Saturday afternoon, I stopped to get gas before I left town for Freeport IL to see some friends for dinner. The gallons (after almost a week of driving) was 7.729 for $17.00. On the way back home late Saturday night, I thought about getting gas, but decided I'd just get gas today (Sunday) after I did some running around. So, today, I stopped at Walmart, stopped at a no-touch car wash to get the '87 MC LS washed, drove a bit to help dry it off a bit more, then stopped for gas. After I got back home and started inputting the figures into my "gas book", I was stunned to discover that the gallons and dollar amount were exactly the same as yesterday's ... 7.729 gallons for…

Ugh, it was the worst day ever. Thursday was a very good day for me, personally, and then comes Friday. It's like... Woah, WTF?! I was in Butler hanging out with a friend and I stayed the night, figuring I would just drive home in the morning. This all starts out with me getting very little sleep. Needless to say, I stayed up a bit later than I would have liked. Once half awake, I was ready to be on my way. Walking outside, I see the Cutlass has a flat tire, right as it starts to rain. Oh joy. So I went about all that. Got the jack out, tried to work the stupid thing (I have never used a more complicated jack than the one that came with the Cutlass, I swear), jack it up, …

Friday was my first day working at the Simoniz (Wash Depot inc.) car wash and detail center in Nashua NH, and boy, I've never seen so many dumb people in my life. For you to understand these first few stories, you have to be able to visualize how the car wash, or at least the track system, works. fairly self explanitory, the person drives their car up (with us guiding them) so the drivers side wheel is in the track between the guard rail, then when we hit the "program" button on the computer, one of the orange roller things pops up and pushes the car through the carwash. First, I cannot believe how many people wind up driving ON or OVER the guardrail thing. Not lik…

So, now that I am a "product specialist" for Jeep, I get people asking me lost of stuff about Jeeps and it's a lot of fun. I really realize how much stuff there is to remember about all the different models. But today, I had a lady come up to me and ask me where the Oldsmobile display was at. I was kinda taken aback and I wanted to tell here that it didn't exist anymore, but I just pointed her in the direction of the GM display.

1973 Starlight Black Pontiac GTO 400 CID The owner whom orginally got the car lives in my town of Dubuque got this car new at a Pontiac dealer in my town. (Whom I never go to.) Still it is a neat piece and is in great shape with PHS and only 82K on the clock. The buy-it-now of $12,500 seems pretty fair. So what do all you think? If I had the money and an agreeable wife I would get it. Even though it isn't my favorite year of GTO still it is pretty sweet. I love the color combo and if it was a floor shift and 455 it would be even better. Not that a 400 is a pooch and it has a bench seat... Don't give me any ideas...

I didn't see the price, but it might be worth looking at....from what I saw (there was quite a bit of traffic), but it looked to be in good shape..... check it out! So it looks like maybe a 4th car on the horizon as soon as this summer over here.... Short Listed to 1996-1999 DeVille or 1995-1999 Aurora... I've got to ask, I've heard some things about the N* and Aurora V8 that cast doubt on durability. I know that they can sometimes burn alot of oil, but what else is your experience with these cars... Do you think that If I found a DeVille with like 70K Kms... that It would be wise to buy... or is the G-Body a better idea? Another thing is the gas... Could I get away with 89 octane in these cars, or 87 Octane with an Octane/Quality Additive? Also, if I was to get a K-Body Deville, or Aurora what things would I want a mechanic…

full story here Frank Oresnik is on the verge of making history driving his old standby — the pickup truck he says is about to pass the 1 million mile mark. Oresnik took the 1991 Chevrolet Silverado to the Oil Ex-Change Quick Lube in Medford on Thursday for what he expects will be its last oil change and tuneup before hitting the magic number. He said the truck is 1,200 miles from a million, and once he hits the mark he will retire the vehicle. "I feel almost like the longtime NFL player as he goes into his last training camp knowing this is the end," Oresnik said. He credits proper maintenance and a good measure of luck for allowing the truck to rack up so many…

Coming home tonight I saw a very strange CTS at a light...white, but the hood and front fenders were flat black, the stock fascia, grille and headlights gone---replaced with a large black flat, thick steel bumper and a bull bar (looked like something from an off-roader). Round headlights and fog lights bolted to the top of the bumper. Black steel wheels. Looked very mean and serious.. I should have done a u-ee and followed it.. it was dark, but it was at a well-lit intersection..... (and I only had one glass of wine with dinner, so I'm not going nutters). Maybe something specially built for the Dept. of Homeland Security (Urban Assault Vehicle).

