Here are a few quick and easy recipes that not only are cheap, but definitely NOT unhealthy! "Chicken Rice" Difficulty: easy Combine can of Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup in a pot with some rice. Cook until rice is finished. Stir pretty frequently to keep it from burning as it is a very dry recipe. Very tasty! You can add curry and pepper to it if you want. --- Cucumber salad Difficulty: easy Finely chop 3 cucumbers. Combine 1.5 tsp sugar, a fair amount of rice vinegar (3/4 cup or so), Kikoman Tempura Dipping Sauce to taste and 1 tbl water in a small bowl. Mix. Add cucumbers to bowl. You may also add shredded carrots if you choose. Hand toss and let marina…

Well on its way to becoming the highest-grossing film of all time, James Cameron's Avatar is bulldozing all the competition. Have you seen it? I took my mother to see it yesterday at her request, and I must say, even with the heavy-handed message(s) and well-worn love story angle, it was beautifully done. We saw it in 2-D, and I'd go back to see it in 3-D, wow, what a way to light up the screen.

So today I am surrounded by my Japanese/Euro car nut friends at our local Autocross. One of the MINI guys, Allen chimes in "That new Buick Lacrosse is a Hot car!" and he says it in the reverent tone we used to use when I was a teenager and we were talking about GTO's and SS 396 Chevelles. The Suburu guys chimed in and talked about how beautiful the car was, and how much better it was than a Lexus. The Miata guys all talked about how nice the interior was, and the Honda guys were talking about how nice the powertrain was and how well built they thought it was. Mind you, at 44 I was the oldest guy of about 12 of us in the group. NONE of these guys is a real huge d…

I thought this would create a good conversation. What cool/interesting/or special cars do your neighbours own. The one's that make you watch in awe as they drive by your house. For me, my new neighbour just moved in across the street. He drives a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS in gold and the people beside him drive a 1970 GTO. It just sits in their garage under a pile of toys, etc.

As some of you may or may not know, the 1988 album ...And Justice for All has pretty much no bass to it. Two of the most speculated theories are that the band was still broken up about the death of Cliff Burton two years earlier, so they toned the bass down to inaudible levels as a sign of respect for their dearly departed friend. The other theory is that the band was hazing Jason, the new bassist, and to show him that he could never fill Cliff's shoes, they shut him out from the mixing session and toned the bass down. The rest of the band's official explanation is that they wanted a "garage sound." They were pretty mean to Jason back then...sometimes he would come ba…

Happened across this earlier... http://www.classicresto.com/mambo/content/view/96/43/ Basically, its not finished, but its step-by-step restoration of a '86 Grand Prix 2+2... except they are modifying the car to have an Escalade drivetrain (6L80!), GTO seats and to make the rear window part of a hatchback. Very cool... will be nice to see the finished result.

Piggybacking on ocnblu's sequential turn signal thread, while searching for some videos on that topic I came across the video link I posted above. It's a 1999 Pontiac Trans Am Coupe done up in "Knightrider KITT" style but plussed even further. I think the owner did an awesome job and I really like the end result. At the end of the video he shows the LED underbody lighting feature and call me crazy, but I think that's something that police cars could benefit from having. Enjoy!!

What is the coolest GM car that you ahve seen this week? For me it is a silver 66 Chevelle S396 hardtop that had to be one of the nicest restorations I've ever seen. I've seen lots of Super Chevy show winners, I've seen AACA winners, I've seen pritine Mustang Club of America winners... And this thing was nicer, cleaner, and more seemingly original than anything else I swear that I've seen in a long time. Also this week- 2 Good looking late 60's Toranado's Silver 69 Camaro Z-28 Thumpin big block 70 Nova, Pro street, just wicked Looked at a CTS (new) at a dealer Good looking SKY was out front of a resteraunt with it's top down, someone had taken a dark grey…

