When I check C&G, I usually check all the GM news brand by brand first. I go in alphabetical order. I then check the new stuff on The Other Guys". After that, I check the Lounge. Following that I check other interesting topics. What is your C&G routine?

While visiting Stayner, Ontario, I happened on this gem. It is a really rare, and extremely low milage 1996 Dodge Ram Indianapolis 500. An elderly gentleman owned it since new, then passed away leaving it for his kids, and then it found its way to a dealer in Stayner. It is kept in a climate controled garage! 18,827 Kilometers (11,698 Miles!!!) and perfect condition. Looks like it just came from the factory!!! They want $17,000 for it. From info I found on the net, approximately 2802 Indy Rams were built! VIDEO: PICS:

Sunday night I was delivering to one projects in the one of the $h!tier areas of Lawrence. No tip, of course...cheap assholes. Anyway As I'll driving down the road to get on the rotary to head back, these 2 idiots in Civics are parked side-by-side blocking most of the road. One of them is 90's sedan with clear tail lights, the other is an 80's $h!box with mismatched panels and the "Civic" wording on the back of the hatch way off center. I wait for a moment, then beep my horn...I wait a couple more minutes and they still don't budge. So I gun it hard and screech the tires past them and blow through the rotary...tire screaming and all. I co…

Betcha didn't see this one coming... US youngsters are too fat to fight, warn generals Former generals want Congress to act to give children better food in schools. Rising rates of obesity among young Americans could undermine the future of the US military, two retired generals have warned. More than a quarter of young Americans are now too fat to fight, they said. LINK HERE A nation growing with slow, easy targets... that can't be good.

I'm not keeping this one forever. Once I feel the time is right, I'll have to have the replacement ready. My first thought was a huge question mark. So give me some ideas, and don't be too nasty (yeah, right). Have fun: at my expense, at GM's , or be serious if you like. You never know what might end up as the perfect idea.

From the L.A. Times: A driver lost control of a Ferrari sports car traveling 120 mph along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu this morning, slamming into a power pole that cut the car — which sells for up to $1 million — in half, according to authorities. One man suffered minor injuries. He was identified as Stefan Erikssen, of Bel-Air, said Sgt. Philip Brooks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The sports car went airborne and struck a power pole 5 to 10 feet off the ground, Brooks said. The car was demolished, but two air bags deployed. "You pay a million bucks for a car, you expect safety," Brooks said. Investigators said they believe the driver was alon…

In all the talk about GM restructuring and the possibility of bankruptcy, nobody has come up with a solution to GM's true problem; the American public general perception of the company and its products. What do you think it would take for people to believe in GM again? Or more importantly, what do you think it would take to get Americans to believe in other Americans again?

I had a friend whose house was foreclosed on a couple weeks ago and he has been crashing in my guest room since then. I would love to kick him out because he is really annoying, but he really doesn't have anywhere else to go. He's going to pay my utilities until he leaves, so thats nice, but I'd rather jsut pay it myself and be able to run across the house naked whenever I please.

So I went over to York, PA today to study some vehicles. The Buick, while cool as heck, is just too expensive at this point in my life. The Fords are very nice, all SE manual hatches ranging from $23-$25k (crappy pinstripes would be off like a prom dress immediately though). The Sonic RS is $21.8k but red is not my color (although it looks very good in red). Please give opinions if you wish. http--,,--//

So I've got this guy I know from the TDI Club named Jess that came to our club dinner last night. Jess is into TDI's and Miatas, so we get along pretty well. What's impressive about Jess is his job-he collects eyes from human donors for transplant. Interesting full time job... And Jess's TDI Golf is a quick little car, but it's neither stock nor EPA legal. In fact, given the right conditions (AC, downshift, full throttle) it will create about as much soot as a good coal fired Chinese power plant. Anyhow...one day Jess is out and about in his TDI Golf going to put a set of eyes on ice. He's going about 70 passing a semi going 65 when a nearly new Camry rolls up on h…

A sign of the Gay Apocolypse!!!!! I was driving around on some back roads south of my house for something to do, being my bored ol' self. Well, I suddenly came across this sign. Just look at it. We have the town of Dubois (pronounced Do-Boys, which makes this whole occurance alot funnier) 10 miles ahead, Paradise 2 miles to the left, Desire 5 miles to the left, Panic 7 miles to the left, and Stump Creek a mile to the right. If the names weren't wacky enough... if you take 10, divide it by 2, add 5, times that by 7, and subract 1... You get 69!!!!! Hahahaha!!!!!! :rotflmao:

ILVTOFU. Does that seem obscene to you? If it does, you might want to apply for a job at the Colorado Department of Revenue (DOR). When mother-of-three Kelley Coffman-Lee requested this combination of letters for a vanity license plate, she was turned down. While Kelley wanted the world to know just how much she loves tofu, the DOR saw it as a profession of love for something else entirely. "I-LV-TOFU" was deemed too risque, the DOR thinking it could be misinterpreted as "I-LV-TO-F-U." Coffman-Lee is a vegan, and as she puts it, "I'm very expressive. ... there is no legitimate reason for a wholesale abandonment of the Zeta architecture. It is a product ready for release with all of its development money spent. It has been crtically acclaimed, and certainly sets a new standard for GM RWD. I will concede that in its present form its shelf life may be shorter than it would have been due to outside factors, but to toss it aside before letting it prove itself in our market is pure stupidity. If CAFE and fuel prices and currency issues pinch it back in the coming years, so be it. But to invite a huge and obvious loss when the product itself is so strong makes no sense. A pendulum swing back to all FWD all the time is …

What does everyone think of the job Rick Wagoner has done so far, and of the plans he has made known? Why do you feel this way? Who could be better? In the past few weeks of watching the news and reading the papers, GM has been mentioned a lot. None of it good. While all of the other automakers are in a financial mess, and no one can argue that Chrysler and Ford are in trouble as well, GM seems to be the worst off. I see Chrysler teaming up with Nissan (Titan/Ram, and Dodge/Versa) to get a better hold on the market. I also see that slow sellers (PT Convertible, Aspen Hybrid, etc) are getting cut. Over at ford there is a beautiful new Lincoln MKS, other products in the p…

Automotive News December 24, 2007 - 12:01 am ET "Bigger is better" is dead. True, that marketing philosophy has proved lucrative for the better part of a century. Americans like big cars and trucks and big powertrains to haul them. But now that Congress has passed a 35-mpg corporate average fuel economy standard, that philosophy is obsolete. Automakers must prepare consumers for some big changes. The industry must show the public what the future will look like. Vehicles will shrink, and engines won't be quite so large. But with the right mix of styling, technology and performance, marketers still can create excitement. Yes, it will force some new thinking amo…

So im finishing up my last english class of high school, and we're working on alot of shirt stories, most of them pretty boring. Our latest one is "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. I love it! it has the craziest plot twist, and contrasts a "civilized" small american town with the barbarian nature that embodies every american, and holds a message that we ignore violence and suffering until it personally affects us. ive read it a few times, and everytime i read it i discover more symbolism, and im usually not this much into English stories. Anyone read it? if your interested its not that long. The Lottery

It has been raining or sprinkling nonstop for the last couple days as a storm system has stalled out over eastern Iowa. So far we have 8 inches of rain here in the city and streets and streams are starting to flood. We have these teaming rooms in our office we call the cubes (see pic below) and one spots leaks by the air handling unit. We put a 10 gallon trash can up there to catch the water drip, but today it filled up so fast that the weight caused the bucket to crash through the top layer of drywall and water starting spilling into the insulation and causing the lower drywall to bubble. The can was too heavy to lift out, and being the tall one I was volunteered …

Well, I didn't want to do this on 9/11 with it being such an important date and all, but seeing as in how it is September, I planned on doing a 911 thread. There may not be many replies on this one, but I know there's a few out there who have an appreciation for the brand. As for me, well, many of you probably know the 911 is my all-around favorite car model, so this one will be both fun an torturous. The rules- 1) Factory 911's from Porsche only, no RUF's, 9ff's, Singers, etc. 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These obviously are not your only cars. 4) Maximum of 9 choices. Have fun.

I need a history report on a 1988 Dodge Aries LE. It is for sale at my local Toyota dealer for $200. It only has a 5 digit odometer so that is what it reads. It does run really nice but it needs new rear struts and the rust needs to be bondoed up. The car what rust proofed except for behind the drivers side passenger door and behind the rear wheels. If someone could PM me if they end up with one. I would really appreciate it. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Harry kissed Sally goodbye and said, 'Well, I'm off now. The man should be here soon.' Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. 'Good morning, Ma'am', he said, 'I've come to...' Has anyone else seen the original Vanishing Point. I just watched it last night and it was great. Good car chase as well. Motor Trend ruined the movie for me though. They explained the 2 bulldozers so I knew the meaning in the first part of the movie. The car that was crashed into the bulldozers was actually a 67 Camaro. Motor Trend explained it because you can see the upside down Camaro badge when the townspeople are examining the wreckage. I didn't see the badge but I saw the body and windowline and I knew it was a Camaro. This was a good car chase movie. Anyone else seen it or seen any other good car chase movies? My favourite car chase is in Bulitt.

