I have a pretty interesting issue with my Ps2 (newer one) I've been playing MLB 2008, and after about a half an hour- the PS2 just turns off. Play it again for a while, and seems to be ok.... It has done this two nights in a row. Anybody seen this issue before?

S&P Breaches Low, Triggering Selling Wave Jeff Cox | 13 Nov 2008 | 01:08 PM ET http://www.cnbc.com/id/27697872/site/14081...C&par=yahoo Hmm. My own age-contemporaries are mostly in charge now. I hope that they're up to the task. It's all starting to resemble "The Lord of the Flies" by William Golding. There ought to be klaxons sounding in some distant station somewhere.

BRRRAAAAP! It's music to the ears of a subset of car nuts. Noisy exhaust setups are hardly a new phenomenon, but the fashion for mufflers that intentionally buzz as much as possible is a more recent development in the pantheon of annoying things others do. Exasperation with the muffler rap has led a New Zealand vigilante to start terrorizing cars equipped with what he or she describes as "boy-racer exhausts" in a written manifesto sent to the Marlborough Express. Using the handle "Phantom Expander," the self-righteous vandal has taken to filling the tailpipes of offending cars with self-expanding foam. So far, the four-hour set time of the foam has been the saving grace…

I'm kinda bored if you hadn't noticed, and procrastinating a bit, but oh well. For those of you who have them, what USB flash drives do you use? I've got quite a few, some of which don't work anymore. I have a Memorex drive which I really liked, but the drive got bent so it's no good anymore. I have a Lexar 512MB Jump Drive from college...this stupid thing was like $60 from the school store. Still use it. I have a PNY attache Which I use from time to time. i got it as gift. Thi s thing is made from cheap plastic, and the case tends to slide off. I had an old 256MB one that was built better, but lost it. My other drive is a 1GB Corsair Voyager. I love this th…

Want to talk politics with your neighbour? The Economist I WAS in Seattle on Monday, chatting to Pat Murakami, a lady who runs a small computer repair shop and does a little political agitating on the side. She’s concerned about her neighbourhood, a vibrant area full of Vietnamese shops and veiled women waiting at bus stops. A few years ago, the city tried to declare parts of it “blighted”. That would have enabled it to seize people’s homes and hand the land to private developers. Mrs Murakami started a group called “Many Cultures, One Message”, to rally her neighbors to object to the proposed bulldozing. She prevailed. Or at least, the plan to knock down chunks of he…

NOTE: I figured somebody had to pick up the slack from 98's abscence, and post the latest Autoextremist articles. So I did. Detroit. After wading through yet another glowing article about NASCAR, this time from Fortune magazine (September 5th cover date), it's clear to me that the mainstream media and sports marketing gurus have not only partaken of the NASCAR Kool-Aid, they've had taps installed in their houses for a constant free-flowing dose of it every morning. Members of the media in a kinder, gentler era would refer to Fortune's genuflection to and canonization of NASCAR as a "puff" piece. I'm not going to be that nice. This is 200…

http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Consumer...=Malibu&src=vip As you can see via the link, this shows a "CR snapshot" of the '06 Chev. Malibu. See how many errors you can spot on the page. I never thought it would be this hard to find a used part. I've been on the hunt for a whole driver's side visor (whole assembly) for my wife's 2003 Cavalier (4dr). You'd think it would be an easy task....not so much. Running into issues when hitting the yards: #1- Many of the Cavs I've hit already have no visors...I 'm guessing this is a common issue. Thanks, GM #2- If one has one, it's pretty much destroyed. Can get one from the dealership for the tidy sum of 161 bucks...worth almost as much as the car at this point. I've called upon my J body people, with no success so far. Catch is it has to be from a 03-05 Cav...I'm quite anal about that. I'm hoping you guys…