I see those commericials from time to time. You know, the commericials promising that if you buy a car from Police Auctions and so forth, you can get a car from $500 bucks and up. Now, I don't know if I would go that route, but the word "police" got me thinking about a car...to be more specific, a 1994 - 1996 Chevy Caprice 9C1. The same car that Johnny Law used (and is still using somewhere) to write John Public a speeding ticket. Why the 9C1? Well, truth is, I'd settle for a Classic from that year range. And God knows I'd be happy with an Impala SS. Who wouldn't? I guess I'm singling out the 9C1 is because it has a heavy-duty suspension along with engine and tranny twe…

My 62 year old uncle made a new purchase about a month ago I found out. We don't see them too much do I didn't hear about it until we were at their house for Christmas this evening. I really wish I would have had a camera with so that I could have snapped some pics. It is black on top, and cinnamon on the bottom (a mix of orange and maroon). Foose wheels, revised front and rear fascia, new hood, roll bar. Maybe you guys don't think it is as cool as me. I'm a mustang guy at…

Even though Olds has been dead for a few years now, I still feel like I see a ton of them on the roads. Today I was driving to work and had an Olds Alero in front of me and an Olds 88 behind me, with an Olds Cutlass a few cars ahead of me in the other lane. Did Olds really sell that many cars in its last few years? Or maybe it is just a regional thing; the former Buick-Olds-Cadillac dealer (now Bu/Cad/GMC) has a pretty large store and does a lot of business here.

There was a time, at its height, that GM owned around 60% of the vehicle market in the United States. There was talk of government intervention to prevent GM from becoming too big. My question to the group is: Let's say it is 2010, and GM still commanded such huge market share. What would we be driving? What manufacturers would be present here? What would competitors' lineups look like, with GM holding such influence over the overall market?

Unbeknown to me until about half an hour ago, my dad apparently now owns a 1999 Buick LeSabre with 90,000 miles, red exterior and gray leather interior, pretty loaded. It was my mom telling me this so I have no idea what trim it is...she's supposed to be sending pictures soon. My dad had been driving a '92 Olds Eighty-Eight for about 10 years and apparently it has finally kicked the bucket at 180,000 miles. He's been having more problems with it over the last year, so it was probably time to go, sadly. It's too bad because we just repainted it a few years ago and the condition of the car's exterior is still in really good shape with no rust or dings. I wish he would'…

I've always liked fruit snacks since I was a little kid, but we rarely had them because they were always so expensive. Even today, I rarely buy them because you pay $2-3 for a few little pouches that contain like 8 pieces per pouch. Have you become a fan of a TV show AFTER its original run? Or, have you started watching a TV show after a few seasons have already been aired? For me ... in some cases, I've missed TV shows because I watch something else in that time slot. In others, it is because the show originally ran when I was "too young". Most-recently it is because I'm tired of giving shows a chance only for them to quickly disappear, like ABC's "Eli Stone". The newest "old" show I've started watching is former FOX staple "That '70s Show". I started watching because reruns are on late weeknights here in Chicagoland AND seeing Kurtwood Smith (Red Foreman on "That '70s Show") on CBS' new com…

