Buick
Founded in 1903 by David Dunbar Buick, Buick is one of America’s oldest automobile brands and the oldest active division of General Motors (GM). Known for pioneering innovations like the overhead valve engine, Buick became a symbol of affordable luxury throughout the 20th century. It played a key role in GM’s growth and today positions itself between Chevrolet and Cadillac, offering premium vehicles in both the U.S. and China—its largest market.

I got a response back from Buick about the Velite, saying it was "still under consideration." I also read that Steve Shannon owns a 1961 Alfa Romeo, so I guess he's a convertible guy. Maybe this means he'd like to have the Velite built so he can drive a convertible from his own company.

I didn't see this anywhere else and I don't really care enough to post it in the GM section because Buick is really the only GM company that I care about, though it's interesting to see the other figures. http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2006/01/05/205609.html Key facts: -Buick Sales are down only 8.8% from last year -Only 92,000 LaCrosses were sold this year (8 grand short of the the 100k total we were hoping for) -The LaCrosse sold approximately 8,000 more vehicles than the Century and Regal combined in 2004. -The Lucerne has sold just shy of 9,000 vehicles for the year. -The Rendezvous is STILL growing in sales despite it being 4 years old…

What trans shift kit will work on my 92 Roadie? I'm not sure wich one to order... I just need to firm up the sloppy shifts, and see if I can get the delayed engagement in drive fixed. I need part numbers because I'm not sure exactly what version of the700r4/4l60 was used on my year. Thanks

This is the Buick Verano Hatchback which debuted at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China a few days ago. Using the new the Opel/Vauxhall Astra hatchback as a base, Buick made some minor tweaks with a new grille, headlights, and wheels. Inside is a three-spoke steering wheel, eight-inch touchscreen with Buick's Intellink, and Apple CarPlay intergration. The base engine for the Verano Hatchback is a 1.5L inline-four with SIDI engine with 116 horsepower and 107 pound-feet of torque. The Verano GS Hatchback gets a turbocharged version of the 1.5 four that produces 166 horsepower and 184 pound-feet. A six-speed dual-clutch automatic comes standard on the Verano, while a s…

If you read the camaroZ28.com forum, you'll recognize the screen name "guionM," a knowledgeable poster who also contributes here. He made some interesting comments about the B-P-G channel today, and they should be of interest to Buick and Pontiac fans: "There are a number of cars headed for, and these are the key words: 'Buick-Pontiac-GMC'. Between this summer and 3 years from now, Buick is getting a Zeta-based sedan which will be a little longer than the G8. Pontiac is getting the G8 ST and a revised Solstice. The Lecrosse will be redone on Espilon and will probally be called Regal. Pontiac as a stand alone brand (as well as Buick) is for all practical purposes over. …

Wow is all I have to say. I know it's new, but I've noticed typos, I don't care for the layout, and there's a reduction in the number of pictures they show for each model. And only 3 of the colors available on the LaCrosse (black, light silver and brown) are the only colors you DON'T have to pay extra for. And the price of the base LaCrosse went up by over a thousand. The price of the base Lucerne went up about 2500. You now pay over $30,000 if you want a base Lucerne that still doesn't have a telescoping steering wheel and comes with a manual a/c, while the base LaCrosse has tilt/telescopic and auto a/c. One of the pictures is of the gear selector, and the capti…

Okay... #1 - It's stated on the Buick website that the front and rear defrosters turn on when the remote start is used on the Lucerne and the temp is below 40 degrees. Is this true for the LaCrosse as well? It doesn't say. #2 - It says the Lucerne features a 4-speed electronically controlled transmission that is "enhanced". Enhanced in what way? Finally, why on Earth has the Lucerne only been given 1-auto down window?! I mean, even the Rainier features 2... as well as the competition mostly has dual auto down windows (with auto up). What's goin' on here? It can't cost THAT much more money, can it?

