Flybrian's Random Car Showcase Presents... The 1993 Cadillac Sixty-Special Through boredom and...well, just boredom, I bring you the first in likely many little 'diaries' of a completely random car. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Throughout Cadillac's history, the Sixty-Special moniker was used to denote trims of the Series 60 Cadillac that were in some ways - well - special. The very first model to bear the name was the 1938 Sixty-Special, featuring a longer wheelbase, lower ride height, and no runningboards. Over the years, Sixty-Specials typically had slightly extended wheelbases, more chrome decoration, a top-tier Cadillac model, or simply the highest trim level of the…

As some know, I've been out of work with no pay for 7 business days due to abdominal pain that started with a trip to the ER Thursday, December 1. Given this morning's events, I figured I'd fill you all in...& give some other news as well.... That other news being the death of my grandfather, Virgil Weimer, this morning (Friday, December 9, 2005) in Mt Morris IL. After Thanksgiving, he had increasingly refused to eat. So, it was not a big surprise...but, still isn't easy. Unlike with my grandmother just over 3 years ago, we had no "advanced warning" from him; he died soon after he woke up this morning. Like with my grandmother, howeve…

I don't see the problem... -- -- -- -- -- >>A jury has convicted an 80-year-old Wilmington, Del. woman of abusing her 82-year-old husband by forcing him to live at the family junkyard with a pot for bathing and couch to sleep on. Shirley M. Wilson told jurors she pulled her husband, who was a stroke victim, out of nursing home and set him up in a backroom of their office at the junkyard so he could "come home and get to work," according to The News Journal. Wilson represented herself. Last week's trial lasted three days and then jurors convicted Wilson of elderly abuse. Don Wilson was found lying on the couch in a soiled diaper and pajama top in late March…

Like always, I saw these 2 awesome cars this past week just driving around doing errands with the family. I have no exciting details or anecdotes to reveal this time around regarding the cars in question other than when I pointed them out to my wife and kids, I was responded back by silence and I could sense the ambience was a big fat MEH! I, on the other hand was super delighted! A Silver 996 911 GT2 Im posting this pic like that from that angle as that is how I saw it on the highway when I passed it. The driver looked like an older gentleman driving his sports car without any intentions of breaking any speed limits. It seemed like he was babying his …

My computer is a Dell Dimension 4600 running on Windows XP. I haven't had any issues with viruses, spam, spyware, or even pop-ups since I've had it. However, I attempted to download a setup program on LimeWire earlier tonight and have since been bombarded by spam, spyware, and endless pop-ups. My desktop background has been replaced by "Active Desktop Recovery", and my system has been running extremely slowly and freezes often. I ran Ad-Aware, which found over 250 "Critical Objects", many of which were considered High-Risk threats. Usually the program is able to remove (or quarantine) everything without a problem, but tonight, several can't be removed. I've remove…

So there's this girl I really like, so I told my other friend and she asked her who she liked online. It was some other guy, so she told her that I liked her. She was really surprised and said that she had never thought of me that way. We are really good friends and talk all the time in school (sophomore in high school). When we talk it feels so right and it is so easy to talk to her. My other friend thought she may have liked me because she says she talks about me a lot. She said the only two guys she talks about are me and the guy she likes. I feel like crap and completely dejected. I don't know whether I should give up or if I should wait and see if she changes …

Almost a year ago, I found myself without a job. 2 months later, I started working again ... at a call center job that I just do not like, which may be causing, or at the very least, making my continued abdominal pains worse. Thus, I've been looking for a new job for a couple months, but have not found anything in particular...yet. So, knowing that "they say" the best jobs are found networking ... wondered who all here might be interested in forming a "networking" group of sorts ... and, no it doesn't have to be all about jobs. It could be networking for anything . If you're interested, let me know..... Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:f…

So I have a friend who is finally getting rid of his learners and getting his full license. He told me he was buying a car for 500$ from his great uncle and that it was American and he thought it was a GM but beyond that he didn't know what it was as the name of the car was unfamiliar (he couldn't quite remember it). He described it as a "big white coupe" with red leather upholstery and that the car was MY 1990. I came by there today only to find out that the car he spoke of was a 1990 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo in white with the Garnet leather interior. It has 100'000 miles and is in pretty decent shape. It has the fully functional factory original Oldsmobile Visu…

This could very well be something I'll start doing monthly...or even bi-monthly. You see, I have over a decade of old "Car & Driver" magazines stored in a Rubbermaid bin in my closet, and I need to put them to good use. Here's the idea I had: every month, pull one random issue out of mothballs and scan something random from the issue I select. It could be an ad, it could be an article. Every page is fair game. To start us off, I decided to show off a bunch of random junk. Since this is the first -- or last, I'm not sure -- it's deserving of a light boom. My wife Kimberley and I are going to take a 6 week vacation in July/August of this year. Two weeks we will spend home in Plano, Texas visiting my parents and extended family. However we saw a commercial on TV about visiting Utah. It looked really cool and neither of us has ever been there. So we were thinking about renting a car in Texas and driving to Utah and back since we will have four weeks to play like little kids in Utah. So does anyone on these great forums live there, or have you visited there? If you have let me know, I would like to know what you thought of Utah. Thanks in advance!