Top 10 Gay Cars One of the perks of living in the Motor City is the North American International Auto Show. 2006 promised to be the most exciting show ever, and since gay business is my business I decided to take work on a pleasure cruise through the car exhibits. Out came the gayest cars of 2006. But before all of you straight and curious readers speed to the nearest trade in lot, know that this list is based on a combination of the humor, style and sophistication. They watched me walk to my car-and open the door...as I start putting stuff in- I hear-"Man, the white trash gets worse here every day.." and they drive away in their 300... I was like- Granted-I'm sure nobody looks great after a 12 hour day- but bash on my beater? It's a little rusty-but it's clean inside and out-and shiney too, after a good wax last week...I take care of all my cars-regardless.... So, if there was one car you could pick up from the side of the road for cheap, what would it be? You can list as many that come to mind, but keep down to the top three. :AH-HA_wink: This is what I'm thinking of... The 1993 Pontiac Sunbird had some odd but interesting changes from the regular bland Cavalier. There was a front faceia that disowned the BMW Kidney-grille setup more commonplace on today's Pontiacs and was more in line with a 1978 Firebird. The interior had an odd layout and very unique instrumentation. Although a bit feminine, with the right mods you can put some chest hair on this J-Body. Take the above car and apply the following: -Convert the J-Body…

Has anyone noticed how they keep adding all these new features to Facebook that make it easier for people to know every little detail about yourself? Just this morning, I logged in and there's a new feature called "News Feed" that highlights everything you have done recently on facebook...posting on walls, commenting on pictures, accepting invitations, etc. Talk about stalkerish. It is a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier sedan. 2.2L 4 cylinder with the 4-speed auto. It has 235,000kms which is about 183,000 miles I believe. The transmission has been rebuilt, the car has had two owners and was bought in my hometown and driven there. It was used as a commuter car to Toronto everyday which is about 90kms one way. The car is in very good running condition, has been e-tested. I dont think the radio works but I wanted to get a new one anyways because I need a CD player. The car does have some body rust but it is minor (surface rust) under the gas tank and on both rear quarter panels. The rockers are also getting a bit rusty but everything else seems solid. They ev…

So, despite previous worries that the Astra wasn't going to hold up, it seems it may be here to stay for a while. At the moment, it's still having random issues with the fuel gauge and range readouts going out of synch (further investigation doesn't point to a weak fuel pump, but rather issues with the CANBUS controller), but otherwise it hasn't stalled or quit since having the camshaft sensors replaced. I realized some time ago that I didn't want to spend much money on the car, however there are "attention" areas that I'm going to deal with in the near future on the car. First, I've realized driving a car like the Astra makes it an absolute hell to drive at night when s…

Well, after reading through the classifieds while helping my girlfriend look for a cheap computer monitor, I couldn't help but notice a bevy of ads from local Chevy and B-P-GMC dealers seeking sales associates and offering training and the like and it started to think about it. The big question is - how is the car sales business for a young 22 year-old college-educated male with a real passion for cars (me)? As far as the others: What are these 'training programs' typically like? What's the difference between an internet sales position and regular sales? What's …

It seems that since cell phones have taken off, driving has gotten worse. Last weekend alone, the same chick in a SUV almost nailed me as we were both turning into the curb cut for the Starbucks parking lot AND as she was maneuvering for a parking spot. I look for clarification. She was straddling the cell phone with her shoulder, yapping away. I honestly wonder what could be so important that people are on their cell phones in their cars constantly. At any rate, most close calls have involved others' cell phone use, it seems. I prefer to use a land line. If I decide to have a conversation on a cell while in an automobile, I pull over. I will talk on a cell ph…