Good news everyone! Buick has announced that the Avenir name will go into production. Before you get your hopes up and think that it's going to be used for a new model, Buick is planning to use Avenir for their new luxury sub-brand. “Avenir will be Buick’s signature. The highest expression of the luxury experiences we’re delivering now and in the future,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick Sales, Service and Marketing. Think of Buick's Avenir as GMC's Denali brand. Models badged as Avenir will feature a three-dimensional mesh grille, large-diameter wheels, unique trim finishes and materials; and seat details. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-BUICK-...1QQcmdZViewItem Despite of the common "guppy face" name, I've always loved the last gen Rivera all around on the exterior and while the interior I thought was quite nice, I thought it was a bit bland and lacking something. This car could be a possibility of being my next car and if that's the case one thing I have considered doing is maybe installing a wood dash. After seeing some of these pics on that auction I'm not so sure any more. Perhaps one with black or beige (definately not blue!) leather and a darker wood it might stand out a bit more. Any thoughts?

So.... This guy is the head of Buick design in Michigan, and I was appalled by his presentation of the Cascada. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPL8nxbTKDE Problems I had: "The fit and finish is superior in this vehicle." Superior to what? "It's a very simple interior." You have 46 buttons on the center stack. FORTY-SIX. All touching each other. "This car is not all about the latest technologies.... It's more about the driver's experience, and sense of well-being." Perhaps you shouldn't lead off with saying this car doesn't have the latest technology. "... very simple controls, very simple layout." FORTY-SIX buttons and 4 dials in your center stack,…

I owned Buick's all my life. Always traded them in for new models every two or three years. Recently I moved on to something else when they did away with the LeSabre. Went to the Buick garage last week to have "Auto Butler" applied to my present car TCH and the service person took me to work in a new Lacrosse. I was shocked trying to enter the car. I practically knocked my head off on the roof because it was so extremely low. If this is what Buick classifies as their big car then I shall never own another Buick. Getting out was just as hard without knocking off the top of my head. Rise the roof level so people can enter and exit the car without a headache!

Let's see if I can narrow these down clearly and consisely for ya: 2009 Buick Lucerne CXL Options include: heated/cooled seats, harmon/kardon radio, heated wood steering wheel, wood shift knob, bluetooth, chromed 17" wheels. Currently available with this package (which makes it enticing for me to try an "older" car). $18,995, 34K miles, could prob talk them down a bit. 2010 or 2011 Buick LaCrosse CXL Either the 3.0L or 3.6L V6. Satisified with what would be included on the CXL trim so I wouldn't need to shop around for a special package. For around $26,995-27,995, at approximately 13-15K miles. Situation: job is unst…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 29, 2012 General Motors released a teaser picture of the new Buick Enclave which will make its official debut at the New York auto show in April. The picture which teases the interior of the new Enclave looks the same as the new Acadia, except for the different color lighting. So that means the Enclave will have Buick's Intellilink system, an extensive use of LED ambient lighting, and new switchgear. Also, expect the center airbag seen in the Acadia to appear as well. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 11, 2013 Since the Opel Adam went on sale earlier this year, many wished for the Adam to come to the U.S. as a Buick. Those wishes could become reality. "We are looking at it. Nothing is decided. But it's an example of some of the Opel product being used elsewhere in the world," said Opel Chairman Karl-Thomas Neumann. If the green light is given for Buick to get the Adam, don't expect it to come until the first redesign. The current model doesn't meet U.S. safety and other regulatory requirements. "We have to work on the car. That's one of the issues that we have to look at," said Neumann. Editor's Note: Ba…

According to Financial Times, Buick is getting a shot in the arm with the new LaCrosse, a media blitz ("Take a look at us now" and "You've changed and I love it"), and, eventually, some smaller, fuel-efficient vehicles. Peter DeLorenzo of autoextremist.com, for one, says, "Buick can absolutely capture a younger, more contemporary audience. They'll do it by unleashing a series of sensational looking, eye-catching designs combined with edgy image advertising that will delete any previous hoary notions of Buick”. Buick haters (and we all can see you for who you are, despite your denials) needn't bother, but others can click here to read the entire story.

To say the car sells under 30,000 and two seconds later flash a "base price, 29,999" ? Who is running the show over there at GM publicity, promotion and advertising, they are morons, sent in undercover to undermine General Motors by the Asians and auto journalists ! Really ! Check out a Hyundia commercial or Toyota or Mazda or Nissan or even Ford and it doesnt look like a bunch of morons trying to sell you laundry soap because "look, see it comes out brighter and is on sale" THERES SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH GM'S MARKETING DEPARTMENT FIRE THEM ALL !

