This has been around a while, so it may have been posted before... but I think they've added to their work, and some of it is pretty interesting. Its not my thing, as I'm sure I could not actually drive these little things, but at least they are good for a laugh. I can't help but wonder if GM could do something like this for a retro Microvan... or Micro-SUV... Clever how the bowtie is reversed... I can't believe they copied the '68-'72 Chevy trucks... And some Dodge lovin'... website: www.blow-net.co.jp

After my two recent experiences with car buying, I got to thinking: both myself and my wife could have ended up with very different cars because it was a tough back-and-forth decision. Maybe it could be fun talking about what we're driving in an alternate universe where the final choice went the other way! What's your realistic alternate universe garage? You can go by real life buying experience or just conjecture based on your budget. What are the pros and cons of this alternate universe? Is the grass greener on the other side? (No, your alternate universe self can't be a millionaire celebrity. Realistic entries only!)

I figured this show might be good watching considering the whole eco-conscious movement these days. Penn Jillette and his partner, Teller spend about half an hour debunking Hybrid cars and investigating Nuclear Power. It also has Lesbians, but unfortunately for Reg, there's no nudity. Language is kind of coarse, but it's good watchin' if you have a half-hour to burn. Money is not a great thing... having said that, the wife has brought to my attention that financially we're not in a "good place". Having bought the SKY last year and it's limited use has always been a sore spot with the wife (the home equity loan payment plus full insurance coverage don't help). She feels that by selling the car to pay off other debts would be the best thing financially, although she does say that she doesn't want the car to go. So anyway, if I had to sell the SKY, is anyone here interested in buying it? I'm trying to weigh out my options, like going back to my selling Saturn dealer and seeing what they'd offer to buy it, put an ad in AutoShopper o…

My father brought over some newspapers that they saved from summer 1969 when we landed on the moon (hate to break it to you conspiracy nuts, but the United States did really land there). I though that everyone would get a kick out of some of the ads and prices on cars back then. Get your time machine ready because we could make huge $$ with these: They're having a hard time getting rid of this 69 GTO... I don't know $2995 seems a little expensive for a stick... I've got the fever for a 69 Dodge: There are a few 442's and a couple of other Olds you guys may be interested in: A 54 Corvette, garage kept for $950? Can you do $800? I'll take the '68 I…

one shortcoming ive always disliked about the Nova is the lack of a third pedal.... i REALLY would love to row my own gears, ive been considering a Manual conversion. Ive considered 4 and 5 speeds, but i think go Big or go Home... T56 all the way! Right now i got a TH350, for those who dont know trannys, its a 3 speed auto, not the greatest for gas mileage, but its decently strong but mine is on its way out. its starting to slip pretty bad in first, so here are my options. If i stick with an Auto, im not keeping a 3 speed. im looking at a 200 4-R out of a G Body for the Overdrive, as its a very simple swap. I would have it built to handle alot more power then im putttin…

Yesterday after chickening out from going to Carlisle, I was driving around town aimlessly, when I came to an intersection adjacent to a park next to F&M university campus, and noticed several people standing around with rainbow-colored umbrellas in the hot sunshine. Then I looked again, and saw some protesters holding huge signs reciting Bible verses and yelling things like "if you masturbate to porn, God hates you!". "What the heck is THIS?" I said to myself. So I quickly found a parking spot and approached the gate. Sure enough, it was a Gay Pride festival, right here in little old Lancaster, our first. It was just getting started at the time, but the crowd s…

Ever have a day where little things pile on? First I put my copy of First Impressions of Earth in my cars cd player and its scratched to hell. Then I run to the store for a few things, get home and go to fire up the grill for hamburgers. Out of propane. Then I go into work (I spend like 6 hours a week in my office, I can do most of my work from home) and find a memo about a mandatory sexual harassment thing Friday. Hand written at the bottom: "David, you're going to be there" Then I get a phone call that boiled down to this: (disembodied voice) You didn't pay your mortgage (me) You are teh liar, I totally paid (disembodied voice) lawl, I just lawled all over …

I was wondering what would be an interesting small-block or big-block to drop into an 89 Dodge Dakota? It is that old Dakota Sport I found a while a go. It needs work but I am trying to give my teacher ideas for a custom Dakota. For our next school project, he wants to rice up a Civic so I need something that could turn him away from that. What motors would fit? I was thinking something bigger than a 350. A 454 would be interesting but would it fit? One could be easily pulled from an older pickup around here. Just give me suggestions as to what may fit or what would work nicely. GM motors as well as Mopar suggestions would both work. My idea is to lower it, rear disc brak…

