We’ve survived 2019 and are a year away from a new decade. Here are a few things that happened in the past year: Elon Musk was in the news a lot as he revealed the Mad Max-inspired Tesla Cybertruck to gasps, started to dig a tunnel beneath Las Vegas, opened a factory in China to build Model 3s, and was found not to have defamed a British cave explorer by calling him a "pedo guy" when he was insulted. To the dismay of short-sellers, Tesla’s stock price recently hit an all-time high. In the world of politics, the Mueller report was released with lots of anticipation but not much else. The sitting President became the fourth impeached, for abuse of power and obst…

Is it possible for the Northstar mean have a mean V8 growl like the GTO?

This was hands down the most amazing show I have ever been to. I've seen MetallicA 3 times now and this was by far their best appearance. I have NEVER before witnessed a band so tight as this one. Death Magnetic has really breathed new life into this establishment. Everything was amazing... From the intense laser show that kicks things off to the pyrotechnics, to the falling and rising GIANT coffins, to the beach balls at the end. James voice sounded phenomenal and he has once again mastered singing in a higher octave (like the old stuff) This show was double the pleasure for me because Lamb Of God (One of the openers) is my second favorite band behind MetallicA. Eve…

I hate this condition but I run into it a lot, juggling a full time job and taking 2 tough classes at night. Usually, one of the two parts of my life slides a little bit and then I play catch up. I can pull a "marathon" and get it done, usually with decent results. The problem is that I almost always get sick right after making a big deadline or the end of the semester as all of the pressure lifts all at once.

I have (my company has) this one client who is turning out to be a real ass hole. (I wrote about this once before). Unfortunately, I service his current project. I have never had a client I didn't like before (well, actually there was one). I figured it out. This guy, an exec "of sorts" at a construction company, thinks architects are necessary evils. (I'd like to see him get the degree and then the license). He is obviously some ex-jock who got into construction management - he may have a college education in construction, but, regardless, he is a little too classless. Since he probably lacks the technical skills, he has to use his over-the-top aggressiveness to g…

A Malibu wagon please. 1. Don't try to go the Dodge route and load it up with testosterone, just a wagon of the existing car please. 2. Make the 4cylinder/6speed option available You already have a great interior, something the Magnum never had. You'd be the only one on the market except the Mazda 6 and that one is going away. You'd have a great stepping down point from the larger CUVs and SUVs for families that finally realize they don't need so much car. You could tout it being cooler than a mini-van, more efficient than an SUV/CUV and able to haul just about as much stuff.

I went to a couple of dealerships last night to check out new cars for the heck of it. There were NO 2010 LaCrosses at the B(O)(P) dealership...and it was a fairly large store. There were NO 2010 Tauruses at the Ford dealership...and it was a very large store. There were NO base Camaros (within the visible part of the lot) at the Chevy dealership...and it was a very large store. What's up with this? Has anyone seen any 2010 LaCrosses or Tauruses on the lots? When are they due in?

My girlfriend, my sister and her boyfriend, and I went to Hawaii for the weekend--flew out of Phoenix Friday morning to Honolulu, came back late last night then my g/f and flew back to Denver this morning..I'm a zombie (less than 3 hrs sleep last night). We went for the Pearl Jam/U2 concert in Aloha stadium--the last show on U2's Vertigo tour...incredible show. My dad has a line on a black 98 Deville Concours with 47k miles on it. Estate type sale. Seller is listing at 8500 but the person in charge of the sale will go lower. My dad wants to try to get it for 5500. I told him he'll prob need to go up as high as 6500. What do you all think is fair for a 10 year old Concours w/ northstar, floor shift, moonroof? Myself I do not like the interior color or i might have interest. If my dad buys it I might make him a serious offer on his 92 Seville with 80k on it. What is the history on that vintage of Northstar and tranny?

