Whats the worst limo/stretched car you've ever seen? Expeditions, Hummers, Navigators, yeah those rae all hideous and dumb, but the worst I've seen is a stretch Monte Carlo. The ugly one, with the weird headlights and the retarded taillights and FWD. Stretched. And painted like something out of NACAR (they dont deserve the "S") and all. It looked SOOOOOOOOO dumb. I'll snap some pics if I remember to take my camera next time I go to school. Its bad, trust me.

most definitely JIF! Jif Creamy! I love the Jif Natural too. Yummy. Trying the Simply Jif and Jif Crunchy these days too. Another one I tried recently was Trader Joes unsalted creamy, although i hate having to refrigerate peanut butter. Thought i'd give the whole foods peanut butter a try. Every time I try skippy, meh. Doesn't match up to Jif. The walmart and target brands are ok but in truth JIF reigns supreme and has something going on with it that just rocks. I am even split between the natural and the regular creamy depending on my mood.

Well I am really busy until nearly mid-June and so nothing will most likely happen between now and then but... I am thinking Cobalt/G5 Coupe with a 5spd. or a 2001-2002 GP GT Coupe. First off I think I have found basically exactly what I want, it has been for sale since early April with no offical price reduction yet. (Still same high price it was listed at.) It is a 2001 Pontiac GP GT SE Coupe in Silver with only 50K on the clock and is in very good shape (at least from the photos). I really do like the car and all the "special edition" extra's on it, problem it is nearly 500 miles away and about 1,500 more than what it is actually worth. I have emailed just to ask a few…

We already had a thread for the most overrated cars, so I thought we should also have a thread for the very underrated or forgotten cars and companies thoughout history. Personally, its Pierce-Arrow that gets the gold star for the greatest forgotten US automotive treasure. The cars equaled the prestige of Rolls-Royce and Duesenberg and were popular with foreign royalty (the rulers of Japan, Persia, Saudi Arabia and Belgium owned Pierce-Arrows). But, like so many other car companies, it disappeared during the Depression.

For the first time in what seems like forever, I'm going to be able to do something on Halloween. We're planning on going to the pub crawl, and I need to think of a kickass costume. My initial though was a giant tampon, but that would lead to logistical problems. I've also though about putting on a dress and makeup and just being a drag queen for a night. I cant think of anything good. Maybe I can be the white Mr. T

So, yeah, this is something I'm struggling with right now, and I'm not sure where to go from here. Long story short - I've been crazy about this girl for a long time, but for one reason or another we've been missing each other. I find out from her friend that she started seeing someone about 4-5 weeks ago and they're "official". Unlike any other time I've fallen for someone, I feel this one is worth putting it all on the line for. Countering that emotion, however, is my sense of right and wrong, coupled with the fact that I don't want to piss off her friend, since she in not so many words told me not to bother. So there you have it, the cliff's notes version. I might go i…

Work has been bad lately. We were bought out and we're in the process of merging the two networks. Strangely, even though this was a straight up purchase and advertised as such, it's really turning into a merger of equals. Most of my old company's stuff is being retained as it's more efficient and more advanced than the stuff our new mothership has. Most of the workforce is being retained as well. During all of this, I'm doing some fairly big renovations on one of my apartment buildings. Chest pains from stress are now a common occurrence. Yesterday, I was sent a link to failblog.com and I was laughing so hard for so long that my co-workers were getting worried. I felt co…

I used to psychologically squeeze by at $ 2.99 a gallon. Now, it's clearly above $ 3.00. It has definitely changed my driving habits. I was never a lead-foot to begin with, but now I am more cognizant about my RPMs...I try to keep them nice and low at cruise. But, more so than this, I noticed I am driving less...by just not going somewhere or grouping errands. The reason I think about this is that it is really $h!ty for the economy. Malls, restaurants, dry cleaners and such depend on you getting into your car as much as you did before to keep their business operations on par with previous years. You know that people are driving somewhat less and…

