Alright guys I am in Phoenix at the auto show here with the Jeep exhibit and I had the day off today so I did some looking around and I brought my Kodak with me. First the Silverado..... Let me say, this car, um I mean truck, is awesome! With the new rack and pinion and the interior that is awesome in the LTZ and way more than expected in the LT, I feel like I'm driving an aura or maybe even a cadillac in it. It was so smooth and quiet! But... the plastic on the dashboard was pretty hard and the tan leather was kind of dirty, I know it is a demo vehicle, but the leather can be hard to clean, but it was high grade stuff. Power was great, even with the small V8. The 5.…

OK, many of us saw ASIMO fall on his head today, but for a $170K robot it's pretty amazing to see how fluid his motion is. HOWEVER, check out this little guy... the Sony QRIO...he can throw balls, rollerskate, pick himself up after being pushed over, and probably even walk correctly up stairs. This robot makes ASIMO look mentally handicapped. (wait for the very end)japanese fan dance

The Year Is: 1988 The year is 1988. You've recently moved to Minnesota and just now learned it occasionally snows there. Since you don't want your current daily driver to get rusty with all the road salt, you decide a domestic front wheel drive car with sporty pretensions would fun to drive in the winter without the risk of ruining your extra-magnum sized Suburban. Whether it's a left over 1987 or one of the new 1988s doesn't make any difference to you. What does though, is which one? 1988 Pontiac LeMans 1987 Buick Skyhawk T-Type 1987 Chevrolet Celebrity Eurosport VR 1987 Chevrolet Sprint Turbo 1987 Dodge Charger 1987 Dodge Lancer Shelby 1987 Do…

Okay... So, the funny thing is, every car I've ever owned I've never had to really buy new tires because the car has always died before I've needed new ones. Now, with my current car, I've had it a while, and I bought new tires when I first got it because my mechanic recommended it before I actually purchased it, but now I'm wondering if I need new ones. Exactly how bad do you let tires get before you change them? I have tread on them.. it's not like they're bald. However, yesterday I skid for the first time since I've owned the car since April 2002. Now, I'm thinking it was simply because of the road... ... it rained lightly yesterday and I was on my way to th…

....never mind. I picked a Sensa e250 2GB player today, went to charge it, and the whole thing shut down on me. Me being new to Mp3 players, freaked out. After playing with it for a while, I got it to turn off, then on. All good. I was worried there for a minute... Now I have to get an ipod too....Nano, I think.

Ever have a day where little things pile on? First I put my copy of First Impressions of Earth in my cars cd player and its scratched to hell. Then I run to the store for a few things, get home and go to fire up the grill for hamburgers. Out of propane. Then I go into work (I spend like 6 hours a week in my office, I can do most of my work from home) and find a memo about a mandatory sexual harassment thing Friday. Hand written at the bottom: "David, you're going to be there" Then I get a phone call that boiled down to this: (disembodied voice) You didn't pay your mortgage (me) You are teh liar, I totally paid (disembodied voice) lawl, I just lawled all over …

I was talking to my cousin over the weekend. She has a co-worker who returned an FJ Cruiser off lease and got into a new Edge. I was happy to hear that. This got me thinking... is there a source of information somewhere that lists percentages of models traded for others? For example, statistically, what are the top 3 vehicles traded in for an Impala, and so forth. I'm sure some surprises would be in store. Does anyone know where this information can be found?

So, I am driving this Tundra into a small business parking lot. It's got about 50k miles on it, and I've owned it since new. It is quiet and solid as the day it was born. I think to myself, "I really like this. I think this is one I'll keep." Seriously, this was a dream/nightmare that woke me up last night. I've got real issues.

I did it Monday night. I was breaking down a cardboard box to get it to fit in the garbage can, and it came up and nailed me in the right eye. Tuesday morning it was absolutely excruciating - it wouldn't stay open or stop tearing. I went to the hospital, and they sent me home with a prescription for antibiotic eyedrops and two Percocets (stupid pills). I spent most of Tuesday and yesterday in little to no light. Today is the first day I can tolerate a computer screen without pain. My vision is still blurry and will take a week to heal, so no riding this weekend.

