Cadillac
Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

Edit: Due to the high influx of visitors, I must add this disclaimer: Contrary to what some media outlets have reported, this is not a leaked GM document. This is scientific speculation based on what we know about GM engines and other technologies GM has been working on. Simply put we are hypothesizing about what the power output of a 6.2 liter would be if direct injection was added for example. - DD

G. David Felt Alternative Fuels & Propulsion writer www.CheersandGears.com Today started out as a day dedicated to my wife and kids as an early mothers day due to family scheduling issues and left me with a WOW factor after driving the new 2015 Escalade ESV. So how did I end up on the Bellevue Cadillac dealership lot, My wife wanted to spend some time shopping with our Daughter Amy and our son's girlfriend. So I dropped them off at the Bellevue Mall and headed to Auto Row to see what was new and interesting. Spotted this new SUV on the front corner. It had a whopping total of 1.4 miles on the spedo when I sat in her and I left her with 24 miles total when I left. …

Cadillac today unveiled the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade V. This visual refresh brings the look of the Escalade in line with the forthcoming Cadillac Escalade IQ EV. The driver of this styling change is the move from horizontally oriented front-end lighting style to a verticle one. The verticle lighting style is a historic signature look that reemerged on the Cadillac Lyriq and the refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5. Included in the front end detail and inspired by the Cadillac Celestiq, the Cadillac crest is illuminated on all Escalade models, while V-Series and Premium Luxury Platinum trims receive an illuminated grill surround. Power open and close doors…

We reported back in April that Cadillac would be releasing a V-Series version of their OPTIQ EV for the coming model year, joining the Cadillac Lyriq-V in the V-series lineup. Today we finally get the details. 519 HP, 3.5-Second Sprint, and NACS Charging While the base Cadillac Optiq already makes 300 horsepower, the OPTIQ-V bumps that up to a robust 519 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque when the car is in Velocity Max mode. That is sufficient to sprint to 60 in just 3.5 seconds. Carrying an 85 kWh battery pack, Cadillac's preliminary range estimate comes in at 275 miles. Naturally, that range would decrease with a lot of Velocity Max driving. For charging, the OPT…

Cadillac continues to deliver on their move to being the standard of the world again in luxury autos and their move to an electric product line supported by an ICE product line. Cadillac had originally set a timeline of all ICE autos to be ended by 2030 but due to slow global sales, has taken the end date of ICE luxury autos off the table and will instead stop production with EVs clearly outsell ICE. With their recent delivery of the OPTIQ, Vistiq, and LYRIQ V EV's to the Cadillac family, Cadillac has moved forward with expanding the Escalade family having equal standard and extended length SUVs with the 2026 Escalade IQL. The IQL edition takes the best part …

Why not build new 4VPC,DOHC,VVT,DI heads and intake for the 4.8/5.3/6.0L SB V8 to use as a replacement for the Northstar line? We know the SB V8 can be had with an Aluminum Block and the tooling is allready there. They could use the DOHC version's as a MORE PREMIUM Caddy ect. version of the SB V8's while useing the OHV ones for Chevy/Pontiac ect. They could even use the DOHC ones as EXCLUSIVE GMC/Caddy Engines in the HIGHER END Trucks/SUV's. That way ALL GASOLINE GM V8's could be SB based in the SHORT BLOCK but different in the HEADS/INTAKE ect. I could see a Caddy optional--CTS/standard--STS with a DOHC 4VPC VVT DI 325CI 5.3L 375+HP V8. http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_ne...cadillac_cts_v/ According to Motor Trend, the next CTS-V will have a detuned version of the upcoming Corvette Blue Devil engine that will put out about 600 hp. Don't know how reliable this is, but if it's true, I'm starting to save my pennies. As pointed out, this will beat the pants off of any direct competitor and will even whip some a segment up. What I like most about this (other than the 600-hp part) is that GM used their "internal synergies" to do this at a lower cost. Which, also makes me think that other cars to get versions of this engine are the STS-V and XLR-V. After that, who knows? Maybe the engine will be used f…