Maureen McCormick was Marcia Brady, for you younger members who may not know. In the 70s and 80s, that look was an LA mainstay, practically a dime a dozen. Nowadays, in LA, you don't see anybody like that. So where are they? The same is true in Portland. In the last 10 years, WASPY pissy little Portland (I hate Northwesterners) doesn't look as white and pissy as it did 10 years ago. I know where the Maureen McCormicks are. In Chico and places like that, which is where I happen to be today en route to Sacramento. The third tier tiny cities of the West are where those people apparently now reside, unless they live in the spendy neighborhoods of the urban areas the…

I really want Gran Turismo 4, but they never release the GT series for the PC so scratch that. I was looking around for some PC racing game that have some semblence of realism like the GT series, and came across GTR Evolution and Need for Speed Pro Street. GTR looks like a decent game, but I'm more interested in muscle and production car racing and GTR is basically about high-end exotics and racers. Need for Speed Pro Street seems to have a great range of cars, but it seems to suffer in the realism department. I was watching a video on YouTube of a drag race, and people are hitting quarter miles in 5 seconds with old GTOs and 240SX's. I've only played Need for Spe…

I learned on January 14th that Ford has pulled our Lincoln-Mercury franchise as part of its consolidation effort to sell all its products together at one dealership. The owner of our dealership has told us that our store will go on selling used cars, and that all departments, except for new cars of course, will proceed as usual. FoMoCo apparently paid a handsome sum to buy us out of the franchise. So everything's up in the air at the moment. Just one more reason for me not to sleep at night. Our used car department has been going like gangbusters since a new manager was hired several months ago. His team was able to sell 80 cars last month, with a goal to reach and …

I'm going through my university's study abroad program; I'll be staying with a host family in Rennes and living a more cultured life for a few weeks. I probably won't have Internet over there, so hopefully I don't miss anything major.

Does anyone know what 2014 GMC Sierra is on display at the Chicago Auto Show? The Philadelphia Auto Show had a Stealh Gray Metallic on display, while mystik posted a Quicksilver one on display at the Houston Auto Show. I believe an Onxy Black All Terrain Sierra was on display at the NAIAS, not sure if any other colors were shown there.

My bike has been hanging in my garage since I moved to PA in 2003... unused. It's a Wal-Mart special (shows how old it is, I have boycotted Wal-Mart for years, I think I bought it circa 1998) Pacific Strike 21 speed. It has never been left out in the weather, so it's in great shape. Tires hold air, don't appear too dry or cracked. Butt, it's too high off the ground, and I don't need that many gears. I want to get back into bike riding again, but this time around I am interested in a relaxed riding position and only 3 speeds... a comfort bike that can take on moderate hills. Anyone have any exPIRRience or recommendations? TIA.

Jordan Haskins is not going quietly into the night. After some soul-searching, the Saginaw native busted multiple times for breaking into government vehicles and masturbating inside them is re-entering the race to fill a state House seat. Haskins, a 24-year-old Republican, entered the race to become a Michigan state representative to fill a state seat, but his arrest record for numerous "cranking" incidents came to the surface immediately after he put his name in the hat. Let's revisit what cranking is: "Jordan would remove the spark plug wires and sit in the car and masturbate while the motor was sparking and making noises," the police report states. …

What are the US regulations regarding the size and placement of marker lights? Many Euro cars have front side markers high and to the rear of the front fenders, do they have to add something in the front to meet regs? I'm wondering how flexible the design parameters can be for these lights in the US market.

Most of you probably remember my Buddy Sean's 1969 Camaro. I posted some pics of it after he dropped an early 70s big block (454) into it and a 4-speed Super-T10 trans. Well, he's run into some bad luck and now as of 4:00am this morning we put the car on eBay for sale. Check it out and spread the word. 1969 Camaro SS built as Z/28 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-C...sspagenameZWDVW

I'm a skeptic when it comes to UFOs, but if these are faked then they are DAMN good because they look like something out of a Hollywood movie. They were caught by two different people at two different locations on August 6th, 2007. First video with comments http://www.metacafe.com/watch/761872/ufo_haiti/ First and second videos http://mienfoks.blogspot.com/2007/08/ufos-...t-on-video.html

