Cadillac
Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

There has been a lot of talk about Cadillac working on a three-row crossover, but no substance to this. That changed this week as spy photos of the three-row crossover, possibly named the XT6 came out. The test mule is heavily camouflaged, but we can pull some details out. The front end looks somewhat similar to the recently launched XT4 with a large grille. Headlights appear to be off-the-shelf projector units - we're expecting different units on the production model. Around back, the tailgate design is similar to the XT5. As Car and Driver pointed out, the XT6's roofline shape is alike to the Chevrolet Traverse. Underpinning the XT6 is expected to be the long-…

Expect them to be on lots in late September of next year. Also, I'm sure many will be happy to know, the transmission is not a Tremec, but rather something that at least the magazines would like better. :AH-HA_wink: Finally, final drive ratio is a bit taller than the old T56.

According to this GM will decide between giving Cadillac a supercar, S-Class fighter, a high priced coupe (Bentley Continental GT or CLS fighter I would assume), or none of the above. Question is, if you had to choose one, which would it be? Personally, I'm voting for an S-Class fighter. I think the rest of Caddy's lineup would benefit from the image boost and a supercar would slightly overlap the XLR. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/12/100k-caddy-a-go-again/ I feel like this should have been posted already, is this being discussed somewhere else?

After 5,000 miles, I do absolutely love this car.....! I even like the looks of the '07 Sport package better than the v-Series....it has larger exhaust pipes, a bigger spoiler, nicer wheels, and a better grille.... A rare bird....only other 6-cylinder/6-speed manual CTS I've seen was in the pages of R&T and C&D.....

Here are three option packages I hope Cadillac will offer on all their products which (I believe) will set them apart from the Japanese and German competition in an uniquely American way. Smart Glass Package -- $3000 (electrically adjustable tint and privacy glass with 99.9% UVA/UVB blocking) World's most advanced automotive glass green house All side windows are acoustic sandwiches (like that you find on a Malibu's front windows) but with a few additional tricks It has three films on the inside of the acoustic sandwich layer. Electrochromic dimming allows the side, moonroof and rear glass to be varied from 5% to 95% tint with a touch of a button or dial Automatic mode…

Since Cadillac has brought in Johan de Nysschen as its new president, the decisions made by him - such as the CT/XT nomenclature and moving some of their staff to New York - have caused many to experience a range of emotions from happiness to outrage. So we don't know how many people are going to feel about de Nysschen's thoughts about Cadillac in the future that he talked with a couple of outlets at the LA Auto Show. First up is Reuters who reports that that de Nysschen sees Cadillac selling a $250,000 luxury sedan, but not anytime soon. "It is too early today for a $250,000 Cadillac. Fifteen years from now, it won't be," said de Nysschen. Next up is Car and Driver wh…

Doing this as a poll would have been tough, so let's go verbal on this one. Best looking: I am stunned by what a good-looking car the DTS has become, with almost all vantage points being very attractive. And, no, it has nothing to do with being older now...I would have loved it as a 22-year old. It's just well done. Worst looking: I think the XLR is hideous. I was at a light behind one a couple of months ago and the table-top deck lid with its ugly squarish lights reminded me of a mid-90s Achieva (remember those?) Other comments: The SUV/wagon (acronym please?) has some nice crisp edges. The CTS has nice proportions, overall, but I don't like how tall the dash f…

The rumors of Cadillac working on a three-row crossover have been running around for the past couple of years, with the most recent coming from Global Cadillac President Robert Ferguson who said the crossover could wear the Escalade nameplate, but a decision hadn't been reached. Wards Auto reports that a decision has been reached; the three-row crossover has been shelved. Sources tell Wards that the proposed Cadillac crossover would compete too closely with the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia. The decision comes late in the development of the next-generation large crossovers which are due out as early as 2016 and will utilize a new Theta/Lambda platform. Cadillac is likely …

Cadillac BLS Wagon: the lowdown What does a fledgling brand like Cadillac do when it needs to expand its range in Europe? Simple. It nabs a compact exec estate from sister firm Saab, swaps the badge and some styling details, and hey presto - the new Caddy BLS Wagon. The small estate will arrive in autumn 2007 costing around £21,500. Although Cadillac is relatively new to the European market, it has never sold a wagon in its 104-year history anywhere in the world. So what's different from the Saab estate? The BLS Wagon has the unmissable Caddy egg-crate grille, more perpendicular headlights, and the upright rear lights that have come to characterise the US brand; you w…

