As I'm sure you guys know by now, it's been a rough year for me financially. There simply isn't any work. I've hung on about as long as I could, but things have reached the breaking point and I have to get something going. So,this is what I think I'll do tomorrow. The plan is to put all of my vehicles up for sale and withdraw the last driveable one when the time comes. That means I'll end up keeping the Silverado, the wagon, or the Blazer for a bit. I'm thinking of pricing them like this: Blazer - $2,000 (not negotiable) Mothertruck - $4,500 including thousands in new parts Camino + parts Camino + thousands in new parts for resto $4,500 Wagon - $4,500 Jag - $1,500 …

http://jalopnik.com/5491612/pussy-wagon-stars-in-new-lady-gaga-music-video If you have ears you've probably heard a thousand Lady Gaga songs. Or at least you've heard one song a thousand times. And because her very NSFW video "Telephone" co-stars the "Kill Bill" Pussy Wagon you'll now know another song. This could be the actual Silverado SS Pussy Wagon from the Kill Bill series or a detailed replica, but who really cares as long as it's P***Y Magnet Yellow?

I just put an ad in the local issue of Auto Locator for my truck, a classified ad magazine available at most newsstands. $34 for two weeks, it comes out weekly. I have to wait for it to be approved Monday morning for publication in the next issue, and inclusion in their online classifieds. I need bites!

so i guess, im thinking ahead, but i need to get everything in order. heres the low down, my wife wants a new car, i told her when i come back from this deplyoment we'd start looking. currently she is driving an 00 honda civic 4 dr. she has always wanted to get a bmw. she doesnt really care to much which kind, just a bmw. although the car will be for her, i would rather have a g8. does this seem like a winable arguement. seeing that pontiac is supposed to be the american bmw, and the g8 is in some terms considered the 5 series fighter, what points can be considered better product on the g8 over a bmw (3 series, cause i cant afford a 5.) lets say for comparison …

It looks like a bunch of us have bought new cars lately and as we get closer to a big event, I would like to include our own purchases in a write up I'm going to publish. So if you would please: List any and all new vehicles purchased while being a member of C&G. Certified Pre-Owned from the same manufacturer's dealer is cool too, just mark the car with (CPO). If you have a family/friend member that bought a new car and selected partially from your recommendation, include that car too and include the relationship to you. For example: Myself 2004 Cadillac CTS (New) Mother 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch (CPO) Co-Worker 2005 Pontiac Vibe (New)

Following up on our recent thread regarding cars you've bought since you've been on Cheers & Gears lets look ahead to cars you'd like to (realistically buy) You can include you're family as well. I currenty don't have a car since I live in Queens but if I can justify it or if i move to an area where it makes more sense to have a car I desperatley want a 2013 Mustang GT. If I get a big promotion I'm hoping for in the next year I might just go ahead and do it regardless of the logic involved. I'd get a GT premium manual with the track and brembo pack, manual and navagation. My parents love their 2010 fusion but they might consider trading it in on an escape 2.0 T …

I have always wanted to know who this song was about. I have a guess,do you? Once carried through the current And been swept away The king is in the closet He's hiding from today And though he owns all fortunes This is where he'll stay And his world is filled with darkness Turning grey Gazing out the window Of the 42nd floor He is separate from all others No one knocks upon his door And it might as well be raining Cuz the sunlight hurts his eyes And his ears will never hear the children's cries Once proud and full of passion He fought the cause of man Many people loved his courage Many followed his command He changed the old into the new And the cour…

Check out this custom one-off. 1929 Ford with an early 90s 1st gen. Q45 motor transplant. It predated the Lexus hot rod by a few years but I never heard of it until just now when I found it on some random Infiniti forum. Later on as shown here it was obviouslt deemed cool enough by the powers that be at Nissan & Infiniti to dipslay at the show next to a 2nd gen. Q45 in the 97-01 era. Actaully that looks like a 99-01 Touring edition in the back ground.