Here's a concept of the an Alpha Platform vehicle adopting the Converj's lines. Notable changes include:- The front wheel is moved forward. The chassis is stretched to make it a sedan. A second set of doors is inserted. 2012 Cadillac ATS Front Engine, Rear Drive, Rear Mounted Transaxle, 4-seats, 3350 lbs, 48%(F) / 52% (R ) weight distribution. 3.0 liter V6 (LF2) with 300 hp @ 7500 rpm & 228 lb-ft @ 6000 rpm, 6-speed Hydramatic (6L50S) Automatic. The Cadillac CTS: The Future of Rock 'n' Roll in Cars By Bill Howard | Link to Original Article @ Technoride I've seen the future of rock 'n' roll in cars—and its name is the 2008 Cadillac CTS. Ditto for the future of classical music, hip-hop, and country. Unless Cadillac screws up royally between now and the car's launch in August, the CTS will have the most versatile audio system ever developed for a motor vehicle. I could tell at today's press briefing, just from sitting in the car—parked in an outdoor courtyard at a fancy New York City restaurant—and tinkering with the center stack. The CTS is Cadillac's small luxury/sport sedan, sent out to do battle with the BM…

The way I see it, while Cadillac may be leading GM's brand renaissance it has two problems:- (1) Lack of a Globally relevant, unified product portfolio. (2) Lack of a Compact Luxury (3-series/C-class) offering. The first is quite apparent. You have the Escalade which is a US Suburban derivative. The SLS which is a China only S-class competitor which Caddy won't bring to the US and EU because it believes that it has decided to surrender to the S-class and the 7-series rather than risk additional funds to try and market a so-so product. The BLS is yet another derivative, this time an Opel, and a flop in the EU where they just wanted to bring out something for the sake…

Some automakers begin a new design direction with their flagship model (example: Bangled BMW 7-series). Cadillac does not do this. They began their new design evolution with the entry level CTS model. Do you think that Cadillac should have began the new edgy design with a top line model or the entry level car like they did back in 2003 with the CTS (as a 2004 model)?

Is it feasible to create a sort of "electrochromatic" adjustable tint for all the windows of a car? I noticed the new Ferrari Superamerica has this feature for the roof panel and thought about how cool it would be to be able to dictate how dark or light the windows get. I'm guessing it would be an expensive item to create, but maybe we'll see this on the ULS. I've looked at the new S Class, which is being praised for it's rather boring innovations. Where are the real innovations though?

Europeans love diesel engines. Diesels are more desirable from both a tax standpoint and from a fuel cost standpoint. Diesels are also viewed as technologically superior to petrol engines. I stuck this in with Cadillac, tho I tend to shy away from such a 'dismissive' linking, and because I think this is significant enough to keep it public (the Lounge was my 2nd choice). Here are some new vids focusing on the rescued 1955 LaSalle II roadster Motorama show car, internally known as XP-34. This car, tho historically fell thru the cracks and garnered little attention from enthusiasts, was a technological tour de force. One of the most amazing things learnt here is the sheer towering mastery General Motors was regularly exercising in the 1950s, one of it's greatest decades of all time. Usually the term "pushmobile" is an automatic excuse to wave off a car as…

So.....we've been allocated 10 CTS-V sedans since ordering began. The first three I ordered loaded....specifically with the Recaro seat package. Since the first three, the Recaro seat package has been on hold....... So, 7 out of my 10 CTS-V sedans are equipped with standard CTS leather seats, and no alcantara steering wheel/shifter. To be honest....I have no idea of why the Recaro seat package has been on hold.....GM reps are surprisingly "mum" on the matter. I don't give a f*ck for the reason. Supply? Who knows....but for GM not to have planned ahead to provide adequate supply for what is seen as a "must have" on a vehicle of this caliber is just unacceptable.…

I am looking to replace my 200S soon and have been seriously considering a used ATS or CTS. I almost pulled the trigger on a CTS V-sport a couple of months ago but didn't and now the used prices on all CTS's (not just V-sport) seem to have rebounded since then. Good for Cadillac that they found bottom and are climbing again but bad for me. Sooo... after driving this 2016 ATS Luxury 2.0T and mentioning to the salesman about the CTS, when I got back to the dealership after the test drive he started talking to me about leasing a "new" courtesy vehicle with 4-5k miles on it already that would count against the lease. Finally Cadillac, has leadership that inspires confidence. I love it. Despite the constant berating of the detractors, Johan is seemingly pushing forth. Despite the actual desire of some for Cadillac to bow down to the Germans and except a place under them we have a foreign born leader saying "No.. We will rise back to our lofty position on TOP." It is impossible to compare ATS sales to 3series sales unless the variances of both are at least 80% the same. These type of things are only reserved for Cadillac though.. and never brands such as Audi or Jag. It is funny when U think about those two, as both are currently in a similar sales fashion as Cadillac, with one of the…

