I've been wanting to start a joke thread, mainly so I can get some really good jokes to use when needed. Link: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=107194 CUPERTINO, Calif. — Apple Computer said it will expand the presence of its iPod portable music player into more new vehicles in the 2006 model year. In an announcement Wednesday, Apple said it has deals with Acura, Audi, Honda and Volkswagen to integrate the iPod into their car stereos in the coming year. Apple previously had a similar agreement with BMW, and said vehicle manufacturers, including Ferrari and Infiniti, soon will offer iPod integration. That makes 15 companies worldwide now offering or planning to offer iPod integration, the computer maker said. It expects more than 5 million vehicles…

Heard this on the radio early this morning. I'll botch it, but you'll get the just of it... This morning, President Bush's advisor came in to tell him news of the deaths of 3 Brazilians. President Bush shakes his head, then puts his head in his hands for a minute. Lifting his head he says, "Wow. That's outrageous. A million, trillion, ... brazilian?! Just how many is that?!" Thought I'd share. It woke me up and I was lmao'ing into school lol

As I've been resting (or restless, depending on one's point of view) since my gallbladder surgery December 30, I've had time to watch some of the Dukes of Hazzard episodes from Seasons 1 & 2. And, while I was watching a couple episodes from Season 2, I noticed this "glaring" peculiarity (among others, of course).... In Episode 14, "The Runaway" (originally aired 01/11/1980), Daisy's yellow car dives over a cliff and explodes after the accelerator gets stuck while Bo and Luke are in it. That same episode, Daisy is given "Dixie", her Jeep, by the father of the runaway gal. Skip ahead 4 episodes to Episode 18, "F…

As you can see I've started you next to the missing children's office (heh.) So you bolt through the Macomb Hall doors and blaze past the Ford trucks, the black Mustang GT on the stand and the black Ford GT on the stand. You get momentarily sidetracked by Jeeps huge rocks and waterfall display. "Ohh purdy" you say. You then snap out of it and cut across the corner of the Chevy display next to the orange HHR and the Hybrid Tahoe that IS there. You can see *it* now and you start crying. You reach the turn table and walk around it once very slowly. You can then see that you are overcome and must run to the bathroom before you soil yourself. On the way back you notice the Hu…

Monochromatic, a form of monochrome, is defined as: Though a form of the word 'chrome' is contained within the word, the word itself does not refer to removing chrome trim from an automobile or exchanging chromed trim pieces for those that are body-colored. That instance is referred to as exchanging chromed trim pieces for those that are body-colored. This is not monochromatic. In fact, it contains many colors. This may be considered to have a monochromatic paint scheme because the exterior paint is only one color, not multi-toned. Thank you.

I think we've had threads like this before, but maybe not on the new forum. Anyways, last night I took out four of my friends on a country road with no one around and we went 132MPH in the GTO before we had to shut it down (stop sign). I could tell a noticealbe difference in acceleration with 600 extra pounds of weight in the car, but it still picked up pretty damn quickly. Somewhat amazingly, the GTO still felt totally under control and stable at that speed. We also did some sweet donuts in a parking lot with plenty of smoke, but that's another story. On a side note, I think I've been at 115+ 4 times now. So, what's the fastest everyone's gone in a vehicle?

I was looking at McDonald's spread across the globe, and noticed this rather strange statement in the article: "No two countries that both had McDonald's had fought a war against each other since each got its McDonald's" Strange coincidence, but why would they say this? Also their choice of when and where to expand seems rather odd. Countries to get McDonalds first: 1. US 2. Canada 3. Costa Rica 4. Japan The UK even was way down the list...

