Well, my CV axle boot was torn on my 500 (not sure why) but they scheduled the service but didn't have the part. So, I got a loaner for a day. Enterprise dude picked me up in a Mazda6 but I made sure to do anything in my power to not get that steaming pile of turd hot carl to take home. So I asked and got the Magnum. I could have got a Grand Prix (should have) and the damn Kia Sedona got back in the lot just as I signed the papers Anyways, I'll try and sum it up tomorrow after I turn it in. It's a 4 speed v6. I'm gonna read Bob's 300 review too and see if there are any similarities. One thing I can say with certainly is that the interior is ABYSMAL. Terrible. G…

Chrysler rolls out special edition of PT Cruiser Josee Valcourt | Link to Original Article @ The Detroit News ROYAL OAK -- Chrysler today rolled out its newest special-edition PT Cruiser with design cues that pay tribute to the famous Sunset Boulevard. The latest edition, unveiled in the parking lot of Duggan's Irish Pub on Woodward Avenue, joins the Route 66 and Pacific Coast highway versions, which were launched the previous two years about the time of the Dream Cruise. The new PT Cruiser will hit the market this summer. Chrysler will produce 500 units of the 2008 Sunset Boulevard model, which will come in amber hue and will be accented in chrome. The manufacturer…

I was just wondering if the Grand Chaerokee interior is as bad as the reviews have said. I mean early reviews said it had soft touch materials, but more recent ones said everything is as hard as a rock. Does anyone own or been inside one that knows? I'm just curious I guess if there's anything besides the seats that are soft.

U.S. sales of the Chrysler 300 surpassed the 300,000 mark in April 2006, making it the quickest Chrysler brand vehicle to reach the milestone in 25 months. This comes on the heels of another Chrysler brand achievement: global sales of the Chrysler PT Cruiser exceeded one million units in March. http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/060427/deth022.html?.v=50 Well, so much for the people on here that were so sure that the 300's sales would tank after the first year......and also, so much for the people who said retro and the PT Cruiser were dead!

Fiat Chrysler posted a record $2.3 billion in operating profit in North America for third quarter 2019. Must of that was attributed to maintaining a firm hold on costs and customers opting for higher-trim level vehicles. Margin for the quarter in North America climbed to 10.6 percent, an all time high. Overall, North American revenue was flat at $21.3 billion and shipments down 11 percent. Globally, adjusted earnings rose 5 percent while revenue declined 1 percent. Global shipments were also down 9 percent. Even with all of that good news, one time charges added up to a $200 million loss, including $795 million for a settlement over the diesel scandal, and a …

I was able to check out a Caravan as well as a Town & Country last week. For a more extensive review commenting on it's minivan values, see Empowah's thoughts on it, here. Starting off, I found the design to be decent; lacking, but not a complete turn off as certain other minivans are. The front ends are much more upright than the previous generation and is squared off. Proportionally, the Caravan's fascia is more even, and certainly better looking, than the T&C's with its large grill. The headlights of both are more horizontal and angular, as well as being the most unique from each other, than before. The midsection of the body and greenhouse is probably the cl…

Unloved as they are, let's give Chrysler's K Car its due. Thirty years ago, the K represented a sea change in the Pentastar lineup. Not only did the K and its derivatives return Chrysler to the black, the architecture proved versatile enough to underpin basically the entire lineup, from minivans to LeBarons to turbocharged Daytonas. Southern California now has an official K Car club – fitting, as that's likely the only place you could find an early '80s Chrysler without lots of rust. Club membership is open to the entire swath of cars that share this similar architecture, known as the "EEK" models, so you won't get kicked out for showing up in a Caravelle instead of an Ar…

0-Day 4-Door Wrangler Supply? Jeep dealer Chuck Eddy in Austintown, Ohio, was used to waiting until spring for Jeep Wrangler customers to show up. When autumn came, sales of the old two-door Wrangler would pretty much dry up. That's because the previous Wrangler, sold with two doors only, was a "box on shocks," a rough and ready vehicle with a drop-down top and side windows made of plastic. It was noisy and the ride bouncy, but it could go anywhere. Wrangler drivers got closer to the elements than drivers of other vehicles. All that changed when the 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited four-door arrived last fall. These days Eddy has zero days' supply -- in the midst of a …