I think I may have financially overextended myself a bit. It's sad really, when I think about it. I bought one of the cheapest condos I could find in Toronto. Half the loan is from my grandfather, at a better-than-bank rate. Half the loan is at 6% from the bank, which is fairly decent. My car is pretty basic too, I'm sure you'll all agree. Selling it and getting an older one wouldn't really solve my problems, since insurance is the main issue. Last month I had to pay my grandfather his interest for the year, and now I'm finding myself really in a bind. There's just no words.... I remember in my Integra days, when the stock wheels were all stolen and the car was left on bricks. Or when it was broken into downtown to steal some BS beat-up leather jacket (and a few of my mixtapes, which really hurt). Just this morning, I logged in and there's a new feature called "News Feed" that highlights everything you have done recently on facebook...posting on walls, commenting on pictures, accepting invitations, etc. Talk about stalkerish. The only feature that was cool was adding photos...everything since then has been unnecessary. There are some people that update that profile badge thing every day, making sure everyone knows their whereabouts. I haven't used it once. I've heard Facebook has ties to the CIA and that it's …

Today some junk mail slipped past the Hotmail filter that had the title "Want to meet SEXY Christians?". Here's what it said: It sounds like some normal hocus pocus dating service except for one thing...SexyChristiansMeet.com. Seriously, what the hell? Even funnier, it came on Sunday at 9 AM.

I'm very excited for the holiday season this year. I'm set to go. To start, Halloween wasn't bad, but the rest will be amazing. November 1st is when one of the radio stations around here (100.3 WNIC) starts playing Christmas music. Well, I already went out a few times and listened to it on random cruises to here and from there. It's so cheery. Then Thanksgiving should be great fun. Turkey and all the veggies and stuff I can (and can't) handle. Plus, I get like 3 days off school that week. Christmas break is going to be sweet as hell because it's like one of my biggest breaks this year (and almost as long as my summer break because I start at Ke…

Some fun with friends and family! Enjoy! http://www.freemosquitoringtones.org/ My daughter thought she could add ring tones that we couldn't hear, what a surprise she got when I heard her cell phone ring late at night one night, she took me to this site, I could hear up to 21khz, poor Mrs. PCS could only hear 15khz and below, and she is younger than me.

I'm copying this message I received, but please do help out with this. I have been volunteering time and money at Motherly Intercession for over 4 years now and would really, really be grateful to all of you if you consider giving the organization a vote! ----------- Hello everyone, I am requesting your help in order to receive a grant for the place where I tutor weekly, in Flint - Motherly Intercession. If you can vote daily, I would really appreciate it. See below: Motherly Intercession needs your help! For those of you not familiar with the Organization, our mission is to provide support for the young, innocent children of incarcerated parents who are left behind wh…

After a particularly aggravating commute, I decided to post this list of the things that annoy me. These things may not seem like "bad driving", but they reduce the efficiency of our roads, and waste everyone's time. Feel free to post your own pet peeves as well. This list is expressway-specific. 1. People who don't get over to the right. You are supposed to drive in the right most lane unless passing. When the highway is packed, and you are constantly passing, go ahead and drive in the left lane. Expressways would flow so much better if everyone just moved over. Then I wouldn't have to guess what the guy in the middle lane is going to do when he encounters the slow…

WASHINGTON - From higher electric bills to more expensive gasoline, the possible economic cost of tackling global warming is driving the debate as climate change takes center stage in Congress. Legislation set for Senate debate Monday would require a reduction in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from power plants, refineries, factories and transportation. The goal is to cut heat-trapping pollution by two-thirds by midcentury. With gasoline at $4 per gallon and home heating and cooling costs soaring, it is getting harder to sell a bill that would transform the country's energy industries and — as critics will argue — cause energy prices to rise even more. Se…

