For me- #1. Betetta GTZ and Calais Quad Four Olds. You guys know of my love of small cars, these two are just awesome, and I think about them all the time. #2. 1964 Chevy Malibu SS....Everyone thinks of the 64 GTO, 64 SS Chevelle is a nice design, you see 65's but not 64's. #3. 49 Olds 88...larger motor, lighter body15 years before the GTO. Paced the Indy 500 that year. #4. Lumina Z34...came with a five speed, wore the understated look of the GM era well... #5. 1926 Pontiac...god clean first year design for Pontiac. Only seen a few in my life but they seem damn near perfect. Your lists....?

After an entire month of above average temperatures and little if any snow, it looks like winter is finally ready to make a comeback. A Blizzard Watch is currently in effect for my county (Westchester, NY), along with approx. 10 other counties in Southern New England and Long Island. I'm sure Paulie (LI) is getting ready for this as well. Snow is expected to overspread my area in the early afternoon tommorow and become heavy through tommorow night and Sunday. Last I heard whiteout conditions were likely for late tommorow night. Most forecasts are calling for 8-12", though some are forecasting higher amounts. I'll have to get out early tommorow before the storm arr…

This Dream Garage thread is going to be similar to one I did recently where you have to pick from certain choices to fill certain criteria, or roles. But this time it will be based on nationality rather than price. You will have mostly the same roles in this one- * One off-road vehicle- Must be a truck or SUV. * One daily driver- Absolutely NO dedicated sports cars or sports coupes- so no Mustang, Camaro, Chally, etc. * One weekend/fun car- Anything sporty goes for this one, but must be street legal. * One track car- Anything intended mostly, or exclusively for track use here- Atoms, BAC Monos, etc. Does not have to be street legal. * One fam…

I was wondering what is a really good air freshioner you guys like to use. I always use the trees that dangle and I have tried that one that clips on your vent and it has that liquid that evaporates in the air. But what ones are the best... I hate walking to my car and having it reak like whatever it does sometimes reaks of marjuana when I hotbox it on the weekends but mainly I just want something strong those damn trees that hang from the mirror only last a couple days with the strong smell I like.

http://autos.yahoo.com/news/10-bad-luck-cars.html The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety offers consumers valuable data about current automobiles. By compiling and analyzing claims information, the data helps drivers choose the safest vehicle available when considering what car to purchase. The most recent issue of the IIHS Status Report, published Sept. 20, contains a table of personal injury protection (PIP) claims for cars manufactured between 2009 and 2011. It also ranks the 10 most dangerous cars on the road by that metric. The data shows that smaller cars were involved in accidents with the most frequency. This is partially a matter of physics, since a small …

Hey y'all. I just got out of the theater after seeing Ghost Rider. I have to say that the movie was definitely worth the money I laid down for it. Followed the comic series quite well and really was cast pretty well. I can't really go into the whole story of the Ghost Rider without giving away parts of the movie. All I have to say is that its worth it and really good. I enjoyed the world out of it (then again, that might have also been becuase it was just ME that went to the theater, no family attached). There were also the previews for Fantastic 4 II: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Spidey 3, both of which looked pretty good indeed. Anyway, has anyone else seen it…

http://blogs.motortrend.com/6226463/new-ca...uick/index.html 2009 Toyota Venza: It's a Buick! Posted January 14 2008 09:08 AM by Todd Lassa Filed under: New Cars, Motor City Blogman, Toyota, Crossovers, Detroit Auto Show DETROIT - Toyota describes its 2009 Venza as a vehicle for sedan owners who want to move up and SUV owners who want to downsize. It has the comfort of a Camry, the function of a 4Runner and the luxury of an Avalon. And, Toyota neglected to say, the look of a Buick. Why not? Until the American brand's emerging renaissance, pundits called the Avalon "the world's best Buick." For the Venza's premier, Toyota even copied the Buick Enclave's signature…