Anyone here heard of those designer dogs? You know, where they take a full blooded standard poodle and mix it with a lab or a golden retriever, or take a pug and mix it with a poodle. Did you also know they charge in upwards of $1000 for one of these dogs? That is crazy! They are mutts. While mutts are great dogs and I love them all, breeding dogs is not about money, it is about improving the breeds and freeing the breed from diseases such as canine hip displasia and eye diseases. These designer dog breeders are ripping people off by providing low quality dogs. These are not quality dogs from a health standpoint, and while they will be great dogs during their y…

I have always loved the 2-door Tahoes and Yukons but searching for them online is a hassle. They always slip between the cracks in any search and I end up entering every configuration of 2-door Tahoe(Yukon) as in 2dr Tahoe, 2-door Tahoe, Tahoe 2-door, etc. or sifting through thousands of 4-doors just to find a handful of 2-door listings. What a PITA! So, if you run across any let me know.

So, I pull into the driveway and stop to collect the trash cans. I use the dash switch to open the rear hatch in my new Tahoe and load in the cans. Truck is running while I do this. I close up the back and go to the driver's door. The Tahoe has locked itself with my only key in the ignition. I try multiple "tools" to get at the lock switch on the door while I try to balance on the running board. I slip. I smack the side-view mirror with my hand, breaking it. After about an hour and a half of trying, I manage to operate the lock switch. One direction - no result The other direction - no result So I go for the window switch and finally get into the truck. Customer upset over Taco Bell "sauce wisdoms" Tuesday, June 06, 2006 Posted: 08:18 PM Link' WESLACO – One Valley woman says the slogan on Taco Bell’s sauce packets is offensive. As part of Taco Bell’s “Think outside the bun” campaign, the company held a contest last year for slogans to be printed on their sauce packets. Customers submitted their ideas, like “When I grow up I want to be a waterbed” and “You had me at taco”. The one that bothers Jessica Luna says, “Not to be used as a flotation device”. She tells NEWSCHANNEL 5, “Somewhere along their roots here, somebody came across the border from Mexico. Risking their lives to provide a better a life for their…

Well I have a confession, when I drive now in the USA, if you own a foreign vehicle that is not badged as GM, I will not let you in my lane if you're trying to get over. Also If you drive a foreign vehicle that is not badged as GM I will not stop to help if you are broken down. Last Friday as I tooled around Spartanburg, SC, I came upon a broken down Tundra on the side of the road, I looked over at the guy, we made eye contact, I felt he wanted me to stop, but I drove on. I stuck to my new rule, no GM badge on your car, no help of any kind from me. I'm torn on this new policy of mine because it goes against my upbringing, I'm interested in what you would do. Well yes I am stuck in the 70's with my vinyl record player. I decided to dust it off balance the needle set up the deck and equalizer. Then threw on some old records. I played some Kansas, Eagles, Doors, Cat Stevens, and some Queen. I always never really cared for queen, but after listening to then for a little bit actually the were very talented. Now I am stuck with some songs stuck in my head. Any other 70-80's band you think were talented. Also vinyl record's seem to have a unique audio tone that has never been masted by digital technology but CD's Are 10000000000 times better then vinyl's could ever be.

I'm sure some of you are aware that from time-to-time GM performance parts develops packages for past models to increase performance legally. The kits meet all federal requirements just as the original equiptment did. Installling them voilates no regulations as they are engineered by the OEM to meet all standards. My idea is that GM (and all OEMs for that matter) should develop retrofit kits of this sort to allow existing cars and trucks to run on alternative fuels. This would further the cause of getting alternative fuel infrastructure up and running by expanding the customer base much faster. The government could help by removing any regulatory roadblocks that migh…

