Traveling to the mountains this weekend and riding in my dad and my brother's Silverados on the gravel roads and across streams has really driven home a realization for me: I really miss having a pickup truck. Car-like comfort, mixed with go-anywhere capability and extreme versatility really appeals to me, now as always. So I'm going to say here and now I am going to work toward factory-ordering a 2010 Colorado or Canyon as soon as I feel comfortable. Here's what I want: Z85 1LT extended cab 4X4 (GMC is SLE-1) 3.7L 5 cylinder/automatic/3.73 G80 locking rear end. (I checked EPA estimates for the 5.3L in this configuration, it gets horrible mileage, 14/19! 5 cyl …

Finding the Ultimate Modern Muscle Car In 2002, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second human being to set foot on the moon, punched a guy in the face for accusing him of faking the moon landing. Buzz was 72 years old at the time. Go right ahead and question the existence of the 2010 Ford Mustang GT, 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T and 2010 Chevy Camaro SS and they, too, might just give you a knuckle sandwich in the kisser. Like Mr. Aldrin, they bear names from long ago that have made a collective return to the limelight. Like Mr. Aldrin, they are American heroes with unparalleled legacies reaching across decades. And like Mr. Aldrin, they have Ph.Ds in kicking ass. Their maker…

The highly anticipated 2010 Chevy Camaro is now only a few months from hitting the showroom floor, and we're just getting the final scoop on standard and optional content that will be available for all five Camaro variants. Customers wanting to order a Camaro can choose from LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1SS and 2SS models, and standard and optional equipment varies greatly between each package. The base model LS comes equipped with OnStar, 18-inch rims, and a 300-hp V6 engine, and the only optional item is floor mats. The 1LT package includes optional 19-inch rims, a Boston Acoustics sound system and a sunroof. The 2LT gets standard 19s, the sound system, leather seats, ambient lighting…

So I have a friend who decided she wanted to buy a small SUV. After much convincing, I finally got her to *consider* test driving the Chevy Equinox...all her neighbors had convinced her she should buy either a Toyota RAV4 or a Subaru Forester. I check a few local Chevy dealers that have some Equinox's in stock and we set out to test drive. Dealer has 2 AWD Equinox LTZs in stock, V-6, full loaded, $37K. Both have *way* too much crap on them, but serve the purpose to sell the Equinox and provide a test drive. She likes it, but wants the gas mileage of the 4 cylinder...so we move on to test drive the CR-V, RAV4, Forester, etc. One weekend down. When all is said and don…

Chevrolet has just announced pricing on its new-for-2010 Equinox crossover, and it will carry an MSRP of $23,185 (including $745 destination), a handy $1,800 less than the outgoing model. That $23k and change will net you the base front-wheel drive LS model with the 2.4-liter, direct-injection Ecotec four-cylinder. The 182 horsepower engine is pegged to deliver 30 miles-per-gallon on the highway (the same figure quoted for its GMC Terrain sibling) and a further 21 mpg in the city, while the pricier 3.0-liter direct-injected V6 will yield 264 horsepower in exchange for more fuel (18 city/25 highway). All wheel drive is available, although full model and option pricing ha…

Here was Chris Pauwels take on the future Impala RWD. He was close on the Camaro Concept with his drawing of it before it was shown to the public. If his info holds true this might bear watching. NOTE: DRAWINGS REMOVED AT REQUEST OF "TheGMSource" web site. I found them on Autoblog.com so if you look around they are out there. So in place we will enjoy a nice detailed drawing from tosil's post from below that gives you some idea of what the drawings sort of looked like. Now back to our regular program. Note from what I have read and been told 2-3 different versions have been made and all incorperate styling cues from the 1967 Impala. One version is full retro and on…

Chances of a Mid-Engined C7 Corvette? Link to Original Article @ Winding Road This issue of Winding Road showcases a discussion with some analysts and experts about the direction the next Corvette is going to take and while its all but certain that the C7 will be a front-engine rear-wheel drive car as it has been for over a half century, the possibility is entertained that a mid-engined 'Vette could be sold alongside a tradtional one. Click here for the article in its entirety. Quick notes: Final designs have been submitted to Ed Wellburn from design teams this June. C7 (GMX711) will debut in 2011, coinciding with Chevrolet's centennial. One possibility is for a mid-…

I say buy a Cruze for 20,000. Spend the 20,000 on gasoline! A Volt costs 40,000! I could buy a lot of gasoline for 20K extra. That is why I could never buy a Volt. Tue much munny!! The Volt is cool and innovative. But 40 K would buy a nicer vehicle like a CTS or Enclave.