LONDON — An entrepreneur in Surrey, England, boasts a nine-month waiting list for what he says is "the best car wash in the world." It ought to be; he charges $11,500 per car for the 61-step wash treatment. Paul Dalton, interviewed by the U.K.'s Daily Record newspaper, says he spends 64 hours on each car for the high-priced Pinnacle Wash treatment. Among his secret weapons is a special Brazilian wax called Zymol Royale that he keeps locked up because of its scarcity. Dalton claims his wax finishes last a year. Celebrities including soccer players and aging rocker Rod Stewart are among Dalton's clients; Stewart reportedly splurges on the Pinnacle Wash for his Ferrari Enz…

If you happen to be visiting Saudi Arabia, don't drift your rental car, you could lose your head. A popular amateur sport in the kingdom, drivers push their cars into skids at high speeds through traffic while spectators gather on the side of the road to watch and cheer, sometimes with disastrous results. Scores and scores of videos of the practice, called “Hadwalah”, are available on Youtube. In the video below, a Honda Accord is seen speeding down a highway with guns blazing out of the windows. The driver later turns around and drifts next to a school bus full of children. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGt0RnZcO88 Saudi police have been cracking down on the practi…

Here we go again. So they replaced both the master and slave clutch cylinders. It worked good...for about a week. Saturday night while I was delivering I started having problems. I would have the clutch all the way in and the car sounded like it was going to stall when it was at as stop and in first (like if you were taking the clutch off without giving it gas). It wouldn't come out of gear either...and when I tried to go it would lurch forward and stall. It did this to be like 10 times, and when I got stuck being stalled horizontally in the middle of a main road I had enough. It's like it's gonna kill me one of these times! So I go home and get the Shadow...which made a …

My beautiful wife spent the afternoon working on one of her home made soups and at 4:00 she had to go out to pick up some things so she turned the soup off because she didn't want it to burn, said she'd be back in an hour. Stupid me decides he's hungry and can't wait so I decide to turn the soup back on but then I come back to cheers and gears and forget to check on the soup. Next thing you know the front door opens around 5:15 and she asks what's burning? I am such an ass.

This weekend I participated in my yearly ritual of viewing the newest Saw flick. I must say that I was especially impressed and in fact, I think this is probably the BEST Saw movie since the original (Which IMO is the best Saw) The movie really digs deeper into why Jigsaw became what he is and invokes sympathy on the part of the viewer. It also wraps up even more of the loose ends in all three of the previous movies and it has the classic Saw twist at the end. I would reccommend it to anyone who loves suspense and psychological thrillers. It's pretty graphic but I didn't think it was as bloody or intense as the last one. (I'm very squeamish) Those of you who watch horror…

At the moment, it's the new Ford Focus ST. In Europe, it undercuts the pricing of the Golf GTI by a lot, so it could very well sell for $19,995 in the States. I still think the Golf is classier, but the Focus has more character and better performance. Sending the entire new Focus line-up here would be difficult, but not just the ST. It'd be one of those low-volume, image-building niche cars. Hmm, also, sending the Alfa 159 and Brera here would benefit the style-conscious. I'm doubtful it's as thorough as the 3, but it is cool, in the literal sense of cool. They could sell 'em at Maserati stores.

Howdy all C&G Forum fans, time to get the Sci-Fi debate on! So we have what has been well received as the official reboot of Star Trek. Characters that truly represent the original crew of the Enterprise and some kick ass entertaining movies. Officially original Spock has died and a solid tribute to him was done in the last movie. Sadly the actor playing Chekov died over the summer due to an accident with his jeep and pinning him down till he suffocated and died. So lets discuss where we think this story is going to go, take the easy way with refiliming the same story lines, new story lines, what? How will they deal with Chekov's death? Will they mark it as …

Hello all, this is my first review ever of anything, and it's about a burger sold by the Golden Arches here in Canada as the mighty Angus. Angus.... So. Let's start with the presentation. Very nice exterior, classy lines, and I love the brown paint on the bun. The seed pattern is very stylized and reminds me of perforated leather. It starts great, and it continues nicely. The lettuce was full of colour, clearly they thought of the rendering of the foliage and the colour saturation of the greens. But I'm not sure this is 4K, I'd say it's more of a judder-free 60hz 1080p. Alright, so the sauce. very viscous, smoky sweet, probably some diesel soot colo…

test drove an 08 Magnum again yesterday and remembered why i like them as much as I do. I'm getting sick of driving in tall cars and want something low slung again. And the utility, yeah. The way the clamshell hatch opens, perfect for getting to your cargo. With the 08 interior updates in tan, a livable interior! Not a vessel of death! And just when i might like it, they kill it. Good values on the lot, BTW. Very affordable. Really also makes a good case for the cool wagons like the CTS wagon and G8 wagon.

