I heard from someone today that the Chrysler dealers that are being shut down have to have their inventory gone by June 9th, and thus are offering 30-40% off MSRP on cars and 40-50% off MSRP on trucks and SUVs. Has anyone else heard this or have the ability to confirm it? Not that I'm going to be buying anything anyways most likely, but I do know a couple people possibly looking for a new car.

Rumormill: Chrysler cancels development of Phoenix V6 engines Posted Oct 21st 2008 1:28PM Link to Autoblog The Chrysler rumormill is running at full steam for obvious reasons, and the latest talk surrounds Chrysler and its $3 billion Phoenix V6 engine program. Word on the street is that the project has been canceled, which makes abundant sense if in fact a Chrysler merger is imminent. If a deal to merge Chrysler with either General Motors or Renault/Nissan materializes, both potential mates have V6 engines that are vastly superior to anything nestled under the hood of a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep. Why would either automaker want to spend $3 billion for something it alrea…

Saving Chrysler. Maybe. Cerberus is not out to bail out the automaker for the good of America. What the firm—and the union—really want. (Taken from Newsweek) May 14, 2007 - Detroit was stunned Monday morning to wake up to the news that Chrysler had been sold to Cerberus Capital Management, a Wall Street private equity firm named for the three-headed dog that guards the gates of Hell. The unsettling news grew even more ominous when one of the Detroit TV stations began broadcasting the news conference live from Germany with a stern-sounding German translator drowning out the English being spoken by DaimlerChrysler Chairman Dieter Zetsche. It all reminded me of that R.E.M…

Subaru Legacy and Outback, Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring new IIHS Top Safety Picks by Jonathon Ramsey (RSS feed) on Aug 27th 2009 at 6:29PM Four 2010 model year vehicles have just been awarded Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety: Subaru's Outback and Legacy, the Dodge Avenger and Chrysler's Sebring. Top Safety Picks are given to those vehicles that come equipped with electronic stability control and receive front, side, and rear crash test ratings of 'Good' in IIHS testing. The Legacy has boasted a 'Good' rating for a few years now, while the all-new Outback takes the cake on its first try. The Sebring and Avenger continue their ru…

Well, it's an Eve rap video....but I can't believe there is a new Sebring in a rap video. Obviously Chrysler paid for this. I don't say that because I don't think the Sebring looks good, because it looks pretty sweet with the big rims in the video......I just can't believe a rapper put a $25K car in their video. The rims alone probably cost a quarter of that. Also, Eve is lookin pretty damn hot these days. The car is at the 1:55 mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ1Y0U8hNYo

Shocker: The Jeep Compass' Stumbling Start As Chrysler dealers offer discounts on 2006 and existing 2007 models, they compete with the Compass, launched in July. The discounting may have slowed the Compass launch a little, although Chrysler says it is pleased so far. Early signs are that the Compass is off to a slower start than the Dodge Caliber. The average transaction price has dropped from $22,467 when the Compass was launched to $21,534 as of Sept. 24, according to the Power Information Network. In contrast, transaction prices for the Caliber have risen from $17,059 at launch in March to $18,276 as of Sept. 24. Read "Slow Start" @ Autoweek

Today I was busy running errands, and the last on my list was to stop at the parts store for a tail light bulb for the Intrepid. NAPA closes early apparently (at 5pm). I sit in the parking lot and think what I should do now..and I decide I'll take a ride to Tom Manzi Dodge to ask about the blown lights on my temp gauge and part of my tach. To my disappointment, the parts and service area was also closed (at 5). I was kinda bummed, but I noticed that the showroom was still open. I decided to go in check it out. A salesman greeted me (he had kinda long hair), and asked if he could help me with anything. I told him (part of) why I came, and he said to come back tomorrow and …

Link: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=115348 Date posted: 05-12-2006 AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Ford and General Motors may be shuttering plants, but Chrysler Group is humming along on the strength of the Dodge Caliber and two other upcoming small vehicles, the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Patriot. The automaker announced on Wednesday it would take the somewhat unusual step of adding a third shift to its Belvidere, Illinois, assembly plant, adding approximately 1,000 new jobs starting in July. Dodge sold about 11,000 Calibers in April, and the company expects a similar strong showing for the Compass, which goes on sale this summer, followed by the Patriot …

