Since I'm not up on Hair Metal, I thought I'd try a variation on the theme of Walt's contest. This album cover featured a white mouse crawling out of a white egg on a white background. The band was what I would call extreme Prog. Anyone?

My point and shoot Canon SD850IS camera does not start. It initially had problems focusing (as BV and DF noted when I took some pictures of my cars). Now it does not even turn on charge even with the battery fully charged. I tried various things like plugging to the computer and trying to start, using spare battery, etc. with no avail. Do you know any place which will fix it and how much do you think it is to fix? I like the camera for the simple facts that it was handy, had a view finder along with the screen and had great image quality - something which was must for me while taking pictures in the field. I do not want to spend close to $300 for a new one of similar capa…

I wanted to know if a blank key or set of keys could be made by GM to look like stock Chevrolet keys? I want to trick my grandpa when he opens up his present into thinking he got a new Impala. My whole family is in on it if we can do it and we will tell him we leased it for him. It is cruel, I know, but he loves practical jokes. Can this be done?????

WASHINGTON - Gasoline prices have jumped above $3 a gallon in some parts of California and Hawaii, and may hit that level in other parts of the country when the busy summer driving season approaches. “It kills me,” said Gloria Nunez, 53, as she filled her Ford Explorer SUV at a San Jose gas station. Nunez, a clerk for a communications company, has started working a couple hours of overtime each week to help soften the blow. “All of a sudden you kind of have to watch your pennies,” she said. Analysts say drivers should brace for more increases in the coming weeks. Crude oil, which makes up about half the price of gasoline, is trading above $60 a barrel. Higher demand, r…

One of the current models. It was a black R/T, covered in salt from the craptacular streets we have here after our 20" snowfall last week (4" more expected tomorrow). Even got to hear it, as the dude took off from a stop sign. Nice to finally see one in the real world.

Two year later I'm still waiting for a 5th gen. Camaro. When I opened up my copy of R&T and saw this I almost fell out of my Chair. I was working at Chevrolet of Lowell at the time as a salesman. I took it as a sign that within a few months, or certainly a year a ground up 5th gen. retro-69 Camaro would be hitting the streets. Meantime here it is Sept. 2005 and still nothing. Thank You Ramones. :)

I beg of Chevrolet to be daring and build the SIlverado 427 Concept in balck. I beg of Chevrolet to do this. It would be like the 454 Silverado agian. This would be a great SS replacement. The 427 would bring in buyers as well.

My little dog passed away today. Meggie was fifteen years, 3 months old to the day. I got her in October, 1990. She was the runt, but I saw a puppy full of life and energy. She gave me infinite joy over the years. I have no idea what I'm going to do now. She was my constant companion her whole life. She slept with me each night. I'm lost, and numb right now. I love her and I miss her, always.

Every month at our firmwide meetings, we have a quiz or a contest. Well, in September, they had a "building name and architect" quiz for buildings across the world...I won with 46 out of 50 correct. The executive assistant to the Pres hands me a pouch. It had an IPOD Nano. People go: "ooooh" but I don't know what to do with it. I'm going to Montreal on Saturday. I want to put songs I have on my computer plus some selected songs from CDs. Is it easy to do? How does one do it at their computer at work? Can I listen to these songs from a rental car? What are your favorite interiors on the market today (by looks, not materials)? For sedans, I like the Cruze's (with white trim) and Regal quite a bit. For a sports car, I really like the 370Z's. For SUVs, I'm a huge fan of the new Grand Cherokee and the Cayenne.

