I suspected with the numbers of them on the road I see that do not have Enterprise stickers on them. I took a trip to Cleveland yesterday nad saw nearly 25 of them round trip on the road. I did not count parking lots or dealers. I know winning June is not going to win the war but you need to win battles to win the war. The story here is a little biased. I know they like to blame the earth quake but I suspect it is more than lack of supply too. This car is what the average driver wants in a car. It may not be the first choice …

I am interested to know if the Volt design had been the Cruze, would you consider it more interesting, or functional, or desirable than the Cruze? I am not at all bringing the hybrid into the question. If the Cruze had arrived with the Volt's styling (with obviously more interior space returned because of no battery) would the Cruze seemed more attractive? I have to admit. On styling alone and with the hatchback, the Volt as a Cruze would have actually been the game changing small car for Chevy that is still the jury that will be out on the Cruze. The goal is to achieve superior fuel economy to the standard LT / LTZ models, while offering improved performance and retaining the automatic transmission (a quintessential feature to most US consumers). From a performance stand point, this is no Cobalt SS. Rather, it is in the same class as an Acura TSX. The XFS -- standing for Xtra Fuel-economy Sport -- is positioned above the LTZ and comes with all the LTZ's amenities at a $1000 premium over the LTZ. The XFS uses the Cruze ECO as a starting point. Dan Neil of the L.A. Times drives the Chevy Aveo and gives it a surprisingly positive review. An excerpt: That said, there's something quite agreeable about the Aveo. It's comfortable, solidly constructed, and surprisingly eager to please. The little dual-cam motor will happily pull its guts out to get up to speed. The ride quality is reasonably composed for a short-wheelbase (97.6 inches) commuter car, and the interior noise levels more than respectable. The exterior paint quality and panel gap consistency are excellent. And, let me just say, hand-cranked windows? What a clever idea. The biggest surprise in the Aveo is the interior's quality. Supply and Demand would suggest a dealers market. I would like to know if anyone on this board has bought or discussed pricing on the new Silverados/Sierras? Are the dealerships willing to negotiate or discount the price of the new trucks? If so, how much are they coming down? Thanks, Jim Houston, TX.

Accord also rates highly to many, though the Camry is picked as the laggard of the group, except when a Camry owner actually tests his own car against the competition. I smell some buyer's remorse. The interior is even the gray color scheme! This is a great example of what discerning Americans getting a chance to see the competition side by side pick the Chevy above the competition!

The risk of blurting out all manner of multisyllabic drivel is very real, and the last thing I want is an involuntary impression of Britain's Top Gear host marring my otherwise enjoyable ride. Yes, the LR3 drives magnificently and has gobs of space into which you can throw everything you could ever want to take along with you. But there is one little problem: It gets only an average of 15 miles per gallon and requires premium gasoline. The Cobalt, on the other hand, averaged 31.4 miles per gallon of regular fuel for the 672-mile trip. Before we go into greater detail, we should a…

Not the best or most thorough comparison, but still makes a lot of good points, with the Ford prevailing in the end: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...photopanel..1.* I'll say it again, too. We have an '04 Suburban, and my mother is a GM SUV lover, but I've now seen and played with several '07 GMT-900's and a couple '07 Expeditions, and I'd choose the Expedition hands down. Much better sorted packaging, more realistic and not inflated pricing (still a bit of an issue with the GM's), more sophisticated and refined under the skin (with the Ford MUCH improved even over the previous model), and just a very well done package throughout. Still love a lot about t…

  62. Click Here Honestly their nitpicks are a little annoying such as the Vortec Max naming but overall, they liked the truck. I think the most impressive thing I read besides the hp and torque #'s which we all knew already was that it recorded an interior sound level of 65.2 decibles, more quiet than an Audi A6. Nice job there. The longer braking distance is slightly disappointing but we'll have to wait for other publisher's braking tests to see if the results are consistent. The looks are slowly growing on me more every time I see it, and I hope it does well in Edmunds' long-term fleet.

Just a thought... GM doesn't have any alternate fuel compact in North America at the moment. Maybe there should be more engines for the Cobalt, just not running gasoline. Diesel: The 1.9L CDTI ECOTEC is readily available in Europe in the Astra. I'm sure with some modifications it'll work in NA in a Cobalt. I think it'll go nicely against the Jetta TDI. E85: The Solstice GXP Drifter uses an E85 2.0L ECOTEC, so I think that means an E85 version of the 2.2L/2.4L engine is possible. Bi-fuel Natural Gas: The Cavalier used to have it with the 2.2L LN2 and ECOTEC. It wasn't carried over to the Cobalt though. Hybrid: Maybe it's coming with the BAS system after the Aura …

I was in a Ford dealer this weekend. The salesman was talking up their new engines for 2011, saying he got to test drive a ecoboost V6 and of course it was the best thing ever! Any news on GM's Gen V V8's? Are they going to be introduced prior to the 2013 redesign or will GM have upgraded engines out sooner to compete with Ford's new offerings? I'm planning on upgrading my Sierra sometime but haven't been impressed enough with anything to warrant the cost.

As the 2007 VUE Green Line sets to make its appearance as GM's first true hybrid offering work is being done on the hybrid Equinox. Naturally one would assume that since they are on the same platform, architecture, etc that they would share the same hybrid drivetrain. From what I've been hearing, the Equinox will feature a different hybrid system than the Vue. The Vue uses the "two-mode" hybrid system that at stop lights the batteries take over while the engine is shut down. Could a "true" hyrid be in store for the Equinox complete with batteries and greater fuel efficency? Only time will tell.

Ironically to my prior conviction, in considering a replacement for my wife's '03 GP, I am.... shopping with a tape measure. We have a tight-ish 90-degree turn into the 1-car-wide garage door opening, and with the GP at least- it is on the tight side. GP width is 72" and the mirrors do not fold. We would consider either another mid-size sedan or a crossover/small SUV. Space, economy & reliability are primary concerns. I don't pay enormous attention to modern vehicle specs- I had thought the Vue & Equinox were on the same platform- I see now that they're not. Vue is quite petite; must be Equinox & Torrent are siblings, right? GP is: wheelbase: 110", ove…