By JENS MEINERS AutoWeek | Published 05/09/06, 8:20 am Cadillac plans to re-enter the coupe segment with a powerfully styled CTS-based two-door, possibly by 2008 as a 2009 model. Cadillac had hoped to keep a lid on the project, which was pushed back because of General Motors’ financial situation. The program has not been officially approved, but work is well under way—and “Bob Lutz really wants it,” sources familiar with the project tell AutoWeek. “The biggest problem for this car is GM has other, more urgent business to take care of right now.” Insiders describe the coupe as a “bold and elegant” design statement. “This car is a new and powerful interpretation of …

Will the new Cadillac CT6 have the rakish, expressive styling of the Elmiraj show car, or will it be a conservative evolution of the luxury brand’s current design language? While those questions will linger probably until the CT6 is unveiled later in 2015, AUTOMOBILE has learned this about the sedan, which uses General Motors’ new Omega full-size rear-wheel-drive platform: It will have an aluminum body. The Cadillac CT6, which will be a bit smaller than a Mercedes-Benz S-Class but larger than the midsize CTS, also will be the first to use an engine, or engines, from GM’s upcoming four-/six-/eight-cylinder family. We have learned that while a CT6 Vsport has been approved …

After spending two years at Infiniti, Johan de Nysschen has stepped down from his position as President and become the president of Cadillac. The news was announced yesterday in a press release by General Motors. In his new role, the 54-year-old will be responsible "for all aspects of Cadillac globally." “Johan brings to our company vast experience in the development and proper execution of luxury automotive brands. With over 20 years in this exact space, especially in the development of the Audi brand, his track record proves he is the perfect executive to lead Cadillac for the long term,” said GM President Dan Ammann. “I have for some time now been impressed by how th…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 27, 2013 Back at the introduction of the 2014 Cadillac CTS at the New York Auto Show in April, Cadillac introduced a new trim called VSport. VSport offers unique styling and performance tweaks to a model. A few months back, Cadillac announced that the XTS would be getting the VSport trim as well. The Detroit News reports that more Cadillacs will be coming with VSport trim. Executives say VSport offers buyers the styling and performance they want without going to a full V model. “In the future you can look to us to expand this idea to additional models, additional vehicle models, and also using the branding for pe…

Cadillac has been a hot topic of late, due to a number of key items such as the appointment of Johan de Nysschen, the nomenclature change, and the move to New York. Speaking with Reuters, Johan de Nysschen spoke about what the future holds for the luxury brand. A key part of de Nysschen's plan for Cadillac is to expand the lineup with the introduction of five to ten models by 2020. One of those models is a range-topping luxury sedan that will go on sale at the end of the decade and likely will be called CT8 or CT9. This model will compete with the likes of long-wheelbase models and has been signed off by him. de Nysschen also talked and hinted at some of the other mode…

Cadillac's sales targets in Europe look doomed Neil Winton: European Perspective Link to Original Article @ DetNews BARCELONA, Spain -- While Cadillac introduces new models into Europe, industry watchers here are busily slashing their sales forecasts for the General Motors luxury brand. And the recent launch here in Spain of three new gas-guzzling leviathans suggests that GM's attempt to sell in Europe's premium sector with Cadillacs, Corvette sports cars and Hummers is more of an attempt to sell a few more cars into niche sectors with high margins, rather than a serious attempt to storm the luxury citadel owned jointly by BMW, Mercedes and Audi. Cadillac's Europea…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 3, 2012 Motor Trend is reporting that a coupe version of the new Cadillac ATS has been put on hold. The reason lies in GM’s stock price dropping like a rock; 30% drop since from its November 2010 initial public offering price. GM hopes by delaying or cancelling projects to save money, that will raise their stock price up. This is where we begin to enter the twilight zone of ATS rumors. For the past year, we’ve been hearing different models of the ATS moving around from going into development, put on the shelf, or being cancelled. Last year, rumors had said the ATS would come in Sedan, Wagon, Coupe, and Conver…

We reported back in April that Cadillac would be releasing a V-Series version of their OPTIQ EV for the coming model year, joining the Cadillac Lyriq-V in the V-series lineup. Today we finally get the details. 519 HP, 3.5-Second Sprint, and NACS Charging While the base Cadillac Optiq already makes 300 horsepower, the OPTIQ-V bumps that up to a robust 519 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque when the car is in Velocity Max mode. That is sufficient to sprint to 60 in just 3.5 seconds. Carrying an 85 kWh battery pack, Cadillac's preliminary range estimate comes in at 275 miles. Naturally, that range would decrease with a lot of Velocity Max driving. For charging, the OPT…