I was on vacation in late May / early June. I will be relocating in 1 year. I walked into an open house for a townhome. It was a very nice townhome. I told the lady I wasn't interested, but she got my cell and PO Box....I'm quite a ways from her geographically, anyway. I had never heard of this car, the 1986 Buick LeSabre Grand National: http://www.lesabret-type.com/LeSabreGN.html Exactly What is a LeSabre Grand National? Many do not even know that Buick Division of General Motors produced the Grand National on a platform other than on the Regal but there was a very unique Grand National built in late1985 – the 1986 LeSabre Grand National. 117 (or 112) copies were built to qualify the new, first year 1986 LeSabre FWD Coupe body for NASCAR competition. The main reason for building the 1986 LeSabre Grand National was to get the new body with modified rear quarter windows sanctioned for Winston Cup racing that year. The modified …

I've been thinking lately - I can't wait for Ford to fold. The sooner they do, the less likely it is that GM will do the same. The UAW will have to make some kind of concession if Ford folds. Maybe then GM could compete. Would this work? Will it come to this? What do you think?

This should be easy. There are tons of great car movies to choose from - Fast and Furious, Death Race, Smokey and the Bandit, Christine. I'm going to go for an obscure, GenX horror flick a la Spielberg's Dual. The name of the movie, fittingly, is simply "The Car." James Brolin starred as a Western sheriff tasked with protecting his community from a possessed, driverless car. Very cool flick. What's your favorite?

Republicans Grow Skeptical On Free Trade By JOHN HARWOOD Link October 4, 2007; Page A1 WASHINGTON -- By a nearly two-to-one margin, Republican voters believe free trade is bad for the U.S. economy, a shift in opinion that mirrors Democratic views and suggests trade deals could face high hurdles under a new president. The sign of broadening resistance to globalization came in a new Wall Street Journal-NBC News Poll that showed a fraying of Republican Party orthodoxy on the economy. While 60% of respondents said they want the next president and Congress to continue cutting taxes, 32% said it's time for some tax increases on the wealthiest Americans to redu…

The wife anad I are currently reviewing our financial status and trying to decide what is the amount we are comfortable paying per month for a new vehicle when the Envoy lease expires soon (August). Of course small and cheap would be best (a loan amount not exceeding $20K), but there isn't much out there she likes at that loan amount (she really wants a 2008 Enclave, CTS, S40/V50, or a VUE, just so you know). We don't have a large enough down payment, so even looking at a $23-$24K MSRP would be stretching it. She's not fond of the Malibu ( ), so don't suggest that, and we already are leasing an AURA, so that's out of the question. Anyway, as we were talking yester…

The cost of Burger King's chicken fries, that is. I swear, they used to be less than $4.50... Now in some places they are up to $5.60. I don't think the cost of a crate of live chicken has gone up any. The King is greedy and just wants to take advantage of the fright from bird flu. I'm going to have to switch fast-food restaurants. BK's tasty chicken fries turn me into a chicken guzzler. If I switch to Mcdonald's, which are much less tasty, I'll ween myself off chicken and eventually become a vegetarian. It's the trend of the future. We need to save all of our chicken before bird flu makes them extinct. Think of the food chain.

I really want this. I know this is a bad time for me to buy it, since I'm marching right into my exams. But it's too hard to resist, some the cars: Camaro Z28, Firebird, Saturn Sky, the Goat, and later probably the CTS-V, Cobalt SS and even the Solstice. I can already imagine myself cruising with the top down in a Sky.

One of my helpers recently killed his Acura and I'm trying to help him find the ultimate "Granny car". Almost had an '88 Olds 88 today that only had 29k miles on it! While we were stuck in traffic on our way there, the guy sold the car! I was less than happy. If you are local, and know of a car like this let me know. Ugly and faded are just fine, as are garage "love taps" - we are just hunting cheap, bulletproof and low-miles.

I don't even know if anyone on here will remember me, but I used to be a frequent guest. I still check in on the topics from time to time, but find myself not having the time to respond to anything! LOL When I started contributing to Cheers and Gears, I was in car sales for GM, later went on to be a Subprime Lender, then Lease Manager, and now Business Manager, at a Chev Pontiac Buick GMC Store. I still learn a ton from reading the posts on this site. Anyway, just wanted to say hi....