Spied: Jeep Scrambler Concept/AEV Brute According to Eric Ridenour, the Jeep Gladiator was axed because it required its own unique platform. A production Jeep truck, if approved, would have to be based on an existing body-on-frame architecture, which brings us to the Wrangler pickup prototype we spotted in Detroit, as it was being transported between two off-site facilities for final assembly work. A Wrangler pickup has been rumored for quite some time, with the name Scrambler mentioned. Read "The Jeep Scrambler: Wrangler-based Pickup" @ Allpar

The Chrysler Sebring has been a major league disappointment since its introduction in 2007, but execs at Chrysler headquarters have promised that a new, better midsize sedan is on the way. The photo to the right is not that magical new Chrysler, but is what appears to be a warmed-over version of the Sebring we already have. The most obvious change arrives at the hood, where the Sebring's ungainly washboard ribbing is replaced by a smooth surface. There is significant camouflage covering the front bumper and lower fascia, but due to some un-kept grass, we can't see any details. The Chrysler experts over at Allpar say that the updates will mainly improve aerodynamics and re…

Sorry no pics at this time, but it was cool looking. It had bulged out fenders front and rear. The intercooler for the turbo was in plain site, the front bumper looked to be a little cobbled on to fit around the intercooler. I doubt this concerns too many here, and not really even myself, but something I thought of, and I need to see what others think/feel/believe/know. The first and second generation JA (Clouds) cars featured suspensions that were of a Front high-arm with anti-sway bar, and Rear low-arm multilink with sway bar, or as Chrysler also calls it, "Modified Double-Wishbone Suspension". Not only unique in the midsize segment which features mostly a MacPherson strut/Multilink setup, I've read that this sort of suspension also costs a little more to produce. However, with the next generation of the Clouds nearly upon us, I have to wonder. This platform was codeveloped with Mit…

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090608/ap_on_..._court_chrysler WASHINGTON – Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Monday delayed Chrysler's sale of most of its assets to a group led by Italy's Fiat, but didn't say how long the deal will remain on hold. TCC Test: 2007 Chrysler Sebring Touring Chrysler hopes the Sebring will build on the momentum of the Chrysler 300 and the Caliber, though the former is beginning to slump in its golden years. The mid-size segment home to the Sebring is a huge one-it's good for 2 million units a year, representing 28 per cent of the passenger car market-and Chrysler has a small to nonexistent image in the segment. All this explains the Sebring's grabber styling and long list of options, but does it mean that Chrysler's now reached the same lofty plateau of its Japanese competitors? 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 Another spin on the definition of SRT-ness. by John Pearley Huffman (2005-12-02) If you're the type of person who looks at the day's news and forecasts nothing but doom, gloom and societal collapse for the future, the Dodge Charger SRT8 simply isn't the car for you. 2007 Dodge Caliber Trading perk for class. by Marty Padgett (2006-02-13) The Caliber five-door hatchback succeeds the four-door and two-door Neons in the Dodge lineup. But just so we're clear on this upfront, it's no Neon replacement. With its tougher, vaguely militaristic connotations right up front in the title, the Caliber drops the perky Neon overtones for a classier, more substantial, and far more upscale feel. The problem is, it's also more expensive than the Neon, in an age where sub-Neon cars are winning converts. Sans Neon rebates, you pay the price for the cargo-loving body style, for the standard curtain airbags and superior back-seat room. Dodge cro…

Yesterday, I had to do an administrative errand that involved some important paperwork and traveling between Northern California and Northern Nevada. So, I went on-line and rented an ECONOMY car from one of the majors. Upon arriving at the lot, there were no $ 18.99 economy cars, so I knew an upgrade was in order for the same price. According to Chrysler's own, in-house press release site and Auto Trim (http://auto-trim.org/2013/11/22/2014-chrysler-300s-a-factory-black-out-theme/) the 2014 Chrysler 300S is slotted to come with an optional, blacked out exterior. Highlights include a gloss black roof, gloss black belt line and blackened head and tail light beels for a so-called toughened look. The first '69 Dodge Charger to portray The Dukes of Hazzard's "General Lee" returns to its flight line By John Pearley Huffman Date posted: 02-06-2007 By now, The Dukes of Hazzard and the orange '69 Dodge Charger called the General Lee are as much a part of American culture as hamburgers and pickup trucks. And everyone knows the theme song. But Indianapolis disc jockey Travis Bell has taken enthusiasm for The Dukes well beyond mere fandom. This guy has crossed into the realm of obsession. Already a co-founder of the North American General Lee Fan Club and the owner of a General Lee replica, Travis solidified his status as king of the Dukes fans in 2003 when he took …