After learning that General Motors would be disbanding its High Performance Vehicle Operations team to focus on less performance-oriented projects, our thoughts naturally turned towards Ford's SVT and Chrysler's SRT groups. Would Detroit's other automakers follow GM's lead and kill off their fellow speed divisions? Apparently not. Ford has gone on record stating that the SVT program will continue on in its current capacity and now Chrysler has announced that it will continue to develop SRT versions of its volume sellers. In a posting on Chrysler's Red Letter Dodge blog, Steve Bartoli, Chrysler's vice president for global product planning, had a few choice comments re…

I can only hope that there will be a Dodge Aspen Volare edition. http://www.chrysler.com/aspen/ now, I know that it is merely a rebodied Durango, but it really is kinda nice looking. Stratus out, Avenger in at Dodge Name change may not be enough to battle Asians By Brett Clanton / The Detroit News Chrysler is expected to yank the Stratus name from its Dodge midsize sedan when the car's replacement arrives in early 2007. The new vehicle will be called Avenger, a moniker last used on a Dodge coupe that was killed off in 2000, according to sources familiar with the situation. Chrysler officials declined to confirm the name change, which comes as the DaimlerChrysler AG unit is moving to toughen up the image of Dodge cars to mesh with the bold marketing of Dodge trucks. Analysts say the car, even with a new name, will face challenge…

Dodge Avenger Concept Makes Bold, Powerful Style Statement Paris, Sep 20, 2006 - Dodge is looking to spin the global D-segment with the all-new Dodge Avenger concept — a bold, styling statement that does away with the idea that a functional mid-size car is automatically boring. Avenger’s Dodge branded styling makes a definite statement in the D-segment, commanding attention and evoking attributes that define the Dodge brand: bold, powerful, capable and street smart. This Avenger concept, finished in a striking Inferno Red, will appeal to car buyers around the world who need the practicality, functionality and fuel efficiency of a mid-size sedan, but want more, incl…

Chrysler 300C gets slight revamping for 2008 Even though we caught this Chrysler going through a fast-food drive-thru, it doesn't appear that this facelift is super-sized. A slightly revamped 300C is expected to roll off the production line in the third quarter of 2007, but it appears that the majority of the update will take place in the rear of the car. MSNBC - Newsweek Business - commentary Can Chrysler Turn Itself Around? With a new management team in place, the automaker is primed for change. And some of its big-gulp SUVs appear destined to become roadkill. WEB-EXCLUSIVE COMMENTARY By Keith Naughton Sept. 12, 2007 - Bob Nardelli prowled the stage of the Detroit Athletic Club like a caged animal. Made famous by Michael Moore's documentary "Roger & Me," this was the same fusty, old venue that ejected Moore as he hunted down then GM chairman Roger Smith. But last Friday, all eyes were focused on Nardelli. The new 59-year-old CEO of Chrysler was out to show that he'd brought some of the intensity he learned as …

First Look: 2011 Chrysler 300 Prepare for Glory: Our 2005 Car of the Year Returns With Sharper Duds and a lot More Swagger December 03, 2010 / By Ed Loh / Photography by Brian Vance The golden crest is gone, but the Chrysler name is still spelled out and surrounded by a pair of wings atop the front-grille frame. The eggcrate grille has been swapped for one composed of sculpted horizontal slats, as seen on the Chrysler 200 and Town & Country (and, unfortunately, the Hyundai Sonata). Projector-beam headlights have evolved to incorporate must-mean-it's-luxury LEDs. Although the windshield is more steeply raked, the upright proportions, boxy roofline, and pur…

DETROIT -- Today Dodge will show a face-lifted 2007 Durango that goes on sale in August. Engineers also have prepped the SUV for a hybrid engine that will be offered in the 2008 model year. The reworked 2007 model will be shown at the Dallas Auto Show on Wednesday. The fascia, grille, hood, headlamps, fenders and wheels are redone. Ten features are being added, including an electronic stability program, tire pressure monitoring system, rear park assist and a one-touch lane-change signal, Dodge says. Durango sales are off 39.4 percent to 20,090 units in the first quarter of 2006, compared with the same period a year ago. Continued at Dodge gives Durango a face-lift, …

Dodge Hornet gets the go-ahead Link to Original Article @ AutoCar Chrysler will shortly announce that it is going ahead with the launch of its Dodge Hornet supermini, which it will develop in collaboration with Chinese company Chery. The car could be revealed in close-to-production guise at this autumn’s Frankfurt motor show. The Hornet was first shown as a concept at the Geneva motor show in 2006, where it was widely admired for its tough-looking style. Chrysler plans to enter the crowded European supermini segment with the one range, resisting the temptation to launch a Chrysler-branded version alongside, as it has done with the Mondeo-class Dodge Avenger and Chry…

