http://news.aol.com/article/man-with-0-lic...ticketed/530597 (June 17) -- Tom Feddor racked up 170 parking ticket notices in the last two years -- but his car was not even present at the scenes of the alleged infractions. Skip over this content Feddor is not a rogue city driver. He's the holder of a unique license plate number that became the target of a Chicago Department of Revenue glitch, the Chicago Tribune reported. It turns out parking attendants had been using the number 0 as a test case for new electronic ticketing devices. They had no idea that 0 was an actual assigned plate number nor that it belonged to Feddor and that he was receiving the phony tickets…

I seriously could not stop laughing from some of the reader comments afterwards...... You have to get that Minnesotans pick fun about how WI residents are among if not the most intoxicated in our nation, and so many of these stories come up. http://www.startribune.com/local/33210424.html again, the comments are HILARIOUS

So, it's been a week or so since I washed the Balt. So today it went to the car wash. While drying it, I noticed something: It's bubbling up rust at the bottom of the driver's side door! The Balt is not even 4 years old yet! WTF? To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. I mean, it could just be a fluke, but still....... I'm taking it to the dealership to see if anything can be done.... Man....

Guys, Although I love Civil Engineering, I cannot see myself doing it for the rest of my life. Not that I do not like it, it just makes me feel I am being too specific. I am planning to move into Management Consulting. My current firm is a Civil Consulting firm, so the rigors of Consulting are not unfamiliar to me. The reasons for going into Management Consulting are: 1. I want to get experience in a variety of fields and management consultants "advice" people in different industries. 2. I love to travel and do not mind the hectic life of moving from one tent to another while working in the process. 3. One thing that really drove me to it was McKinsey's foray in…

Missing centenarians cause angst in aging Japan Japan prides itself on the world's longest life expectancy but is struggling with a disturbing footnote to that statistic - revelations that hundreds of people listed as its oldest citizens are either long dead or haven't been heard from for decades. The mystery of the missing centenarians has captured the attention of this rapidly graying nation with reports of scamming relatives and overworked social workers and sad tales of old people, isolated and forgotten, simply slipping out of touch with society. The story unfolded in late July when police discovered that Sogen Kato, who would have been 111 and was thought to be T…

* I love "March Madness", the NCAA basketball tournament. I enjoy watching the games, particularly the close ones, witnessing the comebacks, being stunned by the shockers. I'm not exactly sure what the attraction is (perhaps the part of me that loves timelines?), but I'm addicted to watching the brackets as teams advance & others are eliminated. So, with "March Madness", the "Monte" edition "BRACKETS".... Kicking this month off with a commercial spotting at the gym. Why GM is missing the beat with marketing. Awesome Toyota commercial, they do not have an EV out yet, they admit it as they say EVs today are a great commuter auto. Then they do this: Wanna go places? Check out the biggest lineup of Hybrid auto's. They review all of them and end with their tag "Let's go places" Well done Toyota.

Didn't see one, so I'm starting one.. Saw one of the new '15 Ford F150s on the road or the first time today...silver crew cab, temporary plate...looks like someone really broke in their new truck--was splattered w/ mud and had lots of dents in the aluminum body panels.. also saw a derelict 70s Chevy LUV in a restaurant parking lot--had been red I think at one time, paint was faded to flat orangish..not one panel was straight, nose was crunched in, doors dented, bed sides mashed down..but still in use. Was a 2 round headlight version, I remember seeing them w/ 4 round lights..

I was just on the western cruise on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Mariner of the Seas. This was my 2nd time on this ship, as well as my second cruise, and I had a blast, what with the amazing shows/performances, entertainment, appearence, crew, ect. Has anyone been on this ship before? To give further details, it has a miniature golf course, basketball area, rock climbing wall, five-story theater, ice-skating rink, three-four pools, four+ hot tubs,........ I went to Labadee, Haiti (Royal Caribbean's private island). My excursions were the AquaPark and the Waverunner tour. Somehow I stumbled on this one. Yep, same guy who went toxic on the camaro. the subject matter is a little more popular to folks here. Honestly though, its not even the subject matter in this article or whether you care or whatever. This guy is such a foul writer. This is not journalism, this is just someone going off. How many therapists does this asshole have? Whatever he writes about seems to be toxic to read. All he seems to do is have a snit with the pen. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...notes041009.DTL

Don't get me wrong. Not that I couldn't see the pics and now I'm posting this. Could the pics be leaked intentionally by GM? From a marketing point of view, it's very clever indeed. Leak the picks, then taking them down immediately, bluffing legal action. Gets people thinking, speculating, etc, etc. Just think of all the hype it's getting now. At least it got everybody and a lot of forum talking and stuff. Also serves the effect of a marketing survey. GM gets the valuable information that people DO want a Camaro. I could be wrong though.

