As I can see it, a very common problem with the new Civic is that the driver forgets to turn on their headlights. This brings two things: 1. Why doesn't the Civic have automatic headlamps? A lot of cars at the price point have it. And no, the one I saw wasn't a base model. Even the Cobalt has it. 2. Is the fancy LED backed dashboard really useful, or just for show? I know, not just the Civic has it, Lexus and some others have it too. But the thing is though, it was on, without the headlights on. We knew it was coming, but it was still a shock when Honda announced that the Accord Coupe would be no more with the next-generation model. As The Truth About Cars notes, about 5 percent of Accord sales were the coupe. That means out of 345,225 Accords sold last year, about 17,200 were for the coupe. Despite dropping the coupe, Honda believes buyers of the coupe will switch over to the sedan. “The sedan has dramatic enough styling to appeal to coupe intenders,” said Sage Marie, American Honda spokesman at the reveal of the 2018 Accord to Wards Auto. Check out this write up on the new Sport Concept unveiled by Honda over at the Temple of Vtec (you don't need to join). It looks extremely good IMO. Very aggressive, wide, low, and sporty. The only thing I really don't like is the interior (which looks a little overdone, shouldve been black like a Type R would be). Honda also unveiled their Race car version Civic Si and the HFP package for the Civic Si at the SEMA show. Honda Civics are generally respected as reliable transportation, and aren't supposed to be prone to things like, say, wheels falling off. But that's the reason Honda is recalling more than 182,000 of them made in 2006-2007. Honda says the trouble comes from a leaky O-ring in the wheel speed sensor. Water could damage the wheel bearing, which could result in one of the four wheels falling off, "possibly resulting in a crash." Ya think? Here are some pictures I took of the 2010 Honda Insight at the Montreal International Autoshow in Quebec, Canada on Tuesday January 20th. It looks ok, except for the droopy front end and baby wheels. Interior plastics scream cheap! Between this and the Fit, Honda has one eco-geeky lineup. When I asked for a brochure, the rep said: "We are trying to save the environment, so go on our website!" It will not be too long before the Civic Type R begins hitting Honda dealers in the U.S. and we now have some idea on pricing. A member on the CivicX.com forums came across a lot full of new Civic Type Rs nearby a port. The member was able to get some pictures of the vehicles sitting there along with one showing the window sticker. According to the sticker, the Civic Type R Touring will carry a base price of $33,900 - add $875.00 for destination and you'll end up with a final price of $34,775. Here's some video caught by an amateur photographer of a Honda Odyssey that burst into flames on the Long Island Expressway in New York a week ago. If you watch the video closely, the fire appears to be electrical since it starts in the cabin rather than under the hood (the headlights are on for a while). WASHINGTON -- A leading expert witness who has testified on behalf of automakers in vehicle rollover trials destroyed evidence in a high-profile case involving Honda Motor Co., according to a California court ruling unsealed this week.
