  1. Ever since Ford reinvented the Mustang for today’s market, DaimlerChrysler and General Motors have conspicuously been without their own retro hero. In a bid to potentially tap into this market, both Dodge and Chevrolet unveiled such concepts at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show: the Dodge Challenger and the Chevrolet Camaro. The Camaro was first introduced in 1966 as a 1967 model, continuing in various iterations until 2002. Now, the Camaro badge has been resurrected to sit on what was one of the main attractions of last month’s show. The Camaro project was launched shortly after the 2005 Detroit Auto Show at the beginning of last year. The brief called for a reinterpretation …

I drove a new Impala LT with the 3.9 in southern CA for a few days -- part of the Avis rental fleet. It drove great, so much quieter and smoother than my '04 LS with the 3.8 that I have at home. I can think of a few changes that I'd like to see in the '07 when it comes out this fall: more exterior colors for the SS (dark gray, pale blue metallic, just for starters); new wheel rims for the SS (I really don't like the factory rims at all, almost would rather have the LTZ rims); twin chrome pipes for any 3.9 powered car (LT or LTZ); change the spoiler to make it more subtle; it almost looks silly on the LT and LTZ; subtle front and tail clip changes; for the f…

My post was taken away with the demise of the Outlook thread. Anyway, I am hearing that GM is seriously considering the possible closer of Moraine, OH. This would be the end of the Trailblazer and Envoy as we know them. In fact, the next generation Trailblazer might in fact be a crossover after 2008. Something to think about. :AH-HA_wink:

  6. If you don't like Edmunds date for the Camaro start reading AutoWeek. They are reporting in the Feb 20th issue that the 2009 Camaro has been moved up to 2008. I get the feeling info on this is so tight the press is reaching for any clue they can right now. Watch the Camaro web site and posts from Fbodfather for any additional clues. What clues he post do come together in time. They give no other details on the Camaro but they do outline the latest Bluedevil hints. Most of the same as we have been hearing 2900 pounds, $100,000 and supercharged. They did say 7.0 SC but they have been the only ones I have seen to make a 7.0 claim. A topic that hasn't been touched on a lot is the interior of the Camaro, and something that has sort of worried me since I first saw it. The interior is of course, unorthodox, and its a love it or hate it design. Plenty of people were turned off by it, saying it was too radical for a car of this caliber. Some loved it for its retro cues. So I wanted to ask what everyone here actually thought of the interior, how much will be changed? Should a lot be changed? I myself like it with the exception of the long orange trim around the inside dash and doors. Will it be toned down and tame like the Challengers?

Hot Tahoe fuels GM optimism Sales of revamped Chevy SUV were up 50% in January despite slump in large-truck segment. Brett Clanton / The Detroit News When the lease on his old Chevy Tahoe expired, Michael Wujczyk toyed with going in another direction. Maybe something smaller. Maybe a different brand. But when he saw the 2007 Tahoe, he stopped looking. "They just made some great changes to the truck," said the 52-year-old door distributor from Farmington Hills, who leased one of the new SUVs last month. Such praise has helped GM get off to a good start with the redesigned Tahoe -- the nation's top-selling large SUV and a critical piece of the automaker's comeback stra…

Well, if that's true, then I received the perfect package in the mail today ... a whole bunch of old NMCOA (National Monte Carlo Owners Association) magazines, from another fellow MC enthusiast. Flipping through the old issues opened my eyes to how much the NMCOA has changed over the years. In some of the older issues, the pictures of the convention included pictures of the people winning the awards ... not just the MCs. Older issues also had a bunch of pictures, technical articles, MC information, etc. The December 1987 issue included a picture of a blue '84 MCSS that was owned by someone i…

I was thinking about the "hood scoop" on the Camaro yesterday, and whether it was really functional or not. Anyways, regardless of whether it is functional, it's not needed with the LS2. The LS2 is a "bottom breather" meaning it takes in air from underneath. The reason the Z06 has a little hood scoop is because the LS7 is not a bottom breather but rather a "front breather" meaning it takes in air from the front/top of the engine. So, knowing that, even if the scoop is funtional, it probably does very little for cooling the LS2, so... maybe that hints at the LS7 or another front breathing engine being possible in the future for the Camaro.

Pretty much where the gas tank/spare wheel sits. You'd need to move the gas tanks forward (between the frame rails, towards the middle of the vehicle). This is doable. You'd need a longer filler tube, but wtf. A side benefit would be that the weight of the gasoline would be centrally located in the vehicle; helping stability (which shouldn't be a concern on a vehicle weighing 5500lbs to start with, but again, wtf). Automotive News / January 30, 2006 - 6:00 am General Motors' product czar Robert Lutz doesn't want car clinics to dilute the Chevrolet Camaro concept's styling if the vehicle gets the OK for production. "There will be no clinics," he told employees at GM's tech center in Warren, Mich., a few days before the concept car's Jan. 10 unveiling at the Detroit auto show. One source said designers gave a collective sign of relief, since car clinics often have been blamed for watering down the styling of GM's vehicles as they morphed from concepts to production vehicles. http://autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?...2/1003&refsect=