I guess I'm kind of picky when it comes to coffee. Certain Tim Hortons make it right, and others I've actually brought it back to the counter and told them to make another one that's not burnt. I notice that sometimes I'm drinking the same coffee as others, they don't mind and I do. On the other hand I'm no connisseur either, I won't buy Starbucks coffee (which is just overly bitter anyways). The coffee here at my building sucks. I asked my boss one day how the coffee was when he was drinking it, and he said "Hot and brown". I guess those are the only nice things he could find to say. Somehow a description of coffee that would also fit poop kind of bothers me. So... a…

Well yes I am stuck in the 70's with my vinyl record player. I decided to dust it off balance the needle set up the deck and equalizer. Then threw on some old records. I played some Kansas, Eagles, Doors, Cat Stevens, and some Queen. I always never really cared for queen, but after listening to then for a little bit actually the were very talented. Now I am stuck with some songs stuck in my head. Any other 70-80's band you think were talented. Also vinyl record's seem to have a unique audio tone that has never been masted by digital technology but CD's Are 10000000000 times better then vinyl's could ever be.

Many thanks to Anton, an Autoblog reader from Down Under, who was kind enough to grab a couple of snapshots showing us one of the Queensland Police Department's new highway patrol cars. We've reported on Toyota Australia's TRD Aurion before -- it's basically the Camry we want but can't have. With a much better-looking face and 323 supercharged horses underhood, the Aussie-built sedan is inherently more appealing than the vanillamobile available at our local Toyota stores. And now the fuzz has them, too. Earlier this month, the Queensland police welcomed some of the "regular" Aurions into its white-liveried standard fleet. Our new friend Anton noticed a TRD Aurion dresse…

I was at the grocery store and sawr a maroon Focus sedan, a few years old, with two bumper stickers, I was hoping someone, somewhere, may have an idear what they mean: one was a strip, about a foot wide and less than an inch tall, with all the colors of the rainbow. The other was white lettering on a green background, with a word I've been unable to find in Webster's: "VAGINATARIAN". I'm usually pretty good with words, but this has me stumped. Any idears?

I can't remember who all here is in the auto sales business, but I believe Carbiz is? Anyway, I am looking at a 2001 Lincoln LS V8 that goes for about $8870 according to Kelly Blue Book. However, most of the same year / features / similar mileage that I've seen are between $7900 and $8500 (the $7900 is a private seller). The salesman that I am going through at a local F-L-M dealership is asking $8700, which my uncle (who owns a used car business and goes to auto auctions all the time) says is on the high side. He also says that KBB values are usually overinflated. My question is, what size profit margin would the dealer be expecting on this car? I realize they ca…

Talking about my trip to China in the other thread: Buick bucks the trend reminded me of a question I had for Josh, or rather a kind of challenge. Now, I don't pick up regularly by any stretch of the imagination, but I was just wondering if I had one thing up on Josh: Have you ever picked up a girl who doesn't speak English? It's fun, you can't talk about anything, you just have to do it and hope she likes it.

So I was walking back to my car from a sports bar last night after watching the Patriots lay an egg, and a car pulled over in front of me with something truly bizarre: two sets of license plates. It was a Crown Victoria, but as far as I could tell it wasn't a cop. It was sporting perfectly regular Virginia and DC license plates (ie, not official plates or anything) mounted right next to each other on the front bumper, and on the back one plate was in the regular holder and the other was on the bumper. Is this guy just a thief? Under what circumstances would this be allowed?

Would there still be any interest in certain circles of enthusiasts for original parts catalogs on microfiche, or has the internet's easy access of information pretty much killed said interest? I remember a time not so long ago when people would search high and low for the little envelopes full of slides, but is that still true today? The reason I ask is I have some that I'm looking to get rid of, but am wondering what would be a reasonable price to ask for it all.

I definitely stole this from Autoblog but I thought it was a great little topic. I know it GREATLY varies based on the vehicle itself because a 5500lb SUV/Truck will need more power than a sub 3000lb car. With that said.. For the "average" 3000-4000lb vehicle I think I would want minimum 200-250hp as a daily. Something that can achieve nothing less than a 15.5 second quarter mile. I know that involves more than just hp but as it's been stated hp isn't everything. I will always want something a little fun even though a slow 15.5 isn't anything special it is quick enough to pass on demand, have a little fun with hard launches, and not aggravate me. As the vehicle …

Why is it that trains back in the 30s and 40s and I think even up through the 60s had a streamlined body that has now been reverted to a boxy, rectangular one? It just seems odd that the trains that influenced cars like the Lincoln Zephyr due to their sculpting and aerodynamics are now just rolling blocks that really don't have much in the way of design to them. Did this happen because trains lost their importance so train companies didn't want to waste the money "designing" them or hiring people to design them? The same thing has happened with buses. ISU has a few old GMC buses running around that have some curves and aerodynamics to them compared to the Gillig and O…