I went to the Coronado Speed Festival this past weekend, at Coronado Island/North Island NAS in San Diego. Had a great weekend, saw a bunch of neat vintage race cars, some racing, and a variety of interesting street cars on show. A little of bit of everything--lots of Porsches since the 911 was featured marque, '70s Datsun race cars, some vintage Trans Am cars, NASCAR cars, Can Am cars, open wheel race cars. Got to meet Tony Adamowicz, great guy to chat with. here's a few pics.. More pics at my Fotki album here http://public.fotki....ado-speed-fest/

Ok, so I'm browsing Ebay for ideas on a classic car restoration... So far, I'm looking at '66-'70 Eldorado (top of list) Chevy Biscayne Olds 442 or holiday coupe Also, the Corvair caught my eye once I looked at pics of the engine...... how is it mounted? I cant seem to make sense of how the engine sits or how it is configured.... all I see is a pulley right in the middle with the shaft runing into the floor.... it seems like the engine is under the floor??? I also found one on Ebay that is Turbocharged????? did anyone know they made those? http://cgi.ebay.ca/Chevrolet-Corvair-Turbo...1QQcmdZViewItem

Corvette Racing's Future Depends on Aston Martin Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek | By GARY WATKINS Corvette Racing will confirm its continued participation in the American Le Mans Series--as soon as the Aston Martin Racing team does the same. GM road racing manager Steve Wesoloski even suggested that questions about Chevrolet's 2008 plans should be directed at Prodrive (which runs the Aston team) boss David Richards. "As soon as they announce they are coming back, we'll announce that we'll be back," he said. "I think you should ask that question to David Richards and George Howard-Chappell [who also runs Aston racing]." Wesloski and Corvette program manager Doug…

Never Heard That Excuse A fellow bought a new Corvette and was out on an interstate for a nice evening drive. The top was down, the breeze was blowing through what was left of his hair, and he decided to open her up. As the needle jumped up to 80 mph he suddenly saw a flashing red and blue light behind him. "There ain't no way they can catch a Corvette," he thought to himself and opened her up further. The needle hit 90, 100, 130 and finally 150 with the light still behind him. "What the hell am I doing?" he finally thought and pulled over. The cop came up to him, took his license without a word, and examined it and the car. "I've had a tough shift and this is my last …

Well,...there have been "rumors" of a new Stingray for awhile...but, yesterday I got a confirmation from a friend of mine at GM that indeed the STINGRAY is set to return. Based upon the solstice/sky platform, the new stingray will be introduced quite soon !!..or so it seems. GM has done several "production mock ups" of this model, which will expand the "CORVETTE" brand into a TWO Model line, & there may be More Corvette models in the future ! Another "tidbit" I was told is that GM is seriously considering bringing back the "GRAND PRIX"...possibly even the GTO !!! They may "return" as either Chevy or Buick models !!!!

What?! Did you expect a new car or something? Yeah, that's my $20k car. No. Really. It is! Just ask the Cashier at the Kwik-Fill in Clarion! So, the story goes as is. I'm riding around with a few friends and I'm aching for gas. I go to pull into the BP, when my one friend says to go to the Kwik-Fill because they have his favorite gummy fish. So I do. I get out and as soon as I walk inside I hear "Hey, is that a Cutlass or a Grand Prix". I answer. He says "How much? I'll buy it". I let out a little laugh and find the gummy fish my friend wanted. I walk up to pay as he continues to talk about it. He says "That car is worth alot of money, especially sitting on the origina…

WASHINGTON - From higher electric bills to more expensive gasoline, the possible economic cost of tackling global warming is driving the debate as climate change takes center stage in Congress. Legislation set for Senate debate Monday would require a reduction in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from power plants, refineries, factories and transportation. The goal is to cut heat-trapping pollution by two-thirds by midcentury. With gasoline at $4 per gallon and home heating and cooling costs soaring, it is getting harder to sell a bill that would transform the country's energy industries and — as critics will argue — cause energy prices to rise even more. So with all the discussions that we have had about various engines and how the auto companies are pushing to standardize engine families across the world to address the tax's imposed on size, this made me wonder about why GM has never built a complete family of V engines based on the tough durable Corvette Push Rod V8. I admit I do not have the engineering chops to dig into the fine details and invite those here that do to share with us what they think the HP, Torque and Efficiency would be like on a family of Push rod V engines. This would include my desire to know if a V2 could work as a efficient engine for the Subcompact market? My thoughts Base line Corvette DI V8…

