Lounge Rules

While the Lounge is for members only, there are two key points we wish to have our members abide by:
1) Please use office talk. Talk that you would not use around the office, or infront of your boss for that matter, please do not use here on C&G
2) No political talk. There are plenty of forums on the 'net for that. Lets keep C&G free of political talk.

I think the other one obviously crossed a line (my apologies) and it was best to wipe it from exisstance and start over. So with that in mind, the rules are no crossing that line, and no car related stuff. There's already a thread for that. Let's try this again:

Today was a beautiful day so I decided to take the LS out for a drive and stopped around at the local lots. I saw my first new Taurus, a couple '10 Mustangs, and the new Equinox. What really surprised me was the lot traffic. The Ford-Hyundai-BMW dealership was packed with people; there were at least 6 driving around in cars and another 4 or 5 walking the lot. Most people seemed to be checking out the Ford side, although there were a couple over in the Hyundai area. Then I went to the Lincoln-Mercury dealership and nobody was there. Drove down the street to the Chevrolet dealership and only a couple people...same with the Nissan one next door. Then I drove north to…

I know we have the "What Are You Listening To?" thread, but what I'd like to see is a thread dedicated to the music snobs here, a hopefully thousand page thread dedicated to in-depth discussions of the music we listen to (without being far beyond obsessed with that analysis; there is a reason why your standard Tool fan is the butt of every joke associated with metal). I have no clue how to start this thread off, really. So I suppose I'll mention what I've been listening to a lot lately: The Avett Brothers. So far, this is the only band with a banjo that I love the hell out of. Great vocals, supreme musicianship, and Emotionalism was quite experimental in terms of dynami…

Its that time of year again. Winter is only a few months away and with it will come snow, ice, and worst of all, salt. With all the work that' been done t the Intrepid I really want it to sit the winter out again this year. However I also want to keep the Prizm out of the stuff as much as possible, because I don't want it to rust away. I'm just casually looking around for now, nothing serious. It's always fun to look. If I do get something 'm planning to do it around November. I'm looking for dirt cheap really. Something I won't feel bad about. I'd really like a wagon or a minivan...I miss that utility, but anything that is mechanically sound where it counts will do. …

During the trek up there today, I kept seeing full-size vans with porthole windows in the back. I haven't seen so many since the 70s, what's up with that? And they were all plain white work vans, not custom vans at all. Very strange. I didn't even think anyone still made those things.

I am starting to nitpick my truck, which usually means another new vehicle purchase is only a few months away. It won't be 2 years old until January 23rd and it has 27k miles. In heavy rains, it leaks. The headliner gets wet at the top of the driver's A-pillar. Also, it suddenly has a bunch of rattles in the doors and underneath. And I fear I am hearing the wear indicator on the front brake pads already. It's going in on Tuesday for a free promotional oil change and a brake inspection. I don't want to sound petty, I mean the truck runs fine, and starts with barely a flick of the key. It does have a couple very minor scuffs from people carelessl…

Here's a link to MSN Music if you want to do it that way: MSN: A7X: Song #9 It might cost money. Anyways, this is because I absolutely love this song. It's the best rock song I've heard since Guns N Roses' time. It also happens that all of A7X's music is some the best rock I've heard since their time with beautifully written music. The only downfall may be the lyrics. They're not for everybody. If you can't tell by the name of the band, they're somewhat Punk/Goth... especially on "Waki…

No one listens to me when I say "Something doesn't feel right" regarding my car. This has been going on for YEARS. Is it the law over there that everything they make has to be defective junk? Today's frustrations: - Brand new defective fluorescent bulb - Plastic-cased flourescent starters that twist apart as they are installed - Those same starters 6 months later that crumble to pieces due to degraded plastic and so require dismantling the light fixture to remove the remains. Thanks loads, Walmart! We have to find a way to eliminate this junk from our market.

