough for me to know that it meant trouble (with Arkus that's about a minute or so). So I start calling him. He still doesn't show up. Just as I'm about to jump in the Silverado to hunt him down, he rounds the bend from behind the barn. Carrying a fox in his mouth. I yell at him and he drops the fox, and crawls over to me (realizing that he's screwed-up again). So I grab a hold of of him thinking that I'll need to put a wounded fox out of its misery. When I looked up, the fox was running away (looking pretty pissed-off). I breathed a sigh of relief, thinking I'd…

SEMA Action Network is a non-profit organization that works to promote legislative solutions for classic car owners and members of the hobby. If you are a part of the hobby or just enjoy preserving this part of our history, you should take part and join. It's free and it merely updates you on laws/propositions that either promote or threaten the hobby. I recently agreed to take the SEMA SAN Challenge to try and win the trip to this year's SEMA show. If you join, kindly put my name (Josh Leatherwood) under the "How Did You Hear About Us?" question. My true loyalty lies in passion for the hobby. So even if you don't like me and don't want to put down my name (which, I don…

A buddy gave my better half some tickets, so I decided to check it out with him., last year. Did not see the flag go up and down, as we did not see the start or the finish. But we did see it on TV lol I just did not not want to deal with the rush of the crowds. I know, my bad. I got to say, I was quite impressed by the power I heard, when the cars raced by. It was incredible. I had more fun walking around the track then sitting in the bleachers. Even though, we did have pretty good seats. Well, I do not remember the name of the race, but I would go back for another. Pretty sure, I won't be invited, though. lol

I was seeing the first episode again, and in the preview at the beginning showed an Alfa 159 or Brera. But they never seem to have tested it during the season?
