GM Superbowl Ads Well, for those of us not emotionally or fiscally invested in the big game, some of the more anticipated moments come during the commercial breaks. Advertisers spend beaucoup money on these ads, so you know they're going to bring their 'A' game...or at least should. General Motors is no exception. Some of these you may have seen before, some you haven't. In either case, sit back, click, watch, and enjoy the show. 2. Dan Strumpf / Associated Press You fell in love with that $22,000 Chevy Malibu because of its color, style and price. After driving it home, you realize it's not what you wanted. Maybe it's the way it handles on the highway, the location of the cup holders or the shape of the seats. Don't worry. Bring it back for a refund, no questions asked, says GM's Chairman and new TV pitchman Edward Whitacre Jr. But is it really as easy as returning an ill-fitting shirt to Macy's? As with any deal, it's a good idea to read the fine print. As your love affair with the new car turns to hate, you'll need to drive very carefully and make sure to limit how many miles you put on …

  59. Tiger to Become Spokesman for Other GM Brands? Tiger Woods might one day stump for General Motors brands other than Buick. The broader role could be part of an aggressive marketing effort to revive the Buick, Pontiac and GMC brands in 2007. A new GMC crossover vehicle, the Acadia, is arriving in dealerships. Buick dealers will get a similar vehicle, the Enclave, next year. Pontiac, meanwhile, might receive a new entry-level car similar to the G5, John Larson, GM's general manager of Pontiac-Buick-GMC, said during a recent event here. The brands' sales are down so far this year (see box), although GM's drive to trim fleet sales accounts for some of the decline. The n…

There's more of this coming as GM continues to decline: ANDERSON, Ind., Feb. 16 — General Motors once had so many plants here that it had to stagger their schedules so that the streets would not be clogged with traffic when the workday ended. At the city's peak, 35 years ago, one of every three people in Anderson worked for G.M. Now there is not a single G.M. plant left, and just two parts plants that G.M. once owned still survive. Anderson, about 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis, had 70,000 people in 1970 and now has fewer than 58,000. But in many ways, Anderson is still just as dependent on G.M. as it once was. Only now, rather than being dependent on General Mot…

I should also add that, unlike many at GM, I have long been a fan of your work, the work of a man I had considered to be about truth, and truth-telling, even when it hurts, and hurts so bad it's funny in a pathetic sort of way. On "Larry King Live" last week, you didn't tell the truth, and it left me flabbergasted. In your defense, I think you did it out of ignorance, not malice. But it was an untruth nonetheless, and one that will have very damaging ramifications for Detroit and …

The reason for these dramatic actions is no secret: GM has lost a lot of money in 2005, due to rapidly increasing health-care and raw-material costs, lower sales…
