I was just looking at the Autoblog pics from the Cruze press event this last week. I couldn't help but notice a warning light in the gauge cluster that reads "AUTO" and has a windshield logo above it (Picture attached). Did the press release mention anything about Rainsense or is that supposed to be a surprise? http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/12/29-la-2011-chevy-cruze.jpg Any thoughts? I figured that if any new GM compact got Rainsense it would be the new Buick.

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com February 19, 2013 With the introduction of the new Corvette Stingray, everyone is wondering what will be in store for the Z06 and ZR1. Motor Trend has some early indications of what to expect. The Z06 will stick naturally aspirated 7.0L engine with the power output possibly reaching 600 horsepower. The power output for Z06 will not be made till they get the final power output for the ZR1. If the ZR1 produces 700 HP, then the Z06 will have 600 HP. If the ZR1 produces somewhat less than 700 HP, expect the Z06 to be somewhere in the mid 500s. The ZR1 will use a variation of the Stingray's LT1 V8 with a supercharger. So…

Linkity BATTLE ROYALE IN 600+ HORSEPOWER CARS Fourth: 2009 Dodge Viper SRT10 Highs: Fabulous styling, immense torque, monster performance for the money. Lows: Requires bravery pills on bumpy roads, claustrophobic cabin, flaccid exhaust note. The Verdict: Plenty of charm, plenty of flaws. Third: 2010 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series Highs: Gobs of power and torque, unflappable back-road performance, easy to live with. High School Offers Car To Student With Perfect Attendance SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Come to school, get a free car. That's the deal being offered by Santa Ana Unified School District, where students with perfect attendance can enter into a lottery to win a brand new Chevy Aveo, according to The Orange County Register. School officials said they hope dangling the keys to the $13,000 car donated by a local dealership will save the district money by curbing absenteeism. Santa Ana Unified is facing a $17 million budget deficit, and losses up to $40 in funding every day a student misses school. Some critics say the giveaway focuses parents' and students' attention on …

It's the end of the road for the Chevrolet Camaro. The final Camaro was a ZL1 1LE with a manual transmission. As of now, there are no images of the final Camaro. Chevy didn't tell a spokesperson from Motor1 whether they would keep it or sell it to a customer. A Chevrolet spokesman said in a statement "Camaro is a passion product. It has developed a fan base worldwide and brought people into Chevrolet dealerships for generations. The sixth generation specifically represented athleticism and composure – exuding confidence on the road and dominance on the track." Chevy had previously announced in March 2023 that the Camaro would retire after the 2024 model year. …

Latest Motor Trend has article comparing the HHR, Mazda 3s, Dodge Caliber and Toyota Matrix. They placed the Mazda first, now I will say that all in all the Mazda is a pretty nice overall vehicle. however I was very disappointed to see the place the Matrix 2nd and the HHR 3rd. After all, isn't the Vibe GM's worst vehicle as far as quality goes? I want to write a letter into MT, can anybody give me the links showing the Vibes poor quality ratings for me to shove in their faces?

Corvette To Be Built Elsewhere? William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 4, 2011 Could the Corvette be moving from it's home in Bowling Green, Kentucky? That's the question Corvette fans and workers at the Corvette plant are asking. A report from NBC affiliate WLEX in Lexington says the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority authorized a $7.5 million tax break for a possible expansion at the plant costing $131 million. Mandy Lambert, spokewoman for the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority said the approval "outlines the state's support for the project, should it happen." However, Bowling Green Plant spokeswoman Andrea…

I am interested to know if the Volt design had been the Cruze, would you consider it more interesting, or functional, or desirable than the Cruze? I am not at all bringing the hybrid into the question. If the Cruze had arrived with the Volt's styling (with obviously more interior space returned because of no battery) would the Cruze seemed more attractive? I have to admit. On styling alone and with the hatchback, the Volt as a Cruze would have actually been the game changing small car for Chevy that is still the jury that will be out on the Cruze. Please vote (volt) for your favorite.....

