I need to clear my mind and what a way to start the day? take 94 to 26 mile and take that and back roads to the water and drive it up. If I return is a different question. But for a CD I made, god what a mix, Free bird simple man Kashmir Riders on the storm Sultans of Swing panama Jump crazy purple haze voodoo child Roxxxanne Black betty Growing pains Faimly Traditions and holy diver to finish it i have like .00001 seconds left. ...a baby fox that is. The thing just wandered across the lane as I was heading home. I stopped the Tahoe and got out to check it out and the little tyke ran right up to me and followed me around. I called the other folks on the property and they all came to see. Finally, my employers' son-in-law just picked him up, and then handed him to his wife. She tucked him inside of her vest and he immediately went to sleep. Interesting end to the day.

Here is a letter that you can use to pass the info on to your local media. Make sure to read the report and check out the video. I think ANY automotive fan would find it of interest. I have a news story that I think would intrigue many viewers. There is a product purchased by "A" celebrities to show they are "green". This product violates human rights and most people don't know it. The story is about workers rights on a company that many people in the US associate with an environmentally positive company. Please check out http://lauraflanders.firedoglake.com/2008/...t-worker-abuse/ and http://www.nlcnet.org/admin/media/document...N_FINAL_WEB.pdf Than…

So Friday I'm going to try to negotiate with a dealer in LaFollette, Tennessee on a 1998 Camaro V6 5-speed with a little over 176,000 miles. The dealer hasn't set an asking price yet as they haven't completely "prepped it for the lot yet" (it needs a brake booster installed and first-gear tightened up). Thus far, all of my research from the KBB website shows that there is about a two-hundred dollar or so average between their car and my truck with my truck actually being the more expensive vehicle. If anyone has any negotiation tips for me so that I will not come out of this deal losing anything, I'd really appreciate it. The Sonoma has got to go ASAP. All of the litt…

So yesterday Sixty8 and I took his Banana boat on a trip to the toy store...er...junkyard. He was in search of parts for it and I was in search of a headlight for the T&C...plus any other goodies that caught my eye for one of the other cars. We spend from 11 until 1 or so there, he had better luck than I though. They didn't have a single first gen Caravan. Although We did see a few interesting things there. There was a triple burgundy Cadillac 1984 Fleetwood Brougham (I think that's what it was) that was in sitting amidst the rows of other Caddies and Buicks stacked on top of each other with nothing on it (yet) The vinyl top was gone and so was the grill but the rest …

DF brought up this point and I figured I would look back and see how many accidents there really has been. I'm going back until 2000, or so. There weren't many before then, not since my parents, aunts, and uncles were younger. It's mostly my generation that's had issues. -My cousin Josh's first wreck, spinning into a tree with his Firebird back in 2000, a few months after getting his license. -My cousin Josh's second wreck involved rear ending someone with his jacked up and modded Ford Ranger. -My Mom's first wreck, when she slid into an embankment and a bridge with her Grand Am in 2002. -My cousin Andy wrecked my Grandma's Sunfire in 2003 or 2004, the fir…

From 2006 Britain will be the first country where every journey by every car will be monitored Britain is to become the first country in the world where the movements of all vehicles on the roads are recorded. A new national surveillance system will hold the records for at least two years. Using a network of cameras that can automatically read every passing number plate, the plan is to build a huge database of vehicle movements so that the police and security services can analyse any journey a driver has made over several years. The network will incorporate thousands of existing CCTV cameras which are being converted to read number plates automatically night and …

OK, so mom is possibly looking for a new car (her current '93 Maxima is starting to break down on a regular basis, and repairs aren't cheap), and was looking at her replacement options. She doesn't have much to spend - about $7K. She's always driven domestics until this Maxima, and she's liked the way this car drove, if not the reliability. She'd been contemplating an older Camry or Accord, but wasn't overly impressed with either one. She'd even considered a RAV4 or a CR-V, but doesn't necessarily need an SUV and prefers a car with a little more oomph. I'd like to recommend a Regal to her. The pushrod engines should satisfy her lead foot well enough (esp. if I c…

BRRRAAAAP! It's music to the ears of a subset of car nuts. Noisy exhaust setups are hardly a new phenomenon, but the fashion for mufflers that intentionally buzz as much as possible is a more recent development in the pantheon of annoying things others do. Exasperation with the muffler rap has led a New Zealand vigilante to start terrorizing cars equipped with what he or she describes as "boy-racer exhausts" in a written manifesto sent to the Marlborough Express. Using the handle "Phantom Expander," the self-righteous vandal has taken to filling the tailpipes of offending cars with self-expanding foam. So far, the four-hour set time of the foam has been the saving grace…

