Scanning the homepage, it appears to be Z-06's birthday (smallchevy, I think, before name changing became popular). It's also jsurenko's birthday...who filled out the info sheet one fine day and never posted. So, to Z-06, happy birthday!

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. I am SCARFING down some Thanksgiving victuals, all made by ocn from scratch, and everything turned out great... shocker! Here's what I'm eating as I type: Butterball whole turkey breast: rubbed with margarine (I Can't Believe It Ain't Butter w/Olive Oil version), fresh ground pepper and poultry seasoning. Apple and Wild Rice dressing: two loaves of french bread, ripped up into bitesize chunks & soaked in chopped onion, celery hearts, Red Delicious apple, sage, poultry seasoning, powdered buttermilk, wild rice (cooked in a separate pan ahead of time), chicken broth and plenty of margarine (all sauteed together until the veggies are …

So I'll get right to it. Just got news that the mother of someone I knew (not a friend, not an enemy, just an acquaintance) in elementary school has died suddenly and there will be a funeral on Saturday afternoon. Problem is coming up on the following Monday are the diploma exams for Math and Chemistry both subjects I'm sitting below 80% in and they are worth 50% of my mark (I need to get an above 80 overall average to get into the Business School I want). Just this morning I figured out through calculation that I'll need all weekend as well as until 1am every night till then to be ready for this sucker, and low, while I'm out my mom answers the phone, finds out about …

Just returned from a few days at Universal Studios Orlando (stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel) and we spent three nights at the annual Halloween Horror Nights. My wife and I are big horror fans and of Halloween. Here's some choice pics from the trip: When you first walk in, there is the "Horror Comes Home" street that walks you to "The Arrival" stage. Along this street is a bunch of strange characters: Here's me and an evil woman on stilts: My wife with this creepy stilt guy: This guy creeped me out the most, especially in the dark: And yes, that is a plastic chest-plate: Then there is a little show called "The Arrival" where the Devil takes the ashes of HHN …

CONCORD — It's official: No matter what the Massachusetts Supreme Court decides, New Hampshire won't be collecting sales taxes from Bay Staters who stray over the border to do their shopping. Yesterday, New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch applauded the final passage of a bill protecting New Hampshire businesses from having to collect sales and use taxes on behalf of Massachusetts and other states. The bill, sponsored by Seabrook's Sen. Maggie Wood Hassan, D-Exeter, received final approval by the Senate during its Wednesday session and now goes to Lynch, who will surely sign it. When the issues first arose, Lynch called the attempted tax grab by Massachusetts "outrageous." …

Just got done reading the new car issue of Consumer Reports. In the article about "automaker scorecards" or whatever, they say in it that Toyota overtook GM as the world's largest automaker this year. I thought that it was determined that GM sold more? Besides, it was so close that tie goes to the 80 year champ right?

Saturday afternoon, I stopped to get gas before I left town for Freeport IL to see some friends for dinner. The gallons (after almost a week of driving) was 7.729 for $17.00. On the way back home late Saturday night, I thought about getting gas, but decided I'd just get gas today (Sunday) after I did some running around. So, today, I stopped at Walmart, stopped at a no-touch car wash to get the '87 MC LS washed, drove a bit to help dry it off a bit more, then stopped for gas. After I got back home and started inputting the figures into my "gas book", I was stunned to discover that the gallons and dollar amount were exactly the same as yesterday's ... 7.729 gallons for…

Hey gang... I'm not up to par on BMWs, and my parents are considering buying a leftover 2016 or new 2017 BMW X3. Mom recently turned 65, dad is 69 1/2 and mom has desired a BMW for a while. They sold off their 2005 Saturn VUE and want to downsize to just one car (my dad has a '13 VW Passat SE that he wants to trade in). Any reason they should not consider the BMW X3? The X3 is the model in their price range, mom test drove the X1 and couldn't stand it. I can get her GM Supplier pricing on a GM CUV/SUV, but the XT5 is a little more than what she wants to spend and she initially wasn't thrilled with the Buick Envision (though she said she'd reconsider it and take one f…

I've been putting in insanely long days on my project wagon since the end of last week, and tonight I was stopped in my tracks by a freaking fuel pump! Just as well I suppose, at least I'll be asleep before 4:00 A.M. tonight. I'm burnt to a crisp after this marathon, but it felt great to just decide to commit totallly to the project no matter what other concerns tried to enter the picture. Now a realatively simple repair ought to have the car running, and I can slow the pace back down to a more sane level to complete the work that remains to be done. I'm exhausted, but it is a "good" exhausted.