The Dodge Caravan is one of the vehicles that helped saved Chrysler Corporation in the 1980s. Introduced in November 1983, the Caravan, along with the Plymouth Voyager, was based on the K-Car platform championed by Lee Iaccoca. Chrysler recently re-introduced the Voyager under the Chrysler brand as the low cost entry into the minivan market. The Voyager is a low cost version of the Chrysler Pacifica Minivan that was introduced in 2016. Dodge continued production of the Grand Caravan as the low-cost model while the Pacifica aims for higher end customers. The Voyager, starting at $26,958, will come in three trims, L, LX, and LXi, the last one reserved for fleet buyer…

As the Ford Falcon and current Holden Commodore head off into the sunset, Australian police departments are wondering what should replace them. V6 models were used for patrol duty, while V8 models would be used for pursuits. One possibility is the Chrysler 300. “With the going away of Australian manufacturing, from potential fleet customers we’ve had a lot of enquires for the 300,” said Steve Zanlunghi, head of FCA Australia to Car Advice. “Specifically we’ve had the police come to us, asking for a bid, if it would make sense.” Zanlinghi didn't mention whether the police were interested in the V6 or the 300 SRT with a 6.4L V8. Our possible guess is that the…

I actually just got back from the dealer. Here's how it went: I went to the dealer around 4pm today. After talking with the service technician, he recommended that I leave it be for now because it would got 90 bucks an hour and it's a 2 hour or so job for a couple of bulbs. He was pretty honest with me. He told me they'd fix it if I wanted but it's pretty expensive for a couple of bulbs. As long as it's readable it's fine. He also gave me a discount card for oil changes. Basically it's a dollar off the first oil change, and a dollar is added until the 5th one...which is free. Anyway, I walk into the showroom and see the salesman (whose name is Eric). We greet and talk …

I just got a look at the new Sebring while driving around the Bay Area. I saw the ribs on the hood and the chunky (Altima-ish) rear greenhouse and super short trunk, not to mention the all too visible gas tank. Good God! While the previous Sebring / Stratus were not the pinnacle of automotive design, they were at least proportioned and likeable. Then, let's add a few more "grandiose" designs to their stable: - the entire truck line with that bulbous grille which says I need to buy my testosterone because I don't have it within, or for some guys (and maybe girls) who do have it but need an exaggerated amount - the 300 and the Magnum - again, bombastic proportions …

Shocker: The Jeep Compass' Stumbling Start As Chrysler dealers offer discounts on 2006 and existing 2007 models, they compete with the Compass, launched in July. The discounting may have slowed the Compass launch a little, although Chrysler says it is pleased so far. Early signs are that the Compass is off to a slower start than the Dodge Caliber. The average transaction price has dropped from $22,467 when the Compass was launched to $21,534 as of Sept. 24, according to the Power Information Network. In contrast, transaction prices for the Caliber have risen from $17,059 at launch in March to $18,276 as of Sept. 24. Read "Slow Start" @ Autoweek

It was in late January when Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' CEO Sergio Marchionne announced that the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart would "run their course”. A diplomatic way of saying we wouldn't see a second-generation of either model. But Marchionne mentioned that both models could continue on if a partner was found. Motor Trend has learned that FCA is currently with potential partners, although who isn't mentioned. “There are discussions going on now. I think we will find a solution. We continue to talk. It’s both a technical solution and an economic one. We need to find a solution that works economically,” Marchionne said to Motor Trend on the floor of the Geneva Mot…

I went to a factory sponsored Ride and Drive Event today for Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep. It was like 2 miles from my house, so I'm like, 'sure'. Since I was able to check out a lot of the Chrysler Corp models and sit in them and drive them (albeit in very short low speed courses), it sure shaped some of my opinions on their products. It would be hard to satisfy the forum gods and get it all in one post so I will try to keep my initial posts to this one and two more and then if anyone has comments.