The past few months have seen numerous spy shots of the Cadillac ATS-V come out. While its good to see that GM is working on it, there hasn't anything groundbreaking in that time. What is groundbreaking is getting the first spy shots of the bigger brother, the upcoming CTS-V. Undergoing some cold-weather testing, the CTS-V is wrapped up in some light camouflage, but there are some giveaways letting you know its true intent. The most noticeable item is the grille treatment with vertical bars. Autoblog says that the V-series will likely have different design traits from the standard models. There's also a meaty set of exhaust pipes sticking out. As for power, sources say …

Cadillac released the pricing for the upcoming CT4 sedan for 2020. Ringing up at $33,990 for the base 2.0T RWD model with an 8-speed automatic, the CT4 undercuts the price of the outgoing ATS by a few grand. This makes the CT4 roughly $7,000 cheaper than the same size 3-series or C-Class sedan or just $1k more expensive than a smaller A-Class Sedan. Adding AWD will add about $2,500 to the price. Buyers who want a bit more can opt for the Premium Luxury package with the 2.7-liter Turbo-4 making 309 horsepower and 348 lb.-ft of torque and a 10-speed automatic, brings the price to $38,490, adding AWD to that costs $3,200. No more "Rock and Roll" Cadillac to drop Zeppelin song for new ad campaign By JAMIE LAREAU | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS AutoWeek | Published 07/17/06, 8:33 am et DETROIT -- General Motors is breaking from its "Break Through" Cadillac campaign and dropping Led Zeppelin's song "Rock and Roll" as its soundtrack. Cadillac News: A Replacement for Displacement - Cadillac to Adopt New Engine Numbering Scheme

The saying goes there is no replacement for displacement, but at Cadillac that is no longer the case when it comes to the trunk badges. Starting in 2020 on the XT6, Cadillac will drop the engine displacement badge from their vehicles. Instead, they will use a number that represents torque in newton-meters and rounded up to the next number that ends in 00 or 50. Turbo models will get a T, while V-series models will retain their V in place of the number. For the XT6, that means its 271 lb-ft of torque converts to 373 newton-meters and then gets rounded up to 400. Once the scheme rolls out to other models it could look like this: XT4 2.0T - 350T XT5/XT6 3.6 …

For almost two decades, Cadillac has been undergoing a transformation of sorts to become a threat to likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The various models and changes have been met with mixed reactions. But the latest move to make Cadillac the lead brand in General Motors' electric car offensive marks a big change. It’s my job to make sure we do.” Cadillac previewed their first EV on Sunday night during the pre…

Despite rave reviews, the Cadillac CTS has been slipping in sales. Sales in July slipped 29 percent, while August saw another 35 percent drop. This is a the opposite of what is happening in the luxury marketplace as sales are currently up six percent. A possible cause to this is the base price of the CTS has climbed $6,000 from the previous model. “While it may have been a terrific car, it may not have been perceived as having earned its stripes for that kind of pricing against the Germans. Cadillac has just not earned its way to charge the kind of premium that the Germans can get,” said Michelle Krebs, senior analyst with Autotrader.com. Uwe Ellinghaus, Cadillac's chie…

So I got my C&D today, and the Escalade was in a comparo vs. the Navigator (5th place), Infiniti QX56 (3rd!?! WTF?), Audi Q7 (2nd), and GL450 (1st). Now, it's not that I don't agree with some of the scoring (Escalade got low marks for the second and third row), but some of them are pretty much BS. Somehow it got a lower score on ergonomics than the Audi and MB (the MB tons of tiny buttons, and Audi locates their HVAC units in the worst place ever, as well as having the MMI crap in a terrible place if you're trying to drive), and it's interior design was also scored lower than each. Maybe it's just me, but it looks a lot better than either, IMO (I feel the Audi's is …

GM: Turbocharged four for the CTS? Only if customers want it. Jul 30th 2008 3:58PM Link to topic on Autoblog "We're ready. When (customers) want it (the option of smaller engines) - we'll do it." That's a (somewhat mangled) quote from Thomas G. Stephens, GM's executive veep for global powertrain and quality, speaking at the inauguration of the General's Powertrain Engineering Development Center last Friday. What Stephens is referring to is the possibility of equipping Cadillacs with smaller, turbocharged engines – specifically fitting the 260-hp (or more) 2.0-liter, turbocharged four in the CTS sedan. Sounds like a Hell of an idea, but how – exactly – is GM going …