This morning at about 8am I was on I29 heading south between the Canadian border and Grand Forks heading back to Fargo. Just north of Grand Forks I noticed a Charger, a 300, and too matching Aspens heading toward Canada. I thought it just could have been a coincidence but not a half mile later I saw two matching camo'd SUVs tagged by a 4 door Wrangler. Both these vehicles were a little smaller than a Durango it seemed...I'm guessing they were Journeys, but I don't know. They were under light camo, just the front fascia and the back hatch seemed to be covered. About a mile later I saw a Caravan, followed by what was unmistakably a Challenger under complete camo fol…

Well we are changing our vacation plans, we were going to go to Texas and Utah in July. We were going to spend 2 weeks in Plano, Texas where my parents live, however a friend of mine at Holden (yes I have one), has invited us to attend the Indy 300 at Gold Coast, Australia in October. The race will be held from October 18 -21, 2007. So my parents will be meeting us for 2 weeks in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands for 2 weeks in July and joining us in Australia in October. It looks like Texas & Utah will have to wait until next year. Here is a link to the race: http://www.indy.com.au/

Hmmmmm, I got pulled over today. I was behind some old 1995 or so Jeep Cherokee going 40 mph in a 55 mph zone. So I decide to pull around him since it was a 4 lane highway. I blow by him in my Grand Prix going about 65, as I get ahead of him I hear a siren, I think, what an A$$hole trying to pretend he's a cop. So in my mind I think, hmmmm let me show you what I can do. I step on the gas and in a second I'm up to 90 mph. I hear that siren again and I think won't that AHole give it up. I look in my rearview and I see he has the hidden police lights in the grille on. I think, ain't this a b*tch, so I pull over. The cop that was driving the Jeep is in full uniform, his partn…

Today at the exhaust shop, I was standing there watching the guys do their thing, when an old farmer walked up to me and struck up a conversation: "Is this your truck?" "Yup." "You didn't get a Toyota?" "NO! I hate those things!" "Did you see where Toyota is rolling over GM, Ford and Chrysler?" "Yup." "Why do you think that is? I just don't understand that." "It's the media, putting ideas in people's heads. It's not real experience. I've always had good luck with my GM trucks." "Yeah, the media's putting on a big show, trying to put the American companies down. We had one (a Toyota truck) on the farm back in the 80's, and that was enough. It was a good litt…

Oh, it sure is. Beautiful... I guess. *shrugs* My Grand Am is now a fastback... My house has kitty killers... Yeah, it's nice to look at, but I hate it. It's freezing cold for one. I stepped outside and instantly felt a slap of cold air. I walked to the top of the hill, too. It was windy and felt like it was negative 20. Brr. The dirtroad was mostly ice with gravel sprinkled over it. Slippery. Everything has about 6 to 10 inches of snow covering it. As you can see, drifting snow turned my Grand Am into a fastback. My Millenia's doors are frozen shut and were impossible to open. My house has huge kitty killers on it. Some are taller than me. Then there's th…

It's not just for saturns anymore...... Anyways, I've been reading quite a few stories about people cutting, or just doing things a whole new way in this lovely economy. As some of you may or may not know, the 1988 album ...And Justice for All has pretty much no bass to it. Two of the most speculated theories are that the band was still broken up about the death of Cliff Burton two years earlier, so they toned the bass down to inaudible levels as a sign of respect for their dearly departed friend. The other theory is that the band was hazing Jason, the new bassist, and to show him that he could never fill Cliff's shoes, they shut him out from the mixing session and toned the bass down. The rest of the band's official explanation is that they wanted a "garage sound." They were pretty mean to Jason back then...sometimes he would come ba…

SEOUL, South Korea — Punching their fists into the air and shouting "Let's crush them!" some 100,000 North Koreans packed Pyongyang's main square Thursday for an anti-U.S. rally as the communist regime promised a "fire shower of nuclear retaliation" for any American-led attack. Several demonstrators held up a placard depicting a pair of hands smashing a missile with "U.S." written on it, according to footage taken by APTN in Pyongyang on the anniversary of the day North Korean troops charged southward, sparking the three-year Korean War in 1950. North Korean troops will respond to any sanctions or U.S. provocations with "an annihilating blow," one senior official vowe…

Well, I'm still alive and doing well. However, I'm writing this from my computer at work as I still have no power or cable at my house. Which totally sucks btw, considering the storm hit September 13th in the wee hours of the morning and I haven't had power since then. My wife and I are living off generator power - with electrical cords all throughout our house. Our beautiful huge cypress tree in the backyard uprooted during the storm and came crashing down on our shed, ripping the main power line running behind our house on 11th Street totally off it's pole, and damaging my service line too. The big news from a car perspective though is that Ike basically killed …

