Cadillac
Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

What does everyone make of this photo? Jalopnik story According to Jalopnik, an anonymous tipster emailed in photo's of a key fob and clearly proved it is from Cadillac by flipping the fob over to show the Cadillac logo on the back. The interesting thing is that the new leader of Cadillac has been busy rolling back all of the former leaders car focused stuff and refocusing on CUVs. Yet when asked about a new Halo auto and if the mid-engine corvette could be used as a base, the response was we will have something much more interesting and special for Cadillac. Now with that said, we get pictures of this fob which would show a frunk and trunk plus a ret…

Cadillac continues to deliver on their move to being the standard of the world again in luxury autos and their move to an electric product line supported by an ICE product line. Cadillac had originally set a timeline of all ICE autos to be ended by 2030 but due to slow global sales, has taken the end date of ICE luxury autos off the table and will instead stop production with EVs clearly outsell ICE. With their recent delivery of the OPTIQ, Vistiq, and LYRIQ V EV's to the Cadillac family, Cadillac has moved forward with expanding the Escalade family having equal standard and extended length SUVs with the 2026 Escalade IQL. The IQL edition takes the best part …

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 26, 2012 The Cadillac ATS was designed to compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, and of course the BMW 3-Series. Surprisingly, the new ATS appears to be cutting into the sales of another Cadillac, the CTS. Since the ATS was launched back in September, CTS sales have taken a nose dive. In October, CTS sales dropped 40% when compared to the same time last year. Edmunds.com data backs up this up with the ATS being cross-shopped with the CTS. Thankfully, the data from Edmunds also shows the ATS being cross-shopped with the 3-Series. Is GM panicking with news like this? Well no. Chase Hawkins,…

When the Maharaja of Orchha desired bespoke bodywork for his new Cadillac V-16 chassis, he did what most fashion-conscious royal family members do: He went shopping in Europe. It was 1931, and France was in its heyday as the provider of haute couture bodywork for the bare running chassis one could purchase from the likes of Duesenberg, Bugatti, and yes, Cadillac. But instead of sampling the goods at Figoni et Falaschi or Franay, the Maharaja chose to engage the talents of a young Italian designer/coachbuilder named Battista Farina. Carrozzeria Farina was founded just a year earlier, but already, Farina's talents were being spoken of in glowing terms. The one-off Cadil…

Cadillac's boss Johan de Nysschen has a plan to rehabilitate Cadillac's image. Part of this plan deals with the dealers with tightening inventory and end the sell-at-any-cost mentality. But as Automotive News reports, there is a slight problem as Cadillac's dealer incentive programs promote the opposite. One incentive attaches $700 in dealer bonus money to every Cadillac vehicle they order from the factory, while another has cash payouts for growing sales. “The business model has been structured more for the bigger brands inside General Motors, rather than the small Cadillac brand,” said de Nysschen. “The luxury business is different.” de Nysschen instead …

General Motors announced this week that it would be investing $245 million and adding 300 new jobs at its Orion Assembly plant - home of the Chevrolet Sonic, Buick Verano, and soon to be Chevrolet Bolt. Now this investment is for an "all-new vehicle program unlike any in the plant's 32-year history." So what could this vehicle be? Motor Trend reports that a source says the program is "a future crossover with no predecessor" and that "the gaps in [Cadillac's] product lineup are obvious." So in other words, the possible program is a small Cadillac crossover. Now we have been hearing and reporting that Cadillac is planning to have a range of crossovers in the next f…

2015 will mark the launch of two Cadillac V-Series models; the ATS-V and CTS-V. But there will more V-Series models in the cars according Cadillac's chief engineer. “The ‘V’ will be on more models than today,” said Dave Leone, chief engineer for GM's luxury brand to The Detroit Bureau. Which cars will get the V treatment is unknown at the moment, but Leone says they will not go crazy with it. “Don’t expect to see an Escalade-V, or an SRX-V. We will focus on platforms which lend themselves to performance driving,” said Leone. Speculation at the moment has CT6 being the next model to get the V treatment. Cadillac is undergoing a number of changes. From the appointment of a new head to new models heading out to dealers, and more that are to be revealed. Now, the luxury automaker is moving to a new home. Yesterday, General Motors announced that Cadillac will be moving to a new headquarters in New York City. The new HQ will be located in the SoHo area with a "multipurpose brand and event space in conjunction with modern loft offices." At this time, Cadillac is deciding who will move to the headquarters at this time. However, technical operations will remain in Michigan. The move is expected to finish up next year. “With the relentless upward repositioning of successive new…