2012 Chevrolet Corvette Lineup See Their Prices Go Up William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com June 14, 2011 If you have your heart set on new 2012 Chevrolet Corvette, you might want to make sure you have enough money. Corvette Blogger recently went through GM's RPO for the 2012 Corvette and found out prices are going up. The MSRP for most Corvette models goes up anywhere from $480-$1,150. Only one model, the Corvette ZR1 sees a drop in it's MSRP. Yes, its only $75, but hey its still a drop. In addition, prices for the Equipment Group packages are on the up. The 2LT coupe will rise $1,195 to $2,095 while the 3LT coupe jumps from $4,205 to $5,9…

Police Fleets Gain 3 MPG with 2012 Chevrolet Impala New powertrain improves fuel economy and adds horsepower 3.6L V-6 engine produces 302 hp – 70 more than in 2011 Impala Police gets GM-estimated 27 mpg highway DETROIT – Law enforcement officers are just as affected by higher gas prices as the citizens they are sworn to protect and serve. The 2012 Chevrolet Impala Police helps address this by adding more MPG and a more powerful engine. A new 3.6L V-6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission achieves 302 hp and an estimated fuel economy of 17 mpg city and 27 mpg highway – a 3 mpg advantage over previous Im…

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere yet, but I see in the GM parts catalog (I work at a dealership) that the 2012 Impala will be sporting a 3.6 V6 and matching 6 speed transmission. Several other parts are new to go with this, but nothing earth shattering. No changes in appearance that I can tell other than a new choice in 16 inch aluminum wheels.

2012 Chevrolet Impala Changes hit the Dealerships Drew Dowdell - Chief Editor - CheersandGears.com May 3, 2011 By now most of you have heard that Chevy is doing a final update to the aging full sized Impala. Well those changes had finally hit the dealerships parts books. We knew about the 3.5 and 3.9 liter V6es being replaced with the High Feature 3.6 producing 302 horsepower while maintaining the Impala's FlexFuel designation and the 4-speed auto shifting to GM's 6-speed unit. But lets get the low down on the other changes. While we had hoped that a new Impala would be waiting on the lots for us in 2012 (2010?) These updates aren't a bad thing for a proven platform…

2013 Chevrolet Colorado Spied! August 27, 2011 Cory Wolfe - CheersandGears.com Over in Thailand, a Colorado enthusiast discovered a completely undisguised 2013 Chevrolet Colorado sitting in a parking lot. What you see is spec'd for various Asian markets, but is the first look at a production ready variant of the concept shown earlier this year. For the most part, the design remains in tact, save for a slightly toned down look, as expected. More photos below, original photos by following the link below. Source: BBZnet Forums

The new Malibu has a more athletic look than before. But it has no "Sport" trim package to spice things up, like Ford's Fusion and Toyota's Camry, two formidable rivals. The Kia Optima has a relatively sporty look, too, in higher trims. I'd like to see Chevy add a low-cost Sport trim package to the Malibu. A manual transmission is still offered in certain iterations of the competition, as well, including its main domestic foe... Fusion. If Chevy were to take, say, a 1LT Malibu and offer this package: 2.5L with 6 speed manual (optional automatic, of course). 18 inch unique alloys. Foglamps and low rear spoiler. Sport cloth seats and metallic interior trim... I thi…

2014 Chevrolet Impala -- another Car GM Should Build The Chevy Impala is a Front Engined, Rear Drive, 5-passenger sedan built on a long wheelbase Zeta+ Platform. As the Malibu got more compact and takes on an exclusively 4-cylinder engine lineup, the Impala grows to a size and configuration more appropriate for capturing the full size market. The vehicle features laser welded seams, high strength steel and an aluminum hood culminating in a 150 lbs weight reduction over the Pontiac G8 despite its longer wheelbase. Power comes from the updated 3.6 liter DI V6 fortified with a new block featuring a balance shaft for enhanced refinement and cylinder deactivation for enhanced…

GM Has posted the 2014 Impala ordering guide online, I guess these things must be hitting the road sooner than we thought- maybe January or February. It appears the 2LT and LTZ will be the only vehicles available at launch, with standard V6 power. The LS and 1LT will be 2.5L only and will be coming in Q2 with the Eco coming by year end. http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/NASApp/domestic/proddesc.jsp?year=2013&butID=1®ionID=1&divisionID=3&vehicleID=13882&type=0 You guys can draw your own conclusions but I have to say I'm a little disappointed with the packaging. Autoblog is reporting availability of the 2.5L and 2.8L used in the global trucks about a year after SOP of the new small trucks. Link to that article is HERE. This is very interesting to me as I might be in the market for a smaller truck with towing capability and better MPG than the bigger trucks on the market in the next few years... HERE is a bit more info on these engines available globally. And HERE is a Motor Trend review of the 2012 Colorado. 7716 lb towing capacity on the 2.8L version? I bet the MPG will be no worse than 30-32 highway (hey, if the big Ram can do it, these little trucks better be able to...). Sign me up!

Funny... I see no resemblance between the 2014 Impala face and the 2015 Cruze face... the new Cruze looks much more like the Sonic in the front end, which has me scratching my head... I thought the Impala and Traverse were going to be the "new face of Chevrolet" going forward. I thought the Chevy Trax wasn't coming to the US because it wears Chevrolet's "old" face... yet this new Cruze has the split grille and swept-back headlights with clear round elements, a la Sonic. I thought the new Cruze was supposed to resemble the '14 Impala, I was ready for that, I was excited to hear it... but... Something fishy going on.