Posted Aug 22nd 2008 9:28AM by Jeremy Korzeniewski Filed under: Minivans/MPVs, Humor What would happen if an old Plymouth Horizon mated with a Plymouth Voyager? See above. Despite the fact that Chrysler used to offer its minivans with two different wheelbases, this is a vehicle that was fortunately never released out of the factory doors. Our guess is that the owner, like us, never really cared for those old non-powered sliding doors anyway. Why not just get rid of 'em completely? Our favorite view of the bus shows that there's nearly as much front-overhang as there is metal between the axles. In all seriousness, the work that went into cutting this sucker in third…

Just for speculation and entertainment purposes, what would you like to see from Chrysler in the years to come? AWD available with the high-pressure turbo engine in an SRT-4 model for both bodystyles. Small diesel engine available. Hybrid model available. 6 speed manual and 6 speed conventional automatic transmissions. TSX/WRX competitor with American flavor. Compact hatch/wagon. Sa…

Tomahawk Not Getting the Axe Far from it. In fact, DCX announced that they are going to put this into production (albeit limited). The pricetag will be in the quarter-million dollar range. So to help buyers to swallow the premium price, the Tomahawk will sold under the Chrysler premium brand. Read "Viper-powered Tomahawk to be offered for sale" @ Edmunds Straightline

http://www.topgear.com/content/timetoburn/...connection.html The video ends a bit early... here's the script of the show part that follows it: Clarkson: It's not the line dancing that's the problem. And nor is it the fact that if you buy an American car, you're going to have to commit acts of love with your cousin. Hammond: So what's the problem? Clarkson: Charger. Wrong Dodge. You need a Challenger, because the Challenger was the star of Vanishing Point, and this was the star of Bullitt. That's why you're interested in it, because it was in Bullitt. Hammond: Yes, so what you're saying is we choose our cars according to the …

UAW goes on strike at Chrysler Bill Vlasic | Link to Original Article @ The Detroit News DETROIT -- The United Auto Workers launched a strike against Chrysler LLC this morning after all-night negotiations failed to produce a tentative agreement on a new labor contract. UAW members took to the picket lines at Chrysler plants in the second walkout against one of Detroit's Big Three during this year's contract talks. Bargainers for Chrysler and the UAW worked through the night in a marathon session at the company's headquarters in Auburn Hills, but were unable to agree on critical issues of job security and health-care funding. There was no immediate comment from Chrys…

Auto company demanding that its two assembly plants become the most efficient in their classes in North America DaimlerChrysler Canada Inc. is demanding that its two assembly plants become the most efficient in their classes in North America, which would force the auto maker to slash a significant number of jobs in Windsor and Brampton, Ont., union sources say. If the company sticks to its plan to close a Toronto parts plant and outsource jobs at the other two plants, there will be a strike, Canadian Auto Workers union president Buzz Hargrove said yesterday. "Absolutely, no doubt about it," Mr. Hargrove said. The closing of the casting plant in Tor…

Chrysler, UAW talks heat up Negotiations over labor contract progress as United Auto Workers union gives notice of potential strike. October 8 2007: 3:51 AM EDT DETROIT (AP) -- The United Auto Workers put Chrysler LLC on notice that a strike is possible if contract talks stall, a person briefed on the talks said, but a labor expert said the union's action could be a bargaining tactic. The union on Sunday gave Chrysler a 72-hour notice of a potential strike, the person said, but it was unclear exactly whether the notice would end on Tuesday or Wednesday. Bargainers working in committees made progress during the weekend but still have much work to do on difficult…