I'm in DC all this week. I arrived on Sunday. In the two and a half days I've been here I've seen 6 new Toyota Avalon taxi cabs in black or beige just in the small 10 block radius I'm staying. They haven't been beat to hell and back...... yet......but I wonder how they'll hold up over time. Interestingly, DC must not have the age or mileage laws for Taxi cabs as NYC because I have seen a number of B-body wagons from all 3 divisions that made them still chugging about. On my way back from lunch, I was passed by a Custom Bruiser in surprisingly good condition for any 14 year old car, much less a cab.

BALTIMORE - Maryland’s highest court on Tuesday upheld a state law defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman, ending a lawsuit filed by same-sex couples who claimed they were being denied equal protection under the law. Maryland’s 1973 ban on gay marriage does not discriminate on the basis of gender and does not deny any fundamental rights, the Court of Appeals ruled in a 4-3 decision. It also said the state has a legitimate interest in promoting opposite-sex marriage. Link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20839946/

Not that I'd ever try to out run a State Trooper since a radio is quicker than any car but a Charger Statie is much more intimidating than a Crown Vic wiht a 4.6 Mod motor. Ford needs to redesign the Crown Vic. Keep it BOF, RWD & V8 obviously but put in the 5.4 so it does 0-60 in less than like 8 sec. otherwise these Dodges will eat up a good portion of the Interceptor Ford's sales. This thing is SICK looking in the Mass Navy-Blue & Battleship Gray combo.

Jordan Haskins is not going quietly into the night. After some soul-searching, the Saginaw native busted multiple times for breaking into government vehicles and masturbating inside them is re-entering the race to fill a state House seat. Haskins, a 24-year-old Republican, entered the race to become a Michigan state representative to fill a state seat, but his arrest record for numerous "cranking" incidents came to the surface immediately after he put his name in the hat. Let's revisit what cranking is: "Jordan would remove the spark plug wires and sit in the car and masturbate while the motor was sparking and making noises," the police report states. …

LAS VEGAS - Japanese electronics conglomerate Matsu$h!a Electric Industrial on Monday introduced a 150-inch plasma television, which it says is the world's biggest. The new TV boasts four times better resolution than full high-definition 1080p picture quality and offers a screen the size of nine 50-inch plasma televisions. It was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas by Toshihiro Sakamoto, president of Panasonic AVC Networks. Matsu$h!a's new screen, at 12-1/2 feet when measured diagonally, tops the Panasonic brand maker's 103-inch plasma TV released last year. The 103-inch television has sold 3,000 units over the la…

I was looking forward to Easter weekend to go up to my Mom's in Portland to be "pampered" a little bit. At any rate, I "turn in" in the downstair's bedroom (the guest room) where my Dad spent his last years so he didn't have to do the stairs and couldn't fall asleep! The damn mattress was ridiculously FIRM. My own mattress is somewhat firm, but it softens up nicely to adjust to body contours and the shifting of your weight. (Nothing special, just a $ 450 set). That right amount of sponginess, together with flannel sheets, and I'm asleep in 5 to 10 minutes as if I was under anesthesia. So, the mattress in my Mom's guest room screwed up my Easter weekend. What typ…

Belated Happy May Day Everyone. An interesting observation as I did a lunch workout at my 24hr club and then stopped at Costco to do the wives ToDo list. When I came back out, I saw 4 VWQ ID4 and 2 ID5 EVs, then a Tesla S and X as well as a Y and I have to say seeing all 3 side by side the 3 is very cheap and looks even more dated than the S and X, but all three look very dated compared to the VW ID's. Then there was 3 R1T and 1 R1S from Rivian. WOW those are sharp EVs, then a couple of Bolts and a Bolt EUV. Then there was my Escalade, a half a dozen Dodge chargers and a lone Challenger and then a bunch of older 300Cs, Impala and a mix of asian econo box cars. …

Rain and mud, rain and mud, rain and mud. Now getting some warm sunny weather. 3-4 days a week I'm down at my mud farm working to clean up, clean out, and get my stuff out of the muck in preparation to unload it all. My sister and I have been able to find a fair number of old family photos and mementos. Now that it's warmer and dryer, I've been trying to get my late brother's vehicles up and running, so far no luck on getting most to start. Bought a few batteries, been trying to charge up others. Did get the '09 Ranger running and outside. I've found the keys to over half of them, got a locksmith to make keys for more last week. He couldn't key two of the mo…