OK, so mom is possibly looking for a new car (her current '93 Maxima is starting to break down on a regular basis, and repairs aren't cheap), and was looking at her replacement options. She doesn't have much to spend - about $7K. She's always driven domestics until this Maxima, and she's liked the way this car drove, if not the reliability. She'd been contemplating an older Camry or Accord, but wasn't overly impressed with either one. She'd even considered a RAV4 or a CR-V, but doesn't necessarily need an SUV and prefers a car with a little more oomph. I'd like to recommend a Regal to her. Before I head to some cesspool like Yahoo Answers, I figured I'd try my question here. I'm working on a wheel safety booklet for a heavy equipment company. If a worker fails to deflate a tire before maintenance, it can explode and send them flying a considerable distance - in some cases, hundreds of feet. I have a chart of commonly used tire sizes, each with a 'energy ft/lbs' figure. For example, a 40 x 57 tire has 807,218 ft/lbs of energy when cold. What I'd like to know, is if anyone here knows if I can parallel these numbers with something a lay-person can understand. For example, if I can state something along the lines of a certain tire possessing the …

As some of you may already know, I'm looking to replace the stock 16" six-spoke rims on my IS300 (which aren't in the best shape to begin with) with the more attractive (but still stock) 17" five spoke rims. The replacements in question come in silver, graphite, and chrome finishes. I'm interested in the latter two (the graphite finish in particular looks great with my car's color, charcoal grey). I've always loved the look of the five-spoke IS300 rims, which became standard in '02 (mine's an '01 <_<), as they fit the car perfectly. While I don't agree with, I at least get your stance on FWD, Transverse engines, B-pillars and manual transmissions..... the one I don't get is your aversion to uni-body. There were a few uni-body cars that I'm sure would suit all the rest of your requirements quite nicely.... so I'm curious if your hatred of uni-body would be directed at them as well. I could totally see you pulling one of these out of a barn somewhere to use as a daily driver, yet they're all unibody.

I just read the line in Sixty8's sig that reads: "In fact, did you know a Chevrolet (small block) V8 with no oil in it and no water in it will last about two hours before it disintegrates? We did it twice. The first time it lasted an hour and 15 minutes and the second time it lasted two hours." It reminded me of something my Physics teacher said he learned from an engineer. That a 60s Muscle Car lets off more emissions while not running than a new car does turned on?

Does anybody have the slightest clue as to what this little knob is below the oil/engine light? I tried to pull/push/turn it...nothing happens. BTW, this is when I first opened the car after 3 years of sitting outside.

What do the Ford Fiesta, Chevrolet Camaro, Infiniti Q50, Mercedes Benz CLS63 AMG, Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe, and Toyota Yaris all have in common? When you get that one, you'll get the answer to this one also.. What do the Aston Martin DB9 and Scion iQ have in common? Ready for a 3rd? What do the Chevrolet Sonic, Buick Regal, Lexus LS460, and Bentely Mulsanne have in common? Assume 2015 models for all of the above.

* I have thought about visiting-posting many times the last couple months, but despite having actually drafted a post or 2 [including choice responses in the Random Thoughts Thread], did not. So, why now? To invite you to a gathering I am hosting THIS weekend! Short notice, but sometimes impromptu-spontaneous gatherings are needed. 2 experiences prompted this last-minute decision. First, just over a month go, I found out the restaurant that hosted my MidSummer Chitown Gatherings ~20 years ago is under new ownership interested in hosting events in 2026 [details on those later]. Second, among developing health issues (including a hernia), I had a scare a week or…

Ok, I'm finding this interesting... I'm doing just fine with my laptop, until this: I wanted to add some stuff with a flash drive, and it asks me for software to install. I'm like - my flashdrives don't have software-they are just plug and play ones.... I tried 3 of them, same problem-won't even let me to them. This is my first time with Vista though-is there something I'm missing? A buddy of mine has Vista and has had no issues like this...Heck, I haven't put much of anything on it yet....

I'm hoping someone on here is into computers and can help. I want to check out GMC and Buick's websites and since they have something being run thru Quicktime, my computer will not show it. All I get is the little Quicktime symbol...the little film real clip with a 'Q' in the center. I'm certain this is a simple adjustment needed to my computer settings, but I have no idea. I checked my internet settings and don't see anything listed for Quicktime, but all but 1 item was checked off under multimedia. The wierd thing is I have been able to watch other Quicktime movies on this computer. Why does it seem to hang up on the GMC and Buick?

