For real. Here's what you need to do: 1. Set your system time to at least after coming Monday (3/27/2006, I set mine to 3/28) 2. Go to this link: http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/dmdindex.htm 3. Click 2007, Cars/Light Trucks 4. You can actually get in and see 2007 info! So far there isn't much though. 2007 Aveo, Terraza, CTS, and some others are up. Oh, and the current Silverado is renamed Silverado Classic. So I think there WILL be a 2007 Silverado.

Mazda and BMW Promise Hydrogen Cars by 2008 Date posted: 03-24-2006 DETROIT — Mazda has delivered the first two hydrogen-powered RX-8s to corporate customers in Japan, while BMW has confirmed plans to bring a hydrogen-powered 7 Series to market within two years. Mazda showed a hydrogen-powered rotary engine in the RX-8 last fall at the Tokyo Motor Show, and the company, in fact, has been working on such engines for nearly 20 years. The two recent test cars were leased to Idemitsu Kosan in Tokyo and Iwatani International in Osaka, both participants in the government-sanctioned Japan Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Demonstration Project. The cars feature dual-fuel delivery sys…

Pop quiz... 1) You come upon a toll booth. The lane is marked SunPass/exact change and there is no 'booth,' merely a basket for change, 25 cents to be exact. You... a) Stop, toss in correct change, proceed. b) Drive at reduced speed, listen to your transponder beep, proceed. c) Stop, toss in a dollar bill. Wait. When gate doesn't open, toss, in another dollar bill. Wait. When gate still doesn't open, honk furiously and yell for an attendant. When attendant walks up and points out its exact change only, returns your dollar bill, keeps one, and returns 75 cents (depositing the toll in the basket), you argue with him about why he only gave you back $1.75. 2) You come up…

So this is the deal, I was going to get a Camaro or Trans Am, but it's apparently out of the question because the insurance is way too high. Basically, this was a kick in the balls because that's all I ever focused on and never looked into any other cars. I really like muscle cars, but unfortunately the insurance is too high and the only ones available in my price range are Camaro, Firebird, and Mustang, but of course I would never buy a piece of garbage Mustang. I need help trying to find a GM used car that comes with a V8 and has decent performance for under $20,000. I was thinking maybe a Monte Carlo SS or a Pontiac Grand Prix, but both are hard to find with a V8. …

No high speed internet for me. Verizon hasn't upgraded the lines here yet -so that's out. So I call Comcast, which is like saying I called China, you end up talking with a bazillion people who don't talk to each other just to get a rough idea of what it takes to get service. So they send this guy out to "survey" the job - I hear nothing for days. Today, I get a letter via snail mail to tell me that these criminals want $875.00 just to run a few hundred feet of cable to my house! Then, they expect me to pay them at least another $50.00 per month for as long as I want service! Can you say "BITE ME"?

I'm on one of the online dating sites, and I've actually met some nice girls from it. No relationships, but it's interesting. A few days ago, this girl bought me an online flower (which you have to pay for), and sent me a number of emails. She approached me, so naturally her interest level is quite high. I've talked to this girl a couple of times on the phone and she seems to like me. We're meeting tomorrow for dinner. Anyway, here's the problem. Just out of curiousity I asked her her height, and she said 5'10" I'm lucky to be 5'8" on a good day if I stand real straight. I told her I was 5'9" in shoes, and she said that she doesn't care. But I'm pretty …

As I was reading about the death of the Park Ave, it got me to wonder what to do with my beater. Its been a good car. The engine and trans run strong (really shows on its good days) It just seems to have fuel issues. It has no pickup, idles quite rough, pretty bad milage(which could be fixed) Parts looking to be replaced: Fuel leak-tiny-right between back tires. Looks like a gas tank replacement.... As above, looks like a new EGR.... And a new hose connect to the rad...... She's rusty, but not too bad (bottom of doors, rocker panels, bottom of hatch) 13 midwesterm winters will do that to a car... If I do it, I can get help to cut the labor costs dow…

Chances are he grew up to be a conservative. At least, he did if he was one of 95 kids from the Berkeley area that social scientists have been tracking for the last 20 years. The confident, resilient, self-reliant kids mostly grew up to be liberals. Uh huh, so... I went to The Haircuttery to get a haircut. A young, winsome Goth chick I hadn't seen there before led me to her chair and asked me how I wanted it cut. I told her I usually get a high fade, 1 on the bottom, tapering into a 6 on top. Her sweet little face frowned, actually, her whole body sort of wilted. "You don't want me to use the scissors?" That second, I looked down at her backpack on the floor and noticed (with what must have been an audible gasp) a button pinned to it. "Is that Edward Scissorhands?" "Yes", she said, with a bit of embarrassment, and a bit of defiant pride. I shut up. I was trapped. Everything else is a blur. It'll grow ba…