Jet...agricultural...biplane... Good for a whole 100mph. The plane it was designed to replace was a 1946-vintage prop biplane (the AN-2) that is still being used today. The same people who built that (PZL) built this... ...a twin-engine bomber leftover from an airliner proposal built so poorly the Polish national airline rejected it. It was also made of so many different materials that it split apart in midair on a demonstration flight carrying prospective Romainian buyers. The 'improved' version had a new tail design so heavy it couldn't carry bombs and gear retractors so weak it flew with the wheels down. And it crashed, too. They also built this... ...which …

http://www.nationalpost.com/news/world/env....html?id=525590 You may have heard earlier this month that global warming is now likely to take a break for a decade or more. There will be no more warming until 2015, perhaps later. Climate scientist Noel Keenlyside, leading a team from Germany's Leibniz Institute of Marine Science and the Max Planck Institute of Meteorology, for the first time entered verifiable data on ocean circulation cycles into one of the U. N.'s climate supercomputers, and the machine spit out a projection that there will be no more warming for the foreseeable future. Of course, Mr. Keenlyside-- long a defender of the man-made global warming theor…

Mazda and BMW Promise Hydrogen Cars by 2008 Date posted: 03-24-2006 DETROIT — Mazda has delivered the first two hydrogen-powered RX-8s to corporate customers in Japan, while BMW has confirmed plans to bring a hydrogen-powered 7 Series to market within two years. Mazda showed a hydrogen-powered rotary engine in the RX-8 last fall at the Tokyo Motor Show, and the company, in fact, has been working on such engines for nearly 20 years. The two recent test cars were leased to Idemitsu Kosan in Tokyo and Iwatani International in Osaka, both participants in the government-sanctioned Japan Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Demonstration Project. At a charity event yesterday, Both Obama and McCain gave comedic speeches intended to poke fun at each other and themselves. Interspersed in the speeches were moments of seriousness without the political rancor that poisons most of the things they have been saying lately. It was a breath of fresh air. Obama did a nice job and had some great lines. But McCain killed! He was so funny that not only was I laughing out loud, but so was Obama. Hillary Clinton damn near fell out of her chair - I have never seen her smile so much. The mostly Democratic crowd was roaring. And, in the moments of seriousness, McCain displayed the graciousness and humility that makes him one …

As a timberwolves fan each year it is becoming more and more hilarious how we draft others superstars and trade them away like toddler clothes you give away to the second hand store for a dollar. RAY ALLEN BRANDON ROY (roy=rookie of the year) now this year McFail gives away a promising OJ Mayo and also Chalmers. the level of humor with his deals get worse each year. How in the HELL can we get rid of him? and then trading Garnett too? my gosh.

G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com McLaren F1 or Non Supercar, What is YOUR Choice? Road & Track pen'd a story about eight non-supercars with more power than a McLaren F1. Given the fact that many pay crazy amounts of money for a limited production run auto that seems to have a limited HP in relation to OEM production runs of normal models, one must ask: Is a Supercar that Super anymore? Here is the list of the 8 cars R&T have listed that they think is way better than a McLaren F1. Listed Low to High in the HP rating. Bentley Continental GT 633HP Chevy Corvette ZR1 638HP Cadillac CTS-V 640HP …

Hola! Figured I've tell about recent events in my life. Yay, I feel like Cory. Cell Phone The prelude to this story is that when I got this phone, (previously used by my sister because I dropped my old phone in coolant so she was "rewarded" the new phone and I received hers) there was 1 of the 4 screws that hold the front of the phone to the back together. Well, today at work I was unwrapping a pallet of items (it's always wrapped in saran wrap type stuff) when the saran wrap got tangled onto my phone without me noticing. Well, I pulled the saran a little harder because it was stuck on the pallet and my phone falls out of my pocket. So I pick it up and the front of it …

happens with humans too. it's just that you have to take the woman to the steakhouse, pay a big bill, and leave a tip. the monkeys just bring the meat. so to speak (rim shot). all in all, meat for sex. fair trade i'd say. a lot cheaper dowry than a 4 bedroom suburban house and a crossover SUV in the garage, and a constant show of emotional support. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7988169.stm