Of course everyone's seen my '68 Panther (Camaro) vanity plates. They read PANTHR since we're only allowed six characters here in Massachusetts. But I also collect License Plates from all over the world. I've got like 47 or 48 of the United States, in some cases dozens of one state and like 200 of Mass and NH each. This one I got off of eBay and it's hanging up on the wall in my house. Another 170 or so are haning up in my shed/garage. Most I got off eBay and some are as old as the 1920s. Yeah uh huh so we closed early at work today. When I got home and came in from the garage downstairs, I heard a snapping and cracking, and it felt cool in the downstairs family room. Apparently, someone shot out my sliding door glass. Pieces were still slowly falling out onto the floor. Glass was thrown clear across the room, and there was a hole about 1.5 inches across where the projectile came through. The door was still locked, nothing is missing, so I don't believe it was an attempted break-in. Small game season is in right now... so I'm thinking it was some idiot with a gun... or it could have been kids being little a-holes, too. My homeowner's insurance compa…

I've noticed a lot of these over the last year or so...not sure if it's an Arizona thing or something else. It's a small dark blue square with two horizontal yellow bars. Looks like a yellow equals sign '=' on a blue square. Anyone have any idea what it means?

Has it been 7 years already? I remember I was in NYC at The GM building in Manhattan that day. I can remember how blue the sky was , the smell in the air after the attacks and the dust that seem to envelop all of Manhattan as time wore on. I remember the constant whine of sirens as emergency vehicles raced to and fro. Has it been 7 years already, to me it seems like yesterday and I will never forget that day ever. I remember how hard it was to get out of Manhattan, how the cell phones didn't work and the internet came to a grinding halt, no way to let my family know I was ok, and that I was not affected, but who am I kidding, we were all affected, and the United States wi…

DMT Imagine a world where nothing you know now would exsist. An alternate reality if you will. This is what most people decribe DMT as. It has been dubbed the "businessman drug" because the intense effects only last around 30min. The effects are sudden and without warning, where our reality disappears and you see things that have never exsisted. Could you handle this? Would you try it? Who else thinks this is extremely freaky, but cool at the same time? website with more info Hyperspace

I had a friend whose house was foreclosed on a couple weeks ago and he has been crashing in my guest room since then. I would love to kick him out because he is really annoying, but he really doesn't have anywhere else to go. He's going to pay my utilities until he leaves, so thats nice, but I'd rather jsut pay it myself and be able to run across the house naked whenever I please.

Thursday morning, as the sun was rising, you were setting. You never acted your age. You wrote the book on growing old gracefully. Though it was only your body that grew old. I don't think your mind was ever past 40. You were more modern and in-tune than people half your age. A gay grandson wasn't even remotely an issue for you. What a pleasant surprise it was to have an 80-something grandma ask about boyfriends. Pretty great for an old farm girl. Thursday morning, with a son and daughter at your side, your heart decided it was time to go. For the first time ever, you won't be in your chair watching those damn Reds or the godforsaken Bengals when I walk into your ho…

Just kidding. Well, sort of. I'll be needing it for a while yet, but the payments have to go one way or another. Depending on what I decide to do, the truck may be gone before you know it. If I decide that my contracting days are over, it will have to go.

Outlook: cloudy The Economist NORTHERN Europeans will not forget the name Eyjafjallajokull in a hurry, even if they may have trouble pronouncing it. Monday April 19th marked a fifth day of jet-free skies over a huge swathe of the continent as a result of the eruption of the Icelandic volcano, which began pumping significant quantities of ash into the sky last Wednesday. That fine volcanic ash could pose a risk to jet engines, which have cut out in the past after exposure to similar volcanic material. Many of Europe’s busiest airports remained out of action. Britain’s National Air Traffic Service, an organisation that co-ordinates air travel, said that the flight ban wo…

Both laptops are within $10 of each other and of the same brand and similar model. Laptop 1: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T6400 ( 2GHz 800MHz 2MB ) Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium 64 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz Laptop 2: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P7350 ( 2GHz 1GHz 3MB ) Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium 2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz The rest of the specs are either the same or don't factor into my decision. Do I go with the faster FSB but slower Ram and 32bit Vista or do I go with slower FSB but faster RAM and 64bit Vista? Or spend $100 more and get the faster FSB, faster RAM, 4 gigs of ram, and 64-bit Vista?

When my kids were small, I built a really nice playhouse for them. About the same time I bought a Fiat 600 has a project car (see generic example below) My wife thought the car would look cute parked next to the playhouse. Now that my daughter has a daughter of her own, she would like to replicate the experience for her. I am looking for suggestions for diminutive sized cars to park next to the playhouse. What would you suggest. So far the leading contenders are a Nash Metropolitan or a bug-eyed sprite.

