Well with Election Season climaxing and important people being everywhere I was approached to Strap on the Vest and load some shells. Its funny how they won't leave me alone. Tomorrow i go to see if I'm still good enough. I really didn't want to do this at all. Ever since last winter when I was close to dieing, It hasn't appealed to me again. The Tone of there voice suggested that I had no option though. So I'm Dusting off the Scope and Cleaning the M-82. I have to hit 6 objects at 500+ yards with in 30 seconds. sounds like a cake walk. The pay is crazy. I mean its just weird. For an Event Its $8,000 if something goes down and no important people get hurt its $22,000. …

Yes, Solitaire. It is a great boredom relieving exercise. Seriously... for those of us who have no life and have a fear of boredom, post your highest Solitaire score. Yes, I seriously serious. So... post them so we can laugh at each other in pity and see who gets the title for being the biggest lifeless loser. 6366 in 120 seconds. Don't you just love it when you had plans to do something (like a trip or something) and someone bails out and cancels at the VERY last minute? So either you do what you had planned alone or not even bother. Granted sometimes they've canceled because something tragic or important happen that I can understand, but when they cancel because "they don't feel like it" just... I don't know why, but crap like this happens to me all the time and it's not with just one friend in particular it's with quite a few of them. I'm not someone who gets pissed off often but this is one of the little things that grate on my nerves.

I just picked up this latest issue. Of great interest (to me at least) is a nice big article on the genesis and styling evolution of the 1977 GM fullsizers. This first round of modern GM downsizing was a spectacular success, followed in 1978 by another successful round when the A- and A-Special cars were made smaller. In 1979, the E-body cars were done, another success, imo. After that, things went downhill for GM, imo, as continued downsizing and the wholesale switch to FWD platforms reached a ridiculous fever pitch that GM has never fully recovered from until very recently. My hopes for GM's future have been high for the last few years, but are starting another dow…

1982 CJ8 Scrambler - $9500 (Orlando) condition: good 1982 Jeep CJ8 manual transmission title : clean 1982 Jeep Scrambler. If you are looking for a short description of the beast pictured here, I can offer you two words "MEAT & POTATOES". This is the All American chariot of the free world. This is no ordinary cookie cutter Jeep. This thing was forged from a single block of Tungsten Steel. I wasn't looking for a rice burning hatch back, a solar powered liberal mobile, or even a Hyundai crossover, this beast is a piece of red white and blue Americana Machinery. This baby's pulse is pumping uncensored raw fuel through her 4.2 liter straight six nuclear pow…

http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?arti...281474977067637 Got that in an e-mail this morning. How would we go about disproving a few of the broad, sweeping statements made; particularly the ones where American car manufacturers can't handle costs, blah blah blah. You can tell people facts all day long but they just jump up and down and point to back issues of Consumer Reports, so I need hard facts in black & white (newspaper articles, etc.) to forward this back to all the people it's gone to.

Insured and re-registered the Grand Marquis Monday, got a battery for it today. Duralast Gold. It was about 20 degrees and it hadn't been started or taken around the block in at least a month. It was 22 degrees. Fired right up, took it for a 10 mile drive through traffic, back roads, and some highway. Works like a champ. Next week it's getting a "new" transmission.

I'm going to have to buy a truck... not that it wasn't fun to get the rental filthy driving this... This is from my trip this week to the Idaho Falls, ID area, where I will be moving in a couple weeks. First, you drive along seeing pretty much nothing but this... Then you suddenly come to this... What's this? A road? SWEEEET! Just to clarify... It gets better, you can drive up another road to the other side, or follow along the bottom of the ravine. From the other side: Road along the bottom: The area I'll be living in is flat, but is right beside the foothills to the rockies. This was barely getting into rolling hills, not even the foothills, l…

