Many people know that the best way to keep the underside of you car from rusting is to keep wash the salt from it every once in a while. You don't just want to let it be wet when you're done though, you want to air it out so it can dry.

Any tips to ease it out? It gets pretty bad for me. The thing is, that's the only sickness I really get. I've been on a boat in a storm and I didn't get sick. when I get on an airplane, and when they bring the food, I throw right up, instantly. Very short trips like non-intercontinental is fine for me, just long international trips. But now I'm worried because I'm leaving for Hong Kong in August...

Al Gore Wins 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Linkity By GERALD F. SEIB and JEFFREY BALL October 12, 2007 2:31 p.m. WASHINGTON -- Former Vice President Al Gore won a share of the Nobel Peace Prize for his work publicizing global warming, an honor that is sure to raise speculation anew about his presidential ambitions and makes it more difficult for other politicians to avoid the global-warming issue. The former vice president shares the prize with the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the Nobel Prize committee announced in Norway. The prize caps a remarkable stretch for Mr. Gore's effort to raise the profile of the climate-change debate; …

SAMSON, Ala. – Nine people were gunned down in a terrifying rampage across two Alabama counties by a lone shooter who authorities said burned down his mother's home with her inside, killed his own relatives on their porch and shot apparent strangers and police before killing himself. Tuesday's shootings in a mostly rural area near the Florida border were believed to be the work of Michael McLendon, who lived with his mother and had once worked at a local metal plant. The bloodshed began when McLendon burned down his mother's house in Kinston, according to Coffee County Coroner Robert Preachers. Authorities found Lisa McLendon's body inside, but they had not determined…

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Trying to head off a potentially embarrassing state ethics report on GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, campaign officials released their own report Thursday that clears her of any wrongdoing. Sen. John McCain's running mate is the subject of a legislative investigation into whether she abused her power as governor by firing her public safety commissioner. The commissioner, Walter Monegan, says he was dismissed in July for resisting pressure from Palin's husband, Todd Palin, and numerous top aides to fire state trooper Mike Wooten, Palin's former brother-in-law. The move came hours after the state Supreme Court refused to halt the ethics in…

Hello, I noticed that there are a few Albertans on this board... My girlfriend and I are strongly considering on moving from this craphole we call Toronto to either Calgary or Edmonton... This, for the reason of the booming economy, plentiful jobs, and a more comfotable, slower-paced lifestyle... If there is anyone who lives in Alberta, break the ice and reveal if the rumours are true, that life is so great, that kids at Tim Horton's make 14/hr in Calgary and Edmonton, and if it is better for a young couple to head out there, and to where? Calgary or Edmonton? Thanks...

Another favorite of mine is the Albizia Julibrissin (Japanese Mimosa or Silk Tree). It is the main attraction of my front lawn in summer. The Albizia Julibrissin with its delicately scented flowers is an attractive exotic plant for the garden. Long stamen make the flowers look like a pink powder puff. Also, the pinnately (feather-like) divided leaves add to the elegant appearance of the tree. At night or in case of drought the leaves fold together (hence its common name ‘sleeping tree’ in some languages), by day they unfold again and offer a shady place to relax.

Alcantara for More People Chrysler, Cadillac and Mercury will start offering suede-like Alcantara leather in certain sports edition models next year. Alcantara is best known for its use in performance cars like the BMW M3 because it holds drivers in their seats better than standard leather. It’s easy for us to guess that Chrysler’s SRT models and Cadillac’s V series will see Alcantara, but we’re mystified at which Mercury interior will get such treatment. Perhaps it will be one of its SUVs, like the Mountaineer. That seems like a bit of a waste to us. Read "Big Three Going With Luxury Alcantara Fabric in 2007" @ Kicking Tires

recently there was a show on the national geographic or animal planet cant remember which, about massive animal extinction. it was about how a "super volcano" on pangea in the area of siberia errupted for like 250-500,000 years or something. anyway. it was talking about how at first it was no big deal, then life got worse for the animals on land. the water dwelling creatures didnt have any problems until the "global warming" from the volcanic gasses and trapping of the suns rays started kicking in. the water temps started rising and water has a lower oxygen content the warmer it gets. the water creatures began to die and so anaerobic bacteria started taking over in the wa…

So you may or may not have heard that my brother was in a car accident and the Maxx was totaled. Anyways, because of complications over who is getting this new car and when (my sister's Alero is on its last legs), we haven't been able to narrow it down much until recently when my sister decided she should probably try to wait until spring to get a car (save money for down payment). Anyways, there's a dealer that we can get a new Cobalt 1LT at for $11K after discounts and $3500 GM card credits, so this is quickly becoming an option. What is this? So... I'm trying to end the seemingly never ending saga of what is causing my Milly's engine to miss. We've been unable to really find anything wrong with it that would cause that. Yesterday, it suddenly got worse, where it actually stalled on me twice, while moving at that. It's never done that before. It still seems like its something with intake or one of the sensors. I noticed that upon shutting the engine off, it sounded like there was a vacuum effect. I had my dad listen for it to try to find where it came from. Seems that it's the air box. My dad messed around with it... Well, anyways, to finish, my dad thinks the problem could be that thing, w…

It seems like many folks are either in a state of disbelief or a state of indifference with regard to the breaches, namely the Equifax breach, among others. So, 143 million were impacted and our population is now probably around 325 million. When you remove the under 21 crowd, the elderly on limited incomes who aren't doing much with credit, and folks who don't have much input into their credit reports because they don't use it, that's almost all Americans between 30 and 70. Their investigating the situation was big news at the very beginning but I haven't heard much about it. I don't believe that the company's stock took much of a hit. Then, on the heels of that…

