Where do you live, give some pictures and baout your town if ya want. I live in Deadwood, SD. The elevation here is 4,550 feet on average. Although it does rapidly slop upward to a peak of 7,076 feet (terry peak). Deadwood, SD is located in the scenic historic black hills of south dakota. Some of the scenic places here in the Black Hills are Mount Rushmore(45 minutes away), and CrazyHorse sculpture. Deadwood, SD is one of the only whole towns to be named a National Historic Landmark by the Department of the Interior. Deadwood, SD and Lead, SD (where i go to school) are seperated by a gorge/gulch that is 1 mile long. Lead, SD is on average a mile high town. Deadwood, SD p…

Welcome to my "workhorses" thread. It's going to be a long one and won't all happen today. This is "Bumpy" my 79 GMC High Sierra 2500. I owned this truck longer than any other vehicle ever. It was always rough and rode the same way. It changed alot over the years - most of the sheetmetal you see went to the scrapyard long ago.

I thought I see if anyone here wanted to be my neighbor... well, one that is a quarter miles away... for $177,900. Yes? No? Crazy? Anyways, it's a ranch house with a large 2 car garage and a swimming pool set on about 2 acres of land. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a nice finished basement (as a "family room"). The only real downside with it is the condition of the roads around here.... and... uh... the race track a few hundred yards from it. Which, I might mention, is why the…

Ever see a certain car and flash-back to vivid memories...maybe good or bad? 1978-80 Grand Prix: My "real" dad and his second wife had a 1978 GP....all I remember is sticky vinyl seats in the hot Florida sun. - My first car was a 1979 GP, which was a hand-me-down from Mom....bought new. Lots of childhood memories and later, beginner driver memories formed there. Had my first car wreck in it. Learned how to do burnouts and slide sideways in it. Insane, youthful, indestructible feelings. - My great Grandma had a base 1980 GP. Lots of memories of going places with her when I was a kid. Lots of trips through the Jack-in-the Box drive-thru. - So when …

Sorry I did not get all the details, but I saw on Autoblog.com. Thje SVT division is getting the plug pulled. I wonder where this will go for Fords performance future? The Ford GT dies in 07 and little has been said about a replacment. Also Ford really has said little on performance models outside the Shelby. Will they farm them out to an outside companies to develope and save money? Much of the Ford GT was done by Roush and Salaeen.

Please note the attached article from the USA Today newspaper; dated 12 November, wherein you will see the Pentagon (Department of Defense) is paying $171.50 per hammer and NASA has paid $600.00 per toilet seat. I am enclosing four (4) toilet seats (valued @ $2,400) and six (6) hammers valued @ $1,029), which I secured at Home Depot, bringing my total remittance to $3,429.00. Please apply the overpayment of $22.00 to the "Presidential Election Fund," as noted on my return. You can do this inexpensively by sending them one (1) 1.5" Phillips Head screw (se…

Winter in NY sucks for one more reason. Potholes. By early March, these things aren't mere holes in the road, and in many cases, they're unavoidable. Case in point: late tonight I was on my way home doing around 35 when a trench (no, really) caught my eye about 10 feet ahead. I would've gladly swerved around this monster, but it crossed all 4 lanes of the road. With nowhere to go and not nearly enough time to stop, I took a deep breath and hit it straight on. This thing rocked my car hard enough for me to feel it. Luckily, my front bumper was saved, but I'm sure my suspension felt it. Ouch. How a crater this deep could even be allowed to exist is beyond me. …

I go to the dealership on Saturday to write up the paperwork and put a deposit down, although the sales manager has already put it into the system with the options I want. I was working a late yesterday (actually, almost always do) and I get an e-mail from the manager saying that my image arrived, he put in my options, and I can now officially say that I have ordered my '07 SKY. The only downside is that I wanted the black & red two-toned leather interior to go with the Silver Graphite exterior. There's a constraint on that interior, so I told him to go ahead and change the interior to the all black leather interior. Hope…

Here's what I consider the top three mot important things I look for in a car. 1. RWD: If it's not RWD then AWD w/ most of the power going to the rear wheels. 2. Manual Transmission: Not a must but very strong preferance! 3. V8 or Inline-6: Short of an exotic motor like a V12 or V16 this is the only way to fly. That's it right there... RWD is most important but the other two I'll compromise on depending on the other redeming qualities of a car. Like a flat-6 Porsche motor would definately NOT turn me off to a 911, but an automatic trans. in a BMW is pretty much a deal killer. So what's the top three things you look for in a car? I left off styling because these days…

I'm not sure if my absense was noticed, but I returned home from Europe last night. I'll have a complete review of my trip (including the cars) in the coming day or so. Right now, I'm off to catch up on sleep, so here's a quick glimpse of my week. In the meantime, I've been working on an article (not Europe-related) for you guys, so stay tuned. It'll be posted soon. It's great to be back! (...that's me with the thumbs up )