Automotive News July 30, 2007 - 12:01 am As legislators, regulators and automakers look for ways to improve fuel economy, they must remember that consumers will make the ultimate choices. And that's going to cause a few surprises. One example: Consumers are bidding up the prices of used cars and trucks equipped with fuel-saving diesel engines. That contradicts conventional wisdom, which holds that Americans gave up on diesels in the 1980s. Some environmentalists turn up their noses at diesel engines, but technological advances have made diesels more palatable to U.S. consumers. The Power Information Network estimates that U.S. consumers will buy more than 500,00…

alright so im sure everyone remembers the 2004 monte carlo intimidator i loved regardless of the bad taste it left in most enthusiasts mouths... well she has since departed the world of road-going cars upon getting into a fight with a tree... basically what happened was i was driving along a winding road in pennsylvania where i work at a summer camp... it had rained recently and the roads were slick... i came up on one nasty corner that could almost qualify as a hairpin which has next to no bank and a hill in the middle... long story short the rear end slid out on me, i fishtailed for about 50 feet then ran into a tree... everyone in the car was fine and walked away a lit…

I can't believe what just happened to me. This kind of crap only happens on TV, until now. So I was walking home from the bar with a friend and we thought we might go buy some... herbs. He knew a park where people normally sell so we went there and asked somebody. Guy ended up leading us to a girl who phoned a friend. This should have been hint #1. Why do we need to go somewhere? Nope, we're drunk, and too trusting. Proceed! So the guy proceeds to tell us that the seller is really paranoid and he needs to do the deal for us. (Hint #2) We agreed because me and my friend are both bigger than him and good runners, should he try something stupid. So sure enough he takes of…

I was impressed by the ratings Ford got in the latest issue of cr. Someone at Ford must of found out who to pay off and how. Now it's GMs turn to find out who to pay off. They seemed to be all over the board. Oddley enough, there were a few GM cars that did great in JD Power but not so good with cr. I guess that goes back to my first statement. I did notice that the acura tl got a near perfect rating and the HHR did not. Funny, our experience is the complete opposite. Add to that, our Cobalt got a worst rating than our HHR. Not that either was bad, but our Cobalt actually was put together better in the end. With all the hoopla of cr not recommending the cam…

Hello, Just wanted to say goodbye. I won't really cancel my membership here, but I just felt that most of my threads got ignored these days and gets buried in the back never to be retrieved, also, I know most people are sick of me whinning about things, spamming with all the nonsense(including my less than stellar pics), and all the craps I posted here, so I felt it is time for me to take a break. I already post in more than 16 - 20 boards, so, for now, I will be focusing more on improving my 3 sites, and decided to part with so many great people I met here. I may come back later(god knows when), but I guess, I will take some rest for now. I know most people hate me her…

and you see something that just blows your mind? I got the chance to take a 5 door Astra XE for a test drive today. (And it was quite fun to drive, I must say) First off, they had to put the ugliest wheel covers on the XE.....like ever. And they charge 960 bucks for A/C, 1300 bucks for a auto trans.... Then I look at an XR, only to find-for like 500 bucks more, you get a bunch more (alm wheels, a/c, better radio, steeing wheel controls..) What the heck? What is the point of the XE? Unless you don't want A/C......... Crazy stuff I tell you....

Here's some reasons I hate 2008: 1. Cellphones and the incessant chattering of the masses, anywhere, anyplace 2. Overly refined cars and trucks. To the point of numbness. No sense of being connected to the road and surrounding environment. 3. The Green agenda. Sick to death of seeing it in every newscast, in every magazine and newspaper. The self righteous do-gooders have hijacked any remaining joy in life. It's the new religion. Cultish almost. 4. Vulgar and low class celebrities. 5. Buicks are no longer Buicks. I could go on and on.....tell us some reasons you hate 2008.

I mean, if you're going to close my topic, that was WAAAAAY more civil than 99% of the political bullsh*t that went on around here the last 2 months, at least you could send me a message that provides a reason. Had I received a reason, I wouldn't be mad at all. I know there are lots of Pennsylvania forumers here, so I thought I would share this neat promotional video of Philadelphia & surrounding areas from around 1951. Pre-offshoring,pre-drive thru, and mostly pre-suburbia, this is an interesting blast from the past. Ugh...my Y key on my laptop just broke off, so now everytime I want to press it, I have to fumble around for the little rubber nob that it originally stuck to. Pain in the ass. I'm really tempted to take a tiny dab of superglue and put it back on myself, but since this is a lease laptop, I should probably just do it the correct way and have it taken in to get fixed. You'd be amazed how often you use the letter 'y' and don't even realize it. Oh well, at least another vowel like 'a' or 'e' didn't break off, otherwise I'd be even more frustrated. Ironically, the y key broke off when I typed the word "Camry" in my last post. Damn you, Dell. I've only had this for a …