This is mainly about my car, but also how much my life sucks in general right now. For those who may not remember or care (then don't bother reading the rest of this post), Wednesday was the day I bought my very first car, my Dodge Intrepid (Friday I took delivery of it). To celebrate, I planned to give it a thorough cleaning inside and out, especially since we were going to take it to my cousin's for Thanksgiving. However, since it was cold, raw, and kind of rainy out, I just couldn't get up the energy to go do it. So instead I got up early Thursday morning, and after baking my famous (in the family circle) Pumpkin Pie, I took it to the car wash and cleaned it inside a…

Okay guys, I am trying something really strange. This idea came to me at my sons track meet this ayem, and I'm writing a fictional story based on all of us and GM cars. It is a strange story, based as a parody or satire. The only two of us I reveal by name or user name are myself (who I write about in third person) and Caddy Cruiser, because I needed a car salesman for my story and I felt like making him a character. Don't know how this is going to work out, but here goes...into the world of the odd...

For the weekend. I'll be camping 2 miles away at the Knox Dale Fireman's Homecoming all weekend. Activities include: ATVing, drinking, partying, camping, softball, volleyball, demolition derby, games, contests, eating, more partying and more drinking. After I drop my bro off for practice, I'm heading over to my grandparent's place to help bring the camper and supplies over, then setting up the camper and my tent over there, and finally walking the 2 miles back home to ride my 300EX over. This year seems like it will be boring... as there arent as many activities as there has been in the past. I'll make sure to take some pics... including drunk pics. …

I need a DVR...I am not home during the primetime TV hours and would love to still keep up with a few of the shows that are on. Getting a DVR from my cable provider isn't a possibility because that would mean I would have to move up to digital cable. Meaning that I would owe the the cable company about 40 bucks more a month after box rental and all the jazz. Not worth it just for the DVR because I would only watch maybe one or two of the extra channels. My only answers would maybe be moving to DirecTV with a DVR for like 25 bucks more a month (a lot more channels and a little better quality) or I could simply get a TiVo at $13 a month if I commited to a 3 year contra…

Today balthazar is happy because today my brother, a good buddy and myself reinstalled the body of my '59 back on it's beefy boxed frame!! So good to have my pride & joy back in only 1 garage bay! No problems to report, no mishaps, only 1 of the 16 bodyshell mounts requiring a bit of prying to align. All new rubber bushings & bolts/washers. Body has 2x3 steel tubing inside the rockers: much like another set of frame rails. This baby is going to be stiff! Even with no weight on it, she sure sits pretty on those 315/60-15 rears. Rear tires fill the wheelwells to perfection. Car height matches factory as it sits (57") but will drop 2 more inches I predict, once do…

I'm in the midst of reading Jim Hinckley's book, _Route 66 Backroads_, to prepare and plan this year's Route 66 Drive, September 5-16. I'm learning a lot about different areas in several states that probably should be explored ... when I have time. I'm also beginning to wish I could take more time for the Route 66 Drive...and, for that matter, road trips in general.... As I read the book further, I wonder what else is "out there" of interest to see in various areas. Our own "backyard" has plenty "treasures" to explore ... many more than we have time to see. This became apparent when I saw the PBS specials on Route 66 and the Lincoln Highway; researched other famous …

The Underworked American 08-14-2007 | Link to Original Article @ The Boston Globe IF YOU'RE WORKING next week -- a time designed by nature for fleeing office parks and sweltering, odoriferous cities -- you could be forgiven for feeling a touch of self-pity: poor, overworked American. Read about labor trends and you'd feel even more beleaguered. In May, a report titled "No-Vacation Nation," from a Washington, D.C., think tank, rubbed our noses in the fact that we get comically brief vacations compared with Europeans. Then there was the recent Harvard Business Review article decrying the rise of the "extreme job": More and more high achievers are forced to choose between…

My cat is fascinated with the bathtub. In the a.m., when I am in the bathroom doing other things, she jumps up on the edge of the tub and wants me to turn the water on at a drip. She then jumps in and walks UNDER the stream, like a little dummy. She always seems surprised when she gets wet that way. Then she asks me to shut the water off, so she can drink without getting splashed. Later, after my shower, she immediately jumps in the tub as I exit. She sits in the wet tub and loves it. Is my cat we todd it?