Hoping insiders can give me a bit of clarification. The current GMT201 MiniVans were supposed to be replaced by GMT962 about 2009. With all of GM's cancellations and delays I have heard GMT962 got replaced by GMT511. Can the insiders confirm or deny this and if its alive has it been delayed (to when?) Is it still going to be on the Lambda platform? Thanks

I know I did. I remember last winter.. January/February-ish going to the gas station where a random gas pumper asked if the Camaro was mine... "Yep, sure is." "Well you oughtta take good care of 'er. Ya know.. they don't make those anymore!" "Nope, but they're coming sooner than you expect." "You think so?" "My proof will be at the next international auto show in detroit. In January of '06" He gave me a "stupid kids" look. Well, I wasn't gonna lie!

Here it is, I did it quick so don't pick on the fact that I haven't put the shine on the passenger side trunk section. Was in a hurry and when I saw it almost done had to share it with you. I'll finish it tomorrow. How about in Blue with Phantom Racing Stripes! Cooooooooooooool

  76. They have a 1-pager with photos of a concept car in silver with an illustration of an interior...strong '69 styling cues inside and out... They claim the photos were taken at the GM Design center (look like a clay) the article says don't expect it before '08, likely to be on the Zeta platform w/ v8 and v6...

Some lines from the new Motor Trend review: "Running almost on empy, General Motors digs deep with its new full size truck platform and strikes it big." "A first drive smackdown test on the track and in the field reveals that GM brought game" "The technological advances are compelling-but the Tahoe's most critical changes are the interior. It's nothing short of stunning, especially when compared with the previous generation's. Cabin materials are significantly improved, with softer surfaces and tighter gaps and tolerances on all panels, the center stack, and gauges. Even the carpet fasteners have been hidden, giving the floor a bett…

as i have stated before, i am 25 and have never wanted for a American before. i currently drive a Maxima (which i have loved to the bone for all 198,000 miles. but soon i will be purchasing a new auto and i want to take advantage of the GMS (employee) pricing i receive from my father in law. the only American car that has struck me with a gasp has been the Chrysler 300 SRT-8, but for me and my family (wife and 5 week old) it just isnt a realistic option at this point. As many have read my review of the Lucerne, i loved what i saw and drove. a black on black CXS with all the chrome trim was the best looking GM car i have seen to date, with the exception of the CTS-V…

Just wondering if anyone here owns a 2006 Impala SS? If so care to write a quick review? Does this thing require premium gas or just regular 87 octane? What kind of real world gas mileage are you getting? Any known reliability issues with the 5.3 with DOD? Or should this engine run for a very long time? -Leland

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe A most impressive full-size effort. by Eric Peters (2006-01-02) There's a lot riding on the '07 Tahoe-much more than just a new body and revised chassis. GM badly needs for its popular full-size SUV (and its shared platform stablemates, the new '07 Caddy Escalade, GMC Yukon and the long-wheelbase Suburban) to hold the line against the burgeoning onslaught of large SUVs from Nissan (Armada) and Toyota (the coming '07 Tundra/Sequoia), some of which have already made significant incursions into territory that used to be the exclusive domain of U.S. automakers. GM can't afford to lose any more market share - most espe…

:) I was just watching a coverage of the new years events, and the first commercial on the break was a New Chevrolet american revoloution commercial that featured the 2007 Tahoe!! It started w/ a Business man walking to a parking lot, where he got in a red 2006 Corvette Z06. He sped off, doing some twists and turns, to meet a blue Cobalt SS coupe, and handed it's driver a briefcase. The Cobalt then speed off and turned into a parking garage where it met a silver HHR, and once again passed off the Briefcase. Next, then HHR sped out of the parking garage, to drive fastly down a downtown road, (as it's driving it shows the awesome interior of the HHR). The…

I was thinking of this today....... A 69' Camaro SS, 69' Mustang Mach 1, and a 69' Charger R/T are at a light. The light turns green some squeeling of tires. then the Camaro wins. Screen fades to black. "The Boys are back in Town" starts playing.... A Cobalt SS races down a street and blows by a Honda Civic. Screen fades black again with music playing. A Malibu Maxx SS blows by a Toyota Camry. Screen fades to black again. A Impala SS blows by a 300C. Screen fades black again. A Monte Carlo SS blows by a Charger. Screen fades black. Then a Trail Blazer SS blows by a Jeep SRT8 Then on the oppisite side of the road have a Silverado SS blo…

Thats was 20 years ago and im still as awestruck when I see these cars. At 20 I found my Camaro. At the time i had a 69 it was 3 different colors but it had a worked 350 so I was happy. Any way I worked at a Deli here in Bellmore Long Island and the kid from the video store in the shopping center had a Black 69 Camaro ( 327 ) in real nice shape, anyway every night we wind up at the same stop light (due to the stores closing around the same time) I would taunt him every night.