Well since no one else has said anything I thought I might post this so we are not the only GM site without a thread on the ZL1 performance. This week the cover has been pulled off the road test of the Zl1. It was tested vs the 302 Boss that the media has fallen in love with for it's track performance and the Camaro beat The HP helped a little but the new suspension has taught the fat lady to really dance. In the mean tme Al Oppenheiser says that he feels the ZL1 will remain faster than the coming Shelby. I know Al and he is one a real car guy and two he is not a BS er. They have done computer sims on both cars and they feel the Shelby will not be able to use all the po…

With GM's very acute attention to design and detail in our newest models both on the inside and outside (Camaro in particular, Equinox, Malibu, Invicta, etc.), it only makes me anticipate a new generation of Corvette even more, especially with the CAFE hype hitting and saying the Corvette might be smaller, lighter, and on Alpha. However, my biggest focus is on interior/exterior design. What are you guys expecting?

Last month, speculation was going around after an trademark application was filed by GM for 'Badlands' to be used on a future model. The speculation was this was going to be used on the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra as competitors to the Ford Raptor. But according to Edmunds, GM has no plans for a direct Raptor competitor. "We have a lot of priorities. Capital is not endless. That is not one of our highest priorities in terms of spending capital right now," said Mark Reuss, GM's executive vice president of global product development. However, Reuss isn't fully against a performance off-road monster. He points toward the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 concept shown at LA Au…

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt LS XFE - Short Take Road Test Xtra Fuel Economy may not be thrilling, but at least it’s not torture. September 2008 At first glance, the Chevrolet Cobalt appears to be suffering from neglect. Its generic, character-free interior and exterior design was already a step behind the competition when the car launched in 2005, and little has changed in the intervening years. Now that the Cobalt is riding out its final years before its replacement, the Cruze, arrives in 2010 as a 2011 model, that’s sort of a moot point; we wouldn’t expect Chevy to invest heavily in its lame-duck compact, after all. But rising fuel prices and America’s growing interest …

Does that make him the right leader to save the carmaker? In June, Daniel F. Akerson, the chairman and chief executive officer of General Motors, gave a speech to about 400 engineers and designers at the company’s technical center north of Detroit. It was a boilerplate, morale-boosting speech, generous with exhortations about work ethics and staying vigilant. Then came the Q&A session. One emplo…

The idea here is not to produce the ultimate gas savings or the highest performance. Instead it is a Mild Hybrid which combines amicable fuel consumption with lively driving characteristics. The system is avoids the weight and cost burden of a big battery, while benefiting from an efficient asymmetric combustion cycle. The price premium will be in the order of $1000 over a turbo Malibu, while the driving experience -- especially in daily driving regimes in the idle to 4000 rpm range -- will be similar to a 3 liter V6. 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Lineup See Their Prices Go Up William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com June 14, 2011 If you have your heart set on new 2012 Chevrolet Corvette, you might want to make sure you have enough money. Corvette Blogger recently went through GM's RPO for the 2012 Corvette and found out prices are going up. The MSRP for most Corvette models goes up anywhere from $480-$1,150. Only one model, the Corvette ZR1 sees a drop in it's MSRP. Yes, its only $75, but hey its still a drop. In addition, prices for the Equipment Group packages are on the up. The 2LT coupe will rise $1,195 to $2,095 while the 3LT coupe jumps from $4,205 to $5,9…

2008 Chevrolet Malibu Road Test Chevy catches a wave back into the mid-size game. by Paul A. Eisenstein http://www.thecarconnection.com/contact/in...asp?AuthorID=59 (2007-11-02) Get out of the fast lane, Toyota Camry. Move aside, Honda Accord. For the first time in a generation, General Motors is back with a game-changing mid-size sedan. And the imports better be worried, when they see the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu pull up in their rearview mirror. There was a time when Detroit, GM, in particular, dominated the mid-size market, but that's so far back, many of today's buyers likely won't even remember anything but the more lackluster offerings that f…

