gonna pick up the new (and i do mean new) car either late tonight or Friday noon. they gotta bring it back from IOWAY. I love my Aztek, gonna miss it, but it was time. 113,600 or so. Decided not to expend a few thousand on all the things it needed or should have in the next 12 months to ensure it would be worth keeping another 2-3 years. Well I went ahead and did it. I got myself back into a truck. It's a 1LT 4X4, 3.7L 5 cylinder with 3.73 G80, power/convenience package, fullsize spare and trailering package, Deep Navy with Ebony 60/40 seat. Traded the Cobalt in today. Decided not to wait for a factory order.

Roger, Thinking about picking up a used Envoy - only if it can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the back with the tailgate closed or even sticking out through the glass hatch. Hey everybody, as many of you know I haven't been online in quite a long time as life sometimes takes its toll. I have now gotten rid of my T-Type, car was rotted so I kept all specific T-Type parts. Now last October, the Intake Manifold gasket went on my 88 Reatta and the car spun a main bearing. Perfect opportunity for my Supercharged swap. The donor motor is from a 95 Bonneville SSEi and the motor had 143k kms on it, I stripped it down to freshen the motor up either way but the lower mileage was a bonus. Leaving work yesterday, the check engine light in my Jeep came on (only the 2nd time in 112k miles). Got home, pulled the code, and it's an OBDII P0306 code, misfire in cylinder 6. Interesting, because I had the plugs replaced last Saturday. Since about Wednesday, I'd noticed a bit of driveline roughness when moving and when sitting at a light in gear. My dad felt it was not right to spend the extra money for a 77 Cutlass Supreme coupe...so i had to settle for a Century coupe...not even a Regal! Dug up an old pic. RWD! real car! It's a project nonetheless. It's a late 70s/early 80s Schwinn Traveler that I saved from being trashed as a single speed/fixed gear bike. At the time, the Traveler was Schwinn's middle-of-the-road bike. I'll try as best I can to bring it back to what it looked like when it was first built. The frame and the finish looks to be in great shape - worth the $30 in my opinion since older Schwinns in any condition are increasing in value. Yesterday afternoon I placed a deposit on this fine piece of "British craftsmanship". It's an auto, but as it was only CAD$5200, and has only got 115,000 km on it, I wasn't going to pass it up just because it had a slushy transmission. For a 20 year old it's in damn fine condition (a plate on the console says it was a concours event entrant in 2002), but it currently needs a bit of a tidy up and a good polish. It's hard to tell under the road grime, but it appears to be a charcoal gray metallic, and the interior is gray leather. I had a chance to snap a few pics of the Cutty today after returning from Pigeon Forge. I didn't take any pics of the back because the bumper that I still haven't replaced sort of ruins it all (the chrome is peeling off). OPGI has a holiday special on '71-'72 Cutlass rear bumpers so I'm going to order one soon. So it's been a while since I checked in... here's a pic. Cleaned up the Malibu and Cobalt this week so they're ready for the impending snowstorm that's no doubt coming soon. Luckily I didn't need to put the effort in on the Impala. I spotted a rust spot on it behind the chrome trim on the trunk-lid and after the body shop fixed this under warranty they did a whole interior/exterior detailing job complete with wax, tire shine and a steam bath for the engine (score). The chip and rust spot are invisible now and a great job was done (Pics on that later).

Only a few of you might remember me, but those who do are likely to remember my Regal. Last February she suffered massive electrical failure and a replacement had to be had immediately. After seeing gm4life's Pontiac Torrent get an aftermarket window tint job and how satisfied he was with it, and remembering Walt doing the same thing with one of his cars a while back, I decided to bite the bullet and get the wife's 2008 Pontiac G6 V6 Sedan tinted too. Well, it has finally happened: I'm getting rid of the Cobalt. I can't take the monthly payments anymore while I'm in school, and this seemed like a good alternative... I took a 7 hour round trip over to the west side of Michigan yesterday and picked up a 2004 Dodge Neon R/T. Two weeks ago, I driving along in downtown Hell (Phoenix) on a pleasant, sunny 115 degree day when I hear a loud SNAP, and my seat lurches backward and to the right ('00 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 101k miles). As many of you know I have been busy as of late. Landscaping the house, building a new retaining wall, a new mailbox and stuff like that. Monday the Torrent was suppose to get its windows tinted, until she played a special trick on me. NOT starting, and then the key wouldn't remove. Well it has been a really long time since I have posted anything regarding my Reatta in a long while. Well I was going to drive my Reatta down to Carlisle but my grandmother had to have surgery and I had a Reatta club meeting event in Niagara Falls that Sunday so my weekend was full. Here are the better pictures I promised. I will be adding some more later with interior shots, but both times I have taken the photos it has been too dark to do interiors. For those that haven't seen the other thread, it's a 2001 Lincoln LS V8. 79,500 miles, leather, traction control, memory seating, dual front and side airbags, automatic climate control, folding rear seats, etc. The exterior is Titanium Sliver and the interior is a trio of dark gray, light gray, and walnut burl wood accents (although the only "real" walnut is on the steering wheel and shifter). Finally got a new set of stainless pipes and mufflers last week (along side the two old tailpipes in this pic) Test fitting: The correct chrome tips came on Monday. Replaces the "turkey-gun" ones that were on the old busted pipes. This car was hobbled together before I bought it. Four exhaust hangers three completely different styles. Of course I bought all new hangers that match. The Avanti uses the "X" frame from the Studebaker Lark convertible to give the fiberglass car more rigidity. The added bonus is the X frame in the middle that the exhaust has to slide in and out of twice on each side. It makes this exhaust a difficult one

So I've got the Buick with its rebuilt 307 running beautifully, happy to have it back on the road. Now there is a '93 Caprice wagon with an LT1 on Craigslist for $600. No title, being sold as a parts car. I may go ahead and call the guy, but I'm thinking the LT1 transplant is more work than I want to do at the time.