Studios duked it out in the design of the key car for Cadillac BY ALISA PRIDDLE, June 2007 | Link to Original Article @ Car & Driver Much ado was made of the fact General Motors Corporation had two design studios competing on the design of the Chevy Camaro. Four teams participated in a “spirited design competition” for the important entry-level Cadillac. The contenders included the Advanced Design Center in California; the main design center in Warren, Michigan; a second adv…

Is it feasible to create a sort of "electrochromatic" adjustable tint for all the windows of a car? I noticed the new Ferrari Superamerica has this feature for the roof panel and thought about how cool it would be to be able to dictate how dark or light the windows get. I'm guessing it would be an expensive item to create, but maybe we'll see this on the ULS. I've looked at the new S Class, which is being praised for it's rather boring innovations. Where are the real innovations though?

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com October 24, 2012 If you have been reading any of the comparison tests of the new Cadillac ATS and the competition, you would have notice a reoccurring complaint; the six-speed manual transmission stinks. Apparently Cadillac is taking those criticisms to heart. A source tells Motor Trend that Cadillac has stopped production of ATSs equipped with the six-speed manual to fix complaints of the six-speed being awful. The fix involves moving to a softer bushing setup in the transmission. The fix will will be made before any cars equipped with the manual make it into the hands of consumers, meaning no recall. Cadillac BLS By Andrew Frankel of The Sunday Times It's a Yank tank with a secret There is a delicious reality gap between the way this new Cadillac BLS is being presented and the reasons for its existence. Ask at Cadillac and you’ll be told this is “a brave new product” for those who “dare to be different”. As it goes on sale in Europe it will be accompanied by a slogan stating that it’s “more than a car, it’s a Cadillac”. This, of course, is cobblers. It’s not a Cadillac at all, unless you choose to call a reskinned Saab 9-3 built at Saab’s Trollhattan factory a Cadillac. It exists because Saabs aren’t selling as they should, leading to spare capacity at the factor…

I'm not sure how many of what color Escalades you guys are seeing, but thus far, all that I've spotted on the road have been black, dark grey, or dark red. When the local Cadillac dealer got in its first 4 'Slades, there were two black and two dark grey, and all were gone within probably two weeks. Now, they've had the same 3 white and 1 gold Escalade sitting there for going on 4 weeks. Are the lighter color Escalades not as popular because they don't show off the chromy bits as well? Anyone else noticed this trend?

Kudos: Cadillac CTS Named Top Safety Pick by Insurance Group ARLINGTON, Virginia — Cadillac's redesigned 2008 CTS on Wednesday earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's Top Safety Pick award for 2008. Other winners in the category of "large luxury cars" include the Audi A6 and the Volvo S80. This means the trio earned the highest rating of "good" in the Institute's front, side and rear tests and are equipped with electronic stability control. The news is especially heartening for Cadillac. The 2003-'07 CTS was rated "poor" for rear crash protection. GM redesigned the seats in the 2008 CTS to earn a better rating. The seats are standard in CTS models bu…

Cadillac released teaser images today of the upcoming 2026 Cadillac OPTIQ-V. Fast on the heals of the Cadillac LYRIQ-V released earlier this year, Cadillac promises an even faster and more nimble version of its small crossover EV entry. Already sporting 300 horsepower, the Cadillac OPTIQ-V is poised to become the quickest compact crossover EV on the market. Cadillac engineers have reconfigured the suspension and tightened the steering for a more dynamic feel. For now we can only speculate about power output, but Cadillac will have more information about the 2026 Cadillac OPTIQ-V later this year. View full article