Well, I tried to give Chrysler my money on one of the Jeep Commanders...but it keeps letting us down. It has failed - in the garage - THREE times now. Exact same issue: The battery completely drains after the car is left for 12 hours or more. The first time, it was jumped through roadside assistance (so it would be documented) and we drove it to the dealership. Everything tested fine, so we took it home. Three months later, dead. Towed it to the dealership. They claimed the battery was more than likely discharged by the cell phone charger in the outlet and told us to eliminate the cell phone charger - as 'this happens all the time'...I asked the guy nicely if the …

The question: What cars & when used the E-Body? Don't start typing yet.... I believe a huge degree of confusion comes from those who confuse body designations with chassis designations, which are usually the same folk who want to call all BOF chassis' "platforms" as if they were unibodies. Chassis's, or frames, were NOT designated by the same body letter codes. The B-Body Buick rode a completely different chassis/frame than a B-Body Pontiac in 1960, for example. And FRAMES ARE NOT 'PLATFORMS' !!! "Buick introduces the prestige, E-body based, Riviera, as a 1963 model." --( http://www.gm.com/company/corp_info/history/gmhis1960.html ) "There was styling, of course: …

I know I haven't posted in awhile, but school and working has been very time consuming for me and I apologize to all the C&G fans for not being able to read all the posts here. But really, how is it evil or wrong to bailout an industry that provides 30 million jobs and is only a victim of the American system of the NYSE and instant gratification and rewards? I am usually never awake at this hour. I dreamed that I became friends with an inner city kid. Somehow I ended up being asked to drive vehicles for him and his other buddies, from one place to another in the city. It was winter time, there was snow on the ground. He was driving an Escalade, I was riding with him. Throughout the dream, I could feel a growing awareness of what was really happening. He was part of a drug gang and I was an unwitting driver, parking these blingy vehicles and leaving them in rundown, unfamiliar parts of town. We park the Escalade and I ask him something through mind waves (no talk) like "what do you want me to do next?"…

Western automakers are fighting to stop sales of China-built cars that resemble their models. Fiat has gone to courts in Italy and China to block sales of the Peri, a car built by Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor. The Peri is almost an exact replica of the Panda, Europe’s best-selling minicar, Fiat says. BMW and Daimler are suing European distributors to stop sales of China-built cars that appear to be clones of their cars. Meanwhile, Toyota has promised to do a better job obtaining design patents for its models in worldwide markets after the UFO, an SUV that closely resembles the second-generation RAV4, went on sale in Europe. Ready to fight Chinese carmakers hav…

Did the Astro and Safari vans have a lot of issues with build quality. I was at work at Canadian Tire and in 4 hours, 3 people called to ask if we carried a replacement mirror for an Astro. First one I thought was a coincidence, then the second one was on the phone and it started to get me wondering. I had about 2 cases of that last Tuesday I worked. I asked everybody if they had already been in or sent somebody in looking for that but they said no. This is kind of odd because that was just 5 cases in 2 weeks or technically 2 work days. But we didn't carry them so I told everybody to go to the dealer for the new mirror. Has anyone else heard of this happening? The driver'…

So, yesterday my family and friends decided to get together, pack a whole bunch of $h!, and go to the beach for father's day. They left early in the morning...like 10:30 or so...I said f@#k that noise and slept in till around noon-ish...I decided I'd just meet them at the beach. It's time to leave and right now my car is kind of out of commission for the moment...nothing serious, just doing a couple things, so I couldn't drive it, so my sister let me drive her car. So everything is all good. I get down to the beach, and you can either park in the lot for $7 bucks, or park on the side of PCH for free. I didn't have any cash on me, so I went driving up an…