After 10 years of dealing with Property Management in one way or another, I'm finally out. I start working for UPS next Monday. I can only say AHHHHHHH. Relief . . . It will be a big jump, as I will be working part time for UPS until I can go driver (short on money for a while). It's sad really, UPS drivers make more Property Manager's of 300+ unit communities, and don't put in the amount of hours, or have 1/4 of the stress. To add to the changes in our house this month; 1. We've sold old Blue (1991 Suburban) 2. Big Red (1999 Suburban) is for sale 3. We've been submitted for the adoption of 2 boys 4. We've just closed on the refi of our home (up over $7…

I've mentioned this before, but I recently moved to Washington DC to start work. Today I decided to go to the Pentagon City Fashion Centre, which is a gigantic mall next to the Pentagon (duh). As I was about to turn into the parking garage, I noticed a black sign propped up in the median saying "Cadillac Event" with an arrow pointing straight. Obviously, I had to check out what it was. I drove to the other side of the block to discover 3 big Cadillac tents and a bunch of SRXs and competing cars parked on the side of the road. I discover that GM is hosting a "drive the SRX against the X5, RX, and GLK" day, and as long as you have a license you're free to drive each one …

We've got dozens of other dumb threads, why not another? This thread is dedicated to those little quotes that make your day. Maybe someone says something so stupid, it makes you smile to think about it. Maybe its something so profound, or maybe its something so insanely funny that you think you're going to asphyxiate from laughing. Here is mine: "Why? I dont even like camping" --A girl I know after I told her she was getting a dutch oven for her birthday.

I swear, we have the worst luck with bottom feeders. We've been through 3 so far this year. I'm not sure what the issue is. Tested the water, everything was good. It was treated with medication shortly after we got our last Pleco. Temperature is in the right range, salt levels are good. This one turned up dead yesterday. I'd never seen the other fish pick on/at it, and it showed no signs of being attacked when I found it...although by teh time I got it out of teh water they had picked at it... Meanwhile, the two Silver Tips "Sharks" are happy as can be. Weird.

R.I.P. Hugh Hefner 91 Playboy Founder Plenty of news, so sad but Hefner is dead. Guy started the main stream of porn, boys fantasy and the Bunny clubs. He has in one way or another touched so many people with his image of life and woman and how it spun off the start of Playgirl. May he rest in peace! So did Playboy have any affect on your life growing up? First place I fell in love with Asian Woman. Thanks Hef! Sound Off, Did Playboy have any affect on you growing up?

I like potholes, I really do...especially the ones on the Lucerne..in fact I wouldn't even mind a set and I don't mind if people do it to there cars if done right. A dark blue 300C with 4 ventiports on each side that looked like arrow heads is cool. But this...is just stupid. Those round aftermarket ones...I see them everywhere. 4 on each side of a 4-banger 90's Accord, 3 on each side of a new 4-banger Camry..and the worst by far... 4 of them on each side of a 90's A4 and another 4 on the rear lower bumper. Do people even know what they mean when they slap these things on? According to this guy his older A4 was packing a W12 or something.

Here's the video that accounts my time spent in the Audi R8, back in July. It works best if you click "play", then "pause" and let it load completely before viewing. Cory/R8 by Mark Dowdell To check in, I've been busy lately, so my actual R8 pics aren't quite finished. They shouldn't be much longer, though. I'm just too indecisive when it comes to sorting out the photos to pick out the best and bring it down to a decent sized set. Multiple pics of a single scene will do that. After that, I have my Cook Forest State Park pics to start on, hopefully before the leaves hit their peak this Fall. I need to get out and make sure I get lots of fall pictures.

UNDATED -- A 96-year-old Florida man is recovering after an otter went on the attack. Morrie Denton said he was just out for a stroll when the animal struck. "I just looked down on the ground and I saw this little animal walking across and he walked real slow like," Denton said. Denton said without warning, near a wetland area, an otter clamped down on his ankle. Two good Samaritans came to the elderly man's aid, but the otter then turned its focus on them. "After he grabbed me by the foot and I fell, he was all over me, on this hand and then on this one,” Denton said. A good Samaritan stopped to help Denton, but struggled to pull the otter off. Passerby Chris Jans…

Does any of you play any racing video games/simulators? Which ones? I understand that most of the posters here are old f@rts (not that I am young myself to be honest), but I was wondering if any of you play. Just recently got for my son's birthday Playstation 4 and was considering getting a wheel and pedal setup to play Project Cars 2.