Faceoff: Lexus IS350 Vs. BMW 330i Horsepower isn’t always the only thing. by Conor Twomey (2006-03-20) Last year was a bumper year for Lexus, having sold 303,000 vehicles in theU.S. and beating BMW's 266,200 units into second place in the luxury vehicle charts. But before you go feeling sorry for the BMW, consider this: BMW sold almost as many 3-Series models in Europe last year (229,932 units, despite a March '05 introduction) as its entire U.S. sales volume and found a total of 644,000 happy European customers in total, excluding MINI. And do you know how many vehicles Lexus sold in Europe in 2005? A grand total of 28,777, or about 4.5 percent of BMW's sales. In …

NHTSA: SUV Crash Test Scores Released With Good News for Ford Explorer Sport Trac Date posted: 03-18-2006 WASHINGTON, D.C. — Seven 2006 and 2007 model sport-utility vehicles, including the Ford Explorer, Explorer Sport Trac and Honda Pilot, have won five-star ratings for front and side crash protection from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The other winners include the Hyundai Tucson, Mercedes-Benz ML-Class, Nissan Murano and Subaru B9 Tribeca. One pickup truck, the four-door 2006 Toyota Tacoma, received top scores in two crash tests. None of the SUVs or pickups tested received five stars in rollover testing. However, three SUVs earned four stars:…

I've been to Pensacola FL many times. I like to go in the shoulder season and mid-week when it's still warm and not too crowded. I may be getting a free ticket on Southwest. Since I have no other vices and I'm cheap, this is the only area where I spend money. I'm looking at their route map and it looks like I could get fairly close to South Padre Island, TX. Not at ALL interested in going when college students are around, so I will pick another quieter time. After all, it's for R & R. Anybody been? Is it nice? Clean, warm water? Good food? What's there to do?

Why, Tuscon, AZ of course Got these in an email this morning, and I've seen this "boneyard" in person. Military aircraft as far as the eye can see. Email text follows: I agree it is difficult to comprehend the size of the facility and the number of aircraft stored there. Of course the important thing to remember is that they are all capable of being returned to flying condition if the need ever arises. There was an excellent book published a few years ago on the celebration of the "Boneyard's" 50 anniversary. It was written by Philip D. Replacing his 91 Caprice Classic, my dad bought this car used in 96 with only 30,000 on the clock. He needed something with a smooth ride since for his career (rick management) he travels quite a bit to medical facilities across the state. Both myself and my brother started learning to drive on this car. Over the years, very few mechanical problems have arose so when it was time to buy another car for my brother, they bought a 92 and shortly after my mom's sister had bought a 93. Well, now the time has come that now some mechanical issues are coming up and my parents have probably invested a few thousand into the car to keep it running. At the moment, it leaks gas, oil, h…

Cars You'd Like To Own...

To start, this is probably a "been there, done that" thread, but I really don't much care. The question is simple: What car do you forsee or would like to see in your future, new or used. And what might come -- such as the up and coming Camaro -- does not count. It must already be setting on a car lot somewhere. Here's what I'm seeing in or considering to make a part of my future (which more than likely translates to late summer or late fall). 1998 Chevrolet Camaro with about 70,000 to 90,000 miles for around $6,000 to $9,000, Black or Silver. Or... 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado for $2,500 to $8,500, "High Toned Son of a Bitch", Black Only And I won't rule out... 19…

Last night I was involved in a pretty bad accident. I lost control of my car after being cut off by another driver and ended up swerving off the road before hitting a telephone pole. I was with a friend of mine and luckily, she was fine. I was banged up a bit by the impact, but I'll be fine. The car (my IS), was totaled. I know how lucky I am to have walked away, but I can't seem to shake this depression it's put me in. It's the second accident in under 4 months that the car's been involved in, so insurance is a mess and I likely won't be able to replace the car anytime soon. I've had a rough year, so this latest incident just adds to everything.

I present to you my weekend, which consisted of replacing my spark plugs and wires as well as those on my father's car. I must compliment GM Powertrain in the design of the 4.0l Aurora V8. On the surface, looks hard beyond the even row of plugs which are right up front on the aluminum block... However, the ends have these nifty little pulltabs that allow easy removal... And the odd-numbered plugs that look impossible to replace because they're mounted behind and below the coil pack (which itself has several control module above it) is extrodinarily easy because the coil pack can be unplugged and unbolted in minutes... Total time from hood pop to hood shut (inclu…