If you caught on right away... my dog Lucky died. He's been struggling for the past few days and he finally couldn't hold on any longer. You know... I'm mixed, as far as emotions. I'm devastated that he's gone, yet I'm angry. Mostly at my parents for only contributing to his death. They refused to take him to a vet saying that they couldn't afford it. I mean... what if it were me? Would they not be able to afford it then, either? Come on... He was my dog and I loved him. Wasn't that enough? They said this for a long, long time saying that there was nothing to be done and that he couldn't be saved. That was over 5 f@#king months ago. What's their excuse. I just wish I had …

And on a completely different subject, why cant I find a cruise that boards in New York or Miami, then goes around the friggen world? Circumnavigating the globe on a cruise ship would be sweet. A Malibu wagon please. 1. Don't try to go the Dodge route and load it up with testosterone, just a wagon of the existing car please. 2. Make the 4cylinder/6speed option available You already have a great interior, something the Magnum never had. You'd be the only one on the market except the Mazda 6 and that one is going away. You'd have a great stepping down point from the larger CUVs and SUVs for families that finally realize they don't need so much car. You could tout it being cooler than a mini-van, more efficient than an SUV/CUV and able to haul just about as much stuff.

So far, they have found a few... 95 civic 4dr, 105k, auto, almost 90% highway, about 1100 bucks... 96 Dodge Neon 4dr, 86k, 900 bucks..... 95 Plymouth Neon (we had one on these! ) 4dr, 92k, needs a starter, 700 bucks o/b/o.. Worth looking at any of these? I'm not exactly in any rush to rid myself of the ol' wagon (though it is going to need a bit of work soon) Though I'm afraid a door might rust off......

Today, I saw a bunch of last(2)gen Monte Carlos on a major boulevard in my area. They ranged anywhere from early 2000s up to the 2006/2007. Some of them, unfortunately, were kind of "blingy(sp)." I look at this car and study it. It has some good angles and some bad ones. The overall side profile is good. The frontal 3/4 view is good, too. The rear hump is not at all good and the too-low and too-heavy fender sculpting is not good, either. This is a car that could have been much better. I think that it was "sort of" intended to be a Cutlass Supreme price-point personal coupe, though it was not marketed that way. I think the GP 2-door that ran through 2002 was way …

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all of the fathers at C&G. And a special "shout-out" to the father of C&G, Walt Keegan. Without your "child", many of us would have to rely on that other site for all of our latest GM news. And we might as well recognize the "Big Daddy" of the place, FlyBrian, for always keeping us informed and behaved. to both of you! Here I am with my pride and joy... And in a few hours I'll begin the day's celebration with breakfast (not sure if the wife's cooking something special or if the kids are taking me out). Hope all the fathers here enjoy their day!!!

I have a membership to 24 Hour Fitness, which I bought in Northern California in 1996. They charge my bank account, you guessed it, $ 24 a month. They are all over the West and in other states as well, judging from the map. I also belong to Bally's which I bought when I moved to the Seattle area(there are about 10 in Oregon, too). It's such a cheap renewal now that I just pay it because I would spend more in join-up fees if I moved. For example, ATL and FL have Bally's, but not 24 Hour Fitness. OK, the "low cost" gyms have problems of their own...the clientele they attract. In June, before moving up North, I went to 24 Hour Fitness the evening that a friend was goi…

Heard this on the radio early this morning. I'll botch it, but you'll get the just of it... This morning, President Bush's advisor came in to tell him news of the deaths of 3 Brazilians. President Bush shakes his head, then puts his head in his hands for a minute. Lifting his head he says, "Wow. That's outrageous. A million, trillion, ... brazilian?! Just how many is that?!" Thought I'd share. It woke me up and I was lmao'ing into school lol

