I made my first omelet today for breakfast, and the results were kind of mediocre for my first try. I sprayed the pan and then mixed the eggs with a little milk and butter, and then poured it into the pan with the heat on medium. After about 2-3 minutes when it started bubbling up and forming together, I added some cheese and bacon bits to the top and then folded it over and then let it cook for a couple more minutes. But when it was done, it came out really thick (almost like a scrambled egg patty) and porous, unlike any other omelet I've had before. It tasted ok, but it broke apart easily when I pulled it out of the pan and it just looked kinda odd. How do you guys…

But that's ok, the convention didn't leave much time for So Cal "hanging out." Probably road trip here and there on each of the different days and see a college friend in San Diego on Monday. I'm about to go back to the rental car agency to swap out my Impala for something else. No "June gloom" in the AM which means the day will tend toward the hot. What are C&G-ers doing on the 4th?

Today I woke up early with all sorts of grand plans to get things accomplished. I took care of the dogs and walked to the Silverado to go get my morning coffee - that's when things turned bad. The Silverado had a very flat tire. So, I think OK I can deal with that and proceed to attempt to change the tire. Well, after getting all of the never-used jack and lug wrench stuff out from its compartment behind the seat, I take off the centercap and try the first lug. Stuck. I mean really stuck. I fight with it for a while with no effect, then actually stand on the lug wrench - no movement. I start to jump on the lug wrench and It finally started to move. I think "g…

How they picked them I do not know (one of them was a Toyota spokesperson, who of course answered with a Toyota product each time, didn't make much sense). Drew was also in the article, and it mentioned C&G. I can't find the article online or I would post it, but I thought it was pretty cool since it was an article written by an editor of the newspaper, not just some random article they took from somewhere else. Germany has been careful to not outsource it’s labor force to foreign markets as much as we have in the US. If German companies need cheap labor, they set up shop in the former East German territories. This way, at least the GDP stays local to Germany’s economy. Why can’t we do the same thing here? I'm just glad I made no comments when I went in to the house. I could have offended her. But think about it. What other car company sells a vehicle with an interior that can be hosed down? GM had the Envoy XUV, for a good $20k more than the Element sells for. They also had the Aztek, which was a similar concept, both in form and in function. And pick-up trucks, well, in general it's not a good idea to keep a dog in the outer compartment of a moving vehicle.

A few that have never made sense to me why people use/say them include: "PIN Number" ... as in Personal Identification Number Number "ATM Machine" ... as in Automatic Teller Machine Machine "Hot water heater" ... so, you heat hot water? Over the last week, I've looked at a number of cars as a potential "winter beater" or "winter beater/road warrior"...3 of those on Saturday, November 8. I tend to come across either FWD coupes or RWD sedans. I'd prefer a RWD coupe.... Why, Tuscon, AZ of course Got these in an email this morning, and I've seen this "boneyard" in person. Military aircraft as far as the eye can see. Email text follows: I agree it is difficult to comprehend the size of the facility and the number of aircraft stored there. Of course the important thing to remember is that they are all capable of being returned to flying condition if the need ever arises. There was an excellent book published a few years ago on the celebration of the "Boneyard's" 50 anniversary. It was written by Philip D. Chinnery and is entitled "50 Years of the Desert Boneyard" published by Motorbooks International and can be obtained through any …

My money is on the latter but I’ve been surprised before. Take the #SoundOff survey now! Want to see last week's results? See the post here.

  72. So How Many Kids Can Fit Into A Mazda Hatchback? William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com August 29, 2011 A South African man learned the hard way that you shouldn't try to fit many kids into one car. The unnamed man was stopped near Cape Town. When police took a look at the Mazda hatchback he was driving, they saw seventeen kids sitting or laying down in the car. Three kids were in the front seat with the driver, while the other fourteen were back making the most of the hatchback room with the seats folded. Police arrested the man for carrying to many people in his car, driving with a suspended license, and his car being found unroadworthy. …

Okay... a few days ago I saw a minivan being driving by a 40s-ish guy. The catch? There was a bumper sticker on it that said "Marriage? Yes! One Man. One Woman". Ever since, I can't stop thinking that I should put my own bumper sticker on my Millenia... just... what, though? Yes, it'll be tacky, cheesy, etc... but so what? I need some way to get back at all the homophobes that drive around.