I want to know how not to be a dick when dealing with people selling used motorcycles. This is all private sales; no dealerships. The problem is that their price is often too high when Kelley Blue Book and mileage values are factored in. I'm reasonable but when you have bikes that are nearly ten years old, being priced as if they're three years old, that's either being obnoxious or showing no research whatsoever. So when I send an offer, I provide a link to the KBB website, as well as links to other classified ads in nearby cities of the same bike or one that's similar. Also, I've included links to sales threads on forums devoted to the particular bike brand or model. …

We are currently under renovations at work; however, they don't have anything to do with what just happened this morning. There are two elevation changes off the street up to our building. One is the sidewalk with another strip of pavement to the right of it. Then there's another step up to another sidewalk along our windows. A senior lady didn't lift her foot high enough and caught her toe on the upper sidewalk. She went down and bashed her eyebrow on the concrete. An older gentleman had noticed her go down and immediately went out to help her; I saw the commotion and followed. There was a bit of blood on her brow, a bloodshot eye, and she complained about side p…

So, in celebration of that most American of holidays, I thought a Dream Garage thread was in order. And what other rule to base it on besides the V8? Rules on this one are sweet and simple- 1) American brands only. 2) V8 engines only. 3) Maximum of 10 choices. 4) I will allow one concept/one-off selection. 5) I will allow one non-street legal/racecar selection. 6) At least one truck/SUV option. 7) Any era is fair game. Have fun.

I was thinking about this lately. Most of us remember the absurd lines from movies. Some of the funniest lines are in Eddie Murphy movies. However, one Eddie Murphy movie, "Trading Places" has a lot of funny lines, but one of the most profound (in my mind). If you recall, Eddie Murphy is being prepped to make a switch to the Ivy League/Philly Main Line world in "Trading Places." The butler in the movie was really perceptive, especially after years of catering to the snobs that lived in that mansion. As he sends Eddie Murphy off into the limo, he says "just be yourself, they can't take that away from you." Wow. For some reason, that stuck. Have any movie lines r…

I'm very excited for the holiday season this year. I'm set to go. To start, Halloween wasn't bad, but the rest will be amazing. November 1st is when one of the radio stations around here (100.3 WNIC) starts playing Christmas music. Well, I already went out a few times and listened to it on random cruises to here and from there. It's so cheery. Then Thanksgiving should be great fun. Turkey and all the veggies and stuff I can (and can't) handle. Plus, I get like 3 days off school that week. Christmas break is going to be sweet as hell because it's like one of my biggest breaks this year (and almost as long as my summer break because I start at Ke…

Everyone has one frined that always emails chain mail and all kind of useless forwards... My biggest pet-peeve are this type of email: "forward this so that money can be donated to get little Jimmy the baboon heart he needs...". <_< Anyway I got this one today and refused to pass it along but I thought it might be a cool way for some of us to get to know each other better. Watch a 300-HP Kawasaki H2R Race a Veyron, McLaren 12C, 1350-HP GT-R "Although the 2015 Kawasaki H2R is a track-only offering, the crew over at Super Street were eager to find out how well the supercharged sport bike would fare against three supercars including the McLaren MP4-12C, a 1200-hp Bugatti Veyron, and SP Engineering’s 1350-hp Nissan GT-R. Powered by a supercharged 998-cc inline-four cylinder engine, the 476-pound 2015 Kawasaki H2R makes a claimed 300 hp. With the engine and centrifugal supercharger designed together in-house, Kawasaki claims an intercooler isn’t needed to keep air inlet temperatures in check.A half-mile roll race at Minter Airfield in Shafte…

So I have this floor lamp with a end table built into it. Secured by the shaft is casting of an eagle the rests on the table. I remember when I was younger we had it in our living room, but it eventually ended up in the attic when we didn't have a place for it (or it broke, I don't remember). I always thought it was neat, and decided that I wanted to take it with us for my apartment. The lamp shade was gone an the socket for the bulb looked like it was in rough shape, as well as the housing being gone and the wiring being old. However, since they sell kits that let you replace the guts in your old lamp with new ones, I figured I could fix it. In all the madness that was …

So, in your travels, have you ever seen a driveway with two totally opposite vehicles parked in it? I mean, you could figure, say, a Fusion and an F-150, for example, or a Cavalier and an S-10 Blazer. I was leaving my mom's place the other night and saw a shiny gray G3. And their second car, the one no one wants to drive? A black GLK. Post your discordant driveway sightings in this here thread right here then.