Alright, well so far we've looked at 3 cars, and will be looking at a 4th tomorrow. So here's some quick stories about the three. Also, besides the Intrepid, these are photos of the actual cars. #1: 2002 Dodge Neon I saw an add for a `02 Dodge Neon. There were two photos of it. The driver's side was banged up, but he said it ran good. Cosmetics didn't bother me because parts are easy to find (I saw 2 of them at the junkyard I went to last week). Yesterday we went to take a look at it, since it was nearby. The guy's English sucks but whatever, he seemed nice enough. I walked around the car, and saw it had seen better days. Driver's doors, fender, hood, and bumper…

Dictionaries have been removed from classrooms in southern California schools after a parent complained about a child reading the definition for "oral sex". Merriam Webster's 10th edition, which has been used for the past few years in fourth and fifth grade classrooms (for children aged nine to 10) in Menifee Union school district, has been pulled from shelves over fears that the "sexually graphic" entry is "just not age appropriate", according to the area's local paper. The dictionary's online definition of the term is "oral stimulation of the genitals". "It's hard to sit and read the dictionary, but we'll be looking to find other things of a graphic nature," district …

Automotive paint schemes you like.... Loved the old red white and blue of the old AMC stuff.... I am still a sucker for 1950's two tone....and Ford Crown Vics. They look great as mild customs too! Perhaps my all time favorite car/color combination is the iris color Pontiac offered on the 1965 GTO! In my opinion, 65 GTO rates just behind the 1958-1962 Corvettes as just about the ultimate GM car ever.

I'm looking at buying a new desktop very soon (planning on getting GTA IV when it comes out for PC) and have been looking at Gateway 9500's and 9100e's. The systems I have looked at are AMD quad cores with 3 gigs of memory, about 640 gigs hard drive space, but they have pretty weak video cards. They're refurbished and price about $400-600. I haven't yet looked at Dell or HP. What's some good bang for the buck for PC performance? I'd be willing to upgrade the video card and power supply if I go the refurbished route, but is there anything new that is worth looking at. I don't want to spend more than $800-900.

C&D just did an instrumented test on the new Volvo S90, and I thought this would be a good basis for a 'WWYBI' thread. Link- C&D 2017 Volvo S90 Test The car as tested ran 65K, but starts at 52K. So let's use a range of $52,000-67,000. Rules- 1) Car must be a sedan. 2) Must be a new, on-sale MY 2016 or 2017 model. 3) Must be AT LEAST $52,000 MSRP, but NO MORE THAN $67,000 MSRP.

My Saturn dealership has been contacting me a lot over the last two months, wanting me to "trade-out" of my AURA for a new Saturn of my choosing. While I like the VUE, the OUTLOOK would be the Saturn vehicle I'd go with. Please vote and let me know what I should do. Feel free to post your thoughts after voting too. (Note: this is in no way a sure-fire purchase for me, I'm just curious as to what people think about buying a new Saturn vehicle)

So, basically, I have to sell the Buick. And soon. I'm thinking perhaps a car lot would buy it. I have two local places in mind that specialize in older cars, one of which I'm going to call tomorrow. Every e-mail through Craigslist has been either from spammers or window shoppers (98 percent spam, 2 percent window shopping). Everyone who has called has never followed-through. I'm beginning to lose hope and I have to pay for my T/A before the seller changes his mind on holding it deposit free.

(Excuse me in advance if I'm coming across as some kind of car hippie. :P ) Anybody ever wonder what would happen if every car company in the world combined to make one single company? GM, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Ford, DCX, Hyundai, etc. co-existing and living in harmony. Would it end pissing matches among car enthusiasts? Would the auto industry become less of a raging battlefield? Would it improve international relations? (This may be a stretch.) Share your thoughts.