The lengths that automakers go to with camouflaging vehicles continues to amaze us. Case in point, the first spy photos of the next-generation Chevrolet Suburban has hit the internet. General Motors has covered up every surface, including the underside. That's because the new Suburban appears to be ditching the solid rear axle for an independent setup. We know this as a spy photographer found the right spot where there was minimal camouflage and captured it. Why is Chevrolet switching to an IRS setup? It might have to do with the new Ford Expedition which moved to independent rear suspension. A source told Autoblog that Chevrolet wouldn't have fit IRS because it was …

Did anyone else see it? There is a Tundra parked on the side of the road. A guy driving a Silverado pulls up and asks the owner if he needs a ride. Now, for a split second I was expecting and hoping that the reason for the Tundra being on the side of the road was a snapped camshaft. While it was disappointing that this was not the case, it was also AWESOME that the reason was the Tundra RAN OUT OF GAS. The commercial then went on to illustrate the same regarding the Ford F-150. FINALLY. This is the kind of advertising GM needs. Tell people why GM's trucks are better than Toyota's.

It was made offical Saturday that Ken Black Racing with drivers Jason Line and Greg Anderson will swap out the Pontiac G6 for a new Summit Racing Camaro Pro Stock cars this season. The cars will show up around Gainsville this season. From those I know the team had lobbied for the CTSV coupe as the aero shape was similar and there was no issues with the c pillar as there was with the Camaro. GM had wanted the Camaro as it was the car that they wanted to promote in the series. I am not sure if they got the changes in the C pillar area they wanted or not but it will be the car they plan to run. The cars have been up and running at their test track in Moorsville NC and th…

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/motoring...olet_ultra.html This part of the article jumped out at me... I tend to think the writer is being a little optimistic here: " With a production version that’s set to look virtually identical to the concept going on sale in 2008, the newcomer is primed to cause a real stir in the compact family hatch market. " What I do see is the evolution of the Chevy grille already - with the upper part of the grille getting a twist inward. You'll see what I mean when you get a look at the Chevy Colorado SEMA concept that is going to emulate this front-end look (still embargoed).

The MSN home page has a link to vote for your favorite Concept This is the link Camaro concept I cut this after I had already voted (and guess what I voted for, you're right the Hindustan Ambassador) anyway I clicked on it again and I couldn't get to the vote page a second time but that may have been because I had alredy voted. It came up with thumbnails of the concepts but I couldn't get to the vote page. But give it a try and if it doesn't work then just go to MSN autos and vote there.

Anyone driven a GM car with the shift skip? So how does it work? And how it will effect driving a new Camaro SS with a six speed? Also can it be removed? Please help me I have been wondering along time (and since my son or I will be getting one I was wondering), also do they include so the Camaro dodged the gas guzzler tax? What is this launch control and why is it slower in the M/T review than the without launch control? Also I have driven a few manual trans vehicles lately but what is the best way to launch one for max acceleration and for a smokey burnout? (On a vehicle like the Camaro SS, I understand to push the clutch in and release slowly while applying more and mo…

On Wednesday, GM announced they will build 1,000 more Volts for this model year, bringing the total to about 16,000 Volts. GM also announced that production will increase from 45,000 to 60,000 vehicles for 2012 and will begin building the Opel Ampera for the European and Chinese markets. Here is a interesting story on the RWD down under and their take on the new Holden and Chevy. Also included is the future speculation on the future for Holden and GM. Note too the talk of the D2XX platform that will replace the Delta II and Theta. There are a few things on the new SS and the Falcon. http://www.motoring.com.au/news/large-passenger/commodore-v-falcon-the-final-chapter-34294 Note too the ad for the Colorado 7 opn the right side. After really looking at it I am not a fan. Looks like a Nissan. This is one that may have to grow on me with time if it ever comes here.