Giant German carmaker Volkswagen and Detroit auto group Chrysler are joining forces to build a new minivan in the U.S., industry sources said Monday, as VW battles to arrest slumping sales in the intensely competitive American market. A contract between VW and Chrysler, which is the U.S. offshoot of transatlantic carmaker DaimlerChrysler AG is due to be formally signed at next week's Detroit motor show. A VW spokesman declined to comment. Under the deal, Chrysler is to build for VW a mini-van using Chrysler's Voyager as the basis. The new car is to hit the U.S. market in 2008. At present, VW, which is Europe's biggest carmaker, does not offer …

Verdict on Challenger to be Decided by Fall The Chrysler group may decide whether to make the Challenger muscle car as early as the end of the third quarter, CEO Tom LaSorda says. LaSorda on Friday said Chrysler has been flooded with positive responses to the Challenger concept, shown at the Detroit auto show in January. If Dodge has any sense, they'll build it. Unless of course, they want the new Camaro to go unchallenged (no pun intended). Read "Chrysler to decide whether to build Challenger by fall" @ Autoweek

Now the above cars might be on top of anyones list of 10 best cars, but they did bring profits to Chrysler and thanks to profits we got: Thoughts?

There is speculation in the greater Toronto media, starting yesterday, that Mississauga, Ontario based parts supplier Magna is looking at buying Chrysler. The reaction in the lunch room here was largely that people would consider Chrysler again, if it were Canadian, and especially if it were based in the GTA (greater Toronto). What would your reaction be to a Canadian owned Chrysler? How would the UAW respond?

Seriously I don't get it. Dodge gets the Caliber on a pretty much all new chassis (I know it is shared w/ Mitus but they don't really count since they sell so few cars in the US). Jeep gets 2 versions of this chassis and yet the once highly successful and well selling PT/GT Cruisers are left rotting on the old Neon chassis. What gives? Is Chrysler getting advice from Ford?

Why is Chrysler giving overtime when overstocked? Workers expect longer-than-usual winter shutdowns at Chrysler Group plants that make such oversupplied vehicles as the Dodge Ram pickup and Jeep Commander SUV, following several weeks of overtime. By the end of this week, hourly workers who build the Commander and Jeep Grand Cherokee at Jefferson North in Detroit will have worked the equivalent of an extra week and a half -- at overtime pay rates -- since their last shutdown this fall, according to company production schedules. And workers at St. Louis North, who build the Dodge Ram, will have worked almost two weeks' worth of overtime in the 10 weeks since their last…

Rethinking the Car Company Private-equity firm Cerberus is expected to transform Chrysler into an automobile manufacturer like no other. What the future may hold. May 17, 2007 - Henry Ford created the defining engine of the American auto industry with his mighty River Rogue factory in the 1920s. Huge freighters loaded with iron ore and rubber docked at one end of mile-long warren of foundries and factories, while on the other end shiny black Model A automobiles rolled off the assembly line every 49 seconds. At the dawn of the Internet age, Michael Dell created a new model for manufacturing. At his factories, the guts of his computers—circuit boards, frames, memory chips…

So i was browsing ebay and came across some nice Charger R/T wheels for reasonable prices (and a lot less than the V10's)...but will they fit? I don't know much about wheels sizes, widths, if RWD VS FWD configuration matters and whatnot..all of our cars have stock wheels and/or hubcaps...any help? Also..this may sound stupid and pardon my ignorance but does the bolt pattern need to match perfectly? (5 x 115mm (Charger) verses 5 x 4 1/2" (Intrepid), etc.)?

Will Chrysler Restructure as Well? DaimlerChrysler Chairman Dieter Zetsche said Tuesday that the automaker will cut output by 90,000 vehicles in the third quarter -- up from previous estimates of about 75,000 -- and another 45,000 in the fourth quarter to bring dealer inventories more in line with consumer demand and make room in showrooms for new models that will roll out later this year. Zetsche also said the Auburn Hills-based automaker may have to take more drastic cost-cutting measures in the wake of last week's announcement that Chrysler will lose $1.5 billion in the third quarter, more than double its July estimate of $600 million in red ink, and report a loss …
