Toyota took the wraps off the all-new Toyota Highlander at the New York International Auto Show today. This new fourth generation Highlander rides on Toyota's new TNGA-K platform. So around 12:30 PM on Tuesday, me, the wife, and the two boys get into the Envoy and head north up the NJ Turnpike to NYC to attend the 2008 New York International Auto Show. Last month we reported that Ford was apparently working on another version of the Mustang with a more powerful Ecoboost 4-cylinder. Well apparently Ford is preparing to show that Mustang at an event during the New York International Auto Show. Acura/Honda tend to push the definition of 'concept' to its limits. Case in point is the 2019 Acura RDX that debuted in production form today in New York. Compared to the concept shown at Detroit, the production model looks mostly the same. There is the large pentagonal grille, floating roof, and character line creases. Hyundai announced the name of their new crossover, the Hyundai Venue, that will debut at the New York International Auto Show in three weeks. The Venue will slot below the Hyundai Kona in their lineup, bringing their total crossover count to 6. I just got back from the New York Auto show, and besides having a bad driving/parking experience it was a lot of fun. I have to say the Aura and the Sky that I sat in were pretty crappy. I don't know if it was just a show car or what, but it was total junk. Most of the other GM cars I was pretty impressed with though. The Camaro was truly a work of automtive art, and was even better than in pictures. I'll probably post some pics a little bit later. Any other questions?

Mitsubishi seems to be in a pattern of unveiling two models for an auto show. At the LA Auto Show, the Japanese automaker introduced the updated 2017 Mirage and Outlander Sport. For New York, Mitsubishi introduced the 2017 Mirage G4 sedan and Outlander PHEV. We'll begin with the Mirage G4 which takes the Mirage hatchback and adds a trunk. Volkswagen's next-step in their crossover offensive made its debut tonight in the form of the Atlas Cross Sport Concept. This is our preview of the five-seat version Volkswagen is planning to launch sometime next year. Based on the MQB platform, the Cross Sport concept is 7.5 inches shorter than the Atlas, though it retains the same 117.3-inch wheelbase as the standard model. Teaser: Infiniti Crossover Concept Infiniti recently released this brushstroke image which reprents represents the outline of the new Infiniti crossover concept that will lead to a production vehicle to be sold later in the year. The only confirmed piece of info is that it will be based on Infiniti's FM platform and hence will be RWD. Like the C43 Coupe that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show, the E43 uses a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 paired with a nine-speed automatic and a rear-biased 4Matic all-wheel drive system. Mitsubishi's Outlander GT Prototype vehicle isn't slated for a reveal until tomorrow morning, but we caught the raced-up crossover lurking uncovered in the darkness as the Japanese automaker was preparing for a run-through of tomorrow's presentation.