2007 Cadillac Escalade Bigger, better and blingier. by Paul A. Eisenstein (2006-03-27) Climbing into the new 2007 Cadillac Escalade, I get the feeling that I am seriously underdressed. No gold chains, no diamond stud in my ear. And my raggy jeans definitely would not pass muster on MTV. Ever since the first 'Slade hit the streets, back in 1999, this massive SUV has proven the product of choice among rappers and rock stars. And if the looks we got tooling around San Diego during Caddy's recent preview were any indication, the new '07 model is likely to maintain its image as the king of all bling. To be honest, I never quite understood the appeal of the original Esca…

I stuck this in with Cadillac, tho I tend to shy away from such a 'dismissive' linking, and because I think this is significant enough to keep it public (the Lounge was my 2nd choice). Here are some new vids focusing on the rescued 1955 LaSalle II roadster Motorama show car, internally known as XP-34. This car, tho historically fell thru the cracks and garnered little attention from enthusiasts, was a technological tour de force. One of the most amazing things learnt here is the sheer towering mastery General Motors was regularly exercising in the 1950s, one of it's greatest decades of all time. Usually the term "pushmobile" is an automatic excuse to wave off a car as…

The 0-60 time drops by two-tenths of second to 3.7 seconds. The new 6.2 liter employs a 1.7 liter super charger and adds direct injection and cylinder deactivation, premium fuel is required. Cadillac brags that these power numbers are greater than both the Mercedes-Benz 5.5L bi-turbo V8 and the 4.4L twin-turbo V8 from BMW. Getting all of that power to the ground is an 8-speed …

How would you guys feel if top engine in Cadillac top model wasn't a same engine as the one in Corvette rather it was engine coming from other manufacturer, for example Lotus, or engine made just for Cadillac? Reading about new Lotus models i came across this article "New engine from Lotus". In text there is explanation why there are thinking about their own v8 Bahar also revealed that customer reaction to the new Esprit being powered by a Toyota V8, as was originally planned, was behind the decision. “In the mind of sports-car enthusiasts, Toyota power might not be good enough,” he said. But the final decision on whether Lotus will green light the cash for engine dev…

Europeans love diesel engines. Diesels are more desirable from both a tax standpoint and from a fuel cost standpoint. Diesels are also viewed as technologically superior to petrol engines. In short, regardless of how it is perceived here, diesels sell in Europe. The wreath-less Cadillac badge that debut on the ATS Coupe will soon be appearing on the 2015 ATS Sedan. That's not the only change in store for the ATS sedan for the 2015 model year though. Along with the badge, the 2015 ATS sedan gets some revised sheetmetal in the front to better match the ATS Coupe. On the tech front, the 2015 ATS sedan will get 4G LTE connectivity, text message alert, and a Powermat wireless phone charging dock. Power-wise, the turbo 2.0L four sees an increase of 14 percent for torque. Numbers now stand at 272 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The 2.5 four and 3.6L V6 carry over into 2015. Cadillac's CT6 lineup in the U.S. will be seeing the departure of one its powertrains for 2019. GM Authority is reporting that Cadillac will be canning plug-in hybrid variant for the U.S. "Cadillac remains committed to electrified systems for our vehicles. Although production of the CT6 PLUG-IN for North America is discontinuing for the 2019 model year, alternative fuel vehicles remain a part of our future product portfolio as we move deeper in to our 10-year plan. GM has committed to 20 electric vehicles by 2023, some of which will be Cadillacs," a spokesman told the outlet. This is likely a recent decision, considering the model was listed in GM's VIN decoder …

http://autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?...41/TOC01ARCHIVE DETROIT - General Motors has shown auto dealers fastback coupe and Euro-styled crossover variants of the Cadillac CTS, sources close to Cadillac say. Cadillac General Manager Jim Taylor says developing a broader line of CTS-based vehicles - as BMW does with the 3 series and Mercedes-Benz with the C class - would boost revenue for the vehicle program. But Taylor says GM's board of directors has yet to approve the plan. The restyled and re-engineered 2008 CTS sedan is scheduled to reach dealerships in fall 2007. It's a key part of GM's effort to build on the revival of its luxury brand and attempt to win more c…