I went to Palm Sunday mass today at St. Peter's and saw the Pope! One of our instructors knows someone here in Rome who was able to get us tickets so we could have seats in the piazza rather than standing, so I was in the middle near the obelisk. I was surrounded by mostly Italian speakers, but there were people from Poland, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, and a ton of other countries there (flying flags). The mass was long...about 3 hours...and the sun was beating down on my neck, but it was definitely an experience. I'm not that religious of a Catholic, but being there and hearing singing echo throughout the whole piazza and hearing tens of thousands clapping at the…

So tonight I was walking back to my apartment/dorm with my friends and we were all drunk, and while we were walking I noticed how much better cars look when you're drunk. First, a '95 or so Camaro, which looked really low and sleek. I was like "holy $h! that Camaro looks awesome," then we went past a G6 coupe that looked freaking amazing. It looked like it was some super-sleek concept car or something. Yeah, that's my rant for the night. I'm still "under the influence" right now, but I'm basically sober.

Well yeah, since finding out shock-n-awe style on May 15th that the bodyshop I work at would be closed by the end of the munt due to a multi-year drop-off in business (yes, that was today, our last day) despite a golden local reputation that was built over nearly 5 decades, all my staff have been clearly in emotional turmoil. Some have worn it on their sleeves while others have appeared to be resigned (bad word) to the fact almost from the minute of the announcement. Some wished the axe had dropped immediately and more mercifully, instead of two weeks of torture as we choked off our insurance company contracts and watched our business drop to near zero by the end, while…

Delta Charges U.S. Troops Returning From Afghanistan $2,800 In Baggage Fees WASHINGTON -- Delta Air Lines is facing intense criticism after charging 34 U.S. soldiers returning from Afghanistan $2,800 in baggage fees. The incident came to light on Tuesday after a couple of the new-media savvy soldiers recorded a video about their ordeal and posted it on YouTube. "We showed up and found out we had too many bags," said Army Staff Sgt. Robert O'Hair in the video, which was shot on their flight. "We had four bags, and Delta Air Lines only allows three bags. Anything over three bags you have to pay for, even though there's a contract between the United States government and …

Has everyone seen the little 20-inch tall, 10 pound Nepalese teenager that's gunning for the world's record for Shortest Boy? He's a funny little tyke, mugging for the camera in the video clips that are on the net. He's going all out to win the title. I think he should win... why? He's got a lot going for him. He'd make a great spy. He'd make a great porn star. He'd make a great karate instructor. He makes me feel tall. Anyway, let's wish him the best for a good life.

Well it''s an abnormally warm--hell it's a record-breaking warm Saturday. The sun is out and it's nice as hell. It's strange and not right but I think it's a great opportunity to give the cars a wash and vacuum them out. Maybe I'll take some picks when I'm done Anyone else got the same thing in mind?

Hi all, I had thorghly enjoyed my ownership experience with my Malibu SS over the last year. Then my brother Got a Mustang and my folks got an Aura and I feel like I have the bland car of the family. The aura destorys the malibu in every way, sick powertrain blows away the 3900 4 speed combo, better styling and features for the price. My brothers Mutang has a deffinet cool factor and the RWD is great though the 4.0 V6 in it is pretty crappy and it has a solid axel and is a ford. So I was thinking what I would do to replace the malibu if I did take the plunge and this is the scheme I came up with IF I decided to get a new car. I decided the only way to …

The silver car on the far left in the first pic is my car, go on down and lots of cool pics of old Fords in this thread. Oh, and BTW, if you look at the really hairy guy standing next to the blue and white 55 T-bird, with the little girl behind him...that's me with my daughter Christina in tow. Enjoy Chris

Okay... So, the funny thing is, every car I've ever owned I've never had to really buy new tires because the car has always died before I've needed new ones. Now, with my current car, I've had it a while, and I bought new tires when I first got it because my mechanic recommended it before I actually purchased it, but now I'm wondering if I need new ones. Exactly how bad do you let tires get before you change them? I have tread on them.. it's not like they're bald. However, yesterday I skid for the first time since I've owned the car since April 2002. Now, I'm thinking it was simply because of the road... ... it rained lightly yesterday and I was on my way to th…

1994 Ford Powerstroke - Nevermind that the truck itself is hideous... ...but the interior? Please. Sure, some concepts have weird, ugly, and downright stupid interior designs, but at least they're trying something out. Where's the 'concept' of this concept? --Brought to you by 3:14am. 3:14am - What the hell are you doing this late?