Me and a few friends (Sixty8, speedingpenguin, etc.) have been toying with the idea of going in on a pre-war vehicle (car, truck, panel truck, doesn't matter; just has to strike us) together and making a low-budget hot rod out of it for quite some time. We want it to be something unique and different, i.e. not a Ford or Chevy or Dodge. Recently I stumbled onto something that certainly fits that bill, but it is incredibly rare. Not like Duesenberg rare in terms of value or desirability, but something still incredibly rare. It's beat to death, rotted to death, but still there enough to be saved with a bajillion hours of metalwork. Its original chassis with all its running g…

Yup so I got home just a while ago and checked my mailbox. Inside was a nice sized envelope from Chevrolet. "Cool!" I thought as I hurried into the house to open it. Sure enough, it is a foldout on the new Silverado. But... it only has pictures of the crewcab (well, there's one x-ray pic of an extended cab, but...) It strikes me as kind of cheesy. It feels like GM is cramming the super-expensive crewcab down our throats. What about those of us who would rather have a regular cab, or even extended? I am put off by this. I am trying to be patient, but dammit, I thought the other bodystyles would be out in November... and still no prices at Chevy.com, except for cr…

Many brands are now featuring what I call the "laptop left open" look atop the center stack of newer vehicles. Mazda is doing this, and some German marques are doing this, too. It appears that the new Ford Focus will also feature it. Mazda 6 (?) BMW 3 series 2019 Ford Focus The Malibu has it, sort of, but it looks fairly well integrated. Latest Malibu I do not like most of them. I can handle it on the Malibu. It may be convenient but, in most cases, it looks ugly ... to me.

Here's something the gamers on here might find interesting: $17500 for very rare game cartridge Think $60 video games are too expensive? You won't hear any argument from us, but you might from JJ Hendricks, a collector who just paid a clinically insane $17,500 for an obscure NES game from 1990. The game in question is an ultra-rare, gold-colored version of Nintendo World Championships, a cartridge specially produced for use in a Nintendo-sponsored gaming contest. According to Wikipedia only 26 were created, and Hendricks calls it the "Holy Grail" of video game collectors. The game itself has a time limit of just 6 minutes and 21 seconds and consists of three short…

Well, I did. I must say, I was/am pissed, dissapointed, extremely shocked (yet slightly expected based off of how people vote, but never actally expected it.) For those of you who do watch American Idol and missed the show: Melinda Doolittle was dismissed. For those who don't: Melinda Doolittle is a 29-year-old (previous) backup singer. She has gone throughout the entire competition with only one 'not-so-hot' comment. Other than that, she was unbelievable! I honestly am really hating Blake, considering that he was the reason Melinda left, and here is the reason: Blake is from Seattle, and beatboxes. His town is obviously well-know and has a large population. So th…

You gotta hand it to McCain, he doesn't do things half way. While Obama may have been paling around with washed up former terrorist funded by Republicans, , the head of McCain's transition team was a lobbyist (*gasp*) for a genocidal dictator.

Rest assured whenever the guy is short on attention he has to rear that freakishly ugly mug of his and expose us all to his incurable diarrhea of the mouth. Michael Moore Posthumously Hates Roger, Wants GM To Die Monday, June 1st, 2009 Goodbye, GM ...by Michael Moore I write this on the morning of the end of the once-mighty General Motors. By high noon, the President of the United States will have made it official: General Motors, as we know it, has been totaled. As I sit here in GM's birthplace, Flint, Michigan, I am surrounded by friends and family who are filled with anxiety about what will happen to them and to the town. WASHINGTON - The Pentagon's top general expressed regret Tuesday that he called homosexuality immoral, a remark that drew a harsh condemnation from members of Congress and gay advocacy groups. In a newspaper interview Monday, Marine Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had likened homosexual acts to adultery and said the military should not condone it by allowing gays to serve openly in the armed forces. In a statement Tuesday, he said he should have focused more in the interview on the Defense Department policy about gays — and "less on my personal moral views." He did not offer an apology, something that had been demanded by gay rights groups. "Ge…