...my ride. After so many new vehicles in so few years, as of this morning I no longer own any vehicle. Soon enough by paper too, once Chase is paid off. Since moving to Philly and working with Acura, I've been demo driving for several months and parked the Mazda. Already miss it, but a payment when it's never used and a free new car is part of my pay didn't make sense...so away the CX-9 went to a new home in the suburbs, to a couple who specifically (and luckily for me, as it was tough) wanted FWD and nothing to do with AWD, trading a 1999 Sienna. Weird. First time since 2006 I've been car-owning-less My demo 2011 Acura TSX Tech will continue to do for a while, follo…

I don't know if anyone else does this, but I'm pretty observant when watching movies...especially when it comes to filming locations. Tonight I was watching Halloween I. The movie is supposed to take place in a fictional town called Haddonfield, Illinois. Yet two scenes are shot at different schools, both the open-air type you see in places like California where there is a mild climate. That would never fly in Illinois during the middle of the winter. Second, in the scene where the doctor is headed to Haddonfield, you can see these gigantic mountains in the background. News flash: Illinois doesn't have mountains! Same thing with Stephen King's "The Stand." There …

This is mainly about my car, but also how much my life sucks in general right now. For those who may not remember or care (then don't bother reading the rest of this post), Wednesday was the day I bought my very first car, my Dodge Intrepid (Friday I took delivery of it). To celebrate, I planned to give it a thorough cleaning inside and out, especially since we were going to take it to my cousin's for Thanksgiving. However, since it was cold, raw, and kind of rainy out, I just couldn't get up the energy to go do it. So instead I got up early Thursday morning, and after baking my famous (in the family circle) Pumpkin Pie, I took it to the car wash and cleaned it inside a…

First, is the parking brake supposed to work? :P Seriously... My yard is on a hill if anyone noticed from some of my pics. The driveway is level. However, today I washed and waxed my GA. Since the driveway needs re-graveled, my GA gets filthy just sitting there when it rains. So I parked it in the yard.. and set the parking brake. Well, I like to sit in it and listen to music sometimes. I was doing that last night. I ended up messing around and pressed in the clutch... *surprise* it starts rolling back. It now sits 3ft from where it was originally. I wasn't expecting that... So, this is nice to know... Second, how do I remove the badges? Or, should I even do it wit…

Anyways, AZ has a decent deal, 5 qts of Valvoline Durablend and a Bocsh oil filter for 20 bucks. I wanted to see if my filter was included (since it tends to be a bit more) The guy asked me what I was running now. Mobil 1, of course. Then the guy proceeds to tell me that once I use a full synthetic, I cannot go back, or the car will blow up. Then, he decides to…

Well, after reading through the classifieds while helping my girlfriend look for a cheap computer monitor, I couldn't help but notice a bevy of ads from local Chevy and B-P-GMC dealers seeking sales associates and offering training and the like and it started to think about it. And since I know there are alot of members here that have sold/are selling cars for a living, why not ask? The big question is - how is the car sales business for a young 22 year-old college-educated male with a real passion for cars (me)? As far as the others: What are these 'training programs' typically like? What's the difference between an internet sales position and regular sales? What's …

Yes, my furry idiot has blue feet. I have no idea how this happened, and I'm not sure I want to know. I had just gotten back from picking up some food with the wagon (Arkus went along for the ride), when I let him out of the car and took my dinner inside. Zora wanted to eat so I let Arkus stay outside for a few minutes. Big mistake. He went through the invisible fence and was gone. Spent an hour looking, only to get a call from the cops that a neighbor had him. So I went and picked him up ( and got another annoying lecture from another annoying do-gooder). When I let him into the house I looked down and saw that his feet looked odd. In better light, I could see…