I was so happy to see this: http://news.yahoo.com/s/eo/20060624/en_tv_...HNlYwN5bmNhdA-- Futurama will be back (with Billy West, John Dimaggio and Katey Segal) on Cartoon Network in 2008. While the Simpsons have really lost their bite, Futurama was just hitting its stride when FOX assured that it would fail by pre-empting with crappy football, changing dates and times to a point where fans had no idea if it was going to be on or not. All right! It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two liter bottle of Shasta and my all-Rush mix tape, let's rock!

You guys are likely not going to have info on this... but I have to ask anyway... Many of my toys from the '70s (Stretch Monster, Ding-a-Lings, Girder and Panel) have gotten serious websearches to understand why they came about. Sometime in the '70s, I got my only actual pedal car. My neighbor likely grabbed it from the trash around 1974/75 since it was already fairly broken when I got it and my father threw it into the trash around 1980 because even though I had long outgrew it, I preferred wheeling around in it as opposed to riding a proper bike. Yeah, I was a strange, car-crazy child. I've been trying to find info on the pedal cars of the '70s, but everything come…

Bought this for $15 from my wife's aunt. Her son used to drag race a '60s El Camino at the local strip. Having done numerous upgrades, motor swaps & other sundries in the backyard garage in the '70-80s, undoubtedly this vice came in handy. As the son hasn't lived in his mom's house for a few decades and no longer wrenches on cars, I thought I'd rescue it. Columbian 604-M2 machinist's vise. Disassembled, de-greased/de-rusted, stripped 5 coats of paint off (red, silver, blue, orange, black), deburred, painted 2 coats of Rustoleum (could maybe use another, but it's a vise), greased & reassembled. Works real nice, pretty heavy construction. Luckily for a guy trying …

I don't want to turn this into politicizing, or an attack on any one group or party, though it is clear what party my outrage is against. I am not trying to attack the group, but moreso the leaders of it who are in office now. The ones who are, sadly, corrupting their party and leading this nation down ever more tenser halls. Why should we divide so much? Why can't we all just agree and meet in the middle, that's supposed to be the beauty of our government, is that we have two parties to check and balance each other for the benefit of the public. One party that favors more government involvement and one that favors less. But where did we go wrong that all we can do is t…

This could be in "Other Guys," but I think that forum's better for discussion on news, not on opinions. Looking at the things Cadillac is coming out with, with exaggeration on the NG CTS, is it a stretch to say that BMW could easily start losing ground to its competitors? Okay, so the CTS is just one model, but figure in the coupe and wagon that will come out after the sedan and you're going to get a great vehicle. We all know the sedan will be sexy just judging by what we've seen of it, inside and out. It's got everything that Cadillac's Art and Science theme had and more. A very crisp design, the NG CTS could very easily steal many consumers from BMW's band of buyers. …

Sixty8, you should know what I found, a 1981 Chrysler Imperial Frank Sinatra Edition. It is located in New York and is on Ebay. I have already contacted the seller because I find this a nice and desirable car. For me it is a must have. Classy and there was 148 built in 81. So far it is at $800. I will see what the buyer says because I want to bring it back to Canada but I may have time to meet up with some members if I do. SHipping is too expensive so we would rent a U-Haul or borrow our friends flatbed to bring it over. Just depends if the buyer will sell it to Canadians. If not then I will be extremely mad because these are rare. It is such a good price too for what …

I know almost all of us have vehicles that need their oil changed and as enthusiasts most of us do them on our own, I would assume. Well let's post our oil changes as we go, just for the heck of it. Discuss oil, filters, intervals, anything oil change related. I used to work in the oil change and tire industry and I grew a weird passion for the topics so they're fun to talk about for me. Well, Let's hear it! Here's kind of a general format(and my most recent oil change): 2013 Ford Escape 2.0T AWD 08/17/15 Out: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-30 Filter: Purolator Synthetic 4950 miles on oil. So since the last thread went well, this was another series I used to do over at MT. Speaking of which, they made this an easy one with their main piece over there being a kinda-comparison of the new Acura supercar to the much-loved 458 Italia. For those interested- http://www.motortrend.com/news/new-acura-nsx-or-used-ferrari-458/ So the premise is simple, if you have ~220K burning a whole in your pocket, which do you buy, the new NSX or a used 458 Italia? If you want to throw in an alternate answer in ADDITION to your pick, feel free to do so, but at least answer the topic question. Thanks.