Autoweek has published the first ATS full test and from what they find they feel it is world class and has what it takes to compete. I have always found Autoweeks reviews generally the most balanced and fair in the media market [not counting those here]. They have tested all three engines in the RWD model and they love the car. In all areas it is either best in class or as good. Here are some of the highlights. Interior is A4 matches build quality and is better than the # series. The ATS is lightest in class by 113 pounds and the weight loss is not due to anything that will contribute to noise or harshness. In other words Cadillac did not take the easy way out. Brakes…

With GM's announcement yesterday, we finally have concrete numbers on the ATS's weight. ATS 3.6 V6 = 3,456 lbs ATS 2.5 / 2.0T < 3,400 lbs Honestly, this is at the lowest end of the expect range for the V6 powered car and only about 100 lbs heavier than the 328i. It also means that with the same engine, the ATS is no heavier than the Delta II Verano -- that's no small feat. Given GM's porky track record, I expected the ATS to come in at about ~3,600 for the V6. This is excellent news. Given that the Small Block V8 is only 40 lbs heavier than the DOHC 3.6 V6, this opens up the possibility of a Pushrod V8 powered ATS-V at around 3,600 lbs and still under 3,700 l…

They said it will pull no punches and will be aimed directly at the BMW. V series will be included. The magazine has a good interview with Tadge Juechter of the Vette team. The smallest and lightest V model ever, Cadillac has applied years of development from its CTS-V models, not to mention a racing program that has been winning championships on race tracks across America for over a decade. So where better to put Caddy’s claims to the test than on the long straights and complex corners of the Circuit of the Americas Formula 1 circuit in Austin, Texas? Turbocharged Power The lessons learned for this car may come from the past, but Cadi…

http://autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?...08&Profile=1004 To sum it up, they love it. Here is a cut to the gripes. Where the Cadillac STS-V falls short is on the inside: its feels as though the materials are done on the cheap. I don’t know if it is the choice of black zebrano-like wood, if it is the quality of the plastic, if it has to do with the light-colored leatherette material. But it just doesn’t work. That’s the only gripe. The question remains: Will people step up and spend the kind of money this car is asking, even though number for number, and dollar for dollar it would be well spent? If they don’t at least consider the Cadillac STS-V, they’re doing t…

http://autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?...41/TOC01ARCHIVE DETROIT - General Motors has shown auto dealers fastback coupe and Euro-styled crossover variants of the Cadillac CTS, sources close to Cadillac say. Cadillac General Manager Jim Taylor says developing a broader line of CTS-based vehicles - as BMW does with the 3 series and Mercedes-Benz with the C class - would boost revenue for the vehicle program. But Taylor says GM's board of directors has yet to approve the plan. The restyled and re-engineered 2008 CTS sedan is scheduled to reach dealerships in fall 2007. It's a key part of GM's effort to build on the revival of its luxury brand and attempt to win more c…

BLS a bust?

Cadillac BLS a bust in Europe? Despite lowering expectations for its Euro-only BLS sedan all the way down to around 7,000 to 10,000 units annually, it appears Cadillac was still a bit too optimistic with the car's chances for success in the old country. The FWD sedan that's based on the Saab 9-3 and built alongside the Swede in the company's Trollhatan factory has sold a little over 400 units after being on sale since April, with the month of May being its first full sales month. Trollhatan has slowed its production of the car down to 30 units a week. When the BLS launched the factory was producing that many cars per day. At this pace GM/Saab is on track to produce only …

My new issue of CAR magazine which is a British publication has a full page ad for the new BLS in it. In the ad it says "Independence Day - April 8th". This is when you can order the car, with the availability of a turbodiesel or petrol engines. The car does not look too bad in the ad, a smoothed over CTS I guess.