I left my house yesterday with the intentions of enjoying a weekend with fellow Solstice owners in Canton, Ohio. I arrived on the scene, meeted and greated with the 20+ Solstice owners that were in attendance at Poncho's Southwestern in Canton and headed back to the hotel. Luckily, there is a night club/bar connected to the hotel that was open. I walk in, and naturally the first bartender to capture my attention gets the duty of serving me Bud Lights all evening. Upon sitting there and chatting I found out that Erin (such a CUTIE!) is 21 and goes to school, etc. Then for some reason pets came up. We talked about them and how long we've had 'em. Well, Thursday the SES light illuminated in my Aurora, which coincided with an increasingly loud growling noise from the engine bay. Over the course of the day, it grew louder and was noticable under acceleration close to the shift points. Since I finished up work late, I had to wait 'till Friday to get it looked at. Took it to a local Gemini/Goodyear shop since I know the gents and they were able to squeeze me in as soon as they opened and they, well, couldn't get at it to figure it out. LONDON — An entrepreneur in Surrey, England, boasts a nine-month waiting list for what he says is "the best car wash in the world." It ought to be; he charges $11,500 per car for the 61-step wash treatment. Paul Dalton, interviewed by the U.K.'s Daily Record newspaper, says he spends 64 hours on each car for the high-priced Pinnacle Wash treatment. Among his secret weapons is a special Brazilian wax called Zymol Royale that he keeps locked up because of its scarcity. Dalton claims his wax finishes last a year. Celebrities including soccer players and aging rocker Rod Stewart are among Dalton's clients; Stewart reportedly splurges on the Pinnacle Wash for his Ferrari Enz…

Yesterday, I finally began work on the electra. I started by sanding down all of the rust on the passenger side and spraying it with semi flat white auto enamel. Today, im going to continue doing that u tillall of the rust is gone. Then im going to use body filler to fill in the dings, small dents, and a few holes i discovered. then im going to repaint. Finally, its going to the paintshop for a new coat of paint. As, money flow increases, the nasty rear quarter damage will get removed. After the exterior, theres only a few mechanical things to get done. The interior just needs a headliner.

Last night while on my way to see a friend, I stopped off to fill up my Riv. After spending $40 to fill up from ABOVE a half tank, I proceeded north on Route 100 ( also known as Central Park Avenue) anyway about a mile up the road, I was cruising in the right lane at about 35MPH, it was dark out and raining, I had my wipers on. Suddenly, a dark blue '91 Accord pulls out of a parking lot, nearly takes the front of my Riv off, and pulls out into the road. He begins to gain some speed, at this point I had flashed him my high beams and was racing to catch up to him to curse him out. The Cutlass has been up and running since Sunday. But who cares about that? I'm sure something else had you sitting there pulling your hair over what it could be. That vehicle... in my sig... it's a lovely Mazda AZ-Wagon. You probably said to yourself "Hmm, that looks alot like the Scion xB", but it actually predates it, back to 1994. What you see if actually the latest of many facelifts on the 3rd gen. It's based on the lovely Suzuki Wagon R. I know, it must have been killing you wondering what it was.

Hmm......this is interesting... My friends ( who would love to set the wagon on fire on roll ot down a hill ) seem to be car hunting for me, though I'm not too sure why....for a new beater. So far, they have found a few... 95 civic 4dr, 105k, auto, almost 90% highway, about 1100 bucks... 96 Dodge Neon 4dr, 86k, 900 bucks..... 95 Plymouth Neon (we had one on these! ) 4dr, 92k, needs a starter, 700 bucks o/b/o.. Worth looking at any of these? I'm not exactly in any rush to rid myself of the ol' wagon (though it is going to need a bit of work soon) Though I'm afraid a door might rust off......

Here are six reasons why you should think before you speak - The last one is great! Have you ever spoken and wished that you could Immediately take the words back... Or that you could crawl into a hole? Here are the Testimonials of a few! people who did.... FIRST TESTIMONY: I walked into a hair salon with my husband and three kids in tow and asked loudly, 'How much do you charge for a shampoo and a blow job?' I turned around and walked back out and never went back. My husband didn't say a word... He knew better. SECOND TESTIMONY: I was at the golf store comparing different kinds of golf balls. I'm embarking on yet another car search. It seems to be a yearly occurrence for me, though I still have a ways to go to reach the likes of Ocnblu's quarterly car purchasing spree. I'm probably not too far off at this rate... While I've loved my Legacy Turbo, it's becoming a bit of a burden. It's hard on insurance, even harder on gas, and hasn't been holding up as well as I had hoped. It's a great car with a performance pedigree (if you ignore the soft suspension, anyways), and It's likely to be my favorite over time. With that said, it has some faults that I overlooked originally. The most notable has to be the aforementioned gas mileage with my average often hanging bel…