Cadillac's XT5 is getting a refresh for 2020 that brings it into alignment with the looks of the rest of the brand like the recently introduced CT4 and CT5. The base trim for XT5 is the Luxury model. General Motors has recently been in the habit of releasing vehicles in China before bringing them to the U.S. Buick released the Envista in China back in September of 2022 but waited until just a few weeks ago to announce the Envista for the U.S. Similar patterns have happened with the Cadillac XT4 and Buick Encore GX. We suspect the same thing is happening here with the Cadillac GT4 that debuted Monday in China. What is it? The Cadillac GT4 is essentially a slightly fastback version of the Cadillac XT4. While decidedly less "coupe" shaped than the Buick Envista, the GT4 stretches the vehicle's look and gives it a more low-slung side profile. The interior …

It was their Sept. 22nd episode and during an interview with one of the GM employees, I noticed a picture behind her of what appeared to be some type of Cadillac. I went on cadillac.com and it doesnt look like anything there. Furthermore, it looks somewhat like a truck. Hmm.......well take a look for yourselves. It is on the left side of the lady's head. Also, I had to take a digital photo of the computer screen, because screen shots wont work with movies or something. Finally, I know this is probably not it, but it is worth a shot in any case. I wanted to round up a few different thoughts and rumors about the new CTS under one topic. It has been disucussed in various posts but not all at once, so here it goes... Is the new CTS being realigned with the BMW 5 series? The price has gone up in the new generation but it still drastically undercuts the 5er. The size of the cars are almost identicle. I'd say with the 3.6 pfi and CTS compares very favoriably with the new 528. The 3.6 DI is only about .2 slower to 60 than the 535 so there is a good competitor for that car. What there isn't right now is a non V series v8 option to combat the 550. I've heard and read rumors that the new dohc ultra v8 …

Cadillac will sell a diesel version of its new CTS medium-premium sedan in Europe Link to Original Article @ Automotive News But the diesel won't be available immediately. "We expect at least 50 percent of CTS sales to be diesels," said Braakhekke, Cadillac Europe spokesman. Without being more specific, he said the diesel would come during the early part of the model's life cycle. Company sources say Italian engine manufacturer VM Motori will supply the CTS with a 3.0-liter, V-6 diesel with about 245hp. Cadillac needs to offer diesels to be more competitive against with German premium brands. About 70 percent of Audi's unit sales in Europe are diesels. For BMW t…

So, how is this for unusual. The Cadillac SRX has won Car and Drivers Luxury Sport Utility of the year for the 3rd consecutive year. How odd is that. The magazine that has been accused of being anti-domestic for years gives the award to the SRX. And instead of the SRX being a market success it is wallowing around on dealer lots, not coming anywhere near hoped for sales predictions. It seems GM just can't seem to win for trying.

With all the talk of GM division crossover, I've always said that Cadillac wouldn't have to worry about the likes of Buick stepping on their heels if they were aiming at the right competitors. Apparently one of their should be competitors is feeling the heat from the new CTS, their new baby car sure looks a lot like it in design characteristics. You can bet that the interior of this will be a level for Cadillac to envy though. Link To Leftlane Article

The Cadillac ELR is a beautiful car. It almost begs for a performance focused version -- something with Performance as first priority and Fuel Economy as a secondary but amicable goal. The other two vehicles, which are still scheduled to go into production this year, are the 2010 Cadillac CTS Wagon and 2010 Cadillac SRX crossover. By MARTON PETTENDY 22 January 2009 GM HOLDEN today postponed the Australian reintroduction of General Motors’ flagship Cadillac brand for the second time – this time indefinitely. Company chairman and managing director Mark Reuss made the announcement this afternoon, citing an inability to do justice to the troubled US car-maker’s flagship luxury marque in the current economic climate. “It’s a tough announcement for me and the Holden team here today, but we’ve made the decision and direction in the last week or so that we’re going to indefinitely delay the Cadillac introduction to Australia,” he said. “We only really had one chance to launch the brand here in Aust…