I posted back in March about a possible surgery to repair an incisional hernia (above my belly button) that developed from my 2003 open heart surgery and made itself known in September 2008 at the NMCOA Mini Meet in Stillman Valley IL and then even more so in mid-February 2009. In March, I had decided to NOT get it repaired, since it was, according to the surgeon, small. However ... as some of you know ... that hernia had started to act up a bit more regularly the last few months (once, while I was visiting friends in Freeport IL in April) ... and with "car" and "road trip" season here, I decided enough was enough. So, Thursday, May 28, 2009, the incisional hernia was…

Within the last few weeks, I've received communication (to put it mildly) from the local hospital that did the surgery to remove my gallbladder IN 2005. The first letter I received indicated that they had sent my bill to a collection agency for failure to pay. I combed through all of my medical bills/records ... and found NO EOB from my then insurance company, nor did I find any bills/communication from the hospital. So, I called and told them that I wanted an itemized bill. "It's on the way", so I was told. Then, the week I was at home after the pacemaker replacement surgery, I received ANOTHER letter from them. This time, it indicated that they "had not been able …

The internet is a vast and interesting place, a new frontier in and of itself with plenty of dark and obscure corners begging to be explored. Some take some digging to reach, others can be stumbled upon simply by running a Google search for whatever trivial topic pops into your mind. The following sketches of a few interesting GM cars and concepts were found using the latter method. These designs were all done by industrial designer Jess Bailie, who was the lead designer for the Buick Verano at GM. He also played a major role in influencing the design of the upcoming Buick Encore/Opel Mokka, as well as the Cadillac XTS and Hummer HX concept vehicles. The following images…

I'm bored. And tired. Bored and tired. What to do? How about type what's on mee mind, eh? First, the weekend sucked. I was hoping to do something... have someone over. But nope... didn't happen. However.. I never mentioned this publicly... but the night before, I finally met another gay guy. Thanks to XY.com and how I finally downloaded an IM (gaim... which supports aim, yahoo, msn, etc.). So... yeah, been chatting with gay guys alot, haha. Well... as I was chatting with the one... we were both bored. We joked around about him driving down here... well, eventually it become reality. I went to Ohio for the holiday weekend to visit family...hot and humid (felt more like July weather than May!), lots of sun, some heavy thunderstorms. Some highlights-- I really liked my '07 Mercury Grand Marquis GS rental from Hertz... it was a lot of fun driving a V8, RWD, BOF old-school American land yacht...both on I-70/I-77 and on eastern Ohio's fantastic smooth, low-traffic winding hilly backroads (state routes and county roads around the Amish country of my youth)... it handled better than I thought it would on the rolling, twisty roads... (At the rental car counter, the guy tried to persuade me to take a Montego or Five Hundred, but I had specifically rese…

Its the official start of summer, well for me at least, I dont work Fridays, so its time to hit the beaches, lakes, rivers, whatever else you want to hit. We're going to St. Louis tomorrow to see the dinosaur exhibit at the zoo. Then Sunday is apparently river enjoyment day, its going to involve canoes and kayaks and possibly other floating craft. No plan for Monday. Anyone else have anything planned?

This week, I wasn't able to attend the memorial service of an elderly woman I've known since 1978 ... when my grandparents moved to Batavia IL so my grandfather could pastor a church there. And, in a way, I'm glad I didn't go. Back in 1987, when my then best friend died, I was all about the memorial service. I felt the need to BE there ... and, I was. It was awesome hearing people talk about him ... and hearing stories about him that, sadly, I didn't know. I even found out that he didn't want me to know how bad his asthma was ... because of my own health issues. But, since then ... and especially in the last few years ... I've grown to dislike and not want to attend…

It's sometimes ironic what will trigger a memory. On Halloween, I went with my sister, nephew and friends to watch the kids trick or treat. One of the houses we visited was the one in which my grandparents lived during their "retirement years". Standing in front of it, I "flashed back" to scenes from Halloweens long ago of my sister, our cousins and me as kids eager to show Gram and Gramps our costumes ... and, of course, to get candy. As we walked away from the house and walked past the driveway and the telephone poll that damaged my 1981 Monte Carlo Sport Coupe, I caught a glimpse of the garage behind the house ... and almost immediately flashed back to a few "uncoo…

I dont know how many here are into winter sports or at least watching them. I'm not much on sports but downhill ski racing has always been on my list. The legs become the ultimate shock absorbers, the fine edge of the ski carves the perfect arch, the knees and hips all but touching the surface as the body leans and fights the lateral g's to keep those edges at the perfect angle. 85+mph on your feet against a mountain and ice...... the ultimate adreneline rush. The Olympics are on !