Went to see Transformers last night with Julie & a few friends. I was very happy with the movie. Let's just say that it's quite possibly THE best movie of all time. It makes Casablanca seem like a B- rated porno. By contrast Gone With The Wind would be a made for TV Lifetime movie & Citizen Kane would be Speed 2. All joking aside here's 10 reasons why the movie kicked A$$! 10. Even a 1974 Camaro rocks given some TLC & a little faith 9. Mustang = BAD, Camaro = GOOD 8. If Transformers DID exist they sure as hell WOULD only disguise themselves as RWD cars... 7. As cool as it was the catroon can't hold the candle to todays CGI 6. The Energon Cube mak…

First numbers test I believe I've seen on the new XF. The old one was pretty enough, but never really captivated me. There's something about this new one I really like. C&D has plenty of good things to say about it, as well. Here's the review for those interested- http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2016-jaguar-xf-35t-r-sport-test-review. As always, you have from 10% under the base price, up to 10% over the as-tested price to spend on a car in roughly the same genre. Going up or down a size is allowed, but no 2-seat sports coupes or SUV's, obviously. Base price was $61,645. As-tested was $74,785. Price range allotted- $55,480-82,265. You must spen…

Do any of you know if there is a non-textbook type of book that shows the complete process of a car's development from beginning to end? I mean everything, the complete dirt. Timelines, how they put together things like the brochures, the owner's manual, the repair manual, advertising, what's the process of having parts etc ready at the dealerships, training, how they get parts suppliers involved and on and on.....I've always wanted to know all the nitty gritty behind the scenes stuff. So is Korea stealing Japans thunder in terms of cars? Woman who works in the insurance agency down the street from us at work bought a new Genesis Coupe and had it parked out front when I went by on my way home. It is, IMHO, a much nicer car than anything Honda, Acura, Toyota, Lexus, or Nissan are building. Shoot me if you will...but I would gladly take the keys to this over a 370 Z. Got a good look at it...much better fit and finish than what I'm seeing from HONDA or Toyota...and not a terrible looking car, although it's no Camaro or GTI or C30 Volvo or anything... But it is IMHO a MUCH better effort than say the Accord Coupe or the Camry. So what is it boys (and g…

A human foot was discovered partially submerged in the water near Westham Island in Ladner, B.C., Delta police said Monday. It's the fifth human foot police have found in the province in less than a year. "As far as it being linked to other partial remains found, we haven't dismissed that. We're considering all possibilities," Const. Sharlene Brooks told CBC News. A couple out for a walk in the 2800 block of Savage Road spotted a shoe floating in the water around 10:30 a.m. and called police, she said. Investigators said it's a left foot. "Right now we're working very closely with the B.C. coroners service to identity the person whose remains we have recovered," B…

I nearly demolished a Saab 9-3 convertible last night..... but if I had, he would have deserved it. We're on a two lane, one way road coming up to a light. At the light your options are proceed straight or make a right if you're in the right hand lane... and only straight if you're in the left hand lane. Note that no matter which lane you're in, you can go straight. I'm in the right hand lane following this Saab, no one is in front of him, when about 50 yards before the light he decides that he needs to be in the left hand lane RIGHT f@#kING NOW. Of course there is traffic in the left hand lane already so he just slams on his brakes and puts his signal on.... apparen…

ocn's vacation, day 1: So, one or two of you may recall a thread on my first service visit with my Fiesta. It was to get a second key programmed for the car. That key was incorrectly cut by someone at Ford, so round two was necessary. This morning was round two. I got to the dealership at 7:50 for my 8:00 appointment for something that should take about 3 minutes. At about 8:40 I started doing the bad customer thing... I started walking around outside the shop, looking for my car. Found it. Tech was in his bay, at a desk on a laptop, looking up info on how to do the programming. He was stumped. I walked in and introduced myself as the car owner. He said the key…

After Ford released Bold Moves: Episode 15; Pitching the Fairlane Concept, we saw parts of what we all thought was the production version of the Ford Fairlane concept, or was it??!! I just got the recent December issue of Motor Trend, and according to them, the Fairlane concept will be very different. Was what we saw just a cancelled prototype? An idea that was originally the answer, but isn't? When wil it debut? What will it's production form take on? Thjese answeres are but to be answered.

