This is the 2nd of 3 July 4th themed UDG threads I had planned. Just wasn't able to get them all up before the 4th. Since we won our independence from the British, it seems fitting that we have a Dream Garage dedicated to our tyrant turned ally. In matching our American one, this one will allow 10 choices. Rules- 1) British makes ONLY. 2) Any era is allowed. 3) You are allowed ONE concept/one-off choice. 4) You are also allowed ONE racecar/non-street legal choice. 5) You MUST have at least ONE off-road/SUV choice. 6) Maximum of 10 vehicles. That's it, enjoy!!

I've been putting in insanely long days on my project wagon since the end of last week, and tonight I was stopped in my tracks by a freaking fuel pump! Just as well I suppose, at least I'll be asleep before 4:00 A.M. tonight. I'm burnt to a crisp after this marathon, but it felt great to just decide to commit totallly to the project no matter what other concerns tried to enter the picture. Now a realatively simple repair ought to have the car running, and I can slow the pace back down to a more sane level to complete the work that remains to be done. I'm exhausted, but it is a "good" exhausted.

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. I am SCARFING down some Thanksgiving victuals, all made by ocn from scratch, and everything turned out great... shocker! Here's what I'm eating as I type: Butterball whole turkey breast: rubbed with margarine (I Can't Believe It Ain't Butter w/Olive Oil version), fresh ground pepper and poultry seasoning. Apple and Wild Rice dressing: two loaves of french bread, ripped up into bitesize chunks & soaked in chopped onion, celery hearts, Red Delicious apple, sage, poultry seasoning, powdered buttermilk, wild rice (cooked in a separate pan ahead of time), chicken broth and plenty of margarine (all sauteed together until the veggies are …

I'm starting to see some amazingly good deals out there. I haven't been in the stock market for a few years now. The last time I bought in was the bottom of the market crash just after 9-11. I took just a few hundred dollars and was able to turn it into a substantial down payment for my CTS. Highest on my list is CBRE At 70 cents a share, they seem like a great deal. They pay a dividend, they're small cap, and they have a tremendous upside once the real estate market returns.

* Among my many hobbies is my HO scale model train layout, with many iconic places across the US. But, I enjoy the work of an OC,SHer. So I'll get right to it. Just got news that the mother of someone I knew (not a friend, not an enemy, just an acquaintance) in elementary school has died suddenly and there will be a funeral on Saturday afternoon. Problem is coming up on the following Monday are the diploma exams for Math and Chemistry both subjects I'm sitting below 80% in and they are worth 50% of my mark (I need to get an above 80 overall average to get into the Business School I want). Just this morning I figured out through calculation that I'll need all weekend as well as until 1am every night till then to be ready for this sucker, and low, while I'm out my mom answers the phone, finds out about …

TACOMA, Wash. - A Thai immigrant convicted of incest led investigators to the body of a 12-year-old girl who had been missing since the Fourth of July, and is expected to be charged in her death, authorities said Friday. Police are also trying to determine whether Terapon Adhahn, 42, is connected to other missing child cases that date back to 1986. Zina Linnik, abducted during a neighborhood fireworks display, died from "homicidal violence," said Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum and the Pierce County medical examiner's office. Her body was found in a rural wooded area after information from Adhahn's lawyer led police and FBI agents there, authorities said. Adh…

Today I too was the victim of the C&G Curse. Rear ended by a Toyota Camry taxicab (I guess you can only talk sh!t about Toyota so long without one of them coming to get you). I'm in my car sitting at a stoplight when I feel a huge bump and look in my mirror to see a cab has run into me. Driver was drinking from a water bottle and dropped it approaching the stoplight... The water bottle was pinned behind his brake pedal and he said he couldn't stop. I'll post some pics of the damage but suffice to say the whole bloody bumper needs to be replaced (FML).

A bit of a rant, but these things happened over the last few weeks and I can't get over how dumb all 5 are. #1. My Buddy Steve runs a body shop, did the body work on my 71 Chevelle and my 55 Chevy and also has fixed my other cars, including the Safari van when it got hit by a truck. Steve took a BMW Salvage title rebuild down to the Ohio State highway patrol to get it checked out so he could sell it. He noticed a very nice 65 Corvette Convertible (red, restored) being hauled away with the impounds to a company that crushes cars. He asked them what they were doing with the Vette...and was told that they were crushing it for reasons they couldn't discuss. Why in…

Hey gang... I'm not up to par on BMWs, and my parents are considering buying a leftover 2016 or new 2017 BMW X3. Mom recently turned 65, dad is 69 1/2 and mom has desired a BMW for a while. They sold off their 2005 Saturn VUE and want to downsize to just one car (my dad has a '13 VW Passat SE that he wants to trade in). Any reason they should not consider the BMW X3? The X3 is the model in their price range, mom test drove the X1 and couldn't stand it. I can get her GM Supplier pricing on a GM CUV/SUV, but the XT5 is a little more than what she wants to spend and she initially wasn't thrilled with the Buick Envision (though she said she'd reconsider it and take one f…

