I had never heard of this car, the 1986 Buick LeSabre Grand National: http://www.lesabret-type.com/LeSabreGN.html Exactly What is a LeSabre Grand National? Many do not even know that Buick Division of General Motors produced the Grand National on a platform other than on the Regal but there was a very unique Grand National built in late1985 – the 1986 LeSabre Grand National. 117 (or 112) copies were built to qualify the new, first year 1986 LeSabre FWD Coupe body for NASCAR competition. The main reason for building the 1986 LeSabre Grand National was to get the new body with modified rear quarter windows sanctioned for Winston Cup racing that year. The modified …

Do the 1988-up Regals 2-doors last awhile? I know its FWD and everything but there is one sitting at Orangeville Motors behind some trees. I saw it but never asked how much. It looks in alright shape. I just dont know how reliable they are. If it is the right price and reliable I may just pick it up.

Clicky I know this evokes a reaction from most of you, but if this were a year old and black, this would be just like my father's bought-new 1987 Trofeo, the very first car I remember (and the first car I 'drove' - on my dad's lap, of course!). Same digital 'gages', same throttle shifter. Ours had a moonroof and an NEC mobile cellular car phone, though. I've seen only a few Toronados of these hated downsized years, and most of them beaten hard with random wheels, busted antennas, and broken headlamp doors. But this? Almost perfect. *Sigh*

Stopped and got the oil changed at my Cadillac dealership today. An old guy traded in one of his auto's for a new ride. 1989 Pontiac Firebird Indy 500 official pace car with only 13,914 miles. 2.8L MFI V6. So would you buy it? What are your thoughts?

I asked in the tech section a question about a coworker's 1991 Chevy Caprice not too long ago. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=10943 John wanted to get it fixed so that his newly-licensed son would have a car to drive. Well, his wife didn't want him to drive the Caprice, so they went out and bought a new Honda Accord (for the wife, not the son!). The son will now drive a 2001 Impala. John is thinking of donating the car to the American Red Cross motor pool (local one that resells donated cars to raise cash) or some other "donate your car for a tax break" place. Now my question is should I offer to buy it? I don't need a 4th car, but I do li…

I'm looking at picking up a cheap 1992 sunbird from a relative it has the 2.0 L 4 cylinder I believe. Its up there in miles but had alot of mantenance. It just needs sway bar work up front , new belts, and a tune up. Its had the head gasket replaced a while ago and its done well so far knock on wood, but is it a decent car or is it going to be a money hog? I really want it for fuel efficiencys sake for just around the town driving.

Not that I really should be looking for another "toy" at this time, but I've seen the following 1992 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible for sale in the last couple of issues of the local Auto Shopper and it catches my eye each time: 1992 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible, 118k miles, black leather, V8, auto trans, $5995 Now I've always liked the 1991 & 1992 Trans Ams (especially the GTA models), so when I find one for sale I tend to at least check it out. I think I'd prefer a T-top coupe more, but for a "toy" car I wouldn't rule out a convertible. Any advice on this T/A? Not sure if I'd do anything about it, but I always like to learn about the cars I like anyway :AH-H…

I saw this trade-in sitting behind my local Chevrolet dealer and I decided to check it out. It is fully loaded, with the supercharger, auto transmission with normal or perform shift and it is As Is. It doesn't look to have any rust on the body and the paint is in good condition except for some normal chipping. The seats aren't ripped as they are leather and tend to in older GMs. They are selling it for $900 and it has only 209,000kms which is about 127,000 miles. What do you think? Should I go for it? My dad really likes it as well but we need to make sure how it would be on insurance. It will be more expensive because of the supercharger. It is black on beige, has CD and…

Seeing as how I'm horribly far away from affording a new GTO, I've been looking at things that a are a bit more attainable. The 1994-96 Impala SS has caught my eye. In some ways, it's just like the GTO: -Big Corvette V8 power -Sleek, sedated looks (sleeper-like) I'm still not in the market for another car yet but I wanted to get an idea of how good these are (reliability, modability, etc.). This particular one looks pretty damn clean. B)

While visiting Stayner, Ontario, I happened on this gem. It is a really rare, and extremely low milage 1996 Dodge Ram Indianapolis 500. An elderly gentleman owned it since new, then passed away leaving it for his kids, and then it found its way to a dealer in Stayner. It is kept in a climate controled garage! 18,827 Kilometers (11,698 Miles!!!) and perfect condition. Looks like it just came from the factory!!! They want $17,000 for it. From info I found on the net, approximately 2802 Indy Rams were built! VIDEO: PICS:

He actually has two of them in storage in mint condition. I think they are both under 40k miles. Anybody know how much they would be worth? The price guides tell me nothing. Thanks.