Link Fiat CEO warns Chrysler unions: cut costs or we walk REUTERS April 15, 2009 By Gilles Castonguay MILAN (Reuters) - Fiat SpA's chief executive, facing a two-week deadline to work out a partnership with Chrysler LLC, warned the troubled U.S. carmaker's unions he would ditch the idea unless they agreed to cut labor costs. In a clear message to U.S. and Canadian unions, Sergio Marchionne told Wednesday's Globe and Mail newspaper a deal on the partnership had only a 50-50 chance of succeeding because of lack of progress in talks with union leaders. "Absolutely we are prepared to walk. There is no doubt in my mind," Marchionne said in an interview posted on t…

Chrysler's SEMA surprise: 392 HEMI Dodge Challenger Super Stock While in the past automakers have always used SEMA to display the individual customizations that can be applied to their production vehicles, Dodge is doing something different this year. For what it claims to be the first time ever, the company has unveiled a concept vehicle that has been customized specifically for the SEMA show. Based on the Dodge Challenger Concept that debuted at the 2006 Detroit auto show, the Dodge Challenger Super Stock Concept is a one-off concept built to commemorate the original HEMI 392 engine, as well as showcase Mopar's new 392 HEMI crate engine. The new 392 can be ordered in o…

Seriously I don't get it. Dodge gets the Caliber on a pretty much all new chassis (I know it is shared w/ Mitus but they don't really count since they sell so few cars in the US). Jeep gets 2 versions of this chassis and yet the once highly successful and well selling PT/GT Cruisers are left rotting on the old Neon chassis. What gives? Is Chrysler getting advice from Ford?

Autoweek has a gallery up of the full line of Dodge Challengers. Here's a link to a pic of a blue V6 Challenger. Not bad atall, imo. My only problem is, no manual transmission with the 3.5L V6.

I was driving along the other day, and I noticed that the Calgary Police Service is replacing their Impalas, and to a smaller extent, their Crown Vics with Dodge Chargers... from what I saw, it looked real mean with a reinforced bumper, steel wheels and a blacked out grille (Sorry, no pics). This has led me to ask the question- is Dodge winning back favour in the police market... How have these cars caught on elsewhere?

Some of the SRT8 cars have had poor times at the tracks when they came out compared to what was expected, but the R/T cars don't seem to have the same issue.. One poster- Dodgetony - Bought a new Challenger R/T 5.7 Hemi automatic on Thursday, raced it on Sunday, BONE STOCK, and it ran a 1.94 60', 13.12 @ 108+.... Those *SHOULD* be SRT8 type numbers... Here's the actual car, he's from Ohio

The information about the Caliber just keeps pouring out of the Dodge website, it's making me want the vehicle more and more. The model that I built on the website came to a total of 17,500 which is 2.5k less than the vehicles I want (Mazda 3s hatchback, Chevrolet HHR 2LT). Not a bad deal. So has anyone heard anything as far as the release dates, actual size comparisons, interior pictures?? I've heard from some people that it's actually a little smaller than the Neon which is kinda hard to believe.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Featu...rticleId=107108 Dodge was noncommittal about the production prospects of the Dodge Nitro concept when it first appeared at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show, but nobody was fooled. It looked ready for production and our latest spy pictures prove that the 2007 Dodge Nitro is headed for showrooms. The pictures clearly show that little has changed on the Jeep Liberty-based Nitro from its concept. There's none of the extensive chrome trim that adorned the flashy concept, but it does look as though it will keep a fairly aggressive set of wheels and tires. The Nitro's looks are also said to be derived in part from the quirky …

Came across this set of photos today. Here is Miss Belvedere at Ultra-One in Hackettstown, NJ on June 6, 2008. Note partial exterior cleanup of fender, part of the door, and half of the upper and lower grille sections. Side view of the car. A closeup of the cleaned up passenger fender and tire. The fender seems to have survived fairly well. The chrome on the vent window frame looks great, with only one or two pits in the metal. The gas tank on the left looks like it survived and could probably be reused if the car was restored. The leaf springs, as seen on the right, have brittled and snapped. This is true for both sides. The southern…

If I were to buy a new 300, which one should I buy: the 300 Limited or the 300C? No, I do not want an SRT8 version. The biggest difference between the 300 Limited and the 300C is v6/8AT vs. v8/5AT. Any thoughts on this?

AutoBlog Link Chrysler has released sketches today of three eco-minded concepts it will be unveiling at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in January, and the first we'll tell you about is the Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept. The ecoVoyager Concept appears to be a series hybrid, much like the Chevy Volt or Ford Airstream Concept, that uses a lithium-ion battery pack for jaunts of 40 miles or less and a hydrogen fuel-cell range extender to reach distances up to 300 miles away. Power is expected to be in the range of 200 kW total, which Chrysler claims is good for reach 60 mph in around eight seconds. The exterior features an extreme cab forward design creating an arch profile with f…

A few pictured from the Barrie autoshow in Ontario. Taken by polish_kris. Ok, I know it looked dumpy in the official pictures, but in real life its pretty nice. The parts that look odd are the headlights, the hood, and busy looking trim. If you see it from far away, you might think its a Crossfire. Some of the plastics inside were a little poor, but overall it was really well executed.