Well it was D-day for me today as I picked up my newest edition to my fleet, my son and I went to pick it up around 1:00 today and he has been detailing it and waxing it up until now. Well he took it down to the park and shot a few for everyone on C&G, aside of being louder than the 3400 in my 2001 and having tighter steering and firmer ride it is a very similar car. It is sportier though and my son agrees, Monday I have to get new plates for it, I have only put three miles on it. I'd like to take in some suggestions on how to go ELECTRIC, on a project car. Here's what I am dying to know... 1. A basic Idea of HOW. 2. What to make my Electric car out of, I have seen Saturns converted.. What would you do? So far I am thinking that I should buy a ready-made conversion kit, and build it into a 2-dr cavalier. The car can be dressed up pretty well, and if it is an EcoTec powered car, I should be able to get some of the funds to do the swap from selling the powertrain. I was in Alaska the past weekend checking on some things and bought a car because I'm tired of renting plus i will have it available once i commit to live there. Figured I'd post the replacement for my brother's wrecked Ranger. It's a Nissan, as you can see. I think it's a 1993. It has about 130k miles on the odometer and it's a stick. I'm not sure if it's a V6 or a 4cyl as I haven't asked nor looked to see for myself. I think he got it for $1k or so. It's a little rusty, but seems more solid than his Ranger was, which is certainly good. It supposedly runs pretty well.

Our 03 Century was approaching the 200K mile mark and we were planning on replacing it during the summer of 09. However, with the deals available right now and it needing a coolant flush we decided to go for it and replace the Buick early. I picked up brochures on the LaCrosse, Impala and Malibu. A local junkyard has a wrecked 1988 Cadillac Brougham with a supposedly good 307 for $375. The engine in my LeSabre runs fantastically for what it is. It burns/leaks oil and has a rod knock, but it keeps going and going and going. Someday, its going to quit going, I've accepted that. But if I can grab essentially the same engine, tear it down, make sure everything is copacetic, and reassemble it, how difficult would it be to yank the old motor and drop the "new" one? I'm most worried about transmission (THM200-4R, shouldn't be a problem) and emissions devices. We dont have smog testing in this part of the state, so would bypassing all that crap be an option? My biological father recently moved back to Houston, and promptly totalled a nice 2005 Corolla. In looking for a replacement vehicle, the criteria for the new car was simple: Must be new, automatic, ABS, no more than $16,500, and must be a 4 door sedan - no hatchbacks. His experience with GM and Chrysler products...in the the 1980s and 1990s..meant that those cars were NOT allowed on the shopping list. So my plans for today were pretty much canceled, and since it was actually pretty nice out (50 degrees) I took the opportunity to give the cars a good interior cleaning, and my car a much needed washing. Enjoy! Up first is the GM. The steering wheel and driver's door have been really dirty since the day we bought the car. Finally, I spent the time cleaning the surfaces of the interior. Makes a huge difference I think.

I posted pics a very long time ago (2005ish), but I think a couple C&G crashes sent that thread into the abyss. So here are some more recent pics of the Lumina. It has some rust, hail damage, and the paint is starting to fade, but she still runs pretty well. It has about 142,000 miles on it now, which means I have put 62,000 miles on it since I bought it for $800 4 1/2 years ago. It's probably going to be with me for another six months, and then I'm looking to replace it with a used, RWD two-door of some type. With the way the economy is now, I've put off plans for a new car purchase until 2010. Anyway, these pics span from over the last year or so.

What started out as a simple "replace the oil pan gasket" became a two year project. Not that we worked on the car for two years, just that it took that long. See, to drop the oil pan on this Stude, you really need to either pull the engine or take the whole damn undercarriage apart. Guess which one we did? Since the starter was in the way, I went to remove the starter. But the exhaust is in the way. Since the exhaust was in really bad shape and there was no way to get it apart normally, I used a sawsall. Exhaust out of the way. Back to the starter. The grommet on the starter wire broke apart when removing, causing the need to have someone take apart the star…

For a long time now I've wanted to do an interior swap of my car's with that of a 300M's ever since I sat in one and felt just how supple and more comfortable the leather was in it verses the cloth or even leather seats of Intrepids. A couple weeks ago I obtained teh first piece of that goal...a 300M leather armrest. Next I'd like to acquire the backseat since they are harder to come by than the front seats. Plus they are cheaper.

I've had this thing since I was like 3, dont know where it came from, my parents might remember, I haven't asked. But I've decided that I need to restore it. Hey C&Gers, I signed (most of) the papers on the Bonneville I'd been looking at since February (!). I take delivery of it tomorrow sometime (though, unfortunately, not in time for me to drive it to DC for class ). I was going through an old Photo Album when I found these pictures... the first is circa February 1997 the day my Cavalier was picked up from Jack Carter Chev Olds Cadillac as a new car... Hard to believe that thing was ever "new". The last two are circa Summer 1997 and are of the Dustbuster minivan we had from 1994-1999 (My brother and I are of course in this one as well).