First off some of you may remember "Mr.Death". About a year ago I owned, for a short time a rotted, tired & neglected 1970 Cadillac Coupe deVille seafoam green with a tan interior & black top. There's a long story about why that car was called "Mr.Death", but this is not the time or the place for that. <----- "Mr.Death" Well recently I've been talking quite a bit about another Cadillac beater... My mother is looking to trade her 2003 Eclipse GT in on something new. The car barely fits in the garage as-is, so we have a very limited length requirement of 190" or under. She wants it to be under $40k, but not necessarily that high. She wants something "not too June Cleaver-ish" in her words. 2-door is desired but can be overlooked if she likes the design. Same for a convertible top. She's already told me that the G6 would be OK but the new Malibu is a little too family-looking for her. Since she is coming from a 200 hp V6, something of at least similar performance would also be a requirement. I'm trying to come up with possibilities. All I can really come u…

Here's my list: Cuban - this is Ricky Ricardo talk, this is NOT a Mexican accent. I love it. It's my favorite. Iranian-Middle Eastern - perfected from LA experiences - make damn sure you leave out articles in front of nouns whenever possible. I once asked this Middle Eastern guy at a party where he was from. His response: "I leev een Bay Area." I had meant which country he came from, but that's ok. I can't drive through Concord on 680 without muttering that to myself. 81. Look at it as if one of these would have trickled over into every other issue and made most of what Detroit sold us back then desirable to this day and kept the reputation at a higher level. ETN: Look at the "not building Euro/AUS models for N. America" option to also reflect North American models being so extremely different from Europe and Australian-market GM, Fords, and Chryslers.

  82. Seeing my older 4 Monte Carlos literally covered in dust, and sadly STILL not "on the road" for 2007, made me realize I don't have a lot more weekends to really give them a cleaning. Heck, last year, I only washed the older 4 MCs (all 4 on one Saturday) ... didn't even wax 'em. Since that isn't the "norm" for me, I hope to change that this year...we'll see. I managed to get the '87 MC LS waxed 3 times, though, last year. So far, I've cleaned and waxed the '87 MC LS once this year. Normally, I wash, wax and clean the interior of the older 4 MCs once a year. I just dust them off every so often during the rest of the time that they are out ... unless they get caught in…

CARFAX has been hunting down & suing forums and individuals that allow this kind of misuse of their services. Posting a thread like inquiring about someone using their CARFAX for you, especially if someone then looks up the info & posts it back, puts Cheers & Gears at risk for lawsuit. It is for this reason that we request that members do not post such threads. CARFAX may seem like a ripoff for looking up one VIN, however a lawsuit would be far more expensive in the long run. 90. Been a while since we did one of these. A lot of great vehicles had their last hurrah for the 2018 Model Year. From mainstream offerings, to exotics, many models had their demise. This thread will be dedicated to those. You can choose either cars that were discontinued entirely, had specific trim levels axed, or lost body styles. Rules- 1) Must be 2018 MY 2) Choices must be offered in your market 3) Production vehicles only 4) Choices must have been discontinued, replaced with new model, had a body style dropped, etc 5) Maximum of 5 choices 6) These are your only vehicles Have fun!

  91. This has been a larger and older GM sort of weekend. Yesterday, I saw a powder blue Olds Toronado with a white top. That meant it was a '75. It was spotless. I couldn't take a photo. I waved at its driver. He waved back. This morning, I saw a mid 1990s' Olds Ninety Eight Regency of the variety @NINETY EIGHT REGENCY has. I saw it coming up on me in the fast lane on the freeway. I saw that it was silver. When it caught up with me, its interior was burgundy. But I already knew this is my favorite color combo for a vehicle. This was another immaculate GM car. For a split second, with its lack of finning at its rear, it almost resembled a small Lincoln Tow…

When I came back out, I saw 4 VWQ ID4 and 2 ID5 EVs, then a Tesla S and X as well as a Y and I have to say seeing all 3 side by side the 3 is very cheap and looks even more dated than the S and X, but all three look very dated compared to the VW ID's. Then there was 3 R1T and 1 R1S from Rivian. WOW those are sharp EVs, then a couple of Bolts and a Bolt EUV. Then there was my Escalade, a half a dozen Dodge chargers and a lone Challenger and then a bunch of older 300Cs, Impala and a mix of asian econo box cars. …

I'm kind of their internet sales guy, taking pictures of the new arrivals and posting them up on Cars.com, Craigslist, etc. and trying to set up appointments for showings. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Here's an example of a listing I put together. Hopefully it makes you want to buy it! Clicky