Chevy Silverado vs. Dodge Ram vs. Ford F-150 vs. Toyota Tundra We see it every Friday during our evening commute. A stream of vehicles choking the freeway, headed out to the Mojave Desert or the Colorado River for some well-earned weekend stress relief. The fun varies, from camping to dirt-bike riding to water-skiing. But the vehicle that invariably gets tasked with hauling the corresponding equipment is a full-size pickup truck. You know, like the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2009 Dodge Ram 1500, 2009 Ford F-150 or 2009 Toyota Tundra. Sure, we talk about the virtues of the minivan as a family hauler, and there are many. But the minivan stands no chance against…

Didn't see this posted anywhere, so I thought I would post it as a new topic. The front and rear restylings look great (especially that new grille), but I still wonder how well the restyled ends will gel with the carried over middle section. None of these teaser shots really give you any idea of how the entire car will look (which I guess is the point). Looks promising so far, though. Nardelli: Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep brands here to stay Josee Valcourt | Link to Original Article @ The Detroit News Chrysler LLC CEO Robert Nardelli said today that the automaker has no plans to drop any of the Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep brands, but hinted that some individual vehicles could be vulnerable. He didn't name specific models. Nardelli also said that parent company Cerberus Capital Management LLP will not be involved in the ongoing labor negotiations with the United Auto Workers. His comments came in a speech to the Automotive Press Association in Detroit, his first major public appearance since being named chairman and CEO of Chrysler early last month. Bargain…

Two Chicago area dealership groups have filed a lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles accusing the auto manufacturer of falsifying monthly sales figures in the U.S. FCA says the allegations are without merit. FCA has reported 69 monthly sales gains in the years since its bankruptcy in 2009. In the lawsuit, the one of dealerships claim that they were offered $20,000 to falsely report the sales of 40 new vehicles on the final day of a month. Those sales would then be backed out on the first day of the next month preventing the warranty clock on those vehicles from starting. The lawsuit further alleges that FCA rewards dealers who falsify the sales reports wi…

Yesterday, I had to do an administrative errand that involved some important paperwork and traveling between Northern California and Northern Nevada. So, I went on-line and rented an ECONOMY car from one of the majors. Upon arriving at the lot, there were no $ 18.99 economy cars, so I knew an upgrade was in order for the same price. The people in front of me were given a Jeep but I wanted something with an actual trunk, so the lady gave me a base model Chrysler 300. Now, I've probably posted before that I am quite disenchanted with the styling of most Chrysler products...and the 300 is no exception. I don't like the grille, the greenhouse and the squatty proportion…

Rental King Nearly half of Chrysler's sales are to fleets By BRADFORD WERNLE | Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek | Updated: 04/26/07, 9:53 am et DETROIT -- With fleet sales accounting for nearly half its total sales, Chrysler is gaining an identity as DaimlerChrysler's rent-a-car brand. Soft retail sales led the Chrysler brand to rely on fleet sales in a big way last fall and early this year. According to an Automotive News analysis of industry fleet sales by brand, Chrysler was the industry's top fleet-sales brand from November through February. For the six-month period through February - the most recent month for which brand data are available - fleet sales acc…

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will produce no more passenger cars in the U.S. early next year. The Dodge Dart will end production in September, while production of the Chrysler 200 will cease in December. This is to make way for more production of SUVs and trucks - Jeep Cherokee at Belvidere, Illinois and Sterling Heights, MI for the next-gen Ram 1500. "By the time we finish with this, hopefully, all of our production assets in the United States — if you exclude Canada and Mexico from the fold — all those U.S. plants will be producing either Jeeps or Ram," said FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne during a call with analysts yesterday. Why would FCA end passenger car production …

The Chrysler 300 will disappear in two years according Automotive News. Their annual future product pipeline reports that Chrysler will eliminate the 300 from their lineup in 2020. No replacement is planned. This follows rumors we've been hearing for the past couple of years that the 300 would be bumped off. But this presents a big problem for Chrysler. Without the 300, the only car in the lineup is the Pacifica minivan. But Automotive News says there is a model to take its place. It will be a fully-electric minivan based on the Portal concept that debuted at the 2017 CES in Las Vegas. The report says expect the concept to retain the reconfigurable interior that seat…