Customer upset over Taco Bell "sauce wisdoms" Tuesday, June 06, 2006 Posted: 08:18 PM Link' WESLACO – One Valley woman says the slogan on Taco Bell’s sauce packets is offensive. As part of Taco Bell’s “Think outside the bun” campaign, the company held a contest last year for slogans to be printed on their sauce packets. Customers submitted their ideas, like “When I grow up I want to be a waterbed” and “You had me at taco”. The one that bothers Jessica Luna says, “Not to be used as a flotation device”. She tells NEWSCHANNEL 5, “Somewhere along their roots here, somebody came across the border from Mexico. Risking their lives to provide a better a life for their…

Hi all. I'm truck shopping. Getting rid of the mini-van now that I need something to better meet the family needs. I've looked at all makes, questioned new owners, examined build-lists, optioned-together glorified "I wish" truck builds, came back to Earth, and started searching for deals. The 2012 clearouts for 0% financing held few to be desired, so I waited... until I saw an ad at the local dealership for an "End of the World Sale" - one day only. They're discounting everything on their lot, including 2013 units. Test drove a 2013 SLE with the 1SB package and a couple add-on options and liked it, but stopped cold when I saw an All Terrain with the Offroad package …

My older 4 MCs made their long-awaited 2007 debut today, June 16. This is the LATEST in the year I've "waited" to get them started. Too bad I'll be waiting a bit longer to drive them. On the positive side, all 4 of them started virtually perfectly. After checking the oil, the battery, tire pressures, etc., they all started just fine. The '76, however, needed a bit of a boost for the battery; actually, I think it will need a new battery sooner rather than later. And, with the '72, I tried to start the car ... before I had hooked up the battery. For a while, we couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start. Then, the guy who owns the garage happened to look at the batte…

There's a movie I saw years ago that I just remembered again after recently having bought Demolition Man, but I have no idea what the name of it is. I'm pretty sure it came out in the 90s sometime, and it's in the vein of Demolition Man where a guy gets sent into the future to track somebody down. I think the movie takes place in a future New York (I remember one fight scene takes place in a futuristic highrise building that dwarfs the Empire State Building). The protagonist in the movie used to be a racing driver before he is sent into the future, and he meets up with his girlfriend from the past. It's not Demolition Man and I'm pretty sure it's not Fifth Element...d…

Ha! I bet I got a lot more to look with the title rather than "Van Comparison test". Well, it is an unconventional test but there isn't much to read on these work horses that help suport our economy(s) more than we give them credit for. Ususally these just get one little instrumented test with one engine, usually the most powerful. Well, they brought us the diesel options for all three of the major players. They excluded the Nissan only because they don't have a diesel option. Well, here ya go! 2015 Ford Transit 150 Power Stroke vs. 2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 BlueTec vs.2014 Ram ProMaster 1500 EcoDiesel "We didn’t drive three full-size modern vans 430 mi…

... a Volvo! The Envoy is "technically" the wife's leased vehicle, but it really was my choice to get it over a too-high monthly lease payment on a GM minivan back in 2005. She liked it for the first year, but she's not really a "truck" person so the last year & a half she's driven the car more. With the lease up in August, we've decided to go back to "his & her" cars. We've been sharing the cars the last few years due to her mileage/commute to work (32 miles one way) and the need to keep leases in the 15k/year range. But I'm tired of fighting over seat & mirror changes (the Envoy does have memory settings that have helped), and she's tired of me picking …

Brent Saba had just dropped a church group off at Philadelphia International Airport on Sunday morning and was heading north on Interstate 95 when it happened: His 15-passenger van ran out of gas. Saba, a 24-year-old church pastor, made it to the shoulder just past the Ben Franklin Bridge and waited more than 30 minutes for someone to stop and lend him a cell phone. Then he waited a while longer for AAA to arrive with fuel. With gas prices hovering at $4 a gallon, motorists like Saba are putting less fuel in their tanks — then coming up empty on the highway. Though national statistics on out-of-gas motorists don't exist, there's plenty of anecdotal evidence that dri…

Yup, the annual Ocean City, MD spring car show extravaganza is taking place tomorrow through Sunday. So I'm heading south tomorrow morning sometime. I don't have hardly any faith in humanity, as it seems like it has gotten impossible for people to drive a car worth a damn... but I've noticed a new trend in drivers' habit, at least in the Phila-NJ-NYC area, that I have so far called the Half-Ass Double Stop. So, how its done... you come to a complete stop at a stop sign, with the intention to make a left turn. You wait... but traffic is heavy in either direction. So you wait until there is nobody coming from your left for a bit and you pull halfway into the intersection. Now you sit... blocking traffic, as you wait until the traffic from the right gives you an opportunity to finish the turn. This is especially ha…