I've done a search and couldn't find any topic on E85, so I have to ask is there anybody using E85? We recently got an E85 pump at a Kroger gas station in Carrollton Texas. It's running $2.52 per gallon. The brochure states it's 100+ octane, but I haven't been able to tell any difference in power or otherwise since I've been using it. This is my 3rd tank and I have noticed a drop in MPG.....around 3-4 mpg less for city driving. Haven't been on a trip so I can't speak for hwy/mpg, but I could manage 20 mpg/hwy on regular...between 65-70 mph. The brochures they put out are pretty cool.. It says: The American Fuel....Fuel from the midwest not the mideast. So far…

My current daily driver (as most of you know) is a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3. Recently I ran across a Trans Am that looks to be in my price range (finally) So, I'm going to drive the Pontiac tomorrow and if I can swing it I *might* trade. But I'm really attached to the Focus and it's excellent gas mileage. THE BREAKDOWN 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 * 2.0L DOHC I-4/ 5 speed manual * 84,900 miles * Excellent gas mileage/Generally fun to drive * Paid off in roughly 2 years * Positive equity 1998 or 1999 (Not sure which) Pontiac Trans Am * LS1/ 6 speed manual * 85,000 miles * All the options including leather * $8900 takes it home * Not a WS6 unfortunately The main thing about…

Question for C&Gers. How do you personally define being a man? Just read an interesting book about boys which had as a Thesis that boys today lack positive male role models and have trouble defining what it means to be a man. The book got me thinking. So: How do you define being a man? To our younger members-do you find a lack of older men that you look up to? Do you agree or disagree with the idea that there are few positive male role models? Do you think todays definition of manhood is different than your fathers? To our gay members-a serious question-how do young gay teens/young gay adults adjust to manhood? Do you think manhood is defined differentl…

Well I know theres not to many metal heads here but I wanted to tell everyone I went to see Queensryche Operation Mindcrime in its new entirity Thursday night, at Albanys old Palace Theater. Not the best place acoustically for heavy music. I saw Rush and Blue Oyster Cult there twice 30 years ago and the place just boomed, resonating on a certain bass frequency in the Balcony, but they were very loud concerts. People like Santana, Robert Cray, Jean Luc Ponty, Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer and even Uriah Heep did much better acoustically. Anyhow the Queensryche soundman did an excellent job considering and it was not stageringly loud. We abaondoned the balcony and went downstairs w…

I was just thinking the other day about one of my favorite cars and of all my cars i have been through i think my favorite cars was my 1980 Oldsmobile Omega 2 door with the iron duke in a deep black. I remember beating it to death and jumping it off of rail road tracks with friends. I also remember rebuilding the engine when i blew it up. I sold it to my neighbor at the time (1989 ish) for i think $150. The body was still clean and straight. I wish I would of kept that car. Just bored here so i figure i would ask you guys about one of your favorite cars you have ever owned either current or in the past.

So I think it's finally time to upgrade my computer. I haven't done anything to it since I built it after all, and the 7950 GX2 is showing its age. I've been shopping around lately for a good replacement that $200 or under. EVGA 896-P3-1262-AR GeForce GTX 260 Superclocked Edition 896MB Seems to be a nice combination of performance and value. However I'm open to other options if anyone's got some to recommend, since I'm just shopping around at the moment.

Darn it, I need to apologize to those I've offended here in The Lounge lately. Here I am, moaning about all the malaise that has spilled into our little "escape pod" on the 'net, and I've been adding to it myself. I really want to get away from all the negativity that has plagued The Lounge lately. It's bad enough to hear of the latest seemingly insurmountable challenge befalling our beloved GM and the rest of the domestic auto industry in the rest of C&G, but to me, this part of the forum should be a safe haven from "The World" and all its harsh realities.

Thanks to the Internet Archive Wayback Maching you can see C&G over the years. Not every thread works, but you can see back to when I objected to the Cobalt name because it seemed like GM just went through a Crayola box. I still feel that way.