Well, I went and got screwed out of $9 last night to see the new Zombie flick. I give it a 3 out of 10... It's not true to the original concept, the acting sucks and the story is BOR-ING. It's basically "The Devil's Rejects" with different characters and a more boring concept. Don't get me wrong; I LOVE Rob Zombie and I'm a HUGE fan of House of 1000 Corpses (Hence my avatar) but it seems that he's starting to lose it (Especially on the movie side)

* WORD MATH: Not having enough energy + drugs = too much thinking time My energy level is starting to increase (as evidenced by a 3-day stretch where I had 2 days of "Nephew Time" and 1 day "out" at my Aunt/Uncle's house for the midday hours), so I can HOPEFULLY get a few things done soon, before I go to work in about a month. Which also means ... less "online" time. It's not good to wonder "what if" OR torture oneself with "if I only knew then what I know now" OR consider what you might do given a "do over" chance. Yet, sometimes the mind just wanders to those ... and it's hard to stop it, particularly when the drugs are doing most of the talking. I don't have any…

So I picked this album up, and I think it's an awesome effort. I suppose I'm a bit biased, because I'm a huge Kelly Hansen fan because of his previous band Hurricane, and his stint in Unruly Child, as well as being involved in a bunch of tribute albums. Jeff Pilson's involvement as bassist, and backing vocals only seals the deal. How about the rest of you? Awesome effort? Or is it nothing without Lou?

I know GM has made some 10 bad mistakes in the past: 1.Arrogance. 2.The Phase Out Of Oldsmobile. 3.The Addition of SAAB. 4.Pontiac,BUICK,GMC dealers(how about Pontiac,Chevrolet Dealers, GMC,Hummer and Buick,Cadillac Dealers?) 5.Bad styling. 6.The AZTEK. 7.GEO Prisim/Toyota Corolla/Pontiac Vibe. 8.Lack of investment in Saturn Products(post 1996). 9.Over Compensation. 10.Layoffs. But can these be reversed? Some Maybye, others, no. I get a chuckle every time I hear Pontiac,Buick,GMC dealers. Maybye its that Pontiac is associated with Buick, and that could draw away customers from the Octogenarians choice, and Hummer with Cadillac? I mean, when I think o…

Ok, I'm debating if it is time for a new 3rd car...... Have now: 93 Cavalier wagon, 3.1, 135k, needs new-gas tank(maybe line also) EGR. Rusty, but for the most part, very trusty... Considering: 98 Mailbu,3.1, 72k good shape for age..newer alt, runs pretty good.. dealership wants $4900...should be ablr to talk them into the low 4s.... Could get 600-700 for the wagon....and put a little cash down too... I was planning to fix the wagon, but this had me thinking: Fix the wagon, or just get the Bu'? What do you think?

A fire fighter is working outside the station when he notices a little girl in a little red wagon with little ladders on the sides, a garden hose coiled in the middle, and wearing a fire fighter's helmet. The wagon is being pulled by her dog and her cat. "That sure is a nice fire truck," the fire fighter says with admiration. "Thanks," the girl says. The fire fighter takes a closer look and notices the girl has tied the wagon to her dog's collar and to the cat's testicles. "Little Partner," the fire fighter says, "I don't want to tell you how to run your rig, but if you were to tie that rope around the cat's collar, I think you could go faster." The little girl …

Did anyone else see it? It was just on CBS. Basically, the Robot goes and gets a bunch of jobs still (this time there are more - it stocks shelves and does a couple more new things), and then at the end it "walks" to the junkyard and sees a big crane putting an old car on top of the scrap heap, and then wakes up. I guess this time they're showing dead cars instead of a robot dying. Hopefully there aren't any complaints this time

So, while looking for crossover leases for my boss, and researching dealer incentives on Edmunds, I decided to see what the SRX had to offer (its probably more than what he wants to spend but I thought maybe there were some good leases...). Anyways, right now there's a $2024 GM to dealer incentive for premium lux V6 models, $900 GM to dealer for AWD on V6 models, and $900 GM to dealer for the rear seat. Before today when the $3000 GM to customer incentive came out, there was also a $2000 GM to dealer incentive for any model SRX (at least V6). There's an SRX that has these options plus the 18" wheel and tire package and white diamond paint at my local dealership right now …