I will start, we have friends coming in from out of town, kids will be coming home also and local friends joining us for a comfy gathering of 12 people for a relaxing afternoon and evening of eating, drinking and socializing. Then we will have some midnight shopping as I play chauffeur in driving the wife, kids and who ever else around to get shopping done and I relax in the back 40 of the parking lot. Seems to work as one person gets inline to check out, the others go gets their stuff and then they check out and I pick them up and off to the next location. Other tha…

So we went to do a little Christmas shopping, and needed a couple of Wii's (is that the correct pluralization?) and it turns out they're still a bitch to hunt down. Best Buy had none, Target had none, the smaller, independant places just laughed at me. Special mention goes to Sears/K-Mart because they have layaway, so according to the sales guy they haven't had any on shelves in weeks. After giving in and going to Gamestop, the search was over, walked in, got two, walked out. But I thought the whole Wii shortage thing was over.

The contest centers around creating artwork for the U.S./Mexico border wall a la the Berlin Wall (the western side at least!). Anyone, if you could click these four and vote for her, that would be super-duper. Thanks! Entry #1 Entry #2 Entry #3 Entry #4 I made Entry #4, btw. P.S. Just an observation. At time of writing this, 14 out of 69 posts today were GM focused. I'm just throwing this out there: Is C&G becoming more a general automotive interest(and much not related to anything automotive) forum rather than a GM 'cheers and gears' forum? Was it always this way? Does it matter? ( And for the record, I'm as 'guilty' as anyone else).

I was thinking, what if someone made a rim that had springs inside? So when you hit a bump, the actual wheel could compress a bit to absorb the bump.

This is the revised "Bumblebee" Camaro for the next (horrifically underwhelming) installment of Michael Bay's Transformers franchise. Notice the revised front fascia and lack of rear side glass. Hmmm ...

Recently, I've had a guy inquire about my front fender. He's all the way over in Washington state. Talks of shipping have been going on and I'm not entirely sure how to do this for a reasonable price. The length, width, and height are very close to putting it over UPS/FedEx's limit for a large package, which adds a $45 upcharge to an already high price due to distance. I'm not entirely sure I can find a box that will be under the said limit and still be able to fit the fender. Weight-wise, it's just under 10 lbs. Is there any way I can ship this without getting him raped on fees and not likely to go through with the purchase?

...these words as much as I did today. I pulled up to a redlight, and in the next lane, a red Geo Metro convertible, top down, made its glorious presence known, with a little chubby nerdy dude driving it. In my heart and on my tongue were the words... "THAT THING GOT A HEMI IN IT?" I chickened out, though.

I have to stop buying stuff mainly because it looks good. This damn thing has reset itself on me about 20 times today and I have no idea what the problem is. It's so damn irritating. I'd kick this thing to the curb if I had the money for a replacement lined up. Maybe it just needs to cool down but it's been grating on my nerves for the past 4 days. For future reference, is there a more dependable brand of router out there?

The Summer Of Concerts
by Guest Josh- 4 replies

Holy cow has this summer kicked my ASS as far as concerts go. It all started about three months ago when I staged a "getaway" down south to catch Kid Rock in Tennesse, Atlanta, Georgia and one other southern state which name currently escapes me for some odd reason. After that it's been plenty of local shows. Jocaine (of course!) Papa Roach with/311 (left before ghey11 took the stage) and more Jocaine. Motley Crue was just a few short days ago and it was a blast. I think I may head to a few shows spontaniously (sp?) over the next few days and top it off with another JoCaine (Of course again!) show sometime early next week. Anybody else catch concer…

Ok, I'm in the Southland for the weekend (when I purchased the ticket, I didn't know I'd be here last month for the AIA convention). So, I forgot to bring CDs and I have to channel surf. So Cal keeps changing but some things have stayed the same for years. KRTH (K-earth) is still an oldies station, "The Wave" is still jazz, and KBIG is still generic pop. So, yesterday, I drive out to Rancho Mirage (bolts onto Palm Springs) and I'm on KRTH and I hear "Spill The Wine." What a goof-ass song, complete with the lady speaking Spanish in the background. Absurd. Then, I'm driving back and there's Disco Saturday Night ( ) on KBIG. I heard "Lady Marmalade" (voulez vous cou…