New exhaust Clear coat Some interior bulbs The brake pads that come with the sensors (some idiot replaced it with cheap pads w/o the sensors on em) Radio display doesn't work....and that's about it. She starts up smoothly and runs great. Hope to pick her up soon

Many brands are now featuring what I call the "laptop left open" look atop the center stack of newer vehicles. Mazda is doing this, and some German marques are doing this, too. It appears that the new Ford Focus will also feature it. Mazda 6 (?) BMW 3 series 2019 Ford Focus The Malibu has it, sort of, but it looks fairly well integrated. Latest Malibu I do not like most of them. I can handle it on the Malibu. It may be convenient but, in most cases, it looks ugly ... to me.

So I was home for graduation parties like a week and a half ago. On Saturday night while I was out at a bonfire in the country, my pager went off. It was a medical call for a man that was choking ( at least that is what the dispatcher picked out of the cell phone call that was broken up) The dipatcher pretty much only knew where it was based off the GPS signal that the cell phone sent. So I hopped in the burban and took off, I was only about 3 miles away (luckily, considering that everyone else on the squad would have been in town which was 7 miles away). So I'm first on the scene. As I get there, I notice that it is not a man choking but rather a 10-11 year old boy…

UNDATED -- A 96-year-old Florida man is recovering after an otter went on the attack. Morrie Denton said he was just out for a stroll when the animal struck. "I just looked down on the ground and I saw this little animal walking across and he walked real slow like," Denton said. Denton said without warning, near a wetland area, an otter clamped down on his ankle. Two good Samaritans came to the elderly man's aid, but the otter then turned its focus on them. "After he grabbed me by the foot and I fell, he was all over me, on this hand and then on this one,” Denton said. A good Samaritan stopped to help Denton, but struggled to pull the otter off. After another brief vacation from the forums, I might be back to posting. Maybe... You never know with me, afterall. For now, though, I'm here after a few months of hell getting ready for a move, working overtime, and dealing with an awful dealership. For those who don't know, I'm moved back to Michigan to do the same job I did the last time. I'm even literally just down the street from where I was last time. Hopefully, I'll make this move a little more permanent than the last try. If you weren't aware of what I was doing previously, it probably isn't very hard to figure out if you search. So, I'll be doing that as well as a few other side projects involving the indus…

Let's play a game of car scrabble connecting model names and rebuilds. Rules: 1. You can connect cars by model name to model name of a different brand, model name to trim name of a different brand, model to model of the same brand but different generations, or from model to model via rebadge. You show the connections with N> for name, Y> for year, or R> for rebadge. 2. You can connect 2 cars by model name as long as they do not share a brand name and get 2 points .(Example: Edsel Citation N> Chevy Citation). You can connect names that have slightly different spelling as long as the name is pronounced the same, major changes in name structure…

So, yesterday my family and friends decided to get together, pack a whole bunch of $h!, and go to the beach for father's day. They left early in the morning...like 10:30 or so...I said f@#k that noise and slept in till around noon-ish...I decided I'd just meet them at the beach. It's time to leave and right now my car is kind of out of commission for the moment...nothing serious, just doing a couple things, so I couldn't drive it, so my sister let me drive her car. So everything is all good. I get down to the beach, and you can either park in the lot for $7 bucks, or park on the side of PCH for free. I didn't have any cash on me, so I went driving up an…

Before my brother's wedding last weekend, he sent me an email, inviting me to a BBQ this weekend. I had every intention of going camping this weekend, and I told him what I was going to do, with the qualification that if it rains, I would be at his house and not stuck in the woods in a tent waiting for the sun. It rained. I read the email as the BBQ was going to be today, and I was all set to show up at my bro's house this afternoon... but, stupid me, I reread the email last night, and the BBQ was yesterday at 3 pm. Now I missed out on camping and my brother's BBQ. Happy 4th, oh yeah. And I feel guilty for not paying closer attention to the date in his note. He le…

I thought you guys might enjoy this one.... A guy met an older woman in a bar. They drank and flirted and he decided she was pretty hot for a fifty-five-year-old. As they exchanged a passionate kiss, she whispered in his ear: "Have you ever had a mother and daughter together?" "No" he answered. "But it's something I've always fantasized about" "Well, tonight could just be your lucky night." she said, knocking back another double vodka. Scarcely able to contain himself, he went back to her place. She turned the key in the door, put the hall light on and shouted upstairs: "Mom, you still awake?"