Here are a few paragraphs from Dan Neil's review of the Cadillac CTS: My favorite piece of recent movie dialogue comes from the animated tour de force "Ratatouille." The ruthless food critic Anton Ego has just had his heart melted by the little rodent chef at Gusteau's, causing him to reevaluate his work, his purpose: "In many ways the work of a critic is easy," he writes in his column. "We risk very little and enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. . . . But there are times when a critic risks something and that is in the discovery and the defense of the new." So here's a new thought, worthy of defending: Cadillac makes …

GM to put electric Cadillac Converj into production General Motors Co. has decided to produce the Cadillac Converj, an extended-range electric car using the same technology as the Chevrolet Volt, The Detroit News has learned. Cadillac included the Converj, a concept car that wowed industry critics and the public at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, in a presentation made to the automaker's board of directors Nov. 2, according to sources familiar with the production plan. A production date has not been set, and it likely will be a few years before consumers can buy a Converj. A Cadillac spokesman declined comment. Before GM emerged from …

2012 Cadillac SRX gains the LFX July 26th, 2011 Drew Dowdell - CheersandGears.com For 2012 Cadillac is dumping the smooth but overwhelmed 3.0 liter V6 and replacing it with the new LFX 308 horsepower V6 giving it a jump of 43 horsepower over the 2011 model. While the 308 horsepower is a good marketing bump, where consumers will feel the biggest change is in the torque rating. The outgoing 3.0 V6 produced just 223 lb-ft of torque at a lofty 5,100rpm. This meant that the driver would have to keep the engine rev higher even just for regular city driving. Indeed, the lack of torque was noted in our earlier review of the 2011 Cadillac SRX 3.0 and 2.8 Turbo. Cadillac rem…

On GM Media in Europe they had tons of photographs of the new Cadillac CTS-D Estate Wagon with the 2.9L Diesel V6 Turbo and they were sweet. If I got any CTS it would be a CTS Estate Wagon and it prolly would have a Diesel as well but no AWD. Am I the only one drooling over this thing. So is anyone in love with this thing like I am... Of course I would rather have an STS V6 with performance package and Brembo brakes and summer tires or a DTS Performance. But the CTS Estate Wagon is pretty sweet.

For me, ATS. CTS is hot, but there are a few overly exaggerated bits to it. ATS is clean all the way through. Like the XTS but it's too narrow. New Escalade is sharp but a little boxy. ELR is a bit cab forward. ATS is the sweet spot.

As I was reading and drooling over the CTS-V in this months Motor Trend I noticed the sidebar talking about the upcoming coupe and wagon. It said the coupe was ripe for the V treatment and the upcoming wagon could introduce the new clean diesel and they didn't think there would be a CTS-V wagon due to high development costs to low sales volume. After reading about the CTS Wagon, diesel, V, whatever, just add AWD and I'll seriously consider one. I've been on a practical movement lately with my vehicles for some odd reason. I guess it's just me getting old. But hell, I've always loved a wagon that would haul ass, and big torque and good mileage would be the ticket.

Since "Dare Greatly" is the current ad campaign, I thought it would be a good idea for everyone to come up with one thing they dare Cadillac to do. It can be anything, it could be to put the Sixteen intro production, to make a pure EV Tesla fighter, a mid-engine supercar, to changing the naming scheme to introducing a new marketing campaign, or anything you want. But you only get 1 Dare, people can up vote their favorite idea.

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 13, 2013 We know that Cadillac is hard at work on an ATS-V, but no one has been able to nail down what will be under the hood of it. Reports say it could either be a twin-turbo V6, possibly the new TT 3.6 found in the CTS and XTS VSport, or a V8 engine. According to a new report from Automobile, the ATS-V will likely have a twin-turbo V6, but not the 3.6. The report says the twin-turbo V6 will be a 3.2L and will be capable of producing of more than 500 horsepower. This TT 3.2 V6 has a bit of interesting story to it. The engine is based on GMs’ High Feature V6 engine architecture which was supplied to Alfa Romeo …

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 7, 2012 With summer just around the corner, Cadillac decided to announce pricing for the new ATS sedan today. Pricing begins at $33,990 (Includes Destination) for the base 2.5L four-cylinder producing 200 HP and 188 lb-ft of torque. July 23, 2012 Drew Dowdell - Managing Editor CheersandGears.com Cadillac is readying a 2.0 turbo version of their full size XTS sedan model according to a diagram obtained by a CheersandGears.com reader. The diagram, sourced from a U.S. Cadillac dealership parts catalog, shows the 2.0T badging along with the FlexFuel badge we are familiar with from other GM vehicles. When we first saw the diagram, we thought we were looking at evidence of a US bound livery model of the XTS similar to Lincoln’s MKT 2.0 Ecoboost. However, a source inside of GM informed us this was not the case, so do not expect to see the 2.0T version on the road if you live in the U.S. This version…