I've been saying I'd get these uploaded since I joined the site in 2004. Well here they are: several videos of how I occasionally abuse my poor Camaro. The car is tough as nails, unrestored, pretty rough cosmetically and pretty much all of the mechanical hardware is factory save for the crate motor. Enjoy.... & let's see your own shenanigans too! * these are all only 15 sec. quicktime movies with no sound. They were taken with my ancient Nikon digital camera. This footage was taken at the same place where I did my burnout photo that got published in Car Craft. As a matter of fact this was only about 2 months after that photo was taken. July of 2004 or …

Because of the large amount of photo submissions, we have decided to offer you a choice of two different calendars. Here's a preview of what you can expect with your order. OPTION 1 OPTION 2 This is a pretty good representation of the reverse of the final product. Photos may be slightly edited or cropped to preserve the best quality in the final print. The order is (upper left to lower right) January through December. The calendar itself will be painted on satin or matte finish paper that is durable and high-quality yet easy to write on. Open dimensions are 8.5"x14";…

After my disillusionment with the dealership business it's actualy nice to 'work' for a living. I did a couple hours of orientation and then they threw me right out there. For the first time in my life I'm a member of a union, and I feel like I really could stay at this job for a long time. I better stay with it, I'm tired of bouncing around... The only bad experience of the day was I sliced open my knuckle on my right hand. So Thursday we had a family trip which involved taking the Grand Marquis and the Intrepid 2 hours from Lawrence, through Boston, to UMass Dartmouth to move my brother into his dorm, as he starts college Tuesday. The plan was to get at least 6 hours of sleep, but instead we spent it watching Batman Begins and packing. We went to sleep at about 2:30am and woke up at 4:30am to be there by 7:30am. We somehow did this, I in the GM and my girlfriend in the Intrepid. Then when we got there we had to wait an hour in a line of cars for our turn to unload, then move it to his dorm and help hims set it up. Then we had to do extra shopping for things he forgot/needed. Okay so for the past 4 years I've been driving 2/3 used cars of varying degrees at a time. Other than my Datsun the one commonality was they were all GM. From my 87 Fleetwood Brougham to my 83 Firebird, and from my 90 Suburban to my 86 Fleetwood Brougham.... lots and lots of buying and selling and I love it that way. Marcia had her STS for a daily driver but I wanted an all RWD fleet for myself. I did not need or want a modern car. I was happy having three cars that averaged out to over quarter of a century old. My Camaro was the toy muscle car, the Fleet- wood Brougham was my cushy daily driver/family car/baby limousine & the Datsun was for racking up …

Has everyone seen the little 20-inch tall, 10 pound Nepalese teenager that's gunning for the world's record for Shortest Boy? He'd make a great spy. He'd make a great porn star. He'd make a great karate instructor. He makes me feel tall. Anyway, let's wish him the best for a good life.

I was in Berlin when the wall fell, I was 20 years old at the time, it is something I will never forget as long as I live. A lot of Americans take freedom for granted, they don't even bother to vote. As a man who has a foot in both North America and Europe, and seeing what I saw there, I have a greater appreciation for what can be lost if it's not held dear. The fall of this wall lead to German reunification of East and West Germany. The beginning of the Wall. The Wall falls in 1989.

A BPG dealer I've had contact with over the past 5-6 months regarding some of their used/GM Certified inventory has had the following 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi sedan available for the past two months now: It has a tad less than 71k original miles on it, is a fully loaded SSEi model, and from the pictures and e-mails I've received from the sales lady, the car is in excellent condition for its age. The price they're asking is a little high IMO, but as with all used cars I'm sure it could be negotiated to something better. Was The 2000 W-Body Monte Carlo And Impala Meant To Be Rear-Drive? Browsing around on the net, I found a page that posted the specifications of 1998's Chevrolet Intimidator concept car, which would eventually become the production Monte Carlo in 2000, some two years later. I scanned over the drivetrain specs, expecting to see it listing the concept as a "front-engine, front-drive" car. Instead I found the following: Yes, that's right. The concept that previewed the sixth-generation MC was rear-drive. And something else tells me that feature was meant to be carried over into production. Also, I'd like for you to take note of the powertrain on this: And -- I…