I just looked out my front window and there was a wild rabbit struggling to drag its hind quarters across the street toward my yard. Seeing how vulnerable the little guy was on the asphalt, I put on some shorts and gloves and went out. He was trying to get away as best he could, but his energy level was low, and after a few pathetic attempts to jump onto the curb, I grabbed him, and as he peed himself, I carried him to my back yard and left him there. It will take a miracle for him to survive long-term with natural predators about (our houses back to a corn field), but I hope his scared little face lives to see more sunrises. Others need to respect that some here may not want so many thread turning into a gay thread. I find it somewhat disrespectful while at other times its not so bad. It seems there are certain lines that need not be crossed. For me I already have shown one of mine. Apparently the gay population feels their line is more important ???????? This thread was not locked solely because of me, Im just the one that had nerve to say something. My "banter" was not useless, I was polite and to the point. How come the gay people can get mad at me for not wanting to see gay implied photos but I can not get upset about having to see them ? There are plenty of places to enjoy sexual conte…

there are two on criagslist that i am currently considering. One is this 1975 honda cb360t http://greenville.craigslist.org/mcy/3603971001.html the other is this 1976 honda cb750k http://greenville.craigslist.org/mcd/3589964989.html i have done some research on the 360t because i am not really familiar with that model. it was only produced a few years and other than there being a recall on them for a cam chain tension defect, they seem pretty sound. with only 3000 miles it seems like a pretty good starter bike. However, the parts (some mechanical) are hard to come by and pretty expensive if needed. The CB750 is pretty much a guys fair weather ride. has 23K miles on …

  77. It's long been touted that virtual violence can easily replace actual violence. Apparently, the mayor of Mexico City wants to see if that'll hold up. --- Mexico City (Mexico) The new mayor of Mexico City is offering criminals a free Xbox 360 for every handgun, and a free PC for higher caliber firearms such as assault rifles, that are handed into police in an amnesty, according to Reuters. The move is being trialled in one of the more dangerous neighborhoods in the city and will be extended elsewhere if it proves a success. Already 17 handguns have been handed in, with the ex-criminals walking away with an Xbox 360 with which to conduct crime and mayhem in a less des…

  79. Today at the dentist, my dentist and the assistant started talking about cars after there had been an article in the local paper about gas possibly approaching $4/gallon. They started talking about how they were phasing out the incentives for hybrid cars and how the auto companies could be making more fuel efficient cars if they wanted to, they just weren't because they were in bed with the oil companies. I had all kinds of metal $h! in my mouth and it was numb so I couldn't refute. But there have also been other times where people have said stupid and uninformed things about the auto industry. For example: "I hear those electric Japanese cars get …

    * I’ve a love-hate relationship with photos of vehicles abandoned. Don’t like that vehicles are just left to sit there, but … they do make for awesome pictorial subjects. 85. My Cav avoided tree limbs, hail, and some pretty nasty weather. Good part. After coming back from an errand (only gone about an hour), I find two cars parked drunkly next to my car (I couldn't get into it to even move it) And you know what that means. I have a marks on both doors.....and on the rear panel.... I won't be able to tell how bad until morning... Part I noticed most- they made a nice cut into the rub strip on the driver's side...it's small (only about 4 inches big), but you can really see it. On the strip-will touch up paint work? or something to make it look better? Damn I'm pissed..... I tried to find the owners of these cars, but no one …

  86. We have all seen the Tundras, and now the FJ, sitting on the lots - even as rebates begin to hit the "IT'S FREE!!!" status. I have come up with a few possible special editions that may help Toyota move some of the inventory and get the sales back on track. Just a few of my early ideas, and I would love to hear yours! For the FJ Cruiser: The San Andreas Fault Edition - You never know where it will crack next! To help hide the unsightly cracks, I suggest a stripe kit that has the look of ripped asphalt at the belt line. The Zebra/safari edition: Again - those stripes will really keep the unsightly cracks out of the public eye. The Tundra: The Honey Bee Edition: Th…

I dreamt of being a campaign manager for Hillary and Barrack AT THE SAME TIME and then ended supporting Guilliani. (I am not making it up) I knew I was dreaming but the medicene just co…

  93. Rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated! I have been in the USA working on something and waiting for my surgery date to come up, well today was the day for my surgery. They started the surgery at 6 AM, and it continued until 10 AM when they wheeled me out in a wheelchair. All I can say is thank God we arrived in the NOX, as I would not have been able to get into the Grand Prix GXP as it sits to low to the ground. I should be back up to full speed by Friday. I Hope so, I have plans to go t Hershey Park, PA Friday. Do any of you know if there is a non-textbook type of book that shows the complete process of a car's development from beginning to end? I mean everything, the complete dirt. Timelines, how they put together things like the brochures, the owner's manual, the repair manual, advertising, what's the process of having parts etc ready at the dealerships, training, how they get parts suppliers involved and on and on.....I've always wanted to know all the nitty gritty behind the scenes stuff. Ha ha, maybe I am talking about a textbook!