This is the 2nd of 3 July 4th themed UDG threads I had planned. Just wasn't able to get them all up before the 4th. Since we won our independence from the British, it seems fitting that we have a Dream Garage dedicated to our tyrant turned ally. In matching our American one, this one will allow 10 choices. Rules- 1) British makes ONLY. 2) Any era is allowed. 3) You are allowed ONE concept/one-off choice. 4) You are also allowed ONE racecar/non-street legal choice. 5) You MUST have at least ONE off-road/SUV choice. 6) Maximum of 10 vehicles. That's it, enjoy!!

A woman was helping her husband set up his computer, and at the appropriate point in the process, she told him that he would now need to enter a password. Something he could remember easily and will use each time he has to log on. The husband was in a rather amorous mood and figured he would try for the shock effect to bring this to his wife's attention. So, when the computer asked him to enter his password, he made it plainly obvious to his wife that he was keying in... P... E... N... I… S... His wife fell off her chair laughing when the message appeared: PASSWORD REJECTED....... NOT LONG ENOUGH

I thought you guys might enjoy this one.... A guy met an older woman in a bar. They drank and flirted and he decided she was pretty hot for a fifty-five-year-old. As they exchanged a passionate kiss, she whispered in his ear: "Have you ever had a mother and daughter together?" "No" he answered. "But it's something I've always fantasized about" "Well, tonight could just be your lucky night." she said, knocking back another double vodka. Scarcely able to contain himself, he went back to her place. She turned the key in the door, put the hall light on and shouted upstairs: "Mom, you still awake?"

A bit of a rant, but these things happened over the last few weeks and I can't get over how dumb all 5 are. #1. My Buddy Steve runs a body shop, did the body work on my 71 Chevelle and my 55 Chevy and also has fixed my other cars, including the Safari van when it got hit by a truck. Steve took a BMW Salvage title rebuild down to the Ohio State highway patrol to get it checked out so he could sell it. He noticed a very nice 65 Corvette Convertible (red, restored) being hauled away with the impounds to a company that crushes cars. He asked them what they were doing with the Vette...and was told that they were crushing it for reasons they couldn't discuss. Why in…

cbc ADRIAN, Mich. - A Michigan man was charged with drunken driving after drinking two bottles of wine, cutting through a snowstorm on his lawn mower and riding down the centre of the street to reach a liquor store, authorities said. Police found Frank Kozumplik, 49, homeward bound on a John Deere tractor Saturday night, toting four bottles of wine in a paper bag, officials said. He told officers his wife had taken their car to work and the mower was the only way he could reach the store, three kilometres from home. His blood alcohol level was 2½ times Michigan's legal driving limit of 0.08 per cent, police told WLEN-FM. They arrested him and confiscated the mower…

Here we go again. So they replaced both the master and slave clutch cylinders. It worked good...for about a week. Saturday night while I was delivering I started having problems. I would have the clutch all the way in and the car sounded like it was going to stall when it was at as stop and in first (like if you were taking the clutch off without giving it gas). It wouldn't come out of gear either...and when I tried to go it would lurch forward and stall. It did this to be like 10 times, and when I got stuck being stalled horizontally in the middle of a main road I had enough. It's like it's gonna kill me one of these times! So I go home and get the Shadow...which made a …

Many brands are now featuring what I call the "laptop left open" look atop the center stack of newer vehicles. Mazda is doing this, and some German marques are doing this, too. It appears that the new Ford Focus will also feature it. Mazda 6 (?) BMW 3 series 2019 Ford Focus The Malibu has it, sort of, but it looks fairly well integrated. Latest Malibu I do not like most of them. I can handle it on the Malibu. It may be convenient but, in most cases, it looks ugly ... to me.