The three-box Chevy sedan arrived with the new-for-1949 Chevrolets, which grew proper trunks that were flattened and pulled out from the old bustle-back Fleetlines and Master Deluxes of the streamliner era. How many of us saw Dad off to work in a Biscayne or a Bel Air, or remember the mall lots clogged with Novas and Caprices? The Chevy sedan was everyman’s car, the car you drove if you cared more about value than flash. Malibus were once everywhere, even in Malibu, but the Japanese long ago moved the bull’s-eye for high-value conformity, and Chevrolet has struggled to hit it. Too big, too small, too boring, too unreliable; the mid-size Chevy sedan devolved into a ca…

I don't know what's going on over at Chevy but everything they've released looks worse than what they have out right now. The Malibu and Cruze less so but the Silverado and Camaro look so much worse. What the hell, Chevy?!? I'm almost always in favor of the newest versions of things but these Chevys aren't doing it for me.

2019 CHEVROLET VOLT CHARGES QUICKER, IMPROVES CONVENIENCE 2018-06-28 DETROIT — A new 7.2 kW charging system on the 2019 Chevrolet Volt cuts recharging times nearly in half by adding about twice the all-electric driving range per hour of charge. The new system headlines a number of additional enhancements for the 2019 Volt and increases the vehicle’s all-electric utility for owners who take advantage of “opportunity charging,” or plugging in around town to top off the battery charge. “With about twice the range added during 240V Level 2 charging sessions, the 2019 Volt’s 7.2 kW system makes opportunity charging more worthwhi…

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2019-chevy-silverado-2-7-four-cylinder-23-mpg-fuel-economy/ "The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is the first modern full-size pickup to get a four-cylinder engine option, and now we know how efficient the new mill will be. The all-new 2.7-liter, turbocharged power plant will yield an estimated 20 miles per gallon city, 23 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined in rear-wheel-drive configuration, as paired to a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. Despite its healthy 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque, those fuel-efficiency figures may come across as slightly disappointing to some truck shoppers, as they aren't class-leading…

Just saw pictures of an HHR Panel van (no side rear window) from a study GM did and since its made it to us, I'm 95% sure it'll make it into production. I was never too keen on the original HHR, but this panel van look damn cool. Sorry, can’t take pics.

Ok, I got to thinking (look out!) with all the change- Cruze sedan, which will be bigger than the Cobalt Aveo sedan, which will be very close to the size of the Cobalt Malibu sedan, which is going to shrink a bit- Might it be too many cars in one department?

since we all know that the Colorado/Canyon and especially the Hummer H3 could really use a V6 engine, would it be possible to offer the 3.9L V6 thats used in the impala/Monte carlo in these?? of course it would have to be mounted diffrently, but if they are planning on bringing back the camaro it would probably use the 3.9L as its base engine, so they would need to engineer it for rwd anyways..

FYI: I do not in any way say this is accurate info as I have not seen it anywhere else. This is just for your information and was publised in the April Popular Hot Rodding page 94. So please no wagering! :AH-HA_wink: PHR Factoid: Not So Fast Camaro Breath If you've been saving your cash for a new V8 Camaro you may have to settle for a V6. Due to tighter Fuel Economy Standards and Planned allotment of V-8s in truck , it looks like Chevy will have to limit Camaro V-8 Production in the first year to just 7,500 units. {[Translation : big dealer mark-ups and long waits.] On the good side, Chevy has killed the lo-po V-6 version, making the $25,000 300 HP V-6 the base…

ran into an old friend this weekend This friend works for GM This friend is "claying" the 5th generation Camaro concept for the 2006 NAIAS right now I tried to get info from this friend but was unsuccessful I emailed this friend a picture of what is said to be 85% accurate and received a very bitter phone call in response referencing the kind of trouble this friend would have been in if they were to have opened the attachment at work The picture I emailed can be found here. The very first picture at the top. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...?showtopic=1904

GM's estimate for the 1500 equipped with the new Vortec 6.0 liter and four speed transmission is 15/19. There are no estimates listed for the 2500HD with the six speed transmission. GM boast that the six speed will increase gas mileage, but the only way to purchase a six speed at this time is to buy the 2500HD. The extended cab 2500HD weighs approximately 900 lbs more than the 1500 extended cab. Was wondering what kind of mileage to expect from the HD. Anyone driving a HD2500 yet?

When are they going to stick it in the non Denali trucks? I would buy one tomorrow if i could get a Sierra with the 6sp, 6.2 and a part time 4x4. Come on GM you have it now let me buy it. I read awhile back that the 6.2 would replace the 6.0 but when? Just read that the 6.2 can be purchased in the 2wd Tahoe now.

I did not see this story here yet. Not many details, just a vow of at least 600 Hp and a move up in range and price. Snake Charmer Limited-edition Corvette will jump to 600 hp By RICK KRANZ | Link to Original Article @ Autoweek | Published 02/12/07, 9:11 am et CHICAGO -- If 505 hp is good, can 600 be better? Call it horsepower wars. In summer 2009, Chevrolet will add a limited-edition Corvette producing about 600 hp. General Motors' announcement at the Chicago Auto Show last week follows a vow by GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz after the Chrysler group showed the 600-hp Dodge Viper last month at the Detroit auto show. That vehicle eclipsed the horsepower rati…