The past year has seen autonomous vehicles making headlines with a number of technology companies such as Google and Apple working on their own vehicles. But Cadillac CEO Johan de Nysschen says autonomous vehicles shouldn't take away the act of driving to those who enjoy it. “Autonomous driving and driving passion must co-exist,” de Nysschen said to a group at the 10th annual J.D Power Automotive Marketing Roundtable in Las Vegas last week. “We’re after balance.” Standing in front of a picture of Google's autonomous prototype, de Nysschen said, “Many autonomous car (prototypes) emphasize sheer functionality. It would be a mind-numbing experience going from poi…

The last time we saw spy photos of the 2013 Cadillac SRX, it was covered in camouflage and there was talk of a plug-in hybrid version. Fast forward to today and new spy shots show the 2013 SRX with no camouflage and no plug-in hybrid. Our spy shots show the SRX getting a modest update, with the front end getting a new grill and fascia. The SRX will also sport a new interior, with a capacitive-touch center stack, much like the one on the new XTS. And if you're wonder what happened to the plug-in hybr…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com April 29, 2013 Oh to be a fly on the wall during this meeting. Automotive News reports that at a at a national dealer meeting in Las Vegas last month, General Motors introduced the new ATS Coupe and 2015 Escalade. As we reported last week, Cadillac has begun to work on the ATS Coupe. Dealers who were at the meeting say coupe is expected to reach showrooms next spring. Dealers also said that executives hope the new coupe will help bring in a younger crowd. Cadillac is keeping quiet on the powertrain lineup, but Automotive News guesses that ATS Coupe will have the same powertrain lineup as the ATS Sedan. As for the 201…

Cadillac CTS-V gets 4WD, but no UK visa? 02 November 2007 | Link to Original @ AutoCar An all new four-wheel drive, Corvette Z06-engined, BMW M5-baiting Cadillac CTS-V will become the flagship of the re-launched US brand’s line-up next year - but Autocar has learned that US bosses have yet to approve the car for right-hand drive production. The snorting 500bhp CTS, previewed by the CTS Sport concept shown at this week's SEMA show in Las Vegas, is still under development in the US. Over there bosses remain unconvinced of the financial case for exporting the super saloon to the UK, despite Cadillac bosses here fighting for the car to be imported as hard as they can. U…

Finally Cadillac, has leadership that inspires confidence. I love it. Despite the constant berating of the detractors, Johan is seemingly pushing forth. Despite the actual desire of some for Cadillac to bow down to the Germans and except a place under them we have a foreign born leader saying "No.. We will rise back to our lofty position on TOP." It is impossible to compare ATS sales to 3series sales unless the variances of both are at least 80% the same. These type of things are only reserved for Cadillac though.. and never brands such as Audi or Jag. It is funny when U think about those two, as both are currently in a similar sales fashion as Cadillac, with one of the…

Today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Cadillac unveiled the refreshed Cadillac CT5 sedan. CT5 retail sales have been on an upswing of late, increasing over 35%. In a time when sedan sales are stagnating or disappearing entirely, Cadillac's positive numbers have given hope that the luxury sedan market isn't quite dead yet. The refresh of the CT5 begins with the exterior. A new larger, bolder grille is flanked by new vertically stacked headlamps and Cadillac's signature fangs. The LED light clusters feature an animated startup sequence that "celebrates" you as you approach the car. Two new exterior colors are available; Deep Space Metallic…

http://autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?...08&Profile=1004 To sum it up, they love it. Here is a cut to the gripes. Where the Cadillac STS-V falls short is on the inside: its feels as though the materials are done on the cheap. I don’t know if it is the choice of black zebrano-like wood, if it is the quality of the plastic, if it has to do with the light-colored leatherette material. But it just doesn’t work. That’s the only gripe. The question remains: Will people step up and spend the kind of money this car is asking, even though number for number, and dollar for dollar it would be well spent? If they don’t at least consider the Cadillac STS-V, they’re doing t…

Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen is trying to sell Cadillac's lowest-volume dealers (selling 50 or less models in a year) on transitioning to a virtual showroom. Automotive News says de Nysschen outlined this concept to dealers last week during national brand meetings in Southern California. The concept involves a dealer going to a concierge-style approach where salespeople would visit prospective buyers either at home or work, equipped with a touchscreen device with vehicle configuration or virtual-reality units. Dealers who go with this concept will also not stock Cadillac vehicles. Instead, orders would be coming from regional inventory center. de Nysschen …

The following was published by Cadillac in a print advertisement circa 1915 in response to a Packard advertisement crticial of Cadillac. I believe it still applies. The Penalty of Leadership "In every field of human endeavor, he that is first must perpetually live in the white light of publicity. Whether the leadership be vested in a man or in a manufactured product, emulation and envy are ever at work. In art, in literature, in music, in industry, the reward and the punishment are always the same. The reward is widespread recognition; the punishment, fierce denial and detraction. GM Kills The SRX Plug-In Hybrid.. For Now... William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com June 1, 2011 For the past few months, the rumors of a SRX Plug-In Hybrid have been making the rounds. Using technology from the Chevrolet Volt, the SRX Plug-In Hybrid was expected to go on sale within a couple of years. Now, Reuters is reporting the SRX Plug-In Hybrid has been put out to pasture. Sources at GM said by the time the SRX PHEV was ready for production, the Theta platform would be at the end of it's life cycle, adding to the cost of the vehicle. This is the third time GM has canned some sort of PHEV project over the past few years. Reuters sugges…

It has been awhile since we have heard anything on Cadillac's powertrain plans. But CEO Johan de Nysschen was in a talkative mood about it and Car and Driver was there to catch it. First is a V8 coming the CT6. The V8 will be a 4.2L and feature twin-turbos. This engine isn't based on GM's small-block architecture. The 4.2L displacement is interesting as competitors - mostly Germans - only go up to 4.0L to avoid Chinese taxes on high-displacement engines. Cadillac doesn't expect to sell many CT6s equipped with V8 in China, focusing more on the Plug-In Hybrid version for the market. Power is expected to be “in the upper 400s,” de Nysschen said. Car and Driver specul…

Cadillac today unveiled the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade V. This visual refresh brings the look of the Escalade in line with the forthcoming Cadillac Escalade IQ EV. The driver of this styling change is the move from horizontally oriented front-end lighting style to a verticle one. The verticle lighting style is a historic signature look that reemerged on the Cadillac Lyriq and the refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5. Included in the front end detail and inspired by the Cadillac Celestiq, the Cadillac crest is illuminated on all Escalade models, while V-Series and Premium Luxury Platinum trims receive an illuminated grill surround. Formula One Management has accepted GM's bid to be part of the league so Cadillac becomes the 11th team to be on the grid for 2026. Cadillac will partner up with TWG Global which owns Andretti Racing and Wayne Taylor Racing. It looks like Mario will be in charge as director of the team's board rather than his son Michael. Formula One had a problem with Michael. Cadillac for now will be using another manufacturer's engine. No word yet on who but rumors abound that it will not be Alpine/Renault as it was the first time around but Ferrari. I guess Ferrari was smitten when Chevrolet said that a Ferrai 458 and especially its engine was an inspiration for the Corvet…

Anyone know what the difference between the standard traction control and stabilitrack is? This is what the cadillac web site says about the standard traction control "CTS comes standard with a sophisticated traction control system. It detects when a wheel is losing traction and applies a precise amount of brake pressure to the wheel until traction is regained. If slippage continues, engine speed is slowed until traction is regained." Is this the first gen stabilitrack? It sounds as if when skidding, it will apply the brake of one wheel, or more if needed. Anyone know about this?

Cadillac was one of the first brands to launch a subscription service. Called Book, the service allowed users to access Cadillac's lineup including the Escalade and CTS-V for a monthly fee. But only a year after it launched the program, General Motors is pulling the plug. The Wall Street Journal broke the news this afternoon, learning from sources that the company will end operations of Book by the end of the year. Subscribers will have a 30-day window from the time they notified to turn in their vehicles. A GM spokesman confirmed the closure. According to sources, certain aspects of Book proved to be quite costly. A key example was some of the back-end technolo…