For those of you that don't know, I'm going to attend Kettering University in Flint, MI for 4.5-5 years to major in Mechanical Engineering starting the 2006-2007 school year. Well, yesterday was an overnight stay for future/prospective students. First, after showing up at 11:00 AM with the parents, we went to little meeting-type set-ups until around 4. Then, we went to a small expo thing where GM had a stand and I filled out a pre-application type thing for their co-op program. I got my key/key card for the dorm/house and moved my suitcase in and stuff; not much, it was only for a night. Then, my parents left and went to the parents' reception at a local Holiday Inn w…

Two weeks ago just after I installed the Volvo radiator in my Datsun but before I had a chance to install a cooling fan we had a Blizzard over the weekend. So natrually, clutch fan or not I decided to have some RWD fun in the Datsun. I suck and by no means is this a representation of my drifting ability. We just kept driving from one parking lot to the next and had some jouvenile fun. Try doing this in a Scion, Integra or Civic. ------ First we went to the Pheasnat Lane Mall, a Security Guard asks us to move the fun somewhere else but is super nice about it. He made it sound like the video recording on Mall property was a bigger deal than the donuts in the snow. Most o…

I've looked though a hood ornament for most of the time I've been driving. I think my Regal coupe was the last model to have a hood ornament. It seems to go with the overall car. Now they are gone. Even on most Caddies. Do you think they should have bitten the dust? Should they partially come back? What do you think?

DMT Imagine a world where nothing you know now would exsist. An alternate reality if you will. This is what most people decribe DMT as. It has been dubbed the "businessman drug" because the intense effects only last around 30min. The effects are sudden and without warning, where our reality disappears and you see things that have never exsisted. Could you handle this? Would you try it? Who else thinks this is extremely freaky, but cool at the same time? website with more info Hyperspace

Continuing with the C&G Automotive Awards 2006 presentation, which vehicle do you, dear readers, nominate as C&G's Most Powerful Love Magnet Car for 2006? Let's face it, first impressions are important, and most of us choose a vehicle that we feel extends our personality. For those of us who are single, and even for those of us who are taken, but still like to be the recipient of admiring glances on the road, which vehicle tops the list for attracting friends and potential dates?

We all know how kids are. They anxiously await that first taste of freedom that comes with a driver's license, but a lot of them just aren't ready for driving life. Which car do you nominate as C&G's Best First Car, 2006? I nominate the 1973 Chevy Impala four door hardtop with a transplanted 2.5L Iron Duke engine, 3 on the tree transmission, and no power steering or brakes. That should keep 'em out of trouble while learning to drive in a most basic way. I truly believe everyone should know how to drive a manual transmission, and we should all know how to handle a vehicle with no power steering or brakes. Everything else would be cake, and ya never know when you'…

City living can be rough on a car. Parking by feel, heavy traffic, stop&go, pot holes, manhole covers, etc., can age a car quickly. Which new car would you nominate as C&G's Best City Car, 2006?

Well this is a couple days old, but I didn't see it posted here.... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060221/ap_en_...c_guns_n__roses Axl Rose ended his hermit-like lifestyle by venturing out to a Korn tour launch party in Los Angeles and to trendy nightclubs for some post-birthday bashes (his 44th) in Manhattan. Asked at the Korn bash about "Chinese Democracy," which has been in the making for a decade, Rose told Rolling Stone.com that "people will hear music this year." The tracks leaked Wednesday take a different direction from Rose's traditional raunchy Sunset Strip-style rock. "Better" has emo/industrial touches mixed with Rose's trademark vocals and hard rock backdro…

I am really getting sick of this whole trend. Cadillac has embraced this a little too strongly. We all know what an Escalade is - it quickly brings up imagery. However, STS, CTS, XLR, DTS, did I forget any....nuts. I mean, we all know what they are, but then we're really tuned into this whereas average consumers aren't to the same extent. Pontiac is doing this G# thing. I sure hope the new Bonneville isn't a G8. Can't they think of something else? How about this -- the Pontiac Angola? J/K. I voted "Yes...I am sick of it." Between retros and alphanumeric naming of cars, it makes me wonder if designers and marketing people have reached the limits of their crea…

I have to stop buying stuff mainly because it looks good. This damn thing has reset itself on me about 20 times today and I have no idea what the problem is. It's so damn irritating. I'd kick this thing to the curb if I had the money for a replacement lined up. Maybe it just needs to cool down but it's been grating on my nerves for the past 4 days. For future reference, is there a more dependable brand of router out there?

Four new TV ads for its just-released GTI performance car that broke this week during the Winter Olympics are the most energized and brand-correct ads to come from VW in five years -- back when the German auto maker was setting an ad standard for companies in and out of the automotive category. The ads'…