These are the only three current Buick models. This reminds me of the fading days of Oldsmobile. Do we have confirmation that Buick is not going away? or is this a ship that GM is quietly filling with lead, like Olds? I think the name has some resonance with the older crowd still, and I wonder - why are there no plans for an Epsilon Buick? The size would be perfect for an entry-level Buick, IMO, and the quality of Epsilon is obviously now quite good. Thoughts?

While I am not a die hard Buick guy I saw the new Lacrosse today at the Cleveland Auto SHow today. It was a very impressive car. The interior is fantastic and the over styling less the grill was spot on. The grill I thought could be shorter but it was not anything that would keep me from considering one. GM should do well with this car if it is price right.

From China Car Times, here are some more pictures of the new Chinese Buick Excelle sedan. Maybe it's the gray-ish color of the body, rather than white, but in my opinion, they look pretty good; I particularly like the proportions of the photo in the bottom right.

During a lull in work this afternoon I was nosing around a Buick Pontiac dealer in West Palm Beach. A CXL V-6 model was in the showroom. It was platinum with a gray interior, six person seating. To tell you the truth it did not look bad for a base model with leather, chrome wheels and driver confidence package. The seating is comfortable and the dash and interior looks a lot cleaner than what I am accustomed to. The body lines are interesting in person. The horizontal body crease just below the belt line flattens out, disppears, around the wheel wells. The creases in the hood flatten out and disappear as they go down toward the grille. I looked at a black Lucerne CXS tha…

The GM FastLane Blog presents a transcript of a recent speech by Bob Lutz, under the heading "Re-Igniting the Passion," dated April 13, 2006. In the transcript, Lutz is quoted that GM has big plans for Saturn and all of its brands. So I posted a message asking for more information. In case they do not use it, here is what I wrote: "Mr. Lutz, it was interesting to read your statement, "So we have big plans for Saturn, as we do for all of our brands." We can certainly see and GM has clearly explained what is in store for Saturn. But GM has done a poor job relating what is the future for one of your cornerstone brands, Buick. No one is asking you to reveal future prod…

Does any GM person know anything about this? I found this posted on another website. It's pretty exciting info because it's about time Buick produced a really fun car. "for what its worth, I was at work today and a friend of mine says he was told about a convertible Buick possibly to be built at our Orion assembly. I said the Velite? he didnt know what name it was but that was the only Buick vert' I've heard of. So I found the pilot team and they said they have been doing feasibility tests on a vert' Buick.....don't know how much to read into it but who knows.....we can run any platform at Orion.....but what about moving the G6 to Fairfax and building the Camaro, Veli…

i bought a 08 Lucerne several months ago. Once in a while the compass goes crazy, flipping between headings. Then, suddenly settles down and becomes accurate. Anyone else have this problem and any idea what might cause this? I'm wondering if things like high voltage power lines might cause a magnetic disturbance. Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

[source: Motor Trend] First Test: 2010 Buick LaCrosse CXS Dr. Right: A Buick to Lure Back the Medicos [/font] There was a time long ago, boys and girls, when all telephones had cords, music could be purchased only on cumbersome black discs, and cigarettes were advertised on TV as a digestive aid. Back in those blurry, black-and-white days, well-off professional Americans in the prime of their careers aspired to own Buicks. The brand became known as "the doctor's car," because it provided most of the creature comforts, quiet performance, and gravitas of a glitzy Cadillac without causing patients or clients to question their house-call …

There are still a lot of unanswered questions concerning the sale of Opel/Vauxhall to PSA Groupe. A fair number deals with Buick as a number of their products (including the new Regal) are intertwined with Opel. GM executives say this will not affect Buick's lineup down the road. “The sale of Opel will have no impact on the fresh new lineup Buick is building out,” said Duncan Aldred, GM’s vice president of global Buick and GMC during the launch of the 2018 Regal this week. “This is very much part of our portfolio plan,” said Mark Reuss, GM’s executive vice president of global product development, purchasing, and supply chain to Car and Driver. “As we said, Opel …

Is there a place for Future Global niche Vehicles at Buick? With the addition of the Insignia, and a future Theta (Centieme?) Buick looks to have strong lineup coming. My question what potential is there for niche vehicles? (Likely small volume imports) An Insignia sports tourer based Electra? An insignia coupe?