Reading this post by trinacriabob, it sparked me to think about my own problems. I just find it really hard to fit into my own age group now. Not that I'm incredibly smart or anything (in fact to be honest I'm more like the last in the class), but I find myself a bit more comfortable with people in different age groups. However, my best friend told me that relationships with older people are very "surficial" (not sure if this is the right word). No offense, but I find this somewhat true. It's really not like you can take things straight out of the heart and express yourself. It's just different. That sort of turned me off from hanging around older people. However, tryin…

Ok, I'm debating if it is time for a new 3rd car...... Have now: 93 Cavalier wagon, 3.1, 135k, needs new-gas tank(maybe line also) EGR. Rusty, but for the most part, very trusty... Considering: 98 Mailbu,3.1, 72k good shape for age..newer alt, runs pretty good.. dealership wants $4900...should be ablr to talk them into the low 4s.... Could get 600-700 for the wagon....and put a little cash down too... I was planning to fix the wagon, but this had me thinking: Fix the wagon, or just get the Bu'? What do you think?

Then I get envoled and say Chevy makes some of the best cars and he says no Ford makes by far the best truck in the world. I said No they dont! It goes on and on. We start yelling at each other by now about the 350 vs 351. I made my argument about aftermarkets, Camaro's, and trucks. His base was that its faster and stronger and has way more displacement. I work a ridiculous amount of hours, but I also squeeze in 2 grad courses at night during the semester. Yeah, nuts is the word. Next week, on the semester system, is Spring Break so I ONLY have to go to my full-time day job. Each "book-end" weekend to the break is therefore "free." I'm going hot springing this weekend and to Las Vegas next Friday / Saturday / Sunday (I am itching for some sun and warm temperatures). Las Vegas is so relaxing ... and you can have the best time without even putting a quarter in a slot machine (poolside, Lake Mead, cheap abundant food, entertainment). Yeah... I'm so gay. Hot pink and neon yellow for my black light. It's hard to see, but the yellow makes my entire room glow, while the pink... well, it's just awesome. It all compliments my dance light, multi color strobe light, all red traffic light, red string lights, and white christmas lights well. My room is dangerously electrifying, literally.

So yesterday was another ho-hum sunny, 75 degree day, then last night came and brought with it the evil storm clouds. I was at my girlfriend's house, which was right in the path of the strom, about two blocks away a tornado dropped, threw some loose stuff around, downed some power lines, ripped off some shingles from a few roofs, nothing too damaging, the worst damage was done by baseball (according to the weatherman it even got to be cell phone sized ) hail. We had nothing, no hail, just some rain and enough wind to throw up some loose grass and make my car really dirty. At least I thought that was the worst of it, I found out that really wasn't the worst. About fou…

I think this was mentioned a couple of months ago, when GM reported the STS-V numbers under the new plan. Wonder how the auto mags will feel about this :-> I bet they (Japanese makers) get a pass. http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A...UTO01/603130350

Hey I saw this odd FORD truck thing in the local cemetery and wondered if anyone knew what it was. My boyfriend said it was one of the first SUVS that was made...but he's no expert. And as a side note, I am very happy to get a replacement H for my hood! A nice guy with a del Sol had an extra one because he shaved all of his off. People with del Sols are automatically friends with other people that have del Sols. It's like some kind of secret club. Other del Sol drivers honk at me when they see my car and are always more than willing to help with anything or talk about cars. It's really neat, and that doesn't happen with a lot of things, so I feel lucky I reeeee…

After all this time... from when I started posting drawings back in Feb. 04 to when I recently posted pics of my parent's old vehicles... I have lacked the one crucial element that made me use my digital camera... a scanner. Well, guess what. I now have a scanner... Finally! It's not hooked up yet, though. We are going to wait until we restore the hard-drive for 5th or 6th time. Stupid piece of $h! computer... But... Yay! Scanner! Woo! Haha!

The GM TEN fashion show was held Tuesday, February 28, 2006 in Hollywood. Its the 5th annual show, that pairs celebrities with cool GM cars. For instance, Eva Longoria walked the runway alongside a Corvette Z06, Lindsay Lohan strutted with a Saturn SKY, and Carmen Electra (in a hot red dress) was followed by a Solstice GXP. I was reviewing pictures from the show, and past shows, and noticed something interesting. In 2003, they showed a 1964 Pontiac GTO. AT NAIAS 2004, we got the all new Goat. In 2005, there was a 67' Chevy Camaro. NAIAS 2006 had the lovely Camaro concept. At this years show, there was a modified (and menacing) black 1965 Chevy Impala. At NA…

Star Tribune may require sign-in Last update: March 12, 2006 – 8:27 PM Those with thick accents need not apply? A Minnesota legislator says "clear English pronunciation" should be a requirement for instructors at state colleges and universities. Norman Draper, Star Tribune It's a scenario familiar to university students: One or more of your instructors is foreign-born and speaks English with a thick accent. Usually, you can understand, but sometimes it takes an effort. Occasionally, you don't have a clue what's being said. State Rep. Bud Heidgerken, R-Freeport, figures this is a problem and has proposed a solution: He's introduced a bill intended to ensure that all…