I never knew GM had so many brands between approx. 1929 and 1931. I have known about LaSalle and Oakland for a while, but I had never heard of Marquette or Viking and the reasons they came into existence. So as I understand it: Chevrolet (basic four cylinders, I6, some V8s) Pontiac-Oakland (Oakland the parent company, Pontiac introduced as the entry level brand for the division to fill the spread between Chevrolet and Oakland. Pontiac had a "light six" and shorter wheelbase, while Oakland had a six cylinder?, V8, and longer wheelbase) Oldsmobile-Viking (Viking slightly upmarket from Olds, both equipped with V8s...Viking was the shortest lived of all the brands) Mar…

Gluten free. Saw on the other side of the label, "Virgil's is a superb blend of Spices and Herbs gathered from around the world over; Anise, Licorice, Vanilla (Bourbon), Cinnamon, Clove, Wintergreen, Sweet Birch, Molasses, Nutmeg, Pimento Berry Oil, Balsam Oil and Oil of Cassia. Stole this idea from a blog I read and thought it would be fun for us here. What widely accepted practice, custom or societal norm do you regard as irrational, absurd, offensive, silly, nonsensical, counterproductive, or morally wrong? Here's your chance to challenge the conventional wisdom. Anything that is already a matter of intense controversy, like abortion or the death penalty, doesn't count -- that aside, however, take liberties with the question.

Basically, this is a spinoff of the car spotting thread. Whereas in it, we include the newest vehicles going on sale that we've started to see, here we talk about vehicles that we've only seen a few of over our lifetime. These are posted in the normal car spotting thread, too, but are generally overlooked. And since they can sometimes be interesting, I think they deserve their own thread. My rare cars are a white Triumph TR7, I actually had to look it up when I saw it, I didn't know what it was. I've seen one red Ferrari 360 Modena heading down the historic district here in Lexington. Two Bentley Continental GTs. Domestics would include the last gen Olds Torona…

Looks like it might be car buying time for me again over the summer... I'm a 19 yr old university student though so I don't have a huge budget... I'll probably get something between $4000 and $6500 Canadian... I've been looking around and have seen some decent prices on Cherokees, Impalas, Monte Carlos, Intrigues, Lincolns... etc. How are older Caddy Devilles? I asked a while back about the 89-91ish generation and most people told me to generally avoid them. What about the 94 bodystyle? There are great deals on these to, and they are definitely nice cars... I'm just not sure if they'd be a headache to own or not .

How reliable is an Oldsmobile 88 Royale from 1994? I believe it has the 3.8L. The car has 170,000kms and it is in excellent condition. There is not much rust or any rust at all. My grandparents' friend from church is selling it for about $2000 or so. Yes they are over 60 lol.

Well y'all, its two weeks to go till I'm a dad. Right now the wife is in the hospital being monitored due to her blood pressure being higher than "normal" They're also looking at her urine to make sure she's not leaching protien (which means probably toximia (sp?), if they find an excessive amount, they're going to induce, if not, she'll come home tomorrow and we'll have to wait for the next thing to happen. Right now I'm just at home about to catch some Z's with hopes of going to work tomorrow and having her come home tomorrow night. I'll try to keep everyone on here informed, and if any of you are religious, the prayers wouldn't hurt. But for right now, that's abou…

First time in my university career life that I don't need to go to classes because of this. But by the look of things, there's only a warning, and looking outside the window there's hardly any snow.

I just happened to check a Grand Theft Auto site today, first time in about four months, and there is a new trailer posted of the next GTA, simply titled "IV". Check it out!! It looks like it is set in Liberty City (which now has many realistic-looking New York landmarks like the Empire State Building, MetLife [GetALife] Building, Flatiron Building, and Chrysler Building), but I've heard rumors the next GTA would also take place in Europe...maybe they're hinting at Eastern Europe?