So this past Saturday was $50 Day at Holland's Used Auto, and my best hope of getting a good deal on replacement parts for our beaten up cars. Jessica and I got up bright and early at 5:30am, emptied out the T&C and put the things we thought we'd need in it and headed to Silvester's. We met at about 6:30 and followed Sixty in his RoadMonster to take care of some stuff, get breakfast and head to the junkyard. Our game plan was to hit the Prizms first, since they were near the entrance, then scope out the Cadillacs and proceed to the Intrepids. Even though it was only 8am there was already a good amount of people in the yard and they had a guy directing us to the park…

We're cruising along the New Jersey Turnpike, chatting away, talking about my sons music and his son's band, vintage cars and the like when we start talking to each other in French for some odd reason. Balthazar pulls off…

Jordan Haskins is not going quietly into the night. After some soul-searching, the Saginaw native busted multiple times for breaking into government vehicles and masturbating inside them is re-entering the race to fill a state House seat. Haskins, a 24-year-old Republican, entered the race to become a Michigan state representative to fill a state seat, but his arrest record for numerous "cranking" incidents came to the surface immediately after he put his name in the hat. Let's revisit what cranking is: "Jordan would remove the spark plug wires and sit in the car and masturbate while the motor was sparking and making noises," the police report states. …

Sunday, January 24th, 2010. I spent the entire day planted in front of this computer, watching YouTube clips featuring the story of 2 characters from the British TV show "Shameless". 111 clips in all I watched, starting Saturday night, ranging in size from 1:30 to about 9 minutes long. I'm addicted. It's the craziest show ever and I love it. The new season starts tomorrow, so I hope the next installment makes it to the Tube asap! Oh and then there's "Emmerdale", another British serial, and who can forget "Eastenders". I'm rather into both of those shows as well. Of course my first British TV love is "Keeping Up Appearances", I watch that every Saturday night on Pu…

This last weekend I went shoping with daughter #4 for her first new car. Like most people in her postion (and mine) money is important. My plan was to get a Chevy Cobalt LS with automatic transmission utilizing the almost $3000 GM card rebate. The test drive was ok, perhaps a lttile underwhelming to me. My daughter didn't like it all saying that it seemed like a rental car. I have no idea where she learned that expression. Things got worse as the nice, industrious young man who was helping us (3.5 weeks on the job) introduced us to his sales manager. Oh my God! What an obnoxious slimey, iley character he was. I'm looking at buying a new desktop very soon (planning on getting GTA IV when it comes out for PC) and have been looking at Gateway 9500's and 9100e's. The systems I have looked at are AMD quad cores with 3 gigs of memory, about 640 gigs hard drive space, but they have pretty weak video cards. They're refurbished and price about $400-600. I haven't yet looked at Dell or HP. What's some good bang for the buck for PC performance? I'd be willing to upgrade the video card and power supply if I go the refurbished route, but is there anything new that is worth looking at. I don't want to spend more than $800-900.

I’ve finally made some headway in my car-hunting process. After a lengthy discussion between myself and my dad (which entailed me promising to seek employment), he told me I could go ahead and send an email to the seller of a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue GLS. The link to the listing is here. My question is, are there any major defects in the 1998 model year Intrigue? I know it’s got the 3.8L V6/4T60E (or some variant of that transmission) combo, which I’ve heard only good things about their longevity. Dad seems to think that because it has over 100K miles on it, that it’ll be needing a new transmission and/or a head gasket job soon if it already hasn’t, which I think sounds a…

Well, I guess they have trained killer whales perform all over the world, but handling them or training them is something that gets a "no thanks." I will say the same about sky-diving..."no thanks." What happened today at Sea World was very sad. Even sadder was the fact that spectators had to watch it. This whale was a problem, having done this sort of thing many years ago...they should have put him on a ship and sent him back to the waters of Puget Sound or the Inside Package. Story here Did this stun you as well? Do you think they should stop having these exhibits? Not having a killer whale show wouldn't be a deal breaker. Most famous world aquariums don't hav…

I just a saw an horrible video... I'm shocked. How can humans be so cruel? Why do we do that kind of stuff? Does fashion and all those shallow activities justify the suffering of innocent beings? I'm just shocked, dissapointed and disgusted by humanity...