I come home today to find this in my driveway: Yeah...not the Amber Bronze '07 Impala LS my mom took to work this morning. It's a rental while the Venture is in the shop getting some collision damage repaired. The original plan was for mom to borrow my grandad's car (the Impala) while the van was getting worked on, but mom said the smoke smell in the car (grandad's a heavy smoker) was bothering her, so she called the at-fault driver's insurance to see if a rental would be covered. Begrudgingly, mom was told she would be reimbursed, and she promptly called the local Enterprise to request a minivan. They were out of minivans, so she upgraded to an SUV. So, what we've g…

^^^ That is a line from a recent Brad Paisley song, 'Letter To Me'. I could quote a bunch of other songs, since it is a theme that runs through many songs (country and rock and otherwise) and writings.... BUT, as I was listening to that Brad Paisley song the other day, it reminded me that the idea of "better days" and "the best years of one's life" have always made me wonder. Maybe I've never really understood the concept or the human nature of labeling what the "best years" or "better days" are, but it just seems to me that one can't really determine what those are ... until one's life has ended. Sure, you can look back and say, 'Oh, those were better days' or 'Tho…

Just wanted to let you all know that I won't be around for the next 3 days as I am taking the family on a mini-vacation to visit our nation's capital - Washington, DC. Two years ago we made this trek during the spring break and enjoyed it so much that we've been wanting to go back since. We took good old Amtrak back in 2007, but this time we'll be driving down in the AURA. Of course the weather isn't suppose to be so great on Tuesday and Wednesday, but we'll make the most of it (our plans include visiting a lot of museums these two days). Should be back late Wednesday and will likely post again on Thursday (I'll need a day to recouperate before heading to NYC on Frida…

http://www.pcworld.com/article/168050/will..._chrome_os.html Will Consumers Take a Shine to Google’s Chrome OS? Todd R. Weiss Jul 8, 2009 11:30 am Will Consumers Take a Shine to Google’s Chrome OS?Americans love chrome on motorcycles and toasters, but will average consumers take a shine to the Google Chrome operating system? Google announced its lightweight Chrome computer operating system today and says consumers can expect it by the end of 2010. Google describes the operating system as lean and mean and perfect for small Internet-friendly devices that are both easy-to-use and transport - such as a Netbook. True, Netbooks are very popular with consumers right n…

So, what were the worst seats you have experienced in a car you've owned or driven regularly? For me it was the painful seats in an '85 Mercedes Benz 300TD wagon. It was like sitting on a concrete block.

I'm going to Lake Havasu this weekend, with the gf and her family... ... you are probably thinking "so what," and wondering why I would bother mentioning it... Well, they just bought a boat... the fastest boat I will probably ever ride in... It has a twin whipple charged 542 (I think that's the correct displacement), making 1300 hp! This thing is estimated to go 120 mph on the water! I just hope I don't piss my pants. I have never seen two superchargers, side by side, on one intake manifold... it's sweet!

1994 Ford Powerstroke - Nevermind that the truck itself is hideous... ...but the interior? Please. Sure, some concepts have weird, ugly, and downright stupid interior designs, but at least they're trying something out. Where's the 'concept' of this concept? --Brought to you by 3:14am. 3:14am - What the hell are you doing this late?

This name has got to be a psudeonym. G.M. Ford? C'mon. A blind man picking out his favorite porno could tell that's fake. Strangely, I feel inclined to pick up one of this guy's novels. NOTE: If you're Buickman, the title of this book and the author's name has a sick twist of irony.