General Motors has plans to import a second vehicle from China to the U.S. It's not another Buick, but the new Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid. Bloomberg spoke with Cadillac’s chief marketing officer, Uwe Ellinghaus who revealed that the plug-in version would only be built in China. Cadillac has dropped the 2.0T from the CT6 after only a partial year in production. The new base engine is now the 3.6. Also gone is rear wheel drive as all V6 and V8 models of CT6 are built as all-wheel drive. This move raises the base price of the CT6 from $51,490 to $56,490 for the CT6 Luxury with 335 horsepower 3.6 liter V6 and all-wheel drive. The 2.0L Turbo (LSY) was a replacement for the older 2.0T (LTG) that originally debuted with the CT6. It produced 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and was rated for 24 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. The option has already been removed from Cadillac's website. View full article

Autoblog got their hands on pictures of the next SRX, possibly wearing the XT5 nameplate. We can tell this mule is early in the development process due to all of camouflage on it. The XT5 is expected to use a new scalable platform called C1XX (Chi for short). This new platform is expected to underpin a number of cr…

Sat in one today. Let me just say it was a huge turnoff. The dash and center stack area is okay, but everything else was pretty terrible. Seats were awful, both in terms of comfort and leather quality. Button/lever to release seatback to allow access to rear door seemed like it was about to break. OK, the Jaguar XF 5.0 Supercharged got into an accident and I got an ATS 2.5 from Hertz as a loaner until it gets fixed. Here's my impression after a couple of days with it. THE GOOD Cabin appointments are better than the SRX or the Gen II CTS. Tight, nice textures, sharp (HD) displays, very good seat comfort and even the base car's BOSE stereo is very decent. And, for the first time they are not cutting corners and under tucked that headliner between it's edge and the screen! [source: Motortrend] Comparison: 2009 BMW M5 vs 2009 Cadillac CTS-V Mirror, Mirror: The $89,325 Munich Benchmark vs. the $60,700 Motown Doppelganger. Which is the Fairest Supersedan of Them All? FIRST PLACE: Cadillac CTS-V Glitzy exterior and cabin plus some finish issues detract from premium feel, but delivers where it counts. A Corvette ZR1 in four-door attire -- and a bargain to boot. SECOND PLACE: BMW M5 Masterfully executed, but priced accordingly. Handling not on par with BMW's best, though, and V-10 power no match for Caddy's supercharged V-8.

Checked out a real live XTS at a d'ship today. It was locked and had a 21 day on it, I assume it was left on the lot over the weekend to show off. Here is my impression on the design in the real world. Very nice. There is some subtle complexities to the shape and details on this vehicle that come together in person. It is amazing how narrow the car is in actuality, and how tiny the ass end looks from seeing it directly behind. Overall there is really not any element of the exterior I dislike (aside from suggesting that the car looks narrow). It's an evolutionary look, nothing special, but it also has no hood and no deck and to evolve proportions in that regard, and…

First Drive: 2008 Cadillac CTS Born and bred in Detroit; brought to life on the Nurburgring Nordschleife By Angus MacKenzie | Photography by Mark Bramley | Link to Original Article @ Motor Trend You don't want to get it wrong through the Fuchsrohre. This is just one of the places where the legendary Nurburging Nordschleife can bite you. Hard. You come out the Aremberg turn hard in third and plunge 250 feet downhill along a wriggling stretch of track, straight-lining one, two, three, four, five apexes almost as fast as you can count them. You reach the bottom of the hill on the sixth, the car's suspension on full compression as the track veers slightly left. That's not…

As many of us suspected for a while, Cadillac has decided to not go forth with a second-generation ELR plug-in hybrid. "I plan to continue admiring it as one of the most beautiful cars on four wheels. But we don't plan further investment" in the coupe, Cadillac CEO Johan de Nysschen told reporters at a media event for the CT6. de Nysschen went on to say the ELR will still be sold as long as people want to buy it. Previously, Automotive News reported the ELR would stick around till 2018. The ELR was a victim of bad decisions. A key one pointed out by dealers was the starting price of $75,995 caused demand to drop sharply. For the 2016 model year, Cadillac s…