...and I couldn't talk smack. Went to Maryland today to my cousin's son's graduation party. They live on a farm, and had one of their pastures opened up for parking. The lot was brimming with Ford trucks, and I didn't have my Sierra to do a smackdown... I had to drive my mom's Cobalt! I was so mad! :AH-HA_wink:

I want to let you guys in on a little secret. I've come up with a plan (it's brilliant, if I do say so myself), to save a bunch of money on gasoline with my Sierra. I told you guys before, my neighbors have a Yaris. OK, the plan is this: tonight, under cover of darkness (and I'm going to dress in a black leotard and paint my face black to ensure I go undetected), I am going to SWITCH GAS TANKS between my truck and the tiny Yaris. What do you guys think? Huh? It's quite the brainstorm, eh? Instead of $90+ to fill my tank, it might take about, ohhh... $35. KaCHING! Instant savings at the pump! I just wonder how long it will take my neighbor to notice how much mor…

This car used to be parked outside one of my dad's apartment buildings, and although it was an I6, I was always enamoured with it. However, the owner never put it for sale, moved, and I hadn't seen it for the past year. Now it's on Craigslist, and I'm wondering if it's worthwhile checking out, because it'd be a bit of a drive. Last I saw it, it had surface rust, but to what extent escapes me. It's also a two speed auto, so it'll have a hard time keeping up with a Geo Metro. Has anyone had any experience with this powertrain, and if I were to check it out, is there anything I should be aware of in particular with this model? http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/cto/100…

While on my trip to Ohio for fireworks yesterday, i saw this odd looking SUV. I first saw it about a mile south of the Tech Center, but this was as close as i could get to it, on the on ramp to 696. At first i thought it was a Jeep Commander, but on the sides it had the Hummer name. On the back, the names and logos were covered with black tape. I dont know what it was, but it defanitly wasn't a H2 or H3. Does anyone know anything about this?

So last year.. just over a year ago my computer crashed and we never found out why, we just replaced it a few months later. Well, the other day this computer I'm on (Dell Dimension 5100) decided to not load up at all so I thought it was broken. Well, yeah, my mom remembered my grandma telling her something about a battery in the computer. So, my mom's checking out the computer, replaces this stupid battery, and it works again. Brilliant! Anyway, this is the good part.. For some dumb reason, we kept my old computer around in the basement. As luck would have it, my mom thought to replace its stupid battery today and.. bam!.. it works. So now I have every last Photoshop ch…

Team Chevy Rolls Out New Chevrolet R07 Racing Engine Transition to New-Generation NASCAR Small-Block V-8 Begins at Texas Motor Speedway FORT WORTH, Texas – On the heels of the successful introduction of the new Impala SS race car in NASCAR Nextel Cup competition, Team Chevy is beginning the transition to the new Chevrolet R07 racing engine. http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/11/19/chainle...s.ap/index.html This is interesting, though I personally have very few problems with any of my chains. Couple this with Shimano's new electronic shifters/derailleurs, and you have a bike that's virtually maintenance free.

So I'm coming back from the mines last night at 1h30 in the morning. I press open the garage door opener, turn the car into the garage, think "this is gonna be tight" (the car is not the MINI but an old VW Passat company car) and suddenly this scratching sound....... rear left fender scratched at the wheel well area... an expensive trip this will be, and what pisses me off is that it's the same f@#king turn I do every single day when I get home...

Summer's coming/here, and inevitably, I have received my annual fyreworks catalog in the mail, despite (& in spite ??) of the disclaimer that NJ & DE residents cannot buy, transport, possess or operate fyreworks without a permit. Many years ago, a temporary co-worker got me a great grab-bag of fun, and about 4 years ago, a brief-cased sized box of them --that survived a to-the-ground building fire (they were in the walk-in safe)-- likewise provided more fun. I'd really like to get some more, and the catalog is SO enticing. Pyro-Impact, Big Bomb Jumbo Cracker, Red, White & Boom... sigh! Anyway, there's a few fyrewerks stores in PA, one in Easton.... any of y…

Just curious...this search that has stretched a couple months to replace my Avalanche (coming off lease in 5 weeks) is contiuning. My latest option is picking up something used in the US, and bringing it back to Canada. Prices are much more reasonable even after the exchange rate, as is the selection. After driving one here, of all things an 03 or 04 Escaldade ESV (maybe EXT), mainly because of the 6.0L. Maybe a Denali XL too. Important is that the wife likes it too (although I am sure she'd take a Suburban for a lot less $$, and no 6.0L engine). The one here I drove got sold the next day. I've read all up about the hoops that have to be jumped through at US Custo…