So I went to a Christian rock concert tonight because a friend of mine wanted to go since he really likes the band that played. They're a local band that isn't really known outside of central Iowa. I had a couple drinks over at another friend's apartment and then went over with him to the frat where they were playing. So we're at the concert and there's probably 150-200 people there. The band starts to play its first song that sounds like it was ripped off a Rage Against the Machine album. Then they move onto the next song that sounds like something Linkin Park would play. Cut/copy/paste riffs, hoarse growling vocals, and the lead singer was jum…

When I was younger, I was an introvert. I had very few friends ... and didn't feel well liked, if even liked at all. Within the last few years, however, that has changed ... dramatically. I am now an extrovert. Yet, my current job (call center rep for an annuity contact center) is changing me back to an introvert. Most of the callers are unhappy about one thing or another (understandably, of course) ... and that grates on my nerves so much so that I have yet to go to a local cruise night this year. It doesn't help that I'm "tied to the desk" 24/7 while I'm at work. I get home and don't want to do anything; haven't even had the older 4 MCs out much this year. I cri…

This beautiful day, I want to go driving. With the windows down, and the warm breeze. A day to forget all the ugly things going on in this country, all this sudden destruction of our stylish industry... the automobile. It has gone from a loved part of life to an evil that some people want to see destroyed. That destruction is here, big, terrible and bright. The other side, the aftermath, looks bleak and cold from my desk. So I'm going driving. It could be to the beach, or to the city. I don't know yet. But I'll take my camera.

So, we did want gays in the military...just not ours. -------- Pentagon Confirms It Sought To Build A 'Gay Bomb' Jun 8, 2007 9:03 pm US/Pacific (CBS 5) BERKELEY A Berkeley watchdog organization that tracks military spending said it uncovered a strange U.S. military proposal to create a hormone bomb that could purportedly turn enemy soldiers into homosexuals and make them more interested in sex than fighting. Pentagon officials on Friday confirmed to CBS 5 that military leaders had considered, and then subsquently rejected, building the so-called "Gay Bomb." Edward Hammond, of Berkeley's Sunshine Project, had used the Freedom of Information Act to obtain a copy of …

Going up to Lake Tahoe last weekend, I was able to marvel (for the umpteenth time) at its dramatic beauty. The fact that it could snow at a moment's notice and one would have to chain up put me in an "eh" mood. I was thinking: "there's no way I could live up here." Today, I was cleaning up and looking at post cards I collect. The common denominator: at least 95% of them are beach or port scenes. Besides, granolas and ex-hippies take refuge in mountain towns. They don't gravitate to the beach as readily. That being said, if I had to pick "beach" or "mountains" to hang my hat year round, it would be "beach." What about you?

...here I come? I've always wanted to visit Cali, for at least a few years now. I'm sitting there at work today though, and it hit me that I'd love to hit many of the places California has to offer: Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Redwood Forest, drive the PCH, etc. My mom keeps wanting to go to the Carolinas and/or Florida, but we've been to both. Why not Cali? Because I think my parents are afraid of flying although they won't admit to it. But, now I've got questions to ask of you guys.. I'm hoping to convince my parents to go sometime next year, in 2008. However, before I present the proposition to them, I want some core facts on dates, costs, and a good overall vacation…

There are some funny moments like when the author describes why people over react to gas prices. Fun segment in my opinion.

Jet...agricultural...biplane... Good for a whole 100mph. The plane it was designed to replace was a 1946-vintage prop biplane (the AN-2) that is still being used today. The same people who built that (PZL) built this... ...a twin-engine bomber leftover from an airliner proposal built so poorly the Polish national airline rejected it. It was also made of so many different materials that it split apart in midair on a demonstration flight carrying prospective Romainian buyers. The 'improved' version had a new tail design so heavy it couldn't carry bombs and gear retractors so weak it flew with the wheels down. And it crashed, too. They also built this... ...which …