So for whatever reason I was daydreaming the other day and started wondering what gives certain cars their distinctive exhaust note. Is it the muffler only or the engine, or all sorts of things? Now before I get flamed terribly, I have installed and/or have been around cars with full turbo-back exhaust systems, cat-back systems, and just universal mufflers on them. I see how they completely change the exhaust note. But the muffler from a V8 car put on a 4-cyl, isn't alone going to make the 4cyl sound like that V8. So the engine has to be a part of it as well as the pipe diameter. Take for instance Pontiac...there is a distinctive sound that a Pontiac makes(thinki…

We are currently under renovations at work; however, they don't have anything to do with what just happened this morning. There are two elevation changes off the street up to our building. One is the sidewalk with another strip of pavement to the right of it. Then there's another step up to another sidewalk along our windows. A senior lady didn't lift her foot high enough and caught her toe on the upper sidewalk. She went down and bashed her eyebrow on the concrete. An older gentleman had noticed her go down and immediately went out to help her; I saw the commotion and followed. There was a bit of blood on her brow, a bloodshot eye, and she complained about side p…

Apparently, Dubois is riddled with people who can't properly park a vehicle. Whether this is out of inability or just sheer laziness remains to be seen... This CRV driver just left it parked halfway on the lane, partially in two separate Handicapped spaces. This Explorer driver wasn't satisfied with a single parking spot and clearly needed all four spaces. To be fair, this guy was still in his vehicle... and happened to be a 2015 Tahoe with M plates. The real question is why he was in Dubois, of all places...

Has anyone seen their new video? It's a cheeeeeezy ripoff of '80s metal band Sphincter... they are riding around in a 3rd gen Camaro at the beginning, with t-tops and rear glass removed so they can all jump around in the car and act like morons. Then they get to the concert, and there are more "white trash" metalheads outside. There is a 2nd gen Firebird, a '70s or '80s Silverado, and a '70s Corvette doing donuts. Also in this video is possibly the scariest woman I have ever seen, doing a "sexy" dance on the hood of a Fiero. Sorry about your eyes BV.

Exciting stuff... electric is becoming reality. "With its long-awaited Roadster now heading into production, Tesla is lifting its gaze to the horizon, which may not be all that distant. In a recent interview with CNET, Tesla co-founder Elon Musk revealed that the company will have the design for the anticipated Whitestar electric sedan finalized within this year's second quarter, and have a functional prototype ready before the end of the year. Musk also confirmed that the electric sedan, whose name could very well change (probably to something that sounds less like a Ford minivan) before it hits the market, will be priced in the $50-60k range, and be produced – likel…

So, in your travels, have you ever seen a driveway with two totally opposite vehicles parked in it? I mean, you could figure, say, a Fusion and an F-150, for example, or a Cavalier and an S-10 Blazer. I was leaving my mom's place the other night and saw a shiny gray G3. And their second car, the one no one wants to drive? A black GLK. Post your discordant driveway sightings in this here thread right here then.

Found this on Craigslist: 1993 Buick Park Ave Ultra - $1900 - 57,000 miles I got the address and it's still available. It's only about 15 minutes from my house. I'm going to look at it this evening. The guy says it has a small exhaust leak and the transmission cooler line is leaking, but those are the only known issues. Opinions? Things to look for? I know it's not a truck, but it's cheap and with only 57k miles it'll probably have a lot of life left in it. I could still use the CRV if I need to haul something large, but all of my tools would still fit in the trunk.

All right, ladies, gents, I don't know how many of you have been or are in the Bowling Green, KY area, but I took a little side trip up there today whilst the rest of the family was enjoying our annual Family Reunion in Portland, TN. This will be a short work week, as I am taking Friday off to make it a 3-day Easter weekend and flying out of town. Friday will mean some good fish for lunch and dinner (maybe salmon and halibut) and Easter Sunday ought to bring a good brunch buffet. Today is Passover. I asked one of my co-workers if he was celebrating the Seder meal, but he told me he was not observant. I would like to get invited to one someday to experience it. Are you doing anything to celebrate this week's religious holidays? Resting? Traveling somewhere?

