First, this is a small town rural area, so this stuff is not just another day. Thursday after school, a 12 year old boy was killed when a 22 calibor gun his 13 year old brother had, discharged. No one knows the details. this stuff horrifies me. I just cant imagine what the older boys head condition could possibly be in. This was up the county road another 3 miles from where our town road meets it. My daughter is in school with their 17 year old son. A divorced family of four boys I guess, moved up here recently, living with their father. The family has left town, cant blame them. The news people were like flies on $h! Friday. If I was the Father and had…

It's only for a week, but she has to travel to Kansas from here (MA) to put her stuff in storage since she broke the lease to her apartment. We had her car's oil changed and looked at, seems ok...but this is deffinitely one of those times I hope Toyota's quality is as good as they say. It hurts like hell that I can't go with her because of school and mid-terms...and it may be a week but I miss her already...it's our first time apart since May. It was a teary goodbye. If it's not too much trouble just wish her luck and a safe trip, it'd me a lot to me...thanks.

We've been all over various forms of hard rock, but we all have soft sides somewhere in our evil little hearts, right? As much as I listen to some of the hardest rock out there, I also love a good emotionally driven slow song, rock or otherwise. What about you? Right now, I am loving this song. It's one of the best I've heard.

All 2000 Intrepids are created equal, but some are more equal than others. This is a lesson in the importance of keeping your car clean, especially the undercarriage, especially during the winter. This is actually a neighbor's Intrepid. It's got 150k on it, 3.2. It came into the shop next door for the crank sensor and an idle pulley it desperately needs. While on the lift I took a peek at how it's holding up... That, my friends, would be carpet. That's a really big hole in the floor. Not good. Contrast with my car which has 209k on it and has seen its share of winters but gets washed religiously. I swear the stuff they are using on the roads in NE has gotte…

This is really cool, or so says I...a 1970 Chevy K20 powered by the 292 inline six! What a torquer. When I was still farming with my dad, we had a '70 K20, but ours had the 350 V8 and auto trans. It had great scoot but I always wanted the big six. It seemed so "trucky".

Within the last few weeks, I've received communication (to put it mildly) from the local hospital that did the surgery to remove my gallbladder IN 2005. The first letter I received indicated that they had sent my bill to a collection agency for failure to pay. I combed through all of my medical bills/records ... and found NO EOB from my then insurance company, nor did I find any bills/communication from the hospital. So, I called and told them that I wanted an itemized bill. "It's on the way", so I was told. Then, the week I was at home after the pacemaker replacement surgery, I received ANOTHER letter from them. This time, it indicated that they "had not been able …

Thunderbird should of had more power but a very nice car. SSR Too slow and pricey but again very nice car. A dream on the back roads. The GTO sorta but it still sold. Theres a bunch out there but these are the top 3 in my book.

Yesterday, I finally began work on the electra. I started by sanding down all of the rust on the passenger side and spraying it with semi flat white auto enamel. Today, im going to continue doing that u tillall of the rust is gone. Then im going to use body filler to fill in the dings, small dents, and a few holes i discovered. then im going to repaint. Finally, its going to the paintshop for a new coat of paint. As, money flow increases, the nasty rear quarter damage will get removed. After the exterior, theres only a few mechanical things to get done. The interior just needs a headliner.

If you have a decision (major or minor doesn't matter) that you need to make and you've done all of the "pros and cons" lists, etc. ... and still neither side jumps out as the "better" decision ... how do decide? What do you DO to decide? Yeah, I know "give it time" is one answer ... but, what if you feel that you don't have much time to decide? Notice I indicated "better" decision ... as opposed to the "right" decision. Many times a "right" decision doesn't really exist. Even "better" doesn't cut it, because what is "better" for you in your eyes may not be what really IS "better" for you...if that makes any sense. *sighs* Yes, I'm being cryptic and not making much…

Hmm....debating on what I want to do here. I have an 03 Cavalier with a month or two before it is paid off. I'm up in the air about what I want to do here...Whether I should keep it fully covered, or drop it to basic coverage.... On one hand, it is only about 4.5 years old, and in good shape. On the other hand, Cavaliers in general are not worth much (they were giving them away those last few years there..) I can take the money saved for a new car, or if by chance it does get totalled, we could just buy a new one.... What would you do? Normally I wouldn't think about this (car isn't that old yet), but when I see Cavs in good shape going for 5995, that kinda …

So this past weekend I finally got to experience the whole "Uber" thing and to put it simply, it's awesome. The gf and I met at a friends apartment in STL(Soulard area for anybody who may have been this way before or Frisky because he is in the area) and then we all needed to get to where we were meeting more friends to eat. Simply put, the parking is atrocious where we were heading or it would be fairly easy if you were willing to walk a mile.. no thanks. Our friends who live in the area go to bars and Uber all of the time so they're used to it. It's actually crazy how simple it is. Step 1: Open app Step 2: Choose destination(and pickup but it has a map and a little d…