I nearly demolished a Saab 9-3 convertible last night..... but if I had, he would have deserved it. We're on a two lane, one way road coming up to a light. At the light your options are proceed straight or make a right if you're in the right hand lane... and only straight if you're in the left hand lane. Note that no matter which lane you're in, you can go straight. I'm in the right hand lane following this Saab, no one is in front of him, when about 50 yards before the light he decides that he needs to be in the left hand lane RIGHT f@#kING NOW. Of course there is traffic in the left hand lane already so he just slams on his brakes and puts his signal on.... apparen…

I am really getting sick of this whole trend. Cadillac has embraced this a little too strongly. We all know what an Escalade is - it quickly brings up imagery. However, STS, CTS, XLR, DTS, did I forget any....nuts. I mean, we all know what they are, but then we're really tuned into this whereas average consumers aren't to the same extent. Pontiac is doing this G# thing. I sure hope the new Bonneville isn't a G8. Can't they think of something else? How about this -- the Pontiac Angola? J/K. I voted "Yes...I am sick of it." After my two recent experiences with car buying, I got to thinking: both myself and my wife could have ended up with very different cars because it was a tough back-and-forth decision. Maybe it could be fun talking about what we're driving in an alternate universe where the final choice went the other way! What's your realistic alternate universe garage? You can go by real life buying experience or just conjecture based on your budget. What are the pros and cons of this alternate universe? Is the grass greener on the other side? I want to know how not to be a dick when dealing with people selling used motorcycles. This is all private sales; no dealerships. The problem is that their price is often too high when Kelley Blue Book and mileage values are factored in. I'm reasonable but when you have bikes that are nearly ten years old, being priced as if they're three years old, that's either being obnoxious or showing no research whatsoever. So when I send an offer, I provide a link to the KBB website, as well as links to other classified ads in nearby cities of the same bike or one that's similar. Also, I've included links to sales threads on forums devoted to the particular bike brand or model. …

I've been requested to contact the grandson of Harley Earl, by said person, in regards to some unspecified internet rambling I did on concept cars. Not sure what caught his eye... This brings me right back to the time the owner of Pontiac Historical Services called my house, demanding to know why I was "badmouthing" him on the internet. (He still hasn't fixed the 'problem' ! )

who thinks that the "Maniac" Kia commercial is the lamest, most annoying ad in all human history. I almost never watch TV but the TV is always on at the restaurant, set to ESPN or some other sport program, that ad is on all the freekin' time and it makes my brain bleed. Seriously, dry-humping a Kia Optima? to the THIRD power!

I have traveled to many many cities in America and I am just curious to see what everybody thinks is the greatest city in America. Here are the rules: 1) You must pick a city outside of the state you live in if you have traveled out of the state you live in. 2) If you wish, you may also pick a city inside of the state you live in if you really think it is worthy as well. 3) Optional - Pit the two choices against each other for fun. So here are my picks: 1) Phoenix -- It's dry, hot, new, fresh, and has hot women. 2) Los Angeles -- Because even if there are many cities around it, LA is all encompassing. Entertainment, Beaches, Theme Parks, and lots of differen…

Detroit and Cleveland are not surprises. Portland is a real dichotomy of pluses and minuses, so kind of a surprise. Nashville, Jacksonville and Atlanta are surprises. Check out the list: Link to MSN list of Saddest Cities

WOW, This is a freakin amazing Barn Find, Watch the Video and sound off. It is amazing how much of these old auto's and motorcycles actually run still. http://www.cooleston...mate-Barn-Find/ Sound off on this awesome find! There are some awesome cars. They spend time on the motorcycles, but some of the old cars are freakin amazing especially the 1949 Veritas by a group of engineers that went to work for BMW.

David Hasslehof was in the American Idol audience. Macia called me over so I'd watch the last 0.25 min of the finale of the show and I see Hasslehof in the audience. Shouldn't he be at home getting ready to make Knight Rider the big screen motion picture.

Just a look back at distinctly American luxury in 1960. People the world over aspired to these cars. Some of their options are just now becoming mainstream. Here's the Cadillac, Imperial and Lincoln.

American luxury cars in 1961. Cadillac and Imperial still had the futuristic, jet finned look while Lincoln went completely minimalistic. That Lincoln design signalled the end of unique, dynamic, futuristic, in your face, American automotive design.

Happy birthday, Mr. American Revolution 2005, since you pointed that out on my birthday thread. I don't know what that fetches in Canada, but I think it allows you to drive in most of the states down here in "the colonies." At any rate, have a great one! I'd put one of those bitchen' houses in your neighborhood in your combined birthday/Christmas stocking, but I don't think it would fit!

Britney Spears, Tom Cruise, Lindsay Lohan, Kanye West, Terrell Owens, Paris Hilton, David Beckham. Who are these people and what are they to you? Well, that’s easy, they are celebrities. They are rich and famous; they are amazing people – right or wrong? Obviously that statement is right. Photographers make millions of dollars to follow them around and find out what’s going on in their lives, and it’s so easy for them to do it. These celebrities put their entire lives out on the street to sell themselves; they’re basically whores, all of them. But that’s fine because these paparazzi are making their cash and we’re just soaking it up. “What happened to Paris?! No way…

About an hour ago, an F3 tornado touched down in the NW part of Ames. I haven't heard anything on the damage up there, but I got a pic of the tornado as it was going back up into the sky. I'm ok and the Iowa State campus was unaffected. They had to evacuate Jack Trice Stadium because people were there for the ISU - Colorado game. We never get tornadoes in November!