I googled around a good 15 minutes, can't find what I am looking for. In vintage Road & Track road tests they used to feature scale 'see-thru' line drawings on the car's spec page. These showed the outline of the car, the power train & the driver seat/steering column. Here's a tiny example : My library of original mags is primarily Car Life & Motor Trend, so I don't know when this practice of providing these scale drawing started. ANYWAYS…… I am looking for that same sort of scaled line drawing for ANY 1950s car, say '50-57 (as the '58/59/60s start getting 'lower/longer' than I'm looking for). Well, started a new little job on the side this week for a small used car dealership in St. Petersburg. I'm kind of their internet sales guy, taking pictures of the new arrivals and posting them up on Cars.com, Craigslist, etc. and trying to set up appointments for showings. Kinda fun and I must admit the fast-paced dealer environment is a little fun. Again, its a small lot (~25 cars), but it keeps pretty busy with 5-10 new cars in every week. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Here's an example of a listing I put together. Hopefully it makes you want to buy it! Clicky

Well, I didn't want to do this on 9/11 with it being such an important date and all, but seeing as in how it is September, I planned on doing a 911 thread. There may not be many replies on this one, but I know there's a few out there who have an appreciation for the brand. As for me, well, many of you probably know the 911 is my all-around favorite car model, so this one will be both fun an torturous. The rules- 1) Factory 911's from Porsche only, no RUF's, 9ff's, Singers, etc. 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These obviously are not your only cars. 4) Maximum of 9 choices. Have fun.

full story here Frank Oresnik is on the verge of making history driving his old standby — the pickup truck he says is about to pass the 1 million mile mark. Oresnik took the 1991 Chevrolet Silverado to the Oil Ex-Change Quick Lube in Medford on Thursday for what he expects will be its last oil change and tuneup before hitting the magic number. He said the truck is 1,200 miles from a million, and once he hits the mark he will retire the vehicle. "I feel almost like the longtime NFL player as he goes into his last training camp knowing this is the end," Oresnik said. He credits proper maintenance and a good measure of luck for allowing the truck to rack up so many…

One option I am pondering for when my 500 lease is up this fall is to find a dirt cheap used ford freestar to drive for 2 years or so. generally, i like my vehicles to have a full center console with armrest. I do not like the narrow fold down armrests off the seats that vans typically have. the interior of many ford products has the same kind of look and plastics. i was debating if a guy could do a hack job on say, a center console from a junked 500 or say migrate the rear console of a freestyle or expedition or something into working between the front seats of the freestar? obviously developing a solid mounting system and trying to determine the proper height …

I was just thinking the other day about one of my favorite cars and of all my cars i have been through i think my favorite cars was my 1980 Oldsmobile Omega 2 door with the iron duke in a deep black. I remember beating it to death and jumping it off of rail road tracks with friends. I also remember rebuilding the engine when i blew it up. I sold it to my neighbor at the time (1989 ish) for i think $150. The body was still clean and straight. I wish I would of kept that car. Just bored here so i figure i would ask you guys about one of your favorite cars you have ever owned either current or in the past.

I haven't been able to find it on YouTube, but tonight I noticed an ad for the Nissan Altima that opened up with acutal quotes from Motor Trend and Car and Driver reviews of the Toyota Camry. Both quotes directed insult to the Camry, with the Car and Driver quote saying the Camry was "dull as dishwater." You know who should be making an ad just like that for their mainstream sedan, right? Bravo to Nissan for doing what a certain car company never had the balls to do.

Well, it seems I am seeing way more NEW American cars on the road. Great! This morning, I saw another new red Camaro parked next to a meter and, on the freeway, I was following a brand new black Mustang. (Gosh, darn, the slight design adjustment in the rear light panel with the tapered taillamps makes it very attractive). I also see lots of new Fusions still wearing their new dealer plates and quite a few new Malibus. I also see many new Focuses. What I see less of is Enclaves, which started out hot, and seem to have waned. (Personally, I don't like them, they're too bloated and bulbuous). I notice this because I live in a state that wears its love for foreign…

Next time you think your hotel bill is too high you might want to consider this... Husband and wife are traveling by car from Key West to Boston After almost twenty-four hours on the road, They're too tired to continue, and they decide to stop for a rest. They stop at a nice hotel and take a room, but they only plan to sleep for four hours and then get back on the road. When they check out four hours later, the desk clerk hands them a bill for $350.00. The man explodes and demands to know why the charge is so high. He tells the clerk although it's a nice hotel, the rooms certainly aren't worth $350.00! When the clerk tells him $350.00 is the standard rate, the …

Hey guys, I know that at least some of you are from PA, and was hoping you could help me out. I am supposed to be moving to Grove City in about a month, and was hoping someone could tell me what the area is like. All I know is that it's a small town about half way between Pittsburgh and Erie. So what kind of recreation is there, is it a nice area, etc?