Toronto Star article Is "Canadian" the new black? Perhaps – that is if you're a racist speaking in code. Recent revelations that the term "Canadian" is being used to replace racist names for black people have got a Texas assistant district attorney into trouble and have left others wondering what exactly it means to be labelled a Canadian in the American south. Long derogated as weak-kneed liberals with lax laws and funny monopoly money, Canadians have carried a negative connotation in certain regions of America – but not as a replacement for the N-word. Earlier this week a columnist with the Houston Chronicle uncovered an email from Harris County assistant distri…

Yes, I've been scarce around here. The reasons are many & varied. Prob. the biggest & most significant is that I've been trying to spend as much time as possible with both the girls. Amelia it seems is growing up twice as fast as Sofia did, sh is seven months old as of Sunday. The day before that she got her first tooth. I'm trying to get as much Q.T. with all three as possible, while catching up on a lot of non-C&G related parts of my life. I still love you guys, I love this forum. But I have to admit the news from GM these s NOT what I need to cheer me up. I get up at 3:30am, go to UPS, end my slave-labor there…

2022 is another year from which everyone is ready to move on. The world continued to recover from the impacts of COVID and is learning to live with the variants. Mass shootings unfortunately remain common, though this past year had particularly shocking events at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas and an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado. Inflation was rampant, with high gas prices due to the conflict in Ukraine affecting the cost of almost everything. Putin's misguided war in Ukraine has cost tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of lives of both military and civilians. Cryptocurrencies crashed, and home mortgage interest rates doubled as the Fed tried t…

WHAT IF: GM had fully and properly engineered the Oldsmobile 5.7L diesel V8? Where would diesel powered vehicles be in terms of sales percentage today? I believe that Americans would have bought a lot more of them, which would have led to evolution of the technology for economy and performance. Diesel power would have owned a very large percentage of the U.S. market to this day, as it has in Europe. BUT... we all know how it was handled and were we are today. What do you all think?

Probably an old joke, but I came across this while reading jokes about engineers. -- The Pontiac that was Allergic to Vanilla Ice Cream For the engineers among us who understand that the obvious is not always the solution, and that the facts, no matter how implausible, are still the facts ... A complaint was received by the Pontiac Division of General Motors: "This is the second time I have written you, and I don't blame youfor not answering me, because I kind of sounded crazy, but it is a fact that we have a tradition in our family of ice cream for dessert after dinner each night. But the kind of ice cream varies so, every night, after we've eaten, the whole fa…

So I was driving home on a two-lane road, and see a possum crossing the street. I slow down to make sure he gets across my side, and he successfully did. However, there was a car coming in the oncoming lane that he wasn't so fortunate to avoid, and I had the unpleasant experience of hearing its death. I was probably 15 feet from where he was hit as I was driving by. I hear a thud-caa-runch and then a second later a nasty splatter. Not something I ever want to hear again. Gross.

So I took the T&C, which we have lovingly dubbed "The Bus" to school today so I could taking my crappy bike and my RC plane to hang out with my friend. Too windy to fly and my bike is a piece of $h! I usually fall asleep watching TV episodes I downloaded on my computer. Ah well, it's not like I have anything to do later today.

Last night's Metallica show here in Lisbon was very, very good! Those guys seem to have plenty of energy left in them and if the setlist is any indication of where they got or are getting inspiration for their new album, then let me tell you it is promising: apart from Reload's The Memory Remains, everything they pleyed was from the 1983-1991 period. Needless to say, but my voice is completely f#cked up today Here's the setlist: Creeping Death For Whom The Bell Tolls Rid The Lightning Disposable Heroes The Unforgiven ...And Justice For All The Memory Remains The Four Horsemen Orion Fade To Black Master of Puppets Battery - - - - Sad But True Nothing Els…

August and Frederik Duesenberg, 1920s (article by the Des Moines Register) Two of the world's finest car builders got their start in Iowa. Cars adorned with the Duesenberg name were known for speed, style and luxury. Frederick Duesenberg was born in Germany in 1876, and August Duesenberg was born there in 1878. They arrived in the United States in 1885. Their widowed mother emigrated with them and four of their siblings. An older brother had already arrived and welcomed his family to a farm at Rockford. By the late 1890s, the brothers were skilled mechanics, operating bicycle-and-motorcycle shops, Fred in Rockford and "Augie" in Garner. They moved to Des Moines about…

went to a site that i used to frequent due to the wealth of information on 69 chevys. they had this little feature posted It’s 1970 and you’re enjoying a day at the strip. The typical cars file up to the line and charge from the gate. Then you see a 4,500-lb ’69 Chevy Kingswood 9 passenger wagon lumber up to the line, its massive body dwarfing everything else around. They can’t be serious! What’s that doing here? Before you can contemplate further, it launches down the ¼ mile and thunders across the line a mere 12.41 seconds later, at 111.88 mph. Stunned, you can’t help but think “What the hell just happened??” Well, the explanation is simple. This particular Kings…
