I was at the Canadian International Autoshow on opening day, February 13, 2009. There are 2 Camaro's at the show. One is an IOM with white stripes Camaro SS (same as in Montreal). The other is a black 1LT (V6 manual!). Whenever the Corvette plant closes it doors for public tours for a certain amount of time, it usually means some big change is coming to the model. The Bowling Green Daily News reports that starting next month, GM will suspend plant tours for 18 months. National Corvette Museum Marketing and Communications Manager, Katie Frassinelli tells the paper the suspension is for a reconfiguration of the assembly line and a new paint shop. “The new paint shop at the plant has to be tied into the existing assembly line. GM's estimate for the 1500 equipped with the new Vortec 6.0 liter and four speed transmission is 15/19. There are no estimates listed for the 2500HD with the six speed transmission. GM boast that the six speed will increase gas mileage, but the only way to purchase a six speed at this time is to buy the 2500HD. The extended cab 2500HD weighs approximately 900 lbs more than the 1500 extended cab. Was wondering what kind of mileage to expect from the HD. Anyone driving a HD2500 yet?

Don't know if any of you have picked up the latest issue of Motor Trend with the SUV of the year honors in it, but its kinda funny. They do give props to the Suburban, Tahoe, Escalade, and pretty much rave about the Denali. One line struck me as funny though. Well today i was pleasently supprised when our GM trainer came in and discussed future products for us... First he cleanly said "you didnt hear it from me" but... The camaro will be avalible in 2008 as a 2009 year model. He also mentioned that there would be 3 engine choices those being 1 v6 and 2 v8's and the idea of borrowing the 7L, although it wouldnt be rated to have as much power as the vette, the idea was there to borrow the motor. He also went on to mention stuff about the impala next year getting AFM (this we already knew) he also mentioned that it was sent to austrailia (like we already knew) so that it would stay out of the limelight...

Latest Motor Trend has article comparing the HHR, Mazda 3s, Dodge Caliber and Toyota Matrix. They placed the Mazda first, now I will say that all in all the Mazda is a pretty nice overall vehicle. however I was very disappointed to see the place the Matrix 2nd and the HHR 3rd. After all, isn't the Vibe GM's worst vehicle as far as quality goes? I was thinking the other day about the Volt, in the light of it being used the same way as a Nissan Leaf... i.e., as a electric only car. I know that engines and gasoline don't like sitting still for long periods... Chevrolet Bolt Gen 2 in 2025? At the 1 min 25 sec mark, the Bolt discussion begins and they talk about the production of the autonomous BOLT. Plenty of other EV info on BMW, MB and Kia plus so much more. I have to question the 2025 release of Bolt 2.0 as that would put the current bolt into an 8yr run which in today's society, would be 4yrs past due and very old. I more or less expect a refresh next year with a new version in 2020 as a 2021 model or 2021 as a 2022 model.