Do any of you guys and gals own/use a radar detector? I just decided to treat myself to a late xmas gift and got this I found it on sale on another site for $279 with free shipping, so thats a savings of $190. According to tracking it should arrive today and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm not as much of a speeder as I used to be, but still having peace of mind when I do decide to cruise at 80 on the highway is always nice

It seems like everyone are now pushing out playing MP3s from CDs, some with DVD support. Seeing Infiniti and Chrysler starting to push out radios with hard drives, that does sound like the way to go. Automotive systems seems to be gettin more sophisticated as well, but Delphi seems to be slow on these technologies. Well, I have some ideas which I thought about, and probably I'll realize one as my fourth year project: 1. Removable portable storage for multimedia and driver's information This system will consist of a removable storage, e.g. USB key, flash card, etc., that plugs into the console. The new G35 has this. My idea is to have a multifunction USB key that att…

Doesn't apply to nav radios, but plain jane ones. I always find writing English on the buttons was rather stupid, especially when they want to go global. I much prefer the ones we have up here in Canada, where we replace all English with icons. Also troublesome is that last time I saw a nice six disc changer unit for cheap, but I couldn't get it because all the buttons were different, and if I install it, it would look odd. Why don't they just make one radio with different firmware for metric and imperial units, and bother with the buttons?? Waste of development costs if you ask me.

One thing I've never understood. How can people who are clearly in the wrong return the finger? I was biking today and got cut off by someone who just had to slam on the brakes at the stop light anyways. I let her have it through the open window and gave her the finger. She returned it and truly enraged me. Took everything in me not to beat the living crap out of her in front of her kids. I don't get it - why risk this? I'm clearly already enraged by her, why would she want to make it worse?

It's been a crummy week, that's for sure. Today I was planning to go to the parts stores and get some prices on a tie rod puller and a torque wrench, and see if buying them plus the bushings would be cheaper than having the shop doing the inner tie rod bushing for the Intrepid. At about 12:30 I head out. Since the Prizm was across the street out front (and I had yanked the starter relay out of the Intrepid and forgot it) I figured I'd take that. I walk over to it and unlock the door and notice something sitting on the center console. Open it up and come to find that someone had broken the rear quarter window, broken the center stack bezel, and ripped out the cheap Son…

Have you ever owned a vehicle that you were just about to the point of actually paying someone to take it off your hands? That's the relationship I have with my truck. I hate the uncomfortable seats; I hate the depressing gray on gray on gray on gray on gray on gray interior; I hate the unconnected handling; I hate the mushy ride. I especially hate the performance; I'm beginning to hate the styling; I hate the clunky gearbox; I hate the lack of interior space; I hate the color that's impossible to keep clean. It broke down on me going to work one morning early this month and I honestly couldn't care less to try and have whatever is wrong with it fixed. It's past due f…

Horrible episode the other night in town. Stopped at a red light, crotch rocket in front of me first in line, cars behind me. Moron on said rocket decides to do a burnout to show off for some chicks on the sidewalk. He proceeds to blast the whole front of my vehicle with bits of burnt rubber and engulfs me in tire smoke. I could hear the crap pelting the car. So when the light turned green I gunned it and followed him, raging. I passed him and cut him off immediately before another red light. He pulled up beside me and starts to get testy, so I let him have a verbal barrage of my own. When the light turned green he kicked the side of my car and took off. Next red…

Yesterday I was driving, approaching an intersection. I had the green light. A Mitsu Galant approached from my right at the intersection, at the red light, pulling up past the white line. I noticed she had a cell phone to her left ear. She gave a quick glance my way, then pulled out right in front of me (requiring me to brake pretty hard to avoid hitting her stupid ass). She then got into the left lane beside me, in the right lane. I saw an opportunity. Her right side front window was down half way. I gunned the Sierra, pulled up next to her, rolled my window down and yelled "GET OFF THE PHONE AND DRIVE, BITCH!" She responded with a smug glance and a middle fin…

On Thursday night coming home from mom's a new Honda Odyssey pulled out in front of me and almost got blasted in the ass. I had to slam on my brakes. It was full of people too. What did they do? They waved at me. I saw like four arms upraised, waving happily. Don'tcha hate it when someone who's in the wrong just laughs at you, or worse... gives YOU the finger? Do tell.
