think i might go by a local place and look at one. just curious what you know about any problem areas i should look for or even if it's worth it? the place has no more than a basic website, so right now i don't know mileage and what they're asking. prolly call first over lunch. i did KBB it in good condition and 100k miles and fair price could be $~5.5k. thanks in advance for feedback. it's black exterior.

My parents are car shopping. They're looking at a lot of options, but I convinced them to look at an HHR, as they commute ~30miles each way daily, rarely have other people with them. So, fuel efficiency is a big plus, but they don't want to have to climb down into a small car, and my dad really likes a higher driving position like in a truck. Of course the HHR isn't that high, but it's better. They drove one and liked it pretty well. I'm under the impression that the HHR has been pretty well refined and a later model (they're looking at a 2010) should be really solid. Anyone aware of any key features to get or avoid?

So I was in the store today and came across a 4-pack of something called Virgil's Micro Brewed Root Beer. Looked at the ingredients label and say: Purified Carbonated Water, unbleached cane sugar, caramelized unrefined cane sugar, herbs, spices, and citric acid. Contains no preservatives and no caffeine. Gluten free. Saw on the other side of the label, "Virgil's is a superb blend of Spices and Herbs gathered from around the world over; Anise, Licorice, Vanilla (Bourbon), Cinnamon, Clove, Wintergreen, Sweet Birch, Molasses, Nutmeg, Pimento Berry Oil, Balsam Oil and Oil of Cassia. The systems I have looked at are AMD quad cores with 3 gigs of memory, about 640 gigs hard drive space, but they have pretty weak video cards. They're refurbished and price about $400-600. I haven't yet looked at Dell or HP. What's some good bang for the buck for PC performance? I'd be willing to upgrade the video card and power supply if I go the refurbished route, but is there anything new that is worth looking at. I don't want to spend more than $800-900.

ATLANTA - Investigators are looking into who altered pro wrestler Chris Benoit’s Wikipedia entry to mention his wife’s death hours before authorities discovered the bodies of the couple and their 7-year-old son. Benoit’s Wikipedia entry was altered early Monday to say that the wrestler had missed a match two days earlier because of his wife’s death. A Wikipedia official, Cary Bass, said Thursday that the entry was made by someone using an Internet protocol address registered in Stamford, Conn., where World Wrestling Entertainment is based. So, I just finished hell week at school, (In case you're wondering, It is possible to get 7 hours of sleep over a 72 hour period and survive) and I am just a little bit bored today... I was looking at the GM logo, where I realized that it looks absolutely ancient. Research has showed me that the last time it was updated was in 1999 (I think) where they converted the original 1967 logo, glossed it over a bit, and slapped it on the letterhead. I think that with the volt coming out in 2010, and the vastly different corporate image GM is after, a new logo is necessary. I made these 2 earlier today. What do you think? Make some of your own too!

I know it’s got the 3.8L V6/4T60E (or some variant of that transmission) combo, which I’ve heard only good things about their longevity. Dad seems to think that because it has over 100K miles on it, that it’ll be needing a new transmission and/or a head gasket job soon if it already hasn’t, which I think sounds a…

All right boys and girls. I've got a BIG question to ask. I'm looking for a long-term project car. My requirements are that be General Motors, 1955-1975. I'd prefer a muscle or pony car, but that is not a requirement. My biggest requirement is that it be a rolling chassis. It doesn't have to have an engine, it doesn't really have to have an interior. Keep in mind this will be a long-term (ie 5-ish years) project vehicle. I also know that I don't want to spend a lot of money on the initial purchase, I'm thinking about $2,000 for the initial rolling chassis. The rest I can come up with as time passes on. Any suggestions?

In the case of the LeSabre and Century models, a 455 CID V8 option was available, interestingly enough with a 2V carburetor (the 4V version was also available, of course). And dual exhausts were available on this 2V option (single exhaust was apparently standard). AFAIK, this was the only year that the Buick 455 came with a 2V carb. Another interesting twist is that the ratings for the 2V version show higher peak torque (at a lower RPM) than any of the 4V versions. Fascinating. I'll try to scan the good stuff and post it here (if anyone's interested, tha…

  38. NEW YORK - Jim Ammons grumbles to himself every time he fills up his Ford Expedition, but he says gas prices would have to almost quadruple to $10 a gallon before he’d ditch his SUV. Still, paying $55 to fill his 20 gallon tank isn’t easy for the information specialist. “This right here is catastrophic for a lot of families,” Ammons, 54, said this week at a Houston Chevron station that was charging $2.65 a gallon for regular unleaded. “A lot of them have to choose: Do I buy food, do I send my kids to school or do I fill up my tank?” That choice may soon get a lot more difficult. The steep rise in oil prices to $90 a barrel over the past month means American consumers a…

2016 was a year that almost everyone wants to forget. The election season that seemed to go on forever ended with the surprising election of a thin-skinned accused sexual predator demagogue and reality TV host to be 45th President of the United States. This extremely unpopular candidate had nearly 3 million fewer votes than the almost equally unpopular runner up. The Zika virus hysteria hit a fevered pitch. The Pokemon Go fad came and went. Transgender people using bathrooms consistent with their identities seemingly became the most important topic for legislatures across the country. The Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando was the deadliest mass-shooting by …

  68. I hate this condition but I run into it a lot, juggling a full time job and taking 2 tough classes at night. Usually, one of the two parts of my life slides a little bit and then I play catch up. I can pull a "marathon" and get it done, usually with decent results. The problem is that I almost always get sick right after making a big deadline or the end of the semester as all of the pressure lifts all at once.