Several members have little projects going on, I figured I'd have a thread for mine. This will be an ongoing thread, if for no other reason than because I like documenting my progress. After building my own mower and rekindling an hobby I had when I was younger, I thought it might be fun to fix and flip mowers for some extra crash and as something to do. I went from having no lawn mower to having 6! Not sure how that even happened but that's ok. The first one is of course the Brute, which is my keeper. To build it I was given a donor mower with a good engine that needed TLC and a well used but still solid deck. After that was finished I came across a couple of mo…

They weren't too happy with the 3, the power delivery is apparently not very linear (look at the dyno chart), despite the large peak numbers. If you aren't between 3,000rpms and 5,500 rpms, there is considerably less TQ being made. Full Article

OK, I feel a bit odd making this post here, but you guys have been my friends for so long now that I had to let you know what's up. Later this year, I will be publishing a collection of my writings from about 1979 to the present. For a while now, I have been sifting through old notebooks, and boxes of papers to extract this stuff. The book will be composed of prose, poetry and song lyrics that have needed a mission for a very long time. I'll update you later as things progress.

Yes my friends, I'm sad to write that my beloved Saturn SKY was the unfortunate punching bag of a silver 2000 Monte Carlo this past Saturday afternoon. Long story short, I was in the right lane, the MC (out-of-state driver -- Ohio) was in the middle lane, she thought she was passing her hotel and decided to just turn right into me. I tried to swerve so she'd miss me, but instead of breaking she hit the gas and plowed into my driver's door, the driver's rear fender, small portion of the left rear bumper and damaged the chrome rim (and tire damage b/c the plastic inner fender is now scraping the tire). Very pissed, but was surprised b/c the wife jumped out of the car rea…

alright well ive been promising 68 pictures of my grandpa's Datsun for a pretty long time now... and today i finally got a chance to take some... unfotunately all i had with me was my phone... so the pictures arent of the best quality... but they can suffice until im able to get better pictures... front view... the hood is up because the battery is currently being charged... i think this picture looks like one of MrDM's "hot rod" filter chops engine... sorry for the blurriness... it says "Nissan OHC" on the top of the engine interior... my favorite part is the analog clock dead center on the dash... dont know if you can see it or not rear... pretty tidy little …

4-1-07/ GM Headquarters: Today, Rick Wagoner has announced an unanomous decision to cancel all further production of the GMC Acadia. "With the Saturn Outlook and the upcoming Chevrolet Lambda (called "Criuse," just announced today) on the roads, and GMC being known for a tough-truck brand, it will be pulled from the production line." There is a rumor that a replacement, supposedly more rigid and GMC-like, according to insiders, is expected to debut at the Frankfurt show. Recalls for the Acadia are planned to start Tuesday, along with production halt. "The idea of pulling the Acadia off the market is probably a good idea, for GMC's sake and its reputation." Bob Lutz …

A few months ago things got distant between Marcia & I. We have been together for almost SIX years, & more importantly are tied to each other permanantly through our three year old daughter Sofia. As of this past weekend she has decided to move on & wants to be with an old friend and ex. In some #@%$& up way as these things tend to happenat the exact same time one of my best friends ever whohappens to also be an ex had her heart broken. So I went from having a "separation" with Marcia to what is basically a divorce which made me absolutely miserable to falling back in love with someone that I ever really got over. My head is spinning, bu…

...and I couldn't talk smack. Went to Maryland today to my cousin's son's graduation party. They live on a farm, and had one of their pastures opened up for parking. The lot was brimming with Ford trucks, and I didn't have my Sierra to do a smackdown... I had to drive my mom's Cobalt! I was so mad! :AH-HA_wink:

Just about six months ago I fell in love with a tripple Brown Buick. It was a 455 powered BiCentenial LeSabre four door hardtop. The car was on craigslist for $1300 O.B.O. Today while looking through my 47 gigs of car photos I found the photographs the kid posted on craig's of the LeSabre. I thought since the car is now Fly's I'd post them for his & your viewing pleasure. After I got the car I painted (rustoleum rattle can) the lower 1/4s that were primered, put hubcaps on it & installed the stainless steel trim that had at one point been held on by drywall screws... I used non-corrosive ones and followed suit. And here's the after: http://www.c…

My coworker in the cubicle next to me bought a '17 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk in gray...very sharp. We were out in the parking garage with a bunch of our coworkers checking it out and my Limited which were parked side by side...noting the various commonalities and differences. One error on the Trailhawk (in that medium gray) is that the left side window trim is all black while the right side trim is all black except for the back quarter window, which has bright window trim like my Limited. A factory 'oops' I presume. Sharp rig, though..