The Economics of Immigration Are Not What You Think NDN Waves of new immigrants often spark economic anxiety and cultural discomfort, as well as occasional violence and wide-net crackdowns, on the Arizona model. Even here, a nation comprised almost entirely of immigrants and their descendants, we’ve seen these reactions not only in recent times but also a century ago, when waves of poor immigrants from Europe arrived here. With a hundred years’ distance, however, we can now see that those early waves of immigration were generally associated not with economic dislocation and national decline, but with extraordinary economic boom times and America’s emergence as the world…

OK I'm in traffic yesterday in Ocean City, MD. It's like 3 lanes wide. Summertime, everybody's there to have a ball. Pull up to a red light and this PERSON in the truck next to me has a song blaring. Here's a snippet: "Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo Now don't tell me There's nothin' To do..." Please help me uncover the mystery! What is the name of this song?

Only about a half dozen times in my life have I found myself so depressed, angry, despondent, miserable & distressed that even cars & car related activities did not lift my spirits... even thoe sight of a '69 Camaro or a '50s Cadillac did not put a smile on my face. I have reached rock bottom in my life. I'm really so upset and have been of the past two days I can not even acomplish basic tasks like basic math. Marcia (girlfriend of 4 years) has as of two days ago told me that we are through. Over. Done. Not even a chance in hell that she will make an effort at our relationship. Does not love me anymore, in fact H-A-T-E-S me. And of course our 22m…

Coming home tonight I saw a very strange CTS at a light...white, but the hood and front fenders were flat black, the stock fascia, grille and headlights gone---replaced with a large black flat, thick steel bumper and a bull bar (looked like something from an off-roader). Round headlights and fog lights bolted to the top of the bumper. Black steel wheels. Looked very mean and serious.. I should have done a u-ee and followed it.. it was dark, but it was at a well-lit intersection..... (and I only had one glass of wine with dinner, so I'm not going nutters). Maybe something specially built for the Dept. of Homeland Security (Urban Assault Vehicle).

Are any of you really versatile; you can see both the good and bad of both sides of any situation? And, if you don't initially see one side of the situation, once somebody else explains the "new" side, you're able to understand it almost instantaneously? I'm like this. I'm just curious how unique a trait it is. It's good in some situations, where you're looking for a problem; but, in others, it's like you have ADD and don't know where to side and why, and you seem to constantly be contradicting yourself.

Now this guy really is beginning to bug me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWomqEroBn8...porsche%20crash I'd love an old 70s Porsche 911 for a winter beater/SCCA car. Why would you destroy a car this cool? What's his fu$%ing problem? As far as the bitching about the layout of the dash I think this guy forgot he's English. Show me one British car from the 1970s that has a logical interior/layout. Nevermind that unlike a Jaguar that can't even start if the barometric presssure shifts 3% from when the car rolled off the assembly line at the factory, or an MG that rusts to death in about 8 months the Porsche 911 was an innovative car with one of the most su…

So I just found out that Brittany's been cheating on her boyfriend with me and I didn't know it until I messaged the dude on myspace about a half hour ago. She said they were really good friends and then he told me to call him because he had to find out what was going on. Come to find out they've been going out for 8 months and she's been with him everytime she says she's going to the mall or something. I'm so sick to my stomach. She was everything I could've asked for and more. WTF?!