In this edition you will pick 5 cars born without a VIN. Can be anything from a Sand rail powered by an air cooled VW motor to a top fuel dragster. Most kit cars would qualify, as would most brass era cars from the early days of motoring. You could pick something interesting like a vintage group B rally car, or a modern NASCAR stock car. Home built specials, engineering prototypes, factory concept cars, the sky is the limit. MSO from kit car maker is not considered a VIN in this thread. Eyes without a face.....cars without a VIN....what 5 cars will you pick? Factory 5 type 65 coupe, car #1. http://www.factoryfive.com/kits/type-65-c…

http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?arti...281474977067637 Got that in an e-mail this morning. How would we go about disproving a few of the broad, sweeping statements made; particularly the ones where American car manufacturers can't handle costs, blah blah blah. You can tell people facts all day long but they just jump up and down and point to back issues of Consumer Reports, so I need hard facts in black & white (newspaper articles, etc.) to forward this back to all the people it's gone to.

Reading this post by trinacriabob, it sparked me to think about my own problems. I just find it really hard to fit into my own age group now. Not that I'm incredibly smart or anything (in fact to be honest I'm more like the last in the class), but I find myself a bit more comfortable with people in different age groups. However, my best friend told me that relationships with older people are very "surficial" (not sure if this is the right word). No offense, but I find this somewhat true. It's really not like you can take things straight out of the heart and express yourself. It's just different. That sort of turned me off from hanging around older people. However, tryin…

With GM's recent search campain to find the longest lasting trucks on the road, but excluding cars and obviously other makes, it left some of us dissapointed. Obviously it's not the same, but I figured why not show off you're car's reliablity to your fellow C & G members? It's fun if nothing else. If at all possible, provide some pics of your car, including of the odometer. This qualifies mainly for cars that still run, and perferable still are owned by you, but if you have a past car with more miles than whatyou currently have, that is acceptible too Enjoy! I'll post my car tomorrow when I can take some pics (kinda dark right now, plus I'm going to bed). Fun idea.…

Well, My main 26" tv in the bedroom is about 14-15 years old and runs great, but we have no TV in the living room and the wife wants one, to get the kid out of the kitchen where our cheap 20" tv is. We have NO full height wall space in the living room, but we do have a pseudo mantel above the gas fireplace in the center of the wall. There is a wall with the window sill at 60" and room for a TV or cabinet below, buit its in the corner kind of. I originally though 1000 bucks would do it, now I'm not sure. Might take 2 grand. I'd like to try to get at least 37-40" atop the fireplace. Might have to settle for 32". Could go 50" proj TV if i go below the side windows. …

6 Overrated Cars By Thomas Bey Automotive Correspondent - Every other Friday We couldn't leave “not good enough” alone. We have dared to question the validity of the rank of several cars among their peers. The reputations of the vehicles, we felt, are greater than the actual products. Our views offended a few sensibilities, but we felt the story needed to be told. Think Friends on four wheels. Rides making our overrated list are based on any number of reasons, which means it can be performance or design related, or both. Either way, we'll tell you why. All vehicles listed are 2006 models... Link to article. 1 - BMW 3-Series Our beef: Price and misapplied prestige…

1988 BMW Dealership Time capsule For some twisted reason we're all attracted to the mysterious allure of an abandoned building. In Oakville, Ontario there stands a building that for a petrol head trumps even the eeriest of places. At only a stones throw away from our dealership in Ajax, Ontario we're surprised we haven't heard about this place before. The story goes as follows. In 1988 the dealer, located on Royal Windsor Drive and operating under the name "Citation Motors", had his concession license revoked due to unknown reasons. They then moved to Toronto under the name "Downtown BMW" which in 2002 closed up shop. The owner, apparently a well-of…

I got a car last week on Monday the 7th. It was a clean, blue 1993 Beretta GT auto with the 3.1 V6. It had one spot of rust that was only on the surface and it only had 165,000kms on it. I got it for $1200 as is. Now I would've posted pictures if my camera wasn't on the fritz. One problem now, on the way to get the car emission tested, my dad was driving up the street in our neighbourhood when our neighbour's 4Runner veered into his lane. The 4Runner (1998) hit my car while on the way to Canadian Tire. My dad tried to turn out of the way but it had snowed the night before and the rear of the Beretta just slid out and the 4Runner hit the driver side door and the rear quart…