hi guys, im a new user and would like to know the difference between the sierra/silverado HD and those which don't carry the HD badge. I've owned a '79 5.7L suburban, a 7.4L suburban, a vortec 7.4L suburban and currently a vortec 8.1L suburban. all were great cars with good off road ability. i'm about to buy a used 2003 GMC sierra 2500HD and wondering if it's worth the HD badge when it comes to: power and torque, towing, off-roading, durability, non overheating, engine life. thanks

Chevrolet Spark Makes Its US Appearance In 2012 William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com August 4, 2011 If you're looking for something smaller than Chevrolet Sonic subcompact in the US, General Motors has the answer coming to you soon. Jason Laird, GM's executive director of North American product communications told Green Car Reports today, the Chevrolet Spark minicar will be coming to the US market next year as a 2013 model. The Spark was originally planned to come to the US in 2011, but with GM declaring bankruptcy in 2009, the date was pushed back a year. Laird tweeted from the Management Briefing Seminar conference in Traverse City, Mic…

Decemeber 21st, 2011 black-knight CheersandGears.com There's reason to believe that the folks over at Chevrolet may have a huge New Year's party soon. The storied marquee turned 100-years old this year and, proving that age will not slow it down, is within reach of surpassing it's all time global sales record. At the end of November, 4.8 million cars worldwide were sold wearing the Bowtie badge and December doesn't show any signs of that pace slowing down. It's very impressive, no doubt, but the gravy train doesn't stop there. All of those sales equaled up to Chevrolet increasing it's global market share by one half of a point and sixty percent of all Chevy models are…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com October 30, 2012 We've shown you spy shots of the new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. What we haven't been able to show is the two of them together... Until now. Automobile has gotten their hands on some new spy shots of the new Silverado and Sierra testing together. Much like the current models, the pictures reveal the trucks will have slight visual differences that include wheels, fender openings grilles, and taillights. The trucks feature a set of projector headlights and larger lower air dam. Around the side, the doors appear to not have any character lines. There is evidence of bright work around windows and so…

I was able to hear from Al Oppenheiser yesterday and here are some of the things non majore he related. The new Camaro convertible is in winter testing. Yes even with the roof down. He noted they are adding some more structure to the car and it will be nearly coupe like. He said no one should be disapointed in the chassie stiffness. He noted they are building Camaro's as fact as they can but have run into tire supply issues. It seems the Tires come from Brazil and are flown to Canada to arrive in time. They are conflicted with air transposts of Brazil exported fruit. GM is working with the Brazilian goverment to make sure to keep the tires coming. Sales for the Must…

Good new for Chevrolet Suburban fans. Back in March we reported that a Chevrolet Suburban HD would be available for the 2016 model year, but then later found that the Suburban HD would only be available for commercial and government Fleets. The commercial and government fleet version would come equipped with the venerable 5.3 liter V8 and some upgraded hardware. Now we can update you with some new information. The GM order guides for the Suburban just went live and now we can see that while there is still the Government and Fleet version, there is also now a 2016 Suburban 3500HD listed. There is no indication in the order guide as to if the 3500HD will be avail…

General Motors will be putting a halt on production of the current Volt starting next month. According to The Detroit News, General Motors will put the Detroit-Hamtramck on a six-week break to not only get the plant ready to build the next-generation Volt, but also reduce the amount of Volts sitting on dealer lots. “First-generation Volt will stop building at the very end of May to get ready for model change,” said GM spokeswoman Michelle Malcho. According to Wards Auto data, Chevrolet dealers currently have a 210-day supply of Volts. A 60-day supply of a vehicle is considered healthy. Through the month of March, GM has only moved 1,784 Volts, a 48 percent drop when co…

So we were in Fitchburg looking at a house (which was an interesting story in and of itself). On our way out of the city we passed by a Chevrolet dealership. On the lot was an Equinox FCV. I thought that was both very cool and quite peculiar. I was not expecting to see one of these in person, least of all at a dealership in some unimportant medium-sized city.