Now in the case of some of these cars here that might be putting it a bit too strongly, after all, it was often the person behind the wheel that was to blame for the reputation attached to the car. Nevertheless we have put together a list of 50 cars that have, perhaps, captured the public’s imagination for all the wrong reasons. Whether by accident, design, or even bad design, the cars we have selected will remain in the public eye for years to come. Today at work, a jerk contractor who is a client for a build-out went off on me for 15 minutes. On M and W, I go in at 6:30 and leave at 3:30 for an evening class I take. He started at 3:12 and it ended at 3:27 pm. What he screamed about was petty. He's this cocky ex-jock type of jerk now in construction management (kind of a typical path, actually) who was pissed because there were 4 minor misinterpretations of what he wanted in his documents. I had an answer for every one of them. I was even big enough to admit I made my own interpretation on some that I didn't know how they would fly. He cooled a little but, in the 2 years I've been at this firm, or in any archi…

EV Trucks / SUVs Designs - New Revolution of Style? With the Detroit auto show and the new trucks and SUV's that are coming out, this had me thinking as many comments especially in regards to the car side has been about how HOMOGENIZED the auto style has become! We have the Pro ICE crowd, Pro EV crowd, Pro all of it crowd and with the discussions, it got me thinking about the fact of truck / SUVs style. It is not a question of if, but when we will see EV trucks / SUVs become part of the blend of options on the dealer lot. EV auto's offer a whole new range of style as unlike ICE auto's that must have the airflow for cooling, EV's are needing a different set …

I just spent 4 miles and about 4 minutes behind a Toyopet Camry that was blocking the passing lane in a 65mph zone, driving about 65/70 and refusing to yield after several motorists flashed their lights, honked horns & even flipped him off. This stretch of highway is usually flowing at about 85mph this time of day, same traffic flow, and all else being the same. Freightliners carrying gasoline tankers & Mack trucks hauling bulldozers were whizzing by him in the center lane while a line of about a dozen cars is behind this inconsiderate prick. Outrageous.

... didn't even have to use my A.K. Okay seriously. We stopped by at Marcia's Grandmother's house and when we were leaving Sofia blew a kiss to Gram in that cute two-year-old-angel kind of way. Gram said she reminded her of the girl (back in the day) who used to blow a kiss at the end of some variety show right after she sang the "See the USA in your Chevrolet". Call me crazy but that made my day. Gram & Gramps (who is now in a home due to his Altzheimer's ) have owned several cars from Chevrolet over the years. As a matter of fact Gram says besides the 1996 Grand Marquis and two late 50s Plymouths they always had Chevrolets. Several Biscaynes/Impalas and then a…

Saved myself about $230, too. Brakes had been jumpy for a while and I was just dealing with it. Its like driving a whole new car! Question though...is it normal for them to smoke a little after use when they're brand new?

These days, all the talk is about how Detroit is losing X amount of market share each year to imports. Well, I did a little thinking about it tonight and have written up this nice little example to show it in a different light of thinking: For simplicity's sake, I'll only deal with 4 companies and small numbers In 1900, there are two companies, GM and Ford. Each company sells 1 car in that year, meaning that they each hold 50% market share. Then in 1950, a newcomer, Mercedes, comes to the US market. While GM and Ford have each sold 10 cars, Mercedes sells 2 cars that year. Calculating that out with 22 cars total for that year, GM's market share is 45%, …