Cadillac BLS By Andrew Frankel of The Sunday Times It's a Yank tank with a secret There is a delicious reality gap between the way this new Cadillac BLS is being presented and the reasons for its existence. Ask at Cadillac and you’ll be told this is “a brave new product” for those who “dare to be different”. As it goes on sale in Europe it will be accompanied by a slogan stating that it’s “more than a car, it’s a Cadillac”. This, of course, is cobblers. It’s not a Cadillac at all, unless you choose to call a reskinned Saab 9-3 built at Saab’s Trollhattan factory a Cadillac. It exists because Saabs aren’t selling as they should, leading to spare capacity at the factor…

Wake up GM Yes! Now that I have your attention, lets help General Motors wake up and get its act right. Being a Cadillac enthusiast I am disillusioned as to why GM would build and market the Cadillac CTS to compete against the likes of the Mercedes C class, BMW 3 series, Audi A4, Volvo S60, Infiniti G35 etc and yet not offer a feature that can be found in ALL these competing brands: an all wheel drive option. Yikes! GM are you serious about designing cars with consumers in mind? Well, hopefully you’ll get the message loud and clear when consumers keep trading in their CTS’s for the competition leaving the CTS to have a natural death. Long live the CTS…long live the con…

Cadillac ATS Alright guys.. First it isn't a buy or sell really.. but more the idea. I've got the itch again for another vehicle but I'm not really sure why. I've been throwing around the idea of a used(40k and under miles) Cadillac ATS but it would have to have the 2.0T or 3.6. But after looking it seems the 3.6 are a little more than I'd like to spend and it isn't that perfect of a vehicle to overspend. So I was thinking.. First, as anybody driven one? What are your personal feelings about the car? Second, are there any known issues with the 2.0T that I should avoid or not? Is that the same 2.0 that was in the HHR SS and Cobalt SS? Third, what are all …

So I got my C&D today, and the Escalade was in a comparo vs. the Navigator (5th place), Infiniti QX56 (3rd!?! WTF?), Audi Q7 (2nd), and GL450 (1st). Now, it's not that I don't agree with some of the scoring (Escalade got low marks for the second and third row), but some of them are pretty much BS. Somehow it got a lower score on ergonomics than the Audi and MB (the MB tons of tiny buttons, and Audi locates their HVAC units in the worst place ever, as well as having the MMI crap in a terrible place if you're trying to drive), and it's interior design was also scored lower than each. Maybe it's just me, but it looks a lot better than either, IMO (I feel the Audi's is …

Following our tradition of bringing you the latest in General Motors news, rumors, and exclusive content, Cheers and Gears is proud to present our vision of the 2008 Cadillac CTS sport sedan. We know you've seen a few rear-angle renderings before, but we feel ours is rather accurate. From a variety of sources, including spy shots, the infamous 60 Minutes glimpse, and his own imagination, C&G member and Photoshop artist Frank Budzyn (NOS2006) created his own detailed rendition of what is arguably the most anticipated product debut this season. From what we've seen, the CTS' successor will reamin chiseled and taut, continuing the side detailing trend set by the 2003 C…

You already saw a great STS-based rendering from artist and member NOS2006 here on C&G last Monday. Tonight, we're proud to unveil new presentations from two more of our resident artists. Again, using spyshots, our sources, and our imaginations, we've coalesced a multitude of information into three exceptional renderings C&G Staff Member and Artist Ted Krygier (!!!TED!!!) used a well-known spyshot as a foundation to conceptualize his vision of the 2008 CTS, making his very accurate in terms of proportioning. From this, we can gleam the '08 will be very taut and still very edgy, evolving the Art & Science design language in just the right amount. Thin LED e…

C&G Spies! 2008 Cadillac STS-V C&G member Frank Budzyn (NOS2006) was lucky enough to both see the next STS-V without camo and have a means to photograph it on hand. Check out the photos below. The unclad exterior shot exposes what we've already seen to be identifiers of the refreshed 2008 STS line - cleared 'international' LED taillamp clusters. The decklid retains the same aggressive spoiler treatment as the current STS-V, but the lower bumper valance houses what appear to be new dual Euro-style reflectors, perhaps rear foglamps. The interior appears largely unchanged from what we see today. With the current STS-V pushing 469hp from a supercharged 4.4l Nor…