So just chillin' at home today and surfin' the web... went over to Craigslist.com and played around looking at different vehicles for sale. Is this something I should look into? I'm questioning the 6.0L V8 and 2500 series - if it were a 1500 series with the 5.3L V8 I'd probably not be asking for any advice!! I don't really need a 2500 series, and the 6.0L V8 I think is overkill for my needs. However, for some reason I really like 2000-2002 GMC Sierras the best (m…

I cannot believe how big compacts have gotten today. They are now bigger than a car that was inbetween midsize and compact. Just look. My grandma's Cobalt is bigger than my Grand Am. Not that this is a bad thing, but if I want a compact, I want a compact. Not some vehicle that could be considered a midsize 10 years ago. No wonder it takes so much for a vehicle these days to feel fast... Then again, maybe I'm just stuck in the past like Sixty8... :P

The following is part of what greeted friends/family in an Email sent about 8:15p (central) on January 6, 2003: Hard to believe it has been 4 years since that Email was sent. A lot has changed (including Joy's boyfriend becoming her husband) ... some things have stayed the same. In a couple months (March), it'll be 20 years since my second open heart surgery, which was 9 months before my then-best-friend died 2 days after Christmas of an asthma attack. And, later this year, it'll be 30 years since my first open heart surgery. Thanks to (and despite) these anniversaries, life continues to be good ! For 2007, I'll be planning a road trip or two and perhaps doing ano…

Yesterday, Black and Blue Landscaper and I made the trip out the PA turnpike for this event ahead of a terrible fatal accident which later shut down the turnpike for many hours. Once there, we met up with Ocnblu and had a great time checking out all that there was to see at this year's event. We saw the Camaro Concept convertible ,of course, and I spoke very briefly with the Fbodfather himself though there was no time to really chat since his time is more than spoken for at events like this. I've decided to do something different this time rather than simply posting the pics, after each one I will at least caption it. In some cases I will expand on an aspect of the sh…

2007 IIHS Subcompact Crash Test Results Subcompact cars, an increasingly popular choice among drivers, fared poorly in new crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Not surprisingly, the small cars did especially poorly in crashes with large SUVs and trucks, according to results released today. But deaths in small cars also were higher in single-vehicle crashes, compared to larger vehicles. The only small vehicle to get good safety marks across the board was the subcompact Nissan Versa, which is slightly larger than competing mini or B-car vehicles, but is marketed alongside the others. Five of the seven cars tested by the insurance instit…

My question is--in the commercial they show the woman upshifting on the autostick... but it has a CVT. How does that work? Does it behave like a regular automatic when you use the autostick?

I grabbed some 2008 model brochures recently on a run around a few dealers. Here's what I picked up: Buick Enclave Buick LaCross Buick Lucerne (the super is conspicuously absent in this brochure) Cadillac DTS (new midnight blue leather interior option for 08, good to see colors coming back inside) GMC Acadia GMC Canyon (V-8 not available on regular cab, but you can get a 2wd Xtended cab sport with V8) 2008 Envoy Saturn Vue Has anyone else pickup any 08 brochures? What did you get?

So when will GM update all their sites with the 2008 model info. I know for a fact that 08s are on dealer lots and more are arriving daily. Wouldn't you think that they would have their new info on the sites rolled out already so people can start shopping or researching for new car/truck/crossover? Can someone enlighten me...thanks.

WOW! I happened to be working on something else and got around to some web-surfing because my "leadership ethics" chapters get boring every once in a while. Somehow, I got onto the Presidential electiong prognostications. In a nutshell, nobody that I consider to be fairly conventional is in a front runner position. This leaves me perplexed. On the Democratic side, Hillary is a obviously a woman and Obama is obviously of mixed race. Not only that, there are so many other contenders that no one knows how their pie will be split up. On the Republican side, Giuliani has had an interesting personal life in terms of number of marriages and Romney from Mass. is Mormon, wh…

I'm inquiring about two 2009 GM-issued calendars that dealers receive (or buy?) and distribute to their customers: 2009 GM Muscle Cars 2009 GM Classic Cars & Trucks I've tried a bunch of my local dealers to see if they had either calendar to give me with no luck (one dealer said that "GM stopped doing them over a decade ago" ). Do any of our dealership personnel here have access to these calendars? I'd definitely like to get one of each, if possible, and I'm willing to reimburse the cost of shipping. Thanks in advance!!