Stopped off at the gym this morning. Was on treadmill for 25 minutes, felt good, got off and went in for a shower. Found my lock busted on the locker, twisted so I couldn't open it. Got an employee to cut the lock the rest of the way off, but the latch on the locker was also broken. After using a screwdriver to open the busted latch, I went through my stuff to find all my cash missing from my wallet, but everything else intact. The shift manager called the local police. In the meantime, I had to call and cancel my two credit cards and, to be safe, order a new bank card. After the officer interviewed me, two other customers walked over and told me of similar events …

Who saw it? I did. Visually, not as appealing as X3 or Batman Begins. Plotwise, not as good as Batman but on-par with (or slightly better than) X3's. Acting, about asgood as the other two. I think it may have been a bit too long as well. Overall, I'd give it a B+. It would find a place in my DVD collection.

It's 100 percent real, nothing has been altered. Notice the cons? The disclaimer at the bottom (if you can see them)? I think this is as truthful as Toyota's gonna get. (And ImageShack can suck my ass. Thank ya, fellas, for taking down the image!)

Well, the results looked good. After the beating with the cane I took, there are no serious issues (or broken bone, like I thought). I have some major bruising on the lower part of my back...which should heal in 3-4 months... The part that sucks is that I am no allowed to drive far distances for a while.....so there goes my trip to IL to meet knightfan and other people....that sucks... Sorry, KF-I really wanted to go too.... I had the Cav all ready to go...even bought my little guy an extra pillow for the trip..... *sigh* Well, maybe people can come and visit me.... :AH-HA_wink:

So I want to take the route of finding a totaled 300M (an LHS would work too) and use it as a parts car for mine. I was wondering, and sorry if this is s a stupid question, but will junkyards sell you a whole car that still has a good drivetrain, and will they charge you a crapload for it?

Summer's coming/here, and inevitably, I have received my annual fyreworks catalog in the mail, despite (& in spite ??) of the disclaimer that NJ & DE residents cannot buy, transport, possess or operate fyreworks without a permit. Many years ago, a temporary co-worker got me a great grab-bag of fun, and about 4 years ago, a brief-cased sized box of them --that survived a to-the-ground building fire (they were in the walk-in safe)-- likewise provided more fun. I'd really like to get some more, and the catalog is SO enticing. Pyro-Impact, Big Bomb Jumbo Cracker, Red, White & Boom... sigh! Anyway, there's a few fyrewerks stores in PA, one in Easton.... any of y…

http://www.skyroadster.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11057 When visiting with Fly, Camino, Oldsmoboi, Ocnblu, and BlackandBlueLandscaper and showing off the SKY, they couldn't tell that my car had been damaged in an accident. I told them that quite a few of the Kappa cars have been involved in accidents over the last two years and many were able to be repaired, although others met their unfortunate fate too early. The link above is from the skyroadster.com fourm; while the first page goes back to January of this year, there are some collages of accident pictures. But a recent addition on page 2 shows what a Solstice looks like when it flips completely over. I figured I…

* The June 2007 story grabbed my attention: 1957 Plymouth Belvedere unearthed in Tulsa OK, a Route 66 town. I know several people who were there in person. I watched it live on the internet before we left for Dad's team's softball game that Friday evening. The car has been above ground 5 years, after being under ground 50. But, hardly any news; my main 2 sources don't seem to be very up-to-date. Maybe I'm the only one curious as to what has happened or is happening to the car...? Or, maybe I've just missed recent news? 1 of 2: http://www.unburiedcar.com/ 2 of 2: http://www.ridrust.com/missbelvedere.asp Cort | 38.m.IL | pigValve + paceMaker + cowValve | 1 Capr…

Well, after my Mom had her car obliterated in a head-on collision (can the "curse" affect you family too?) she will need a new vehicle. And not being in the financial position to buy a new vehicle we decided to go used. Mom wants a Tahoe, specifically a Black Tahoe. It will still be quite a while before my Mom will be able to drive but my Dad an I are looking anyway, and we have noticed that there are hardly any used Tahoes out there. The few that are just aren't appealing or in a color my Mom doesn't like. Now I suppose we could go the GMC route and get here a Yukon, but she is pretty much set on a Tahoe. So I guess fuel milage concerns aren't really affecting anyone aro…