Read this in a recent car mag, can't remember which. Basically, Mercedes is collecting and restoring some of their classic models at specialized shops. For the longest time, I've felt Cadillac should do this. My family has had 3 beautiful old Caddies over the years- a 64 Coupe DeVille, a 65 Sedan DeVille, and a 75 CDV. Ours were all in great shape (dad was a bodyman/mechanic, so that helped) as long as we owned them, but I've always seen similar old Caddies that are just sad to behold- belching smoke, rusting to pieces, missing pieces, etc. I always thought that, out of respect for the brand, Cadillac should buy out all those old cars, restore the ones th…

I hit the show yesterday - new venue right in the heart of the South End of Boston (Southie for those in the area.) This new facility was a great improvement over the old one. Much more room. I have to say, sitting in the CTS there really gets the adrenaline going. I was struck by the size seeming much smaller than I expected given the chatter I've seen in the press about it being a 5-series size car - I didn't find this to be the case. In fact I actually liked the size of the STS-V they had on display (this is one sweet car by for $80k I'd have to think hard about it.) Really depends on the primary purpose of the car. Certainly as a personal driving machine the CTS si…

I posted on my thread in The Lounge but didn't know if people would see it there. I checked out my new CTS at the dealership last night (haven't taken delivery quite yet) and noticed that my car ('07 3.6L Sport with 6-speed manual) is rated at only 17 city/26 highway. That seems pretty crappy for a V6.....especially one with a manual tranny that probably has a pretty tall geared sixth gear. I don't really care.....but it just seems way low. Hell, my C6 is rated at 18/28....but that's an '06. I'm really thinking this has more to do with the new testing methods that I think were instituted by the EPA for '07 testing....? (BTW....the car is HOT...!)

Cadillac Announces 3.6L DI V6 For The 2012 SRX (Finally!) William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 12, 2011 If there is an Achilles's Heel for the Cadillac SRX, it would be the engine lineup. Either the engine didn't have enough power (3.0L V6) or problems with the type fuel put in and abysmal fuel economy (2.8T V6). Now, Cadillac is rectifying that by offering a 3.6L DI V6 for the 2012 SRX. The 3.6 is projected to produce 300 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque and will be able to run on E85. Other changes for the 2012 SRX include Bluetooth becoming standard on all models, door lock switches on the driver and passenger doors, and heated steering…

Cadillac showed the first images of the coming 2026 Cadillac Vistiq EV today. This vehicle slots above the Lyriq and below the Escalade IQ in Cadillac's EV lineup, effectively taking the ICE-powered Cadillac XT6's spot on the electric side of the lineup. Though they did not provide any technical details, we can assume it will ride on the Ultium platform and come in single-motor rear-wheel and dual-motor front-wheel drive configurations with 340+ horsepower to 500+ horsepower, respectively. GM's modular Ultium battery packs will likely be configured for between 300 miles to 320 miles of range. The Vistiq joins the smaller Optiq to fill out the small, medium, large, e…

Wasn't it due in showrooms this summer...seems they should be announcing something by now before the public forgets about it. We already got info on the XTS, although I don't recall the timing of those in showrooms in comparison. I'm anxiously awaiting to see if I can afford an ATS with AWD.

Cadillac was flying through 2005. The CTS was selling at record numbers even though the car is four model years old, the Escalade was keeping steady and the STS was beating the Seville sales by over 200%. Then October came and took a 7.9% year-over-year gain and turned it into a 4.9% gain. Ward’s Auto World talked to Cadillac’s General Manager Jim Taylor about Cadillac sales worldwide and optimism that Cadillac will gain 5% in 2005 and another 5% in 2006. Will the V-Series cars and 2007 Escalade have enough “umph” to add an extra 10,000 units next year? Ward's articleWard's article

The standard saloon is also set to get diesel power, but prices won't be announced until later in the year, when the car arrives in the UK alongside a CTS estate. Cadillac's fuel cell concept, the …

As Cadillac moves forward with its rebuild of a naming scheme away from alpha-numerics and back to names, it ran into a connedrum. What to do with Escalade. Cadillac has decided that all of their EV names will end with the letters "iq". Last year, we were introduced to the Lyriq and the Celestiq. Other names that Cadillac has registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office are Ascendiq, Optiq, Symboliq, Vistiq, and Lumisiq. This put Cadillac into a pickle with Escalade. Today, Cadillac confirmed that the all-electric version of the Escalade will be called the Escalade IQ. While obviously a departure from the rest of the lineup, adding the suffix trim allow…