** 2010 is just around the corner ... already?! ** Holy cow ... it's hard to believe that 10 YEARS ago people were wondering if the change from 1999 to 2000 would disrupt life as we know it...! Yet, here we are ... on the brink of "Twenty Ten". Plenty has changed, but some things remain the same. Life is rapidly moving forward ... despite the turmoils and triumphs we've experienced and witnessed ... some of which seem ages ago, others like just yesterday. Here's to 2009 and years prior ... while looking to 2010 and beyond. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Driving the Prototype of the EV Three-Wheeler Wearing a black jacket, she could be a cop, alerted by nosy neighbors to the funny-looking vehicle tearing around the suburban streets. She certainly is staring at us intensely as we pilot the bright-white three-wheeled craft down the street, gingerly depressing the brake pedal to make sure we're under the 30-mph speed limit. Then we're around the corner, she disappears from our rearview mirror and we hit the accelerator. That's the beauty of the 2010 Aptera 2e electric vehicle — you can speed away from the scene and the cops won't know it, with just a quiet hum as the electric motor winds up and a feeling of satisf…

I've never driven a Corvette, nor have I ever driven in a Corvette, but since this is one of the cars I would love to own in the near future (although base car, not GS), I am very excited to take this opportunity and answer any questions you might have that I can!

Insideline rounded up this years' new or significantly revised minivans to find out who reins king of the family haulers. http://www.insideline.com/toyota/sienna/2011/2011-minivan-comparison-test.html and just for comparison, last year's Grand Caravan: and just for comparison, last year's Grand Caravan: Seemed like a fair comparison. Only 6.6 points separate the 1st-place Sienna from the 5th-place Grand Caravan in the overall scores. However I don't really agree with the Sienna being first. The cheapest interior of the group would have knocked down to at least 2nd in my book. The Odyssey seems to be held back by its lack a features and powert…

So I try to set myself goals every years. Some are realistic and I don't quite make it and some are a reach and I actually acomplish them. Either way I like making a list at the beggining of the year and do my best to acomplish it. Here's what I got for 2011... 1. Get a new job with a company that is more organized and pays 25-30 percent more base. 2. Finally finish my undergrad (I did college part time after my freshmen year) 3. Sell my car. 4. Move to Brooklyn 5. Get engaged. What major goals do you guys have for the year?

Hey guys, I have a buddy of mine who's typically a Chevy guy but he came across a 2012 F150 XLT EcoBoost. What I'm really looking for is are they reliable... I know it's kind of a loaded question but it's a little difficult to get some answers when Googling it because most that have 150,000 trouble free miles aren't the ones online posting about how reliable their truck is. The ones posting are the ones with premature issues. So, does anybody have any first hand or friends/family have first hand with any of that generation 3.5 EcoBoosts that have issues relating to the engine. AND/OR anybody that has put a lot of miles on their truck without issues. The truck in…

We all enjoy things automotive. But you've got to experience certain things in person. I've got some pictures of the Grand Ascent at Hershey where cars as old as 100 tear up the hill just as they were designed to do! You've got to put this show on your calendar for next June to see and hear these great cars! What do you think of these cars? Check out the Bugatti Type 57 and Wayne Carini's Porsche! http://automotivetraveler.com/jump/4174

Well after looking at, sitting in, driving cars for over a year I forced myself to go look at the 2013 KIA Forte before I bought. One 2013 to be found, but they did have a truckload 2014's. Looked at it, sat in it, drove it, bought it. 2014 Forte EX sedan 2.0L 173hp Auto trans (not ctv, or vti, or ggnp or any other unwanted odd ball trans) Silver over black With a few added options stickered at $20,790 Got free tint, and locking lug nuts (told them they could take that stuff off so they left it.) Got 2K in discounts This car caught me by surprise, lots of standard equipment, and I got an auto dimming mirror without having to buy a $2 or 3K package. This one happen…

So my Escalade rear tail gate would not open. Suspect the electronic switch failed. I wish they still had key access as I had to climb over to unload my stuff I had loaded into the Escalade yesterday when I got home. Took it in and they gave me a new 2014 CTS4 2.0T to drive. Initial reactions: Car is great in Touring mode, more responsive in Sport mode but also more noticeable turbo lag. Love the center stack with touch screen very intuitive and easy to use. Lower portion that opens and shows the hidden storage / charging bay was noisy. Surprised for a new auto with only 2500 miles on it. Rest of the leather, fit and finish was really nice. Enjoyed the Pad…