This could be in "Other Guys," but I think that forum's better for discussion on news, not on opinions. Looking at the things Cadillac is coming out with, with exaggeration on the NG CTS, is it a stretch to say that BMW could easily start losing ground to its competitors? Okay, so the CTS is just one model, but figure in the coupe and wagon that will come out after the sedan and you're going to get a great vehicle. We all know the sedan will be sexy just judging by what we've seen of it, inside and out. It's got everything that Cadillac's Art and Science theme had and more. A very crisp design, the NG CTS could very easily steal many consumers from BMW's band of buyers. …

If you ask me why I come up with bone-headed ideas don't ask me why or where they come from... Last spring when I still had extra cash before another new Pontiac, new kitchen gadgets for the wife, and a son heading into college I looked into having our home professionally landscaped. Yeah well the two men father and son biz I had doing it had a slight problem the father fell off his roof and isn't doing so hot so now I am stuck landscaping. I have decent sized large front shrubs that need to go... The folks that were going to help landscape had a 2006 Silverado 2500HD with a Duramax and were going to "tow out the shrubs". Well I have got thinking and a hitch needs to go o…

Here's the lowdown: This fall, chances that I'll finally find something to drive are looking good. I'm hoping to God I'll manage to be driving a classic first-generation Pontiac Firebird, but I'm not going to bet the bank on it. I've considered some other options that fit my criteria (it has to be rear-drive) so I can have a backup plan just in case things don't turn out the way I have planned them to. I've considered more modern cars, too, and Cadillac's Catera has made it's way onto my list. The car is okay as is. But a thought crossed my mind: if I do end up driving one of these, could I graft the nose of the GTO onto a Catera? And with a little bit of fabrication a…

I am to the point where I think just the reverse, that while Asia builds some fine cars...esp Mazda and Hyundai....I am really liking American cars again and really actually want to buy a European car., So could I just have any love that anyone will offer up for American or European iron...please...just a little...?

The Cruze is being introduced to the US in 2010 and so is BAS II. GM has stated that BAS II is platform flexible, unlike BAS I. The press release and interviews about BAS II seemed to focus alot around the use of a turbo with the system. Could GM be "smart" enough to introduce BAS II with the Cruze? What about the Orlando? If the combined gas mileage for a 1.4L Turbo Cruze was 32 mpg, which is not unreasonable considering statements made by the company, than a Cruze with the 1.4L Turbo, with flexfuel capability, and BAS II could/should be 38 to 39 combined mpg. That would provide some major help to GMs EPA #s and would be great PR.

Well y'all, its two weeks to go till I'm a dad. Right now the wife is in the hospital being monitored due to her blood pressure being higher than "normal" They're also looking at her urine to make sure she's not leaching protien (which means probably toximia (sp?), if they find an excessive amount, they're going to induce, if not, she'll come home tomorrow and we'll have to wait for the next thing to happen. Right now I'm just at home about to catch some Z's with hopes of going to work tomorrow and having her come home tomorrow night. I'll try to keep everyone on here informed, and if any of you are religious, the prayers wouldn't hurt. But for right now, that's abou…

Sure, we've heard people spew ignorance about cars at the gas pump, but I think it's much worse on the internet. Read this little gem I found while looking for guitar tabs here. At least a few guys were trying to set the record straight.

