So....CTS went in for some minor warranty work....and I snagged a brand-spanking-new Enclave CXL as a loaner!!!!! It's so refreshing and exciting to get into a brand-new GM product and have such a strong "feel-good" reaction because the product is not only good-looking, but makes you feel so good to sit in and drive. Essentially, no changes, as we already know. The standard content has gone up to include the leather wheel, the tilt and telescope and a few other items. The optional package is $ 495, which includes (1) the folding rear seat, (2) the power lumbar, and (3) heated seats. I guess that's not SO bad, since the split rear seat cost $ 275 last M.Y. Comment on styling: the new front end is better but not THAT great. IMO, it is TOO tall for the front fascia and the chrome bars are too pronounced. On July 31st my salesman sent me an e-mail and said the car I ordered (LaCrosse Super) was built last week at the #2 Oshawa assembly plant and should arrive any day. Well it still hasn't. He gave me a copy of the build order. I'm wondering if there was any way I could check online to see if the car has left the plant yet and is in transit. I hope this is a change that will take place across the model lines! Get rid of the alphanumeric designations for Pontiac and Cadillac. I don't think the name changes have helped GM. I just got done with a rental Lucerne. Here is what I had and what I noted. The car was brand new and only had 3,000 miles. Though a base model it was nicely optioned and if stickered at $26K or 27K would have been a good car for an older driver. Road manners while not sporting was very managable and comfortable. It handeled Southern Californias caynon roads and highways just fine. I even noted with the 80-90 MPH speeds on the high way it still managed 24 MPG. The one major complaint I would have is the 3800 Series III should have never been used in this car. The rest of the car is just more refined even in base form for a engine of this nature. I am currently looking for a used (2002-2004) Park Avenue. My initial thought was only the Ultra would do...but I've found some great deals on the regular Park Ave, which has left me thinking that maybe I don't really "need" the Ultra. I am unaware of any inherent problems with the supercharged motors, but I thought I might ask everyone for some input.... Happy birthday to my Regal! It turns 15 today. I bought it as my first brand new car while I was in grad school (though it was garaged at my parents' house 2,000 miles away) and the powertrain is original. It was factory-ordered. When I parked it last night, the odometer read 235,000.1. So, I'm less than 15,000 miles away from the quarter million mark I'm shooting for. Should I keep striving for it? I purchased a 2007 Buick Lucerne with 17500 miles a couple of months ago. It is a CXL with the 3.8 engine. The car has developed an annoying hesitation when driving at 40-50 mph. The car hesitates/pings/groans unless you give it a bit more gas to turn off the overdrive. The problem is most noticable when using 87 octane gas but it still present when running 93 octane. I've run Techron through the system thinking perhaps the injectors were dirty but that didn't help. The check engine light is not on. I read in a 2007 Lucerne promo of the "NEW DOUBLE ISOLATED” powertrain mounting system. Does anyone know whether this is different/better than they used in 2006? My own experience with my 2006 CX is that the engine noise isolation is not as good as it could be, and not as good as it was in my previous 1999 LeSabre. Otherwise, it's a nice, quiet car, especially after the source of an annoying vibration under acceleration was found & corrected by the dealer. If better mounts are now available, I'd be interested in retrofitting them to my 2006, if that's possible.

At first we thought it had to be a mistake. General Motors is already paying customers to take the 2008 Buick Enclave off their hands? How is everyone feeling about their local BPG dealership? Mine is in Hickory, North Carolina. The old stand-alone BPG was sold to the local Chevrolet dealership and man, has it gone down hill, especially on customer service. I've been working with one of their sales reps, the "Corvette Specialist," and he runs hot and cold. No real personal attention, no feeling of being somewhere special like the old Buick dealerships. I recently bought a Lucerne CX, believing quality/luxury equate to QUIET, and buying into the QUIET-TUNING hype – although it’s indeed quiet on the highway, I am disappointed that it is not nearly as quiet in stop/go city driving as my previous 1999 LeSabre Ltd – the CX has poor engine noise isolation & annoying drive train shudder/growl under startup acceleration conditions - dealer improved situation by replacing one engine mount (defective design) & realigning engine to mounts, but engine noise isolation still not acceptable - wind/road noise isolation good, but 2 out of 3 not good enough. I know there are people who bash GM for selling any of it's vehicles to rental car companies, as if that is the only way they could sell their vehicles, but I think it's a good marketing tool in the sense that you can really find out about a car when you take it on a 5 day test drive. My wife and I rented a V8 Lucerne a couple of weeks ago and we both fell in love with it. Even my wife had sort of bought into the perception gap thing that Buicks were for "old people". I don't know about you, but it seems that Buick did somewhat crush their own business by nixing the Century, LeSabre, Regal, and Park Avenue. They really should bring them back...maybe with a more sleek looking exterior? I have a 1997 Century and I love my boat!

I stumbled across the website earlier today. I found it encouraging that the Enclave was on display at the autoshow. Has changing the name from Lesabre to Lucerne improved sales? And Lucerne also replaces Park Avenue. Ditto to Lacrosse replacing Century and Regal. Could we say that familiar nameplates require less money marketing the product? How about following the Taurus and change back to old beloved nameplates? Lacrosse replacement becomes Century. Lucerne (goofy French sounding name) becomes LeSabre.

The CARS.com site has been updated with all the Enclave options and color combos. On the right side under new cars, select ANY BUICK model (Enclave is not in the drop down). Then select the link for change YEAR. Select 2008 and then you'll see the Enclave link. I wonder how some decisions are made. The Outlook is available in dark grey but not metallic white (8 colors in total), the Acadia has both dark grey and metallic white (9 colors), the Enclave is available in metallic white but not dark grey (8 colors) . . .

The Pontiac Grand Prix and Buick Regal/LaCrosse have shared the same platform for 20 years. With the SWB Zeta G8 replacing the GP. The LaCrosse will likely be replaced by a SWB Zeta as well. Naturally the LWB Zeta would replace the Lucerne. The best part is that both Zetas could be here in 18 months. I can't wait! If anybody has proof that my speculation is correct. PLEASE! Post it!

I was wondering if the 0% financing is a cyclical thing, where it happens at the same time(s) of year every year? I think I recall seeing lots of commercials for this around the 4th of July and Labor Day last year. I also just got a notice in the mail that I can get another $750 bonus earnings to be used alongside my GM extended family card earnings. By the sounds of the brochure they sent, I can use all of this in addition to special financing rates. But the offer ends on Feb 28th. Currently Buick is only offering 4.9% or cash back. Will the new Enclave be both FWD and AWD? Either way I am hooked, the Lucerne and Enclave have me thinking Buick, and to pull me away for Pontiac, Chevy and Cadillac takes a hell of a product! Anyone know if they will be sold both FWD and AWD, or just AWD?