So, I just had a thought pop into my mind: Imagine the future of the V8 as this: 4.0L, twin-turbo, SIDI, 500+HP. How, you ask? Stick two 2.0L SIDI Ecotecs together and that's what you have. I don't know if that would work, but it seems plausible enough. It would deliver pretty good fuel mileage as well, I think. Image the other possibilities, too. The same HP/L (130 is what the 2.0 gets, but lets use 125) out of a 3.0L would yield 375 screaming ponies. A 3.5L would make 435HP... and so on... I think you can do the math easily enough. With forced induction being the wave of the future, IMO, I think we could see "big" V6s drop down to the 2.8-3.2L range from the curr…

... About a certain 1969 Firebird that's for sale about five miles away from me. The asking price is $6000 and the car really only needs new tires, some bodywork, and paint to be mostly restored. The interior is in very good shape, although it does need a new headliner (there isn't any sagging ... just a tear above the driver's head ... and if that wasn't there, I really wouldn't spend anything on the interior at all for many years to come), and I wouldn't rule out some engine detailing later down the road. But, overall, the car is in very solid shape with only minor surface rust in a few places and with solid floorboards and wheel wells. The color is a very faded brigh…

I normally post “Cheers and Jeers,” my end-of-year wrap-up post late on New Year’s Eve or early New Year’s Day. This year, I found myself in the hospital for most of the past week as my first child was born at the end of the year in circumstances that were later and more difficult than expected, and hence this post had to wait a week until mom and baby daughter were resting well at home, and they are doing fine now. So on with the festivities, and I hope everybody has been having a Happy New Year so far. Twenty ten was a year that continued to be filled with doom and gloom, with occasional peeks of sunshine to be smothered with dark gray clouds again as the jobless rec…

Found this on Craigslist: 1993 Buick Park Ave Ultra - $1900 - 57,000 miles I got the address and it's still available. It's only about 15 minutes from my house. I'm going to look at it this evening. The guy says it has a small exhaust leak and the transmission cooler line is leaking, but those are the only known issues. Opinions? Things to look for? I know it's not a truck, but it's cheap and with only 57k miles it'll probably have a lot of life left in it. I could still use the CRV if I need to haul something large, but all of my tools would still fit in the trunk.

So I ran across this baby in some old images I had at an autoshow with my dad, Gotta love old pictures. So I hunted these down online and decided we needed to start a thread of our First Love Affair with Auto's! Sound off on what was the first auto you saw that sent you on your way to just love Auto's. AMX3 for me! 1970 American Motors AMX/3 Prototype Tucked into the corner of the Chicago Auto Show, this may be the greatest American sports car that never was. Seeking to keep pace with Italian and Detroit automakers exploring mid-engine designs, American Motors commissioned its own take in 1970. Six copies of the AMX/3 were built in Italy, using a layout similar to a De…

Hi everyone! I thought I'd share the good news that I am now ServSafe Certified meaning that I have been properly trained in food handling, food safety, and essential hygenic and sanitary practices to help ensure that whatever you eat that I have been involved in preparing and monitering will not be laden with dangerous contaminates; whether they be of physical, biological, or chemical nature. On my exam, which requires a 75% to pass, I attained a 91%, that, although not perfect, was the best score that has been seen in some time according to our McDonald's Marketing Director Denise Mansfield! I had heard that the exam was "so hard" and that a student who had been f…

Ok, so I'm browsing Ebay for ideas on a classic car restoration... So far, I'm looking at '66-'70 Eldorado (top of list) Chevy Biscayne Olds 442 or holiday coupe Also, the Corvair caught my eye once I looked at pics of the engine...... how is it mounted? I cant seem to make sense of how the engine sits or how it is configured.... all I see is a pulley right in the middle with the shaft runing into the floor.... it seems like the engine is under the floor??? I also found one on Ebay that is Turbocharged????? did anyone know they made those? http://cgi.ebay.ca/Chevrolet-Corvair-Turbo...1QQcmdZViewItem

I got a stone chip on my windshield, and it's noticeable and expanding. I went to a windshield place last time, and the guy said he can do it, and claim insurance for me. I'm too scared to actually deal with the insurance, who might raise my premiums if I have any claims. The cost of fixing it was like 70 bucks. Anyone had claims like these and end up getting their premium raised?