Interesting is that in the quarter mile you do see that the Ferrari is a couple car lengths ahead but as they hit the finish line and keep going the bugatti closes the gap. Did you know that Oldsmobile pioneered the use of turbo-chargers in production cars? It was the 1962 Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire Sport Coupe. http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/bv/...f85_jetfire.htm 1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire Turbo

Here she is, XP48; the one of a kid Cadillac Eldorado Brougham town car made for the 1956 Motorama. I'd seen this thing a long time ago in a book and had almost forgotten about it until I opened up this month's issue of Hemming's Motor News and saw it in the auctions section. I can't believe this thing escaped the crusher at the legendary Warhoops Salvage Yard where Lord knows how many other priceless concepts were squished into a cube. XP48: The 1956 Motorama Cadillac Eldorado Brougham town car I need to see this thing in person before i die.

Just thought id throw another thread out to discuss the Alpha Platform We have two threads about the MT article about pontiac not getting an Alpha... i call especially since Lutz discredited it.... Im really interested in the platform, as it may signal a return to cheap, fun RWD cars What i know so far... Cadillac is the obvious reciever of the platform, sub CTS car Pontiac should and almost definatley will get at least one variation of the car Alpha uses Kappa as a basis and the Kappa twins may eventually move to Alpha What i want to know.. Besides the possibility of the Sky/Solsitce on Alpha, will the Ponitac/Cadillac Alphas be Sedan only? or will mul…

Before my brother's wedding last weekend, he sent me an email, inviting me to a BBQ this weekend. I had every intention of going camping this weekend, and I told him what I was going to do, with the qualification that if it rains, I would be at his house and not stuck in the woods in a tent waiting for the sun. It rained. I read the email as the BBQ was going to be today, and I was all set to show up at my bro's house this afternoon... but, stupid me, I reread the email last night, and the BBQ was yesterday at 3 pm. Now I missed out on camping and my brother's BBQ. Happy 4th, oh yeah. And I feel guilty for not paying closer attention to the date in his note. He le…

Not work safe (well it's borderline) I'd love to own this bad boy, check out that spedometer. just to be abl;e to say the name to people would be worht the price of admision. It's like: "I went for a ride in my Classic Cadillac today..." {oh, what do you have? waht year & model?} "It's a 1947 Cadillac Scoville and Sayers hearse..." {blank stare} I think these are the "Suicide Girls" posing wiht it, I saw an HBO special on them once. Checked the website but if it was them the pics with the car are not up yet... (read the auction writeup if you're scratching your head) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...bayphotohosting …

Just food for thought, this si not exactly very scientific but it does prove a point: why bother with B-pillars when push come to shove they're all pretty weak... I do not beleive a B-pillar saves lives more often than sheer luck does. http://www.crashanalysis.com/crash_test.htm

I have an ax to grind with gravel trucks. They're constantly on the Don Valley Parkway, and I have no idea why, there are no gravel yards around. About half the time I see one, they have rock screenings flying out of the back all over the road, and this morning a rock about half the size of a golf ball flew out of the back of one, bounced loudly off my hood and again off my roof. I have so many little chips all over the place from these trucks. Why is this legal?? Shouldn't unsecured loads like this be some kind of safety violation? Caledon township (not too far away) has a much larger problem with gravel trucks. articleApparently these gravel truck drivers who are dr…

Arizona's Immigration Mistake Wall Street Journal I have spent over 50 years in the law-enforcement profession in the Tucson community, the past 30 of which I have served as sheriff. I have seen relations between our community and law enforcement personnel shift with the times: sometimes challenged when the actions of a few police officers cross the line, and often improving when there is a sense of partnership. But in the past few weeks Arizona became a model for the rest of the country of what not to do. The immigration reform law that was signed by Gov. Jan Brewer on April 23 effectively requires that immigrants be able to prove their legal presence in the state of…

So found this on Motor Trends web site, the top 10 concepts that should have been built. I have to say I really like most of them and the one Chrysler did, while the first time seeing it for me, this should have been done from day one. Talk about pure sex on wheels. http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/g6565/10-concept-cars-we-wish-had-made-it-to-production/?slide=1 My Favorite two are as follows: Chrysler Atlantic Concept Cadillac Sixteen Plenty of other cool auto's but these two are my fav's.