If you’ve noticed my absence for the past week, it’s because I’m returning from a break from C&G. It wasn’t my choice to take the break, though-my home computers and our Verizon FiOS connection decided to. I can’t imagine what could make them block the site for a little over a week and then just resume allowing access to it as normal this morning. I thought that the server finally went down the toilet until I asked my friend to check if his computer would load the site, which he said did “super-fast.” Technology’s a marvelous thing sometimes, no? I’m pissed that I missed the auto show coverage here. After following the NAIAS on Inside Line, Winding Road, and Leftlane …

"GM's future in balance with meeting of CEOs" <---- MSN Today headline WHY, may I ask, does the media always have to put GM in some sort of negative spot? This is utter bull$h!. What about the future of Nissan and Renault? Their "future" is on the other end of the scales... also "in the balance", as it were, yet MSN chooses to single out the world's #1 automaker as somehow weak./RANT!

I hate quarterly deployments. Worked from home for 4 hrs Friday morning, did stuff (laundry, etc) around the house Friday afternoon, been in the office now since Friday 6pm w/ my team doing deployments of applications to production servers (conference call w/ people across 4 US time zones and India). Should have taken an afternoon nap. Hope to go home and get sleep within the next hour...

My daughter sent me this, she said it reminded her when I would let her drive when she was about 7 or 8. She could also tell you every brand of GM vehicles as we passed them when she was about 2. She also says this guy has the same type of Texass accent I have, but I do my best to suppress it. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Beyond the Camaro and the Volt, there seems to be very little to be excited about in the future anymore regarding GM. When you sit down and look at all of the facts and rumors, well, it does look quite depressing over at GM. The Insignia will not be coming to North America unchanged from its Opel form (even though it has been stated that Saturn and Opel will become one and the same); the Beat will not be coming to North America either, only the Trax, despite the concept's popularity here; there has been no back-up plan for Zeta; the W-Body Impala and Cobalt will live on past the end of the decade; Alpha has been delayed six months; future product plans for Pontiac are b…

So I'm looking for photos on Google and I come upon one of my old signatures. The one of a red '59 Electra-225 Riviera from the brochure, I had labeled the corner of it in a very modern font (Geneva?) and so there was no mistaking it. I went to the source site & it's in Hebrew, or it might be Arabic but since there are stars of david for a rating system I'm guessing Hebew. Anyway I notice a few other photos that turn out to be my old signatures and there's that very unique photo I took of that 1966 Corvair that I photographed in Kingston, NH when I was contemplating buying that car. It was the Corvair 4dr hardtop & I opend up both doors and took a high …

Can anyone explain why my connection has headed south literally overnight? Yesterday, I managed to get a decent dial-up connection of around 46.6. Tonight, I've gotten nothing but a lousy 28.8. Usually, disconnecting and reconnecting fixes the problem on the off chance it happens. But now, it's all I get. Running at half-speed just doesn't work. And I can't tolerate a slow connection. Any way I can get my connection back to normal speed? This is getting aggravating. If it helps, here's the Modem Log.

We're all familiar with the best seller's list in the USA, ever wondered what the Best Seller's List in Canada Looks Like? Pretty Different than the USA, Eh. Toyota Camry 8. Hyundai Accent 9. Pontiac G6 10. Ford Focus NON-CAR 1. Ford F150 2. Dodge Caravan 3. Dodge Ram 4. Chevrolet Silverado 5. GMC Sierra 6. Ford Escape 7. Honda CR-V 8. Ford Ranger 9. Same as below, but now my student is looking at used '92-'97 2-door Yukons (and probably Blazers/Tahoes). We found a '95 Yukon SLE 4wd online that he's intetrested in - white w/ blue cloth interior, 107k, used car dealer is asking just shy of $7k. These were my favorites, so I'm gonna be sad if and when he gets it (why? Because I'm not the one buying it! ). Any suggestions on what he should look for when he goes to inspect it? I know '96 & '97s used the Vortec V8 engines... any real advantage over the earlier '92-'95 non-Vortec engines? Also the '92-'95s used the floor shifter to engage the 4wd system, whereas the '96 & '97s could have the optional push-but…