Break through. Like a rock. Let's motor Successful tag lines help define brand for consumers and company By LILLIE GUYER | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS AutoWeek: http://autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?...E/60306014/1041 Break through. Like a rock. Let's motor. Drivers wanted. The ultimate driving machine. Zoom-zoom. Consumers know the vehicle brands these tag lines promote without being told. (For the record, they're Cadillac, Chevrolet trucks, Mini, Volkswagen, BMW and Mazda.) By contrast, some tag lines do little to speak to consumers, advertising critics say: Dream up. Moving forward. Inspiration comes standard. Designed for action. (In this order, they are: Buick, To…

I won't say I never do it. Sometimes my "soft spot" gets affected and I will throw the remaining change or that rare dollar bill into the jar when I go up to the counter at a Starbucks or a pizza place. Tips are for table service. Until the last 5 or 10 years, I rarely saw tip jars at places where you walk up to get your coffee, tea, sandwich or pizza. Now they are everywhere. I don't really dig it and, if you use a credit card, there's that space for a tip that you either fill in or zero out in front of them. Talk about being put on the spot. I will only drop in money 10 % to 20 % of the time. That is if they are genuinely friendly and attentive or if they were…

This thing has been my bigfoot or Nessie for quite awhile. Every time I'd see it, I didn't have my digi, or it was out of battery, or I forgot my memory stick . But today was the day. Parked illegally in a fire lane. Of course, I mean, a vinyl-roofed Lexus isn't driven by Enrico Fermi or anything.

First of the odds and ends is my '71 Ford Mustang. It had a good strong 302 with an automatic. It wasn't really much of a looker, but it was in pretty good shape. I replaced the painted rear bumper with a new chrome one and added the Mustang letters to the trunk after these pics were taken. When I got it the chrome trim at the leading edge of the hood and fenders as well as both bumpers were painted body color. I replaced them all with new chrome pieces.

He says it's a matter of reputation and it's destroying mine. sigh... This perception thing will never end.

I've always liked listening to ghost stories ever since I was a little kid. I've never actually seen a ghost before or had any ghostly encounters, but they still intrigue me. It's said that late at night here at ISU in the Memorial Union, you can hear low moans in the Great Hall, which has names inscribed upon its marble walls of Iowans who died in WWI and WWII. I haven't actually noticed any noises, but sometimes when passing through there late at night you can feel a slight breeze even though the doors are closed. -------- Also, near the town of Mount Ayr in southern Iowa, there is a small cemetery in the middle of a grove of trees called Tedrow Cemetery. Most of …

I am taking 141 Seniors on their class trip from New Jersey to Southern California from Monday, March 13th through Saturday, March 18th. While I probably will jump back on here tomorrow for a little bit and rush back on next Sunday, I just wanted to let everyone know why you won't see me around for the next 7 days. Try to keep everything in balance, and someone PM me if something juicy happens, as I probably won;t be able to go back and read ALL of this upcoming weeks posts! Oh yes, in case you were wondering... I am CRAZY for being (1) a Class Advisor, and (2) taking 141 students all the way to California!!!!!

Since I can't seem to sell the damn thing, I've started riding it the past few days since the weather's been... well... not great, but not cold with temps around 60. It was a relieving experience since life has sucked for the past two months. I had fun. It was extremely muddy, though... the dirt roads were the muddiest I have ever seen them. The one was an absolute mud pit, but they were all mud pits. With practically bald tires, I slid all over the place, but it kept the amount of mud flinging down. So, I was surprised at all the muddier I got. Hmm... muddiest, muddier... are those even words? Anyways, I'll be getting it even more muddy today. Muahahaha...

Are any of you really versatile; you can see both the good and bad of both sides of any situation? And, if you don't initially see one side of the situation, once somebody else explains the "new" side, you're able to understand it almost instantaneously? I'm like this. I'm just curious how unique a trait it is. It's good in some situations, where you're looking for a problem; but, in others, it's like you have ADD and don't know where to side and why, and you seem to constantly be contradicting yourself.

I agree entirely with this article. Ford and GM need to return to building the kind of cars they are good at. They will never be good at building the kind of cars that Toyota, Nissan, and Honda are good at. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/content/1...26886/index.php Harley-Davidson has been making obsolete, inefficient and technologically deficient motorcycles since the 60’s. Despite an unrelenting onslaught of technically superior Japanese product, the Harley-Davidson brand has stayed true to its roots (however inadvertently). They’ve never stopped building bikes that maintain the charm and character of old-fashioned American motorcycling. Or, put another way, Harle…