Oh... Where to start? I suppose I'll be blunt. It broke down yet again. This time, with me. As you know, I haven't gotten the miss fixed with my Millenia, so when I want to go out of town, I'll take the Sunfire. That's what I did last night. I basically needed something to do since I wasn't able to take it down to Carlisle. I took it to Dubois to look at cars and hang out with a friend instead. Things were going good for most of the night. Found a few cars to drool over, found some to laugh at, and I found some that I don't see often. Went to Burger King where a friend of mine works and got free food and a free milkshake. Had fun... After that, I head home. I decide…

I found out recently that my best friend from high school and his girlfriend are members of Quixtar, successor to the pyramid-scheme Amway that has been around since the 70s. He first mentioned something to me a couple weeks ago when we were golfing about making money and only having to work a few hours a week by selling things. I was kinda interested because it sounded pretty easy (I assumed it was just some on-line business type of thing) and he told me it was called Quixtar. But something about that name hung in the back of my mind later that evening when I was back home I remembered a guy trying to recruit me to Quixtar when I was a sophomore in college and thin…

Wall Street Journal -- Ford vs. Honda Ford, Honda Cross Paths On Sales of SUVs CR-V Passes the Once-Dominant Explorer July 23, 2007 Deb Nison is a data warehouse developer in Portland, Ore., who likes to go snowboarding on nearby Mt. Hood. Once upon a time, she drove a Chevy TrailBlazer, and later a Subaru Forester. Today, she owns a 2007 Honda CR-V. "I like the way it handles," she says. She appreciates feeling "ridiculously safe" in a vehicle with standard head protecting airbags. And for an SUV, she says, it gets "decent mileage" -- about 23 miles per gallon so far around town. Ms. Nison is just one reason why the Honda CR-V is, as of June 30, America's best-sel…

* This has always been me… http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/04/17/daily-dose-philosophy-fri-13/ …even now, despite all the “character builders” the last 3+ years, including frustration, panic & pain-swelling (feet & left knee). Sometimes I wonder for what I’ve survived 4 open heart surgeries, but maybe someday I’ll know? It could be worse, but wish I was getting cars out for the season, traveling, etc. At least my car family (1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics) is FAR better than it was! Potentially good news: Monday is my initial meeting with a Small Business Development consultant (a bit more on this in a post on my website, Monday, ~7a US central);…

The above photo was snagged from Reddit where the owner installed the side stripes to cover some superficial damage which got me thinking: what would you do if you scratched your MX-5 (not necessarily the new 2016 but any gen)? If you’ve got the time it’d be cool to see what you’d do to cover up a slight scratch. Oh, and please answer even if you don’t have a Mazda, aMiata or even if you don’t have a car at all. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LR6M6HM

http://video.msn.com/v/us/v.htm?g=1fa99fcf...=>1=10357 check out the outfit...S-LUTTTTT i love the double standard in today's society. Women blatantly dress like hos but then something like this happens and they are all 'I'm a victim / i deserve respect". I don't agree with her being asked off the plane, but the fact that she's 'surprised' about this is so fricking hilarious. Women get away with murder these days in terms of what they can wear. I certainly don't mind if they are visually asking me to blatantly look down their shirt or look up their skirt, it's just that no $h! people are going to think of you as nothing but a ho if this is the…

Well I have a confession, when I drive now in the USA, if you own a foreign vehicle that is not badged as GM, I will not let you in my lane if you're trying to get over. Also If you drive a foreign vehicle that is not badged as GM I will not stop to help if you are broken down. Last Friday as I tooled around Spartanburg, SC, I came upon a broken down Tundra on the side of the road, I looked over at the guy, we made eye contact, I felt he wanted me to stop, but I drove on. I stuck to my new rule, no GM badge on your car, no help of any kind from me. I'm torn on this new policy of mine because it goes against my upbringing, I'm interested in what you would do. Would you…