Anyone else notice how we tend to associate certain smells with people and or places/things? Sometimes, those smells that smell good to us ... don't smell good to others ... and vice versa. Sometimes, the smell is equally displeasing or pleasing to everyone. Earlier today (Saturday), my sister noted how she loves the smell of her scarf ... because it smells like the home she and her husband own. I'm not so sure I agree with her assessment, but it is home to her.... For me, I associate newly-cut grass smells with awesome summers at home while I was a kid. I associate the smell of smoke with many bad experiences. And, of course, I love the smell of cars ... old and, …

Never Heard That Excuse A fellow bought a new Corvette and was out on an interstate for a nice evening drive. The top was down, the breeze was blowing through what was left of his hair, and he decided to open her up. As the needle jumped up to 80 mph he suddenly saw a flashing red and blue light behind him. "There ain't no way they can catch a Corvette," he thought to himself and opened her up further. The needle hit 90, 100, 130 and finally 150 with the light still behind him. "What the hell am I doing?" he finally thought and pulled over. The cop came up to him, took his license without a word, and examined it and the car. "I've had a tough shift and this is my last …

Interesting but in looking through the MSN auto section, they had this video by Inside Cars where they show some cool things like Tesla battery swap process, but better yet, is that Consumer Reports who has been Anti-American on Auto's supposedly just gave Ram Trucks the coveted Recommended Buy over Ford or Toyota Trucks. They also Recommend Chevy Impala as the best buy in America. http://video.msn.com?vid=59096624-a012-4c38-3f3e-8fa37f94c12f&mkt=en-us&src=CPSmall:shareBar:permalink:search_usage&from=cp^en-us So what do you think?

McDonald's ad made a meal of driving safety Christine Sams December 2, 2007 A McDONALD'S advertisement showing a carload of male teenagers ordering a drive-through meal is off the air after an investigation by an industry watchdog. The advertisement, which shows a P-plater who drives his friends to the fast food restaurant after getting his licence, will not be screened again following claims it promoted unsafe driving. After airing between November 4 and 12 it was investigated by the Advertising Standards Bureau. If I seem overly asshole-ish, it's because I'm what you would call struck in an emotional rut right now. I feel like I'm on the verge of a mental breakdown and it's killing me. I'm overly stressed and lacking anything to lift my spirit. Not to sound like a broken record, but my Bday is what really brought me down. Ever since, I feel like I've slipped back into depression. Last night, I was nearly in tears. I don't know why I can't shake this off like usual. I keep holding things in and no matter how hard I try, I can't release it, I can't move on. So much so that it aggravates me and I continue to be able to release it. I feel as if I'm just going to explode in a blast of…

This here pic is one I spliced together. The B&W shot to the left was taken in 1948, the color shot- this past weekend. I didn't notice either mark until I got home and downloaded my pics and compared them to the older shots, or I would have investigated it close up. It's the same location and the same stone block, right in the middle of nowhere. Kinda spooky- I could see if the fresh marks were in '48, but vice-versa; IDK. Must mean something.

Has anyone seen their new video? It's a cheeeeeezy ripoff of '80s metal band Sphincter... they are riding around in a 3rd gen Camaro at the beginning, with t-tops and rear glass removed so they can all jump around in the car and act like morons. Then they get to the concert, and there are more "white trash" metalheads outside. There is a 2nd gen Firebird, a '70s or '80s Silverado, and a '70s Corvette doing donuts. Also in this video is possibly the scariest woman I have ever seen, doing a "sexy" dance on the hood of a Fiero. Sorry about your eyes BV.

There's just no words.... I remember in my Integra days, when the stock wheels were all stolen and the car was left on bricks. Or when it was broken into downtown to steal some BS beat-up leather jacket (and a few of my mixtapes, which really hurt). Then after 4 years, when the car itself was stolen (with my backpack inside of it, which had my favorite sketchbook and a notebook full of ideas)...the two times that sandwiched the break-in had me angry that I couldn't hear a thing. Can't forget how the Pontiac was busted into for a crappy aftermarket stereo. I didn't care about the stereo, but did they have to tear my dash panel up? That's a rare &#…

I wonder how long it will take for the negative PR wheels to start turning on this one... BARKHAMSTED, Conn. -- Fire officials suspect an electric hybrid car may have sparked an overnight blaze in a garage in Barkhamsted on Center Hill Road. Homeowner Storm Connors and his wife, Dee, said they awoke to the sound of a smoke alarm around 4 a.m. The couple said they have lived in the home for nearly 40 years. They built it and raised their children there, so when the flames took over their attached garage Thursday morning, burning it down to its beams, the couple started to panic. They said they were worried they were going to lose their home and the memories inside. "I w…