Previous Page Next Page Madness! That was our first thought when we saw the Chevrolet Colorado ZH2 - the result of a joint venture of General Motors and the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC). Even though it might be called a Colorado, it is unlike anyone you'll find at your nearest Chevrolet dealership. The model is 6.5-feet tall and over 7-feet wide. To accodimate for the larger size, Chevrolet used a lengthened and reinforced version of the Colorado's chassis. A set of 37-inch tires and specially modified suspension help the ZH2 go though any terrain that the Army will throw its way. That's…

While everyone has been going gaga over the possible fruition of the mid-engine Corvette, there is another juicy Corvette just around the corner. A spy photographer has gotten some up close photos of the next Corvette ZR1. Engineers have done their best to cover up the front, but there are some details that can be pulled out. First are the large vents on the bumper and a massive air intake. All of that air is needed if there is a 700 horsepower 6.2L supercharged V8 under the hood (according to rumor) along with massive brakes. We're guessing there is also some venting on the hood to provide additional cooling. The back features small uprights for a large rear wing (s…

Kurt B noted this anniversary on the Monte Carlo Mailing List before I had a chance to the other evening.... 20 years ago today (December 11) the Monte Carlo was discontinued. A quote from the GM restoration packet: "The 1988 model year marked the end of an era. The Aero Coupe had been dropped. The Monte Carlo was made available in LS and SS versions only. After approximately 3 months of production, Chevrolet opted to completely cancel the Monte Carlo model. Sadly, production ceased on Friday, December 11, 1987, at 5:29 PM." Heh ... can hardly believe it has been 20 years. Quite a lot has happened and changed since then.... Cort:34swm."Mr Monte Carlo.Mr Road…

More Details On The Camaro ZL1 William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com October 25, 2011 GM has been very open on releasing details for the Camaro ZL1. But certain nitty-gritty details weren't coming out about the car, until now. A Chevrolet Dealer recently spilled the guts on the ZL1 ordering brochure at the Camaro5 fourms and we now know the official numbers and so much more. As was talked about before, the Camaro ZL1 will arrive with a 6.2L V8 producing 580 horsepower, at 6,000 rpms, along with 556 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpms. Power goes through either a six-speed manual (standard), or a six-speed automatic with TAPshift steering wheel …

Has anyone seen the new Malibu commercial? It shows a Camry, then this suspensful music and the camera pans to the Malibu's imposing front end and up comes the text "CAMRY BEWARE" Car & Driver, November 2007" with the accompanying voice saying "Malibu, the car you cant ignore." It's a pretty good commercial. Short, and gets its point across.

Found it intersting that the GM Canada web site has a section all about the Nomad. Also, they have a questionaire about possible car buyers, when they are going to buy and what cars they are considering. It has a multiple choice format (you can't type in your choice). One of the choices preset is the Nomad!

Malibu Maxx stands alone NEW VEHICLE REVIEWS By Russ Heaps SPECIAL TO THE WASHINGTON TIMES November 25, 2005 If you still need evidence that there is indeed forward thinking going on at General Motors, take a gander at Chevrolet's Malibu Maxx. Before evaluating details such as the quality of materials used inside the cabin, keep in mind that Chevrolet's assignment in the GM pecking order is affordable transportation. Even its halo vehicle, the Corvette, is remarkably price competitive in the two-seat sports car arena. So while Malibu may not have the panache of, say, a Toyota Camry (When have you ever before seen panache and Camry used in the same sentence…

Hello, my name is Gabe, I am 14, and I love CHEVY! My father owned numerous Chevrolet Chevelles, and was a muscle buff, so its no wonder I like the Chevelle! But I am depressed that no such beast made it to the 1978 redesign . But of course It probably would have been a stripped down Monte Carlo,or would it have been the basis for the Monte Carlo?(How Ironic! The Monte was a plusher version of the Chevelle!) In my scenario, the Heavy Chevy would have continued on, and eventually, the Monte Carlo would take the long walk in 1981, and the proposed Monte SS would have become the Chevelle SS! The Chevelle would have gotten its own dedicated platform, the S Body, which is bas…
