So I came home from chilling with a few of my friends earlier tonight going my usual route. No big deal, I could drive home from work in my sleep if I had to (and practically have, many times; same route I take to work, practically). So I'm about two blocks or so away from my neighborhood, it's not quite as dense as the center of town is, but it isn't quite residential. Not so many cars on the road seeing as its about ten or so. I'm doing about forty-five, give or take (probably give). A little farther down the road, on the other side there's this large black dog just trotting down the street, probably not paying any mind to where he's going. Suddenly he just darts out…

Seeing how the Wal-Mart thread has turned out to be a Wal-Mart vs. Target thread and now has added the Warehouse shooping clubs to the mix (Costco), I thought it might be a good idea to get everyone's opinion on the three major warehouse clubs. I have two memberships - one for school-use (Sam's) and one for both personal and school-uses (BJ's). I've gone into a Costco only twice; not sure if I want to add a third membership (school pays for the Sam's and business-BJ's memberships). For those with Costco memberships, why should I get a membership? I added an "OTHER" category, just in case there's a club that's not located on the East Coast that I'm not aware of.

She was lamenting the fact that some people she had gotten to know and had been close with ... now seem to be "lost in time". Sadly, I know exactly what she means. I can remember friends in college, high school, grade school and even from just a few years ago, that, at the time, I couldn't imagine life without them. But now, I can only be a bit curious as to what they're doing now ... or even, for that matter, if they are alive. We've grown apart, not because we wanted to, but because life pulled us in different directions ... whether it be because of inte…

Alcantara for More People Chrysler, Cadillac and Mercury will start offering suede-like Alcantara leather in certain sports edition models next year. Alcantara is best known for its use in performance cars like the BMW M3 because it holds drivers in their seats better than standard leather. It’s easy for us to guess that Chrysler’s SRT models and Cadillac’s V series will see Alcantara, but we’re mystified at which Mercury interior will get such treatment. Perhaps it will be one of its SUVs, like the Mountaineer. That seems like a bit of a waste to us. Read "Big Three Going With Luxury Alcantara Fabric in 2007" @ Kicking Tires

  70. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com McLaren F1 or Non Supercar, What is YOUR Choice? Road & Track pen'd a story about eight non-supercars with more power than a McLaren F1. Given the fact that many pay crazy amounts of money for a limited production run auto that seems to have a limited HP in relation to OEM production runs of normal models, one must ask: Is a Supercar that Super anymore? Here is the list of the 8 cars R&T have listed that they think is way better than a McLaren F1. Listed Low to High in the HP rating. Bentley Continental GT 633HP Chevy Corvette ZR1 638HP Cadillac CTS-V 640HP …

  74. What are your New Year's Eve and New Year's Day Traditions? Since I am starting this off, I will tell you what Mine are, been the same for the last 26 years of Marriage. I am married to a Korean and they have very specific things that are done. We start off with a Korean Pot sticker making party in the first week of Dec. Make hundreds, people who help get some to take home, most are kept for use in what is called Korean New Year's Day Soup. We then start on the 26th and make a ton of homemade Beef broth with flank steak in it that is then shredded. We also make a wide variety of Korean side dishes from scratch. This takes multiple days as to why we …

I think at this point almost everyone agrees that EVs are coming and eventually replacing ICE vehicles. I think the only big argument left is the timeline. So the question is: Which today's automobiles do you think will be future collectibles?

normally this would go in the auto show section but mpls is not a major show so its basically like going car shopping, but i thought i would post some observations. more people read the lounge anyways. it was a really scaled down autoshow. no concepts hardly and not much for glitz in displays. nearly no models. GM in particular was next to nothing. it really made the GM portion look sad. Gave the impression that GM is dead. on the whole, it was a ripoff for 10 bucks admission and 10 bucks to park, but fortunately, Ford and Mercury each will be sending me 50 buck gift cards after a test drive. that will make it pay off. comments......

  84. I saw a lot of cars this month, as I was in Eastern Canada and their cars are about the same, but some are a little different. October 4 - Saguenay fjord (port) / Chicoutimi, QC Another ~20-year-old Olds Alero with some rust still delivering the goods and parked at the port of this now more publicized destination in Quebec; I was walking around the port and saw this Pontiac Wave parked on a hill on someone's lawn. I wonder if it still ran. They didn't bring the Wave to the U.S., but possibly featured it here as the Pontiac G3. Either way, Canada sure took to Pontiac.

No, I'm not buying an Infiniti. I'm talking about the G20 summit being held in my home town. What. A. Nightmare. Every downtown business that isn't a restaurant is being told to shut down. There are travel restrictions on the airport. The main arteries through town will be closed. There are no arteries around town. Construction has boomed. They are rushing to get roads repaved and buildings finished before the dignitaries arrive. Protesters have already arrived and it's still a month away. The Secret Service and the County are toying with the protesters... which I don't approve of... but I understand. First the protesters were going to be moved to Point State Park…

Not important part (background): So I took this class this semester called Conceptual Ideation. Basically it's all about how to come up with good original ideas for art (which I could use the help in). For our first project, the teacher asked us to do a "redux" of something we failed at in the past. I chose to revisit the Aveo redesign I submitted for a C&G sketch competition a few years ago, which was undeniably very, very bad. My aim is to design a subcompact car that is typically practical and economical, but looks like it can beat every other subcompact to a pulp. The teacher was encouraging me to make something as wild and futuristic as I could imagine, b…

  87. If you’ve read today’s newspapers you’re probably aware that James May has had a spot of bother with an airship. The good news is that our brave hero has emerged from the slightly scratched wreckage UNHARMED. After PLUMMETING to the ground at a MASSIVE two miles an hour, May’s craft SLAMMED into a small bush and then just sort of STOPPED. Thankfully, trained rescue staff were on the scene in seconds to intercept James as he stepped out of the airship and were able to administer a much needed flask of TEA and some NICE BISCUITS. May has since returned home for a SIT DOWN and some light piano practise, after which he is reported to be “very well, thank you for asking”…

I got the deluxe album which gives me a bonus CD with extra songs, remixes, and videos. Plus, I get a one-year membership to the Korn BSC fan club. Chevy Dealer Has 13 Caprice PPVs for Public Sale Like the rest of humanity, car enthusiasts are driven wild by cars they can’t have. So whether you’re talking about the ricers who spend a small fortune to import legitimate JDM Nissan Skylines, or millionaire Mopar fans who drop a million bucks on a bonafide HEMI ‘Cuda, people have proven that they are willing to pay a premium to own a car that almost nobody else has. But there are some cars that the public is just not supposed to get, like the 2012 Chevy Caprice PPV. This vehicle is for sale to police departments only. But thanks to a loophole in the contract with GM, a Maryland car dealership has 13 of these Australia…

Everything is going fine, Amy (the wife) had a doctor's appointment today and had the ultrasound done. Its going to be a girl! I'm pretty well stoked about it, and so is everyone else in the family. We've already got a name decided on, Heather Anna, honoring my sister-in-law and Amy's cousin who were killed in car crashes not too long ago. Everything looked great, it was really awe-inspiring to see the baby sucking its thumb and kinda waving at the ultrasound thing as it passed over. Looking at the fullsize pickups from the Big 3, I always thought the Ram was the biggest in all dimensions by a good measure, with the Ford looking the narrowest by a good shot. But, in reality, they're pretty close together in size: GM: 79.9 wide 73.6 high 205.6 long 4463 lbs Ford: 79.2 wide 74.8 high 213.2 long 4685 lbs Dodge: 79.4 wide 73.4 high 209 long 4519 lbs This is for shortbed regular cab 2WD versions.