Out with February, out with winter, out with the Challenger. I will not be seeking an immediate replacement. The used car market in my area is a non-stop barrage of overpriced and high-mileage junk. Yesterday's retail prices have become today's wholesale values. Four-grand will only buy you an unlovable, worn out sedan or SUV with near or at 200,000 miles, a mange-riddled paint job, an arthritic suspension, and a catatonic engine. If you're really lucky, four-grand more will buy you a cramped compact sedan with 70,000 miles that's been built out of pure tapioca and subjected to a previous life of hardcore prostitution. If by the grace of God a realistic deal comes your w…

Last night, a friend of mine was driving his VW Golf on Highway 20 going about 70 MPH when he reached down for a Gatorade bottle and ended up drifting onto the gravel shoulder. He tried to correct it but lost control and rolled into the ditch at least five times according to witnesses. He hadn't been drinking or anything. Luckily, he was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags went off. If you look at the roof on the passenger side, it's dented in pretty deep. Another friend of mine almost rode with him but had to change plans at the last minute. If he had ridden with him, he probably wouldn't be here today. Scary stuff. He ended up walking away from the scene with min…

I have no motivating holiday spirit this year, 2012 has gone down as a crappy year. But enough about that! Hopefully, December 25th will be everything you all want yours to be. Have a great one, and here's to a bigger, better 2013! *santa's sleigh gif*

I've started looking at options for my wife's next commuter car. Looking for some input on options I might not have thought of. She currently drives a '99 Saturn SC1. Requirements: - near or better than 40mpg highway - manual trans - 2000 or newer (newer preferred) - not a hybrid (we buy vehicles for long-term, I'm not interested in replacing a $5k+ battery one or twice in the timespan we expect to own the car) - reasonable to expect to be able to buy with under 50k miles for about $10k or less in a couple years Options so far: - Chevy Cruze Eco - Chevy Sonic - Chevy Spark - Ford Focus - Ford Fiesta

just saw this article on banshift.com and thought it was pretty cool. never knew gmc made a v12. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We know that these things are basically two V6 engines hitched together (in a common block) and that they are lazy and aren’t really all that hot rod-able. Used in firetrucks, big rigs, to run pumps, and other mundane applications, these behemoth engines made 275hp and 630 lb/ft at about 2,000 RPM when new and we think that they’re all kinds of neat. Sure, sticking one in a car or old truck wouldn’t be for creating some sort of insane running hot rod, but shoehorning one into a light enough car would result in something that should burn tires for miles if se…

When both my aunt and I first saw the G35 coupe, we knew it would drive like a dream, so we were afraisd to drive it becasue it was expensive. The salesman tok us out in a test drive. To reach into the rear seats, on the back of the front seat is a handle you pull up, and a black button is underneath it. Press it, and the seat slides forward gracefully and silently. The light sand-colored leather was incredible and comfortable! The dash had a sliver outline, which was gorgeous! The features the salesman explained were like what one would find in a Bentley! When the salesman allowed my aunt to kick it into gear, she did, and the experience was unforgettable! When the car t…

First time I remember there being school cancaletion due to rain. Sweet, now I have an extra day to study for the test I was supposed to have. The flood levels look as bad as they did last May. Maybe I'll get pictures for all to see later. But first, I sleep. It's a good day.

What did you do for your mamma on her special day? My mom wanted to go to Easton, MD (where I used to live) for lunch, including some locally famous cream of crab soup. Then we took the short trek to St. Michaels, MD, to another locally famous spot for some ice cream. She said she had a great day, which was good. I thought of something funny on the way home after dropping her off though... both places are gay-owned.

Before I start, I would like to thank Mr Cubical and Casa for reviving the other Would You Rather Thread with the Vette... And the others that answered it as well.... OK...so... Im at my son's baseball practice Saturday morning watching the kids pitch and catch and stuff when I hear a beautiful rumble from a distance coming from the parking lot. A black 1978 Camaro Z/28. l It was in rough condition, but still very driveable. Many little rust bubbles all around but the body seemed to be in decent shape. T-Tops and white interior. Like this except in black The V8 under the hood made glorious loping sounds...like this: The best I could find that was similar…

so, if I was to consider an H3 as my next daily driver, would that be absurd? consider this, they are leasing cheap right now. and they have utility. mpg is better than say, a tahoe and not really that much worse than an SRX or acadia or edge or explorer or something. I would be looking at a base model H3 with a stick. I'd really like a stick again. No doubt I would bear wrath from a couple coworkers, who despise cars and SUV's in particular, and such. Screw them I say. I'll run over their little MAAAZZZZZZdahs. Isn't an H3 just a tarted up trailblazer with greater off road capability? they aren't too big, and they really look cool, and its a GM product. …