I was thinking about what I should do with the Cobalt in the near future, and it got me thinking....which do you prefer, coupe or sedan? I like how useful a sedan is (esp with a little one), but I just like driving around in a coupe (guess that's why I have two )....just something about the feel.... Even though it would be a PITA to get a carseat in the back of the Balt, I'm thinking of just sticking it out with the Cobalt and paying it off...(not too far away) Besides, she has a sedan anyways....and if I pay off the Balt early, I could have room for a few payments...... :sign0200:

I got to thinking after all this B-pillar / hardtop b***hing going on... Why can't we have a coupe that has a B-pillar AND a roll down rear window? Has that been done, and if not, is it possible??

Found this story on Jalopnik and thought we should have a lively debate on if this is accurate or not. https://jalopnik.com/screw-you-carmakers-you-dont-get-to-ruin-the-word-co-1827480939 To quote the story: The word “coupe” comes from the French word “couper,” which means “to cut” because a coupe was a sort of “cut down” version of a car: smaller, leaner, lighter, sportier, shorter, and, significantly, less doors. As in two where the non-coupe version of the car would have had four. Do you go with the change in definition of what a Coupe is or do you still agree that this is a true coupe?

So, I'm somewhat a fan of what Chevy has done with the HHR - tasteful retro in a useful package. I think they should build on that... First, the idea of a "Heritage" line of cars. The HHR can be billed as the first one (and works well since it stands for "Heritage High Roof." Then try one more. If that's a hit, try another. Essentially having some semi-specialty products in the line of Scion, but without the need for an actual new brand (just a "series"), and with actual product heritage to draw from and inspire people. Granted, some do not love retro design - that's why these are nitch products (they might command a better profit margin that way anyway...). First…

Just a little reminder why these hideous things sell. What's funny is as I walked towards my uncle's house I saw the car and said "aw man that thing's ugly...". I'm just glad I made no comments when I went in to the house. I could have offended her. But think about it. What other car company sells a vehicle with an interior that can be hosed down? GM had the Envoy XUV, for a good $20k more than the Element sells for. They also had the Aztek, which was a similar concept, both in form and in function. And pick-up trucks, well, in general it's not a good idea to keep a dog in the outer compartment of a moving vehicle.

Wall Street Journal -- Ford vs. Honda Ford, Honda Cross Paths On Sales of SUVs CR-V Passes the Once-Dominant Explorer July 23, 2007 Deb Nison is a data warehouse developer in Portland, Ore., who likes to go snowboarding on nearby Mt. Hood. Once upon a time, she drove a Chevy TrailBlazer, and later a Subaru Forester. Today, she owns a 2007 Honda CR-V. "I like the way it handles," she says. She appreciates feeling "ridiculously safe" in a vehicle with standard head protecting airbags. And for an SUV, she says, it gets "decent mileage" -- about 23 miles per gallon so far around town. Ms. Nison is just one reason why the Honda CR-V is, as of June 30, America's best-sel…

As some of you may know, I busted my oil pan about a year ago on Tampa's infamously decrepit Kennedy Blvd. After calling a local shop who has always given me good service, I was quoted a price of $1200 to replace the oil pan because it was necessary to remove the engine and much of the transaxle to do it. First I thought they were ridiculously high, but after browsing the Aurora forums, I found that was a shockingly reasonable price given the day-and-a-half's worth of labor needed to do the job. People there have been quoted anywhere from $1000-4000 to do it. Some shops wouldn't even attempt it. I set a new record for oil pan repair today by calling the local Cadillac de…

#1 Take decent pictures - preferrably not ones that I have to run through an FBI image enhancing lab and piece together like a puzzle. #2 Be reasonable - Just because you spent $6000 putting $h!ty equipment on a $300 car doesn't mean it is therefore worth $6300. #3 Think within means - People who shop Ferrari don't shop Craigslist #4 Keep it real - Don't try to sell woefully phony cars. #5 Know what you're selling - If you don't remember what kind of car you're offering, go out and read the name off of it. #6 Speak English - When selling a car to a large audience, don't use stupid cliquey terms that you and your other four broke, unemployed…