I'm probably about to make two stupid moves before going into college, one of them being me buying a brand-new twenty-one thousand dollar Camaro. Well, chances are I'm going to make another stupid move on top of that. Meet the two cars that qualify for my second mistake. 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, 327 V8: 1967 Pontiac Firebird, 350 V8: The cost of both cars are $4,500. Both cars are roughly in the same shape: mild amounts of rust, the floorboards rotting away to nothing (as you can see in the second-to-last pics in both sets), but I know the Camaro's 327 runs pretty well and could make for a better daily driver during restoratio…

With all the talk about the big cars, rwd, and other stuff-I thought it was time for a bit of a change. As much as I would like a G8 or Camaro and I do love RWD (old school and now)-it is unlikely that I will going to be able to afford one for a while... What is more likely is that I'll be driving a compact...a car that offers good gas milage, and a car that I can afford. And I would love to have one of the cars on my wish list.... I could see an Astra or Vibe in the future...... And am I the only one thinking small? Ocn is shopping between an Astra or a HHR ( SS, LT) Loves his truck-but would like to save some money too..... So I ask-would you consider a sm…

So, I needed to rent a car last min. and almost EVERYBODY in Fresno was sold out. So Hertz had cars (and have earned my future business) but... I ended up with 3 TOYOTA keys that all led me to a graphite gray Camary. It has a 4 banger in it. I CANNOT find a comfortable seating position in it at all. The seat is retarded and the steering wheel when it is pulled all the way out and put in the highest position is still not high enough or far enough out. At night, the whole center stack (including the green plastic surroundings) lights up and is very distracting. I can't ever get the car to go into gear without looking at the stupid jagged shifter. The car has really bad blin…

Well, I'll give you the drama, drama version of it.... Many of you remember back in 2005 when I totaled my first Focus. I was sitting in the road and an 18 wheeler doing 45MPH hit me in the rear. I walked away with sore muscles and not much else. Today, the GF and I were carpooling to school. Luckily, I decided to wait for her and just ride with her instead of taking my own car. We get 300 yards from the entrance to school and BANG!!!! I had a bunch of books that I was going to sell back to the bookstore for cash. I sat them on the airbag on the dash and joked (as I have many times with various things) that if the airbag deployed, I'd be toast. Today we were sitting…

A while back I think I posted a question about the automatic locking feature...basically mine stopped working and I wanted to know why. I never bothered to get it fixed, and lived without it. I was browsing through my owner's manual today and came across information about the headlights. Basically you can program them to stay on for a minute or so after you turn the car off or disable the feature. It got me thinking....I wonder if the automatic locking system is programmable? Sure enough, you can enable or disable it. So I followed the instructions and sure enough they work again. I just don't know how they were disabled in the first place. Oh well, nice to ha…

Story Link By JIM IOVINO Updated 12:54 PM EDT, Thu, Jul 23, 2009 Erik Bonstrom considers himself a safe driver. So imagine his surprise when he was stopped along Route 50 Tuesday evening in Prince George's County, Md., -- for going too slow. "Coming back on Route 50, the speed limit is 55 and I was pulled over by a Maryland State trooper," Bonstrom said. "When I asked him why, he said I was going too slow and issued me an $80 ticket for going 58 in a 65." Bonstrom said he tried to reason with the trooper as passing cars whizzed by. "To me, you are punishing a safe driver and there are many cars that were passing me, and I guess it was just easier to pull me …

Sadly, I attended my last car show for the 2009 calendar year. The All Pontiac Show and Go, sponsored by High Performance Pontiac Magazine and held at Old Bridge Raceway Park in Englishtown (Manalapan), NJ, was originally scheduled for the day before father's day (Saturday) back in June but was rained out, so the car show was heldyesterday (10/25). Attached are some of the Pontiac photos I took...

Walk out to my Torrent this morning (dirt covered) and noticed behind my rear wheel on the bumper a foot long mark from a shopping (or something like it). Hoping it will rub I out I washed the fender, then after washing it, I realize it had actually taken off the paint! Now I guess I am going to turn it into insurance, because it must have happen out X-Mas shopping yesturday, sometimes I really hate people! I try to respect other peoples cars even if it is an Toyota Prius (which I hate) my rule of thumb is treat others cars how you would want yours treated. Piss on me...