I am usually never awake at this hour. I dreamed that I became friends with an inner city kid. Somehow I ended up being asked to drive vehicles for him and his other buddies, from one place to another in the city. It was winter time, there was snow on the ground. He was driving an Escalade, I was riding with him. Throughout the dream, I could feel a growing awareness of what was really happening. He was part of a drug gang and I was an unwitting driver, parking these blingy vehicles and leaving them in rundown, unfamiliar parts of town. We park the Escalade and I ask him something through mind waves (no talk) like "what do you want me to do next?"…

I have an ax to grind with gravel trucks. They're constantly on the Don Valley Parkway, and I have no idea why, there are no gravel yards around. About half the time I see one, they have rock screenings flying out of the back all over the road, and this morning a rock about half the size of a golf ball flew out of the back of one, bounced loudly off my hood and again off my roof. I have so many little chips all over the place from these trucks. Why is this legal?? Shouldn't unsecured loads like this be some kind of safety violation? Here we go again. So they replaced both the master and slave clutch cylinders. It worked good...for about a week. Saturday night while I was delivering I started having problems. I would have the clutch all the way in and the car sounded like it was going to stall when it was at as stop and in first (like if you were taking the clutch off without giving it gas). It wouldn't come out of gear either...and when I tried to go it would lurch forward and stall. It did this to be like 10 times, and when I got stuck being stalled horizontally in the middle of a main road I had enough. It's like it's gonna kill me one of these times! So I go home and get the Shadow...which made a …

What's your take on it? I became progressively more angry as I watched it. Pissed at the government, pissed at the oil companies, and pissed at GM.

All right guys, help me out (if you would ever be so kind). Im trying to decide on a car for college (or type of car). i need something with good gas milage, in particular and something recent (nothing past the '01 mark if you dont mind, but if is, i'll consider it). I also dont need anything big; something nice and compact that wont take up a large amount of space. oh and make sure that it dont cost an arm and a leg to buy (god knows im not rich). If you have any recomendations/sugestions for such a picky post please reply. thank you, I appreciate it.

cbc ADRIAN, Mich. - A Michigan man was charged with drunken driving after drinking two bottles of wine, cutting through a snowstorm on his lawn mower and riding down the centre of the street to reach a liquor store, authorities said. Police found Frank Kozumplik, 49, homeward bound on a John Deere tractor Saturday night, toting four bottles of wine in a paper bag, officials said. He told officers his wife had taken their car to work and the mower was the only way he could reach the store, three kilometres from home. His blood alcohol level was 2½ times Michigan's legal driving limit of 0.08 per cent, police told WLEN-FM. They arrested him and confiscated the mower…

I have no plans to arrange any 2010 gatherings; however, several people have asked me if any are in the works and why no announcements have been made. Thus...: 1 ... What draws your interest in a gathering? 2 ... What keeps your interest in a gathering for you to attend as planned? 3 ... Are you interested in a MidSummer Chitown gathering in Elgin IL, July TwentyTen? Depending on the responses, I may arrange a July 24 (or 31) gathering, in Elgin IL, for MULTIPLE boards (car- and heart-related, etc.), starting at 11a with a short drive ... and lasting into the evening. Recent gatherings.... MARCH 2008 ~10 people attended a gathering of 2 heart-related groups at a S…

Well on its way to becoming the highest-grossing film of all time, James Cameron's Avatar is bulldozing all the competition. Have you seen it? I took my mother to see it yesterday at her request, and I must say, even with the heavy-handed message(s) and well-worn love story angle, it was beautifully done. We saw it in 2-D, and I'd go back to see it in 3-D, wow, what a way to light up the screen.

Arizona's Immigration Mistake Wall Street Journal I have spent over 50 years in the law-enforcement profession in the Tucson community, the past 30 of which I have served as sheriff. I have seen relations between our community and law enforcement personnel shift with the times: sometimes challenged when the actions of a few police officers cross the line, and often improving when there is a sense of partnership. But in the past few weeks Arizona became a model for the rest of the country of what not to do. The immigration reform law that was signed by Gov. Jan Brewer on April 23 effectively requires that immigrants be able to prove their legal presence in the state of…

Since my shop I work at has opened its garages to the public for about 2 years now, every BMW I have seen seems to have either spun bearings or Catastrophic engine failure. Normally we tell them to go to the dealer then they tell us how much they will charge then we under cut it by almost $2k or more then I'm stuck with some European car expert In Bay 4 with a engine in 10 billion pieces over 5000 tags where sensors hook up and calling BMW for either parts numbers or .PDF schematics. You would think BMW would be good at making a engine by now. This is probably the 4th one this month. Is it common for BMW engines to Seize or self destruct? or are Metro Detroit area Be…

So, i'm up at the local license bureau, licensing a car for one of my customers. I was in a rush since it was late in the day, my licensing girl had already been up there twice that day, so i went myself. So, i got that done, stepped outside and tripped over some uneven pavement. There was a sort of wire from a pole, covered with this old metal (i think to protect people from decapitating themselves on the wire). So i try to grab it to avoid going down, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, i go down and sort of swing around it like a drunken cracked out stripper! HOW EMBARASSING! so, i've fractured my arm, can't get a cast since it's so swollen. I only wish…