Sometimes the world works in mysterious ways. Things happen, and for the life of us, we can't figure out why. Why them? Why now? It just seems so unfair. On Saturday, one of the best persons I had the pleasure of knowing had a massive stroke, and a day later, she was gone. This woman was more than just a good friend, she was one of the best teachers I ever had in high school, really shaped me into the person I am today. She wouldn't let you get away with anything in class without first publicly poking fun at you and then explain what you needed to know. I remember in class one time, a reference to the Diet of Worms was made, and being an idiot, said, "Wow, that…

Another sleepless night and I'm paging through a car brochure, this time the full-line prestige 1974 Buick brochure. In the case of the LeSabre and Century models, a 455 CID V8 option was available, interestingly enough with a 2V carburetor (the 4V version was also available, of course). And dual exhausts were available on this 2V option (single exhaust was apparently standard). AFAIK, this was the only year that the Buick 455 came with a 2V carb. Another interesting twist is that the ratings for the 2V version show higher peak torque (at a lower RPM) than any of the 4V versions. Fascinating. I'll try to scan the good stuff and post it here (if anyone's interested, tha…

Many people know that the best way to keep the underside of you car from rusting is to keep wash the salt from it every once in a while. You don't just want to let it be wet when you're done though, you want to air it out so it can dry.

You guys all know by now that I have no sound on this machine, so I need a favor. This is a live version of a song I love, and I'm wondering if the sound is any good. I posted it elsewhwere and I'd hate to be doing the band a disservice.

I've had iTunes since version 4 and remember the days when it opened quickly and everything was a breeze. Then Apple kept releasing new versions and forcing you to upgrade in order to buy from the iTunes store, which became a pain in the ass because each time they limited the number of computers and CDs you could share/burn your purchased music on. I bought the song, so I should be able to use it on as many computers as I want. I've changed computers three times since version 4.0, so each time I have to screw around with approving a new computer to play my purchased music. Now ever since 7.0 it's become a big piece of bloatware that takes about 3 minutes to open,…

Okay, I know a bunch of you eBay like myself. I usually scope out car parts and airplane memorabilia. You may go for sporting equipment, autographed photos, fabrege eggs, Selma Hayck's panties, whatever. But the point of this is to find an eBay Motors Gem. In other words, a complete car for sale on eBay that is in such a condition that you would only find it on eBay. That, or the listing is simply hillarious. Here's my first entry and an example: 1979 Lincoln Versailles Premier *Seamlessly-extended front end to accomodate 'spare' wheels. *"Vynal" roof with aged rust lines. By It Now Price: $6500

So Marcia has turned up the "douchebag factor" to the MAX. She is using our daughter Sofia like a pawn in some twisted, deranged game... I was a fool to think that she was going to think that she was going to stay civil. Things have turned ugly beyond my wildest imagination. This whole divorce thing has made me realize that she is just plain cruel & selfish. On a positive note, today was a good day overal. As of 10am today I am officially back in the car business for the first time since 2003. One of my many compromises that I made for Marcia was to not work at a car dealership durring the past four years. Another stupid useless sacrafice that …

For Release: DECEMBER 9, 2005 Detroit - General Motors has announced today, December 9, that it will acquire Northwest Airlines. GM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rick Wagoner confirmed the purchase plans. Wagoner states: "We are very excited with the prospect of this new alliance." When pressed, Wagoner indicated that it was actually a contractual relationship between Northwest and one of its suppliers that was of particular interest to the Corporation. Although he declined to name the supplier, another GM Executive did. Mark LaNeve, group vice president of GM North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing indicated that contract with Kimberly-C…

ATLANTA - Investigators are looking into who altered pro wrestler Chris Benoit’s Wikipedia entry to mention his wife’s death hours before authorities discovered the bodies of the couple and their 7-year-old son. Benoit’s Wikipedia entry was altered early Monday to say that the wrestler had missed a match two days earlier because of his wife’s death. A Wikipedia official, Cary Bass, said Thursday that the entry was made by someone using an Internet protocol address registered in Stamford, Conn., where World Wrestling Entertainment is based. Probably because I'm spelling it wrong. Does anyone know what this is, or how to spell it? Much appreciated! (drop me an IM if you have any specific info on it) k thx
