The Mother of All Vettes on the Mother Road By Bill Baker Email Date posted: 12-01-2005 I had driven a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 more than 2,000 miles from Chicago searching for bits of Historic Route 66. In California's Mojave Desert there was a long, lonely stretch of the old road that just might let me flirt with the 6's top speed of 198 mph. I hadn't passed anyone in miles and I could see the road ahead was empty to the horizon. I dropped the six-speed gearbox from 6th to 4th and floored it. Like a cathedral pipe organ playing Bach's "Toccata" with all the stops out, the 7.0-liter, 505-hp LS7 V8 began to thunder and howl toward it…

No tape, no camo... just like you'd see it on the showroom. I recognized it from a few hundred feet down the road. These new GMT-900's are distinctive. When I saw the Yukon last week I recognized the tail lights from a distance and it was starting to get dusk when I saw it. So this "it looks like an expedition" bs is just bs in my opinion. I am taking my driving test next month and if I pass then I want to buy a car. My budget is £1500 max. I live in a very hilly area so it will need good control and it has to be reliable as I can't afford to keep repairing it. Can anyone suggest a good first car? Also, can anyone give me a few pointers as to what to look out for?

  72. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 19, 2013 According to a report from Reuters, General Motors has pushed back the launch timeframe of the next Chevrolet Cruze from 2014 to late 2015. Sources say the reasons for the push is for the company to squeeze out more sales out of the current model and to put more engineering changes into the model. We don't know much about the next-generation Cruze, besides that it will ride on GM's new D2XX platform. Our best guess as to why GM is pushing back the Cruze by about a year? They don't want another 2013 Malibu disaster. Source: Reuters William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gears. He can be reached a…

  73. 2014 Chevrolet SS: A Sleeper Really Wakes up on the Track Written by: Elana Scherr on May 1 2014 4:32 PM Driving the 2014 Chevrolet SS is like meeting some boring middle manager for a lunch date and finding out they take part in those strong man competitions where flabby-looking men and women lift tree trunks over their heads and pull city buses with ropes of their own hair. Its performance far exceeds the mild promises of its exterior. Of course, when I was offered the chance to try out the SS on track at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California, I should have been prepared for its tire-smoking, corner-chomping abilities. HRM staffer Brandan Gillogly…

  77. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 10, 2012 If you have been thinking about buying a Chevrolet, General Motors has sweeten the deal. Starting today, the automaker is offering consumers its new "Chevy Confidence" program. The program allows consumers who buy a 2012 or 2013 Chevrolet model to return it within 30 or 60 days with less than 4,000 miles on the clock and no damage. GM calls it the "Love It Or Return It" program. Also, GM has applied special pricing on all of its 2012 models on top of all current incentives under the banner of "Total Confidence Pricing." Each 2012 model has a clearly-marked no-haggle price. "We have transformed the Chevrolet…

  79. Reuters / March 15, 2006 - 4:00 pm DETROIT -- General Motors, encouraged by the early sales of its redesigned 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, is accelerating its production schedule by several weeks for other SUVs built on the same platform, a spokesman said on Wednesday. GM is also asking its parts suppliers to ship components ahead of schedule so it can move to production more quickly for new versions of full-sized SUVs such as the Chevrolet Suburban and the GMC Yukon XL. The moves are key since the success of GM's revamped line of SUVs represent the struggling automaker's most important product launch this year, in a profitable segment of the market that it has long do…

With GM's very acute attention to design and detail in our newest models both on the inside and outside (Camaro in particular, Equinox, Malibu, Invicta, etc.), it only makes me anticipate a new generation of Corvette even more, especially with the CAFE hype hitting and saying the Corvette might be smaller, lighter, and on Alpha. However, my biggest focus is on interior/exterior design. What are you guys expecting?

  87. If you have your heart set on getting a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette, you'll be waiting a bit for the chance. General Motors announced today that it has issued two stop-sale notices that cover 2,800 2015 model year Corvettes. About 2,000 Corvettes have a potential problem with the driver's side airbag which may have been not properly attached and could separate in a crash. Another 800 Corvettes sitting on dealer lots may have only have one parking brake cable attached and not two. This causes the parking brake not to be as effective as it should be. Now GM hasn't said if it will go ahead and issue a recall for these two problems. We'll keep you updated if they do. Source: G…

it'll look pretty bad for sales figures to compare this june july to last june and july when they saw a 20 year high... I'm just thinking if GM has lots full of silverados, and they do another GMS, or something? Mark said he would never do it again... but who doesnt want to sell 1 million cars between 2 months? and the 2007 silverados to finish up the year should see strong sales? what does everyone think?

  91. Pretty good NY Times article about the Impala. I couldn't really disagree with much of what the article was talking about. It was basically talking about how the Impala is a shadow of its former self. However, the article was quite positive about the current Impala and how well it stacks up against the Asians. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/03/business...artner=homepage DETROIT, June 2 — To understand why Detroit is having so much trouble competing against Asian car companies, look no further than the Chevrolet Impala. Chevrolet's general manager, Edward J. Peper, and marketing manager, Mark A. Clawson, said Impala sales were up 6.4 percent this year. In the 1960…

  95. On January 24, 2013 Bob Maguire Chevrolet in Bordentown, NJ (Burlington County) posted a sign on their dealership's main door that they were closed for good. After 35 years of being in business, plus being one of the first Saturn dealer frnachises in the country and once having the largest GM parts warehouse on the East Coast, they closed suddenly with no advanced knowledge to their customers (many of whom had service appointments that day). Last weekend I drove by Classic Chevrolet in Moorestown, NJ (also Burlington County). Their lot was empty, with a ring of used cars surrounding the perimeter fence in the back of the dealership. Again, no advanced notice to custom…

By looking at the engines and transmission they list, it shows that they just put the 2007 review beneath a picture of the 2008 model. Seems pretty lame if you ask me. Review