Camaro Crucifixion, Take Three: The Chromaro Proves Chrome Is Forever by black-knight, C&G Editor/Reporter 16th, May, 2011 The onslaught of Camaro-focused brutality refuses to let off of the throttle, leaving the bowtie pony car to continue to suffer for the sins of car customization. Last week we brought you a prematurely ragged out fifth-generation Camaro and Trans Am Depot's Ponmaro GTO thing. This week, a couple of crazy Czechoslovakian dudes have decided to wrap a -- you guessed right -- fifth-generation Camaro completely in chrome, which if you didn't know, is to a man what diamonds are to a woman and both are forever. Instead of some humble photos…

Alright... anyone have plans for Labor Day weekend? If so, what are they? If not... and you live in my general area... There's the Knox Dale Fireman's homecoming that I talked about a while ago. It'd be a good chance for some of you guys to meet me... see Brookville... etc. You can camp out there with a tent... or a camper of some sort (not an actual camp ground... so no luxuries like water/electric hook ups). Basically, there's campfires, partying, consessions, games, raffles, bingo, entertainment, demo derby, volley ball, and softball. Starts Friday, main days are Sat and Sun, while it ends Monday. I stay all four days since I usually have nothing better to do. Wel…

They say that when it comes to Porn, every man has an Adam or Eve, an ideal in their mind they are looking for but never finding. Perhaps the same thing could b e said of cars....whhat is your automotive Adam or Eve...the very root of your passion? For me, it's anything roadster-ish. I say ish because cars like the S2000, solstice, Boxster, 56 T Bird, 72 vette Convertible, et al have side windows and are not truly roadsters.... But for me a pre WW II F1 car, a roadster running at Bonneville, a Solstice, a 57 vette ragtop, my Miata, a formula Ford, an IRL car, a 60's roadster at Indy, a sprint car at Eldora, winged Sprint cars at Columbus Motor Speedway, etc. Just doe…

Today marks the five year Anniversary of me & Marcia's first date. What a long, exciting, strange trip it has been. Since the major SNAFU this past Sept. we have been doing better than ever & today we're going to celebrate all the wonderful products of our relationship. Sofia being the greatest natrually. Our empathy towards eachother & the communication have improved imenselly and I have to say that I was wrong about couple's counceling, it can do a world of good in some cases. I have been very happy with the direction of my life as of late which is a pleasant change since the depresion and apathy I was feeling a few months ago.

Our last dog Rosie, a red lab, sadly passed away last september. We have been looking around for another puppy. My mom has been wanting a yellow lab for a long time. We recently found a good breeder who just had a litter of English labs. They are located up north from us, so my uncle who lives up in Morro Bay/SLO took a look at them for us today. We've seen a couple pics of the puppies, but my uncle took some more. My uncle was actually the one who found us our last dog as well, and he picked up Rosie's sister (who was a black lab who also passed away). My uncle picked up a yellow lab puppy last year which sadly died in a tragic accident, and since then he adopted an old…

Wed Aug 8, 1:13 AM ET WELLINGTON (Reuters) - A New Zealand couple is looking to call their newborn son Superman -- but only because their chosen name of 4Real has been rejected by the government registry. ADVERTISEMENT Pat and Sheena Wheaton say they will get around the decision by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages by officially naming their son Superman but referring to him as 4Real, the New Zealand Herald newspaper has reported. The Wheatons decided on the name after seeing the baby for the first time in an ultrasound scan and realising their baby was "for real". They decided 4Real was the best way to write it, but the name was rejected because the regi…

I am an honest man. I lied to my father. As some of you know, I like to go camping at a particular campground in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. It's a gay/lesbian campground, and further, it is clothing optional. I go two or three times a season. Without being too specific, over the last four years I've been going I've been telling my parents (seperately, they're divorced) that I've been going "camping upstate"... which sufficed... until my dad mentioned one day that he delivers tires (he retired from Armstrong floor company after 41 years and now drives a pickup truck, delivering tires for a local merchant) to a customer in the same town. I spoke up and said…