Option # 1: 1986 Chevrolet Caprice Brougham...2 door. 86k miles. $1550. 1 owner, no rust, never driven in winter. 5.0 auto loaded for an '86. This is a VERY clean car. The guy went so far as to tell me about the two defects on this car: the chrome trim inside the steering wheel is checked...and there is a small scuff on the fender that has rust bubbles starting on. Also it may need exhaust soon (still original!). Selling to get $$$ to rebuild the motor in thier one owner 1970 chevrolet heavy half. Option # 2: 1991 Camaro RS T-top car, 100k miles. http://maine.craigslist.org/car/679606893.html This ad is for a car he "found in the woods," meaning it doesn't belong to him. He also does not even say that these woods are on property that he may own. And he wants to charge you to look at it. Then what? If you decide you like it he'll sell you the car he doesn't own and therefore has zero legal right to sell? (all this aside from the fact that the car looks like it was hit by a locomotive and then sat in the ocean for 40 years) And people from Maine wonder why the rest of the country thinks they're all mentally retarded inbreds and make fun of them!

I can't take it anymore. I have to get a new computer and I need it soon. This POS desktop of mine is hinging on my last nerve: the slowness, the loudness, the slowness, the ancient (by today's standards) monitor, the slowness, the fact that if I so much as touch the tower, the computer will inexplicably black out and require a hard reset (I'm not kidding) and did I mention the slowness? Then there's the laptop with a dead keyboard, dead touchpad, several dead LEDs, and a line of dead pixels in the corner of the screen. Plus, it's thick and heavy as hell, the battery life sucks (which wouldn't be that much of an issue if the AC jack worked properly...which it doesn't) a…

Lately the Geo Prizm has been very slow to accelerate, and all mashing the gas does is cause the engine to make a lotta noise So here we were, last Monday, and my girlfriend and I were driving home from paying a bill. We're about a mile from home, and at a stop light. All of a sudden we both smell something burning, when the light turns green she tries to go but the car hardly moves. I tell her to pull into the nearest parking lot, and we do going like 5 mph. We pull in, I pop the hood, and there's some smoke coming from the tranny. I figure the clutch went. So in hundred+ heat we walk about halfway home until her aunt comes by and pics us up, and the car is towed to a …

Well he let my sister drive out here on the dirtroads, she did fine other than shes super bad with the clutch. And after she was done my brother mentioned driving into town (20 miles) and do some "Geocaching", so my dad let me drive and ito town on the highway and i did fine until we reached town. So the new Mega Cab needed some gas so we pulled into the gas station. And at the end of the Gas Station theyre were 2 poles like most gas stations. And as i was pulling out thats when the trouble began. my dad told me just go straight and even to the left maybe. We…

I had a friend whose house was foreclosed on a couple weeks ago and he has been crashing in my guest room since then. I would love to kick him out because he is really annoying, but he really doesn't have anywhere else to go. He's going to pay my utilities until he leaves, so thats nice, but I'd rather jsut pay it myself and be able to run across the house naked whenever I please.

Its finally winter weather time. Its about 40 and windy after a rainy day. Tomorrows high is supposed to be 39. Going out anywhere is absolutely out of the question, cold weather puts a damper on just about everything. So we're coping the best way we know how, a fire going in the fireplace, some pizza and, soon enough, a viewing of Anchorman, because it remains the best movie ever made. Is there any better way to kick off 6 months of cabin fever?

Well we finally got our yearly ice storm. So far its only about a quarter of an inch, but still, bad things happen. I was going to get something out of the back of my car and slipped on the ice, hit my back, kinda hurt but not too bad. The drive home was interesting, the LeSabre did better than most other cars on the road, mostly because I'm a better driver than most others. A guy in an F-350 flew by me on the highway (I was going about 30, he had to have been doing 60) then noticed traffic was at a standstill in front of him and slid off the road. There was a FWD Regal in front of me that also noticed too late that traffic up ahead was stopped, so he slammed on his …
