  2. We're now into the third week of the strike at GM's CAMI Assembly in Ontario and neither side appears to be budging. There are rising concerns that GM could be running out of the stockpile of the Chevrolet Equinox. GM's second-best selling nameplate. According to data from Automotive News, GM had 43,453 Equinoxes (about a 41-day supply) at the beginning of this month. Chevrolet dealers sold 27,512 Equinox models last month. If this trend continues, there could be some serious problems towards the end of the year. "That's going to be hard on Equinox to compete on such a limited quantity in such a hot segment. We would expect sales to pick up in the last quarter o…

Why not offer the LS7 in a detuned form as an option on the base steal framed VETTE positioned between the LS2 and the Z06 models. It could be called the 427 CORVETTE like the historical ones even though its actually 428CI's. With 475 or so HP and the heaver steal frame in NON Z06 spec it would differ enough from that HIGH PERFORMANCE model in both cost and performance. This is something I WOULD LOVE TO SEE! A new 475HP 427 NEW GEN CAMARO to go with it!

They had Two new Corvettes also spot lighted during the show. There were several Cruze spots and the car looked good! Then they even had the ZR1 spot on near the end of the show. GM made good use of their money as they had great placment in one of the highest rated shows and really targeted the youth market. I will have to watch and see what else they show in future episodes. 15. Back in December, we reported on General Motors' VIN decoder for the 2019 model year. One of the interesting bits was the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze getting a CVT. We speculated at the time that the transmission would appear in a Eco model. But when GM announced the 2019 Cruze in April, there was no mention of the CVT. The only transmission news was that the six-speed manual had been dropped. Was the mention of the CVT a misprint? Nope. “There were a small number of Cruzes built with a CVT for fleet use only which is why the option is disclosed on the EPA website,” explained Katie Minter, Chevrolet spokeswoman to CarsDirect. The CVT option doesn't offer any significan…

  67. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 9, 2013 Just a couple days after Chevrolet announced that 2015 Corvette Z06 will debut at the Detroit Auto Show, the fine folks at Automobile Magazine got their hands on some new spy shots of a Z06 mule undergoing some testing. Now the pictures reveal some information that we have known about since Chevrolet showed off a teaser shot such as the enlarged brakes, the unique black multispoke wheels, and air vents on the fenders to keep the brakes cool. One item that is very notable is a raised hood, possibly bulge or scoop. A source tells Automobile that the Z06 could be packing a supercharged version of the Sting…

I believe in neither Global Warming nor the importance of reducing carbon emissions. But, I can see a place for entry luxury vehicles with a refined, fuel efficient and sprightly power train. Such a vehicle will have significant appeal regardless of the potential buyer's propensity to drink Climate Change Coolaid. In this regard, the Volt is lacking in terms of cost effectiveness and performance -- it is a nice Halo car, but it won't be a volume seller. Paying $15,000 extra to save even 70% on the average $1000~1200 annual gas tab doesn't make sense because you won't break even for 17~22 years, and the public is already beginning to awaken to the fraud that is global warm…

Can GM leave the pulsatile engine behind? Regardless of whether someone worships the Global Warming religion or think androgynous climate change is utter rubbish, regardless of whether that person cares a lot about fuel economy or not at all, anyone who has ever driven an electric car or a hybrid in purely electric mode will immediately appreciate the eerie absence of noise and vibration of an electric motor. Afterall, there are no contained explosions, no exhaust pulses and no vibrations from metal slugs going up & down. Put the smoothest V12 next to an electric motor and it suddenly sounds and feels crude. Selling "Green" only goes so far... selling ultimate refine…

Here's the April update on Volt 1712: With the weather warming up here in CT, I am easily seeing 40+ miles in EV range, with a high so far of 48 miles. Staying off the highway and sticking with the back roads is the easiest way to see the higher mileage because of regenerative charge back to the battery during coasting and braking. This isn't always possible or practical or course, and I don't take the back roads just to extend the EV range. I still continue to drive in SPORT mode and have found it has not reduced my range. I'm also experimenting with driving in Low (in lieu of Drive). Some Volt owners on the Voltage site have indicated that driving in Low has exte…

During the Video he said they have thought about doing a Concept car based on the 2E's ideas. Don't know if this will lead anywhere but it is a great video to watch and listen too. Chaparral would be a good name for a limited edition Vette or Camaro as Jim hall had a history with both. It would be a great heritage name to bring back.

Again there is talk of a CORVETTE BRAND split away from CHEVROLET and a mid Engine SUPER VETTE in the future. I think this could work if done correctly. And with KAPPA production moving to the VETTE plant in the future and a possible KAPPA-X BODY merging also it seems even more logical. With the next gen VETTE and KAPPA cars possibly related with KAPPA useing a steal frame (aka todays kappa and base vette) with I4 and V6 power and the VETTE useing a V8 and lighter more advanced aluminum frame (aka ZO6) and other high tech features it could work and cost less then two NEW UNIQUE PLATFORMS. I would hate to see CHEVY lose the VETTE but maby CORVETTE's better future would be …

As the 2007 VUE Green Line sets to make its appearance as GM's first true hybrid offering work is being done on the hybrid Equinox. Naturally one would assume that since they are on the same platform, architecture, etc that they would share the same hybrid drivetrain. From what I've been hearing, the Equinox will feature a different hybrid system than the Vue. The Vue uses the "two-mode" hybrid system that at stop lights the batteries take over while the engine is shut down. Could a "true" hyrid be in store for the Equinox complete with batteries and greater fuel efficency? Only time will tell.