Well, looks like I'm the first person on C&G 3.0 to breech the 10,000 post mark, so horray me. What makes it interesting to me is that several members are hot on my tail with posts in the 7, 8, and 9,000s. Also, keep in mind these number are somewhat skewed by the fact that this version of C&G has only been up for part of our near-6-year history - let's hope we don't have to start over again! Another thing that stands out to me are our relatively 'small' membership numbers, close to 4,000 now. Again, those numbers are skewed because of database crashes, but it seems like if you register for an account here, you intend to post. And chances are that if you post, yo…

I went to the mall this morning to get my hair did (1 on the sides, 6 on top with a fade), and noticed the parking lot was sort of full. Turns out the SCCA was having an autocross event in a cordoned-off section of the lot. Oh man, was that fun to watch! Mostly ricers with a smattering of domestics, the cars represented a wide range, from a PT Cruiser convertible driven by a middle-aged lady, to a new Z06 driven by a slightly thinner Santa Claus (car sounded WAY HOT going through the cones!), and a Lotus Elise (dude spun it, dummy). There were Cobalt SS/SCs, ION Redlines, a lot of Miatas, Mini Coopers, WRXs and Evos... even an old Lumina Z34 DOHC coupe with a 5 speed!…

It all started this morning on hempstead turnpike(6 lanes). I stopped at a stoplight like every normal citizen when all of a sudden the saturn got hit from behind. Not enough to deploy the airbags, but hard enough that I was shaking. So, I look back and see some late 20-something year old guy wiping coffee off of his dash. So I put my hazards on and pulled into the nearest parking lot. He followed. Of course he was in a new Sonota. Fortunatelly there was no damage to my car. His front plate was dented but it was his fault. Turns out he was looking to get his coffee for a sip and didn't stop at the light....therefore crashing into me. So, I wasted 5 minute of my life freak…

Backfire #4 - Super Cars Aren't So Super March 5th, 2015 Blake Noble explains his recent and controversial OppositeLock editorial on why he isn't hyped up on hypercars. Hear why he's willing to take on Jalopnik's critical commentators in Backfire #4! ". . . today's supercars cars are all like AC/DC records. You get the same three chords, the same solo, and the same 4/4 rhythm every song. Nothing ever changes, and lowbrow disc jockeys won't stop playing it." - OppositeLock Column Read the rest of Blake's editorial here: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/why-supercars-arent-so-super-1689071775 Blake Noble: @b_nobull Jeremy Sally: @jeremysally …

Within the last few weeks, I've received communication (to put it mildly) from the local hospital that did the surgery to remove my gallbladder IN 2005. The first letter I received indicated that they had sent my bill to a collection agency for failure to pay. I combed through all of my medical bills/records ... and found NO EOB from my then insurance company, nor did I find any bills/communication from the hospital. So, I called and told them that I wanted an itemized bill. "It's on the way", so I was told. Then, the week I was at home after the pacemaker replacement surgery, I received ANOTHER letter from them. This time, it indicated that they "had not been able …

I was just scanning MSN when I saw this piece of BS: Eventually, you get to the Delorenzo article "Hell Freezes over," but first you see a picture that says, "GM: What went wrong. Here's why Toyota became #1 and is likely to stay there." So, apparently GM is now "dead" because they are no longer #1 (for the first quarter, I might add). WTF? This is the most deceiving headline I've seen in quite a while, and to say that GM is now "dead" because they were outsold by Toyota by a relatively small margin in the first quarter in global sales is ridiculous. Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes, VW, and every other carmaker besides Toyota must be dead too. And until r…

SAN FRANCISCO – California's Supreme Court upheld the state's gay-marriage ban Tuesday but said the estimated 18,000 same-sex weddings that took place before the prohibition passed are still valid — a ruling decried by gay-rights activists as a hollow victory. Demonstrators outside the court booed, wept and yelled, "Shame on you!" Activists said they would go back to the voters as early as next year in a bid to repeal the ban, and a federal lawsuit seeking to overturn it was filed late last week. In a 6-1 decision written by Chief Justice Ron George, the court rejected arguments that the ban approved by the voters last fall was such a fundamental change in the Califor…

Tim Flannery's radical climate change 'solution' Link: http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23724412-2,00.html Mankind "pump sulphur into atmosphere to survive" Measure may change colour of the sky "Would deflect sun's rays, slow global warming" SCIENTIST Tim Flannery has proposed a radical solution to climate change which may change the colour of the sky. But he says it may be necessary, as the "last barrier to climate collapse." Professor Flannery says climate change is happening so quickly that mankind may need to pump sulphur into the atmosphere to survive. Australia's best-known expert on global warming has updated his climate forecast for the world - and it'…