I watched the BCS national championship game last night and florida impressed me more than any other football team has. That is one of the most decisive bowl wins i have seen in a while (other than LSU over Notre Dame). It reaffirms mt belief that the SEC is the best conference in college football.

Just like XP715 & many other friends, I'm def. moving out of mASS in the near future, but my need to stay "locally" due to family & jobs means N.H. is my best choice, if only temporarily. Here's just a part of the reson WHY: ------- http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/legislatio...09/HCR0006.html A RESOLUTION affirming States’ rights based on Jeffersonian principles. Whereas the Constitution of the State of New Hampshire, Part 1, Article 7 declares that the people of this State have the sole and exclusive right of governing themselves as a free, sovereign, and independent State; and do, and forever hereafter shall, exercise and enjoy every power…

And I'd be trying to figure out how to come-up with the money. I'd also be willing to bet that Saturn would have been gaining some sales back by now. The Solstice coupe would have been a pretty hot property too, I'd think. What else have we lost? What could/would have been?

Is it possible for the Northstar mean have a mean V8 growl like the GTO?

My girlfriend, my sister and her boyfriend, and I went to Hawaii for the weekend--flew out of Phoenix Friday morning to Honolulu, came back late last night then my g/f and flew back to Denver this morning..I'm a zombie (less than 3 hrs sleep last night). We went for the Pearl Jam/U2 concert in Aloha stadium--the last show on U2's Vertigo tour...incredible show. Pearl Jam was my favorite 'grunge' band in college and U2 is probably my all-time favorite band (behind Pink Floyd), so it was a very special night. We had an '06 Mustang convertible rental..a bit tight for 4 people, but a lot of fun for driving around the island. There were loads of Dodge Calibers and Sa…

Need some tow hitch advice: I want to put a motorcycle carrier on the back of an Avalanche. The carrier is rated for a 600 lb bike and weighs 97 pounds itself. One of these: http://amzn.to/2x1Hkc0 The bike I want to put on there is 485 fully fueled for a total weight of 582 after adding the carrier. I know much is made about tongue weight when towing, but I'm not really towing in this case, it's really just a platform with a bike riding on it. Can I put this setup on an Avalanche with a 500 lbs max tongue weight? The max tongue weight with a weight distributing hitch (which is not possible in this scenario) is at least 800lbs depending on setup, so the meta…

And as a side note, I am very happy to get a replacement H for my hood! A nice guy with a del Sol had an extra one because he shaved all of his off. People with del Sols are automatically friends with other people that have del Sols. It's like some kind of secret club. Other del Sol drivers honk at me when they see my car and are always more than willing to help with anything or talk about cars. It's really neat, and that doesn't happen with a lot of things, so I feel lucky I reeeee…

My dad has a line on a black 98 Deville Concours with 47k miles on it. Estate type sale. Seller is listing at 8500 but the person in charge of the sale will go lower. My dad wants to try to get it for 5500. I told him he'll prob need to go up as high as 6500. What do you all think is fair for a 10 year old Concours w/ northstar, floor shift, moonroof? Myself I do not like the interior color or i might have interest. If my dad buys it I might make him a serious offer on his 92 Seville with 80k on it. What is the history on that vintage of Northstar and tranny?

This spring, America hit a historic point. With average gas prices per gallon edging toward $4, America's notoriously profligate ways started to change fast. Americans are driving less, using mass transit more, buying fewer gas guzzlers, indeed shopping less wantonly in general, and lowering their previously unshakable confidence as consumers. Suddenly, Americans are acting differently; if not exactly like Swedes, then not quite like themselves, either. It's a shift that could change the world. And there are more changes to come. So far the price shock has triggered the most obvious consumer shifts in the United States. Europeans, already greener, are also are buffered …

Visit Tonka Truck Tour to learn more about this truck, watch a video of how this real, driveable truck was brought to life, and see if it's coming to a Wal-Mart location near you (I may be "sick" one day this week to drive to a location near me!!).

I am in one of those deals right now. Bad service couldn't be taken care of locally, so rather than 'eff with it with a regional manager, I am taking it up with a name I found on the corporate web site for the NY-based headquarters. My friends love my "poison pen" letters, as they call them. They are very diplomatic and professionally written, but they have an "edge." Therefore, they come to me when they want help writing one. I have written about 7 or 8 of them in my life, and in about 3/4 of the cases, the "big bosses" rectify the situation in my favor. I'm not a TOTAL jerk.
