1) Please use office talk. Talk that you would not use around the office, or infront of your boss for that matter, please do not use here on C&G
2) No political talk. There are plenty of forums on the 'net for that. Lets keep C&G free of political talk.

About an hour ago, an F3 tornado touched down in the NW part of Ames. I haven't heard anything on the damage up there, but I got a pic of the tornado as it was going back up into the sky. I'm ok and the Iowa State campus was unaffected. They had to evacuate Jack Trice Stadium because people were there for the ISU - Colorado game. We never get tornadoes in November!

Hey guys, long time no post, but I was reading this article and wanted to share it. I know how some people on here like to talk and a lot of the time its pretty enlightening stuff. But my upbringing was pretty politically oriented in the sense that stubborn Irish Catholics love to fight with eachother over anything after a few rounds, and in Massachusetts its usually politics. But Bobby Kennedy wasn't even a Massachusetts liberal, he was pretty much the first and the last of an age of reform in the sense that he was supposed to start a revolution, or atleast be the first of a new line of leaders as visionary as he was. He was before my time, but I think we all want a …

I have been thinking about this. I have hung on to a lot of friends across time and miles despite career changes and moves. Some are worth hanging on to. I have also thought about some friends (both male and female) who turned out to be either plain idiots or self-centered. The male friends I can think of that I have parted ways with were based on the fact that they wanted me to: (1) bail them out of something financially, or (2) they got married and this made the friendship go south in a hurry because their wives evidently set their social calendar. The female friends I can think of that I have parted ways with either: (1) liked me more than I liked them and wan…

Let me also say, that, if I had hit the power lines going 30 MPH rather than 25 (the speed limit down the particular road I was traveling), I wouldn't even be typing this right now. The force of the hit of my truck was enough to almost snap the pole supporting the lines in two and knock the transformer off of its mountings (only two wires were holding it in place). Totalled. What happened? I can't really say for sure. I just know I came upon a surprise curve and tried to keep myself on the road by slowing down and (perhaps stupidly) downshiftin…

I was listening to my iPod at the time and did not hear the audible warning that the tailgate was closing. I only realized it was closing when I felt it hit by rear end, stop, and then raise back up. I'll miss the wagon..... The Cav wagon sold today...it looks like she should have a good home. I sold it to a disabled Vet for a few hundred bucks...and he was thankful for the deal. (So he could make his appointments) He plans to fix her up and drive her locally...so I might see it once in a while... For all the negative vibes the J bodies get, it was always a dependable car for me.... Now I want another wagon.....and I don't know why....

A friend of mine was talking about an 83 year old man who shot and killed another man over a property dispute. He quipped at the end, "How do we know that wasn't just the last thing on his bucket list?" That got me thinking about making up my own bucket list, which is quite the morbid thought at 24. This is all I could ceom up with. --Have sex in zero-gravity

  74. Okay experts, I need some advice for a senior student who is about to get their driver's license and came to me for advice on purchasing a used car. They are looking at a local small-time (very small I should say, they have 10 cars in their inventory) used-car dealership's inventory of two used Saturn vehicles: 1998 SL2 Sedan: Info: 4-cyl, auto, ps, pb, air, 120,435 miles, VIN WZ258740 - $2,699 1995 SL2 Sedan: Info: 4-cyl, auto, ps, pb, air, 96,205 miles, VIN SZ354921 - $2,699 Which of the two cars would you advise them to seriously look into purchasing? The student wants a Saturn, as they have friends that own Saturn cars and they're very satisfied ow…

We are all thinking about you Paulie.

Does the seller need to be present at a notary to transfer the title or does he just need to sign the title and hand it over? Reason for asking is, that is what someone with a NY registered vehicle that I'm looking into is telling me. I don't want any complications.

  80. MONTPELIER, Vt. - Vermont on Tuesday became the fourth state to legalize gay marriage — and the first to do so with a legislature's vote. The House recorded a dramatic 100-49 vote — the minimum needed — to override Gov. Jim Douglas' veto. Its vote followed a much easier override vote in the Senate, which rebuffed the Republican governor with a vote of 23-5. Vermont was the first state to legalize civil unions for same-sex couples and joins Connecticut, Massachusetts and Iowa in giving gays the right to marry. Their approval of gay marriage came from the courts. Tuesday morning's legislative action came less than a day after Douglas issued a veto message saying the b…

From the domestic automakers good journalist friend........yup you guessed it: Christine Tierney! Sales of import brands rose sharply in the first half of August as Detroit automakers ran out of new car and truck supplies after extending generous employee-style discounts to all buyers. General Motors Corp., which initiated the employee discount plan in June, saw its share of the U.S. market drop from 29 percent in July to below 25 percent in the first two weeks of August, according to online auto research site Edmunds.com. Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Corp., which matched GM's plan in July, fared slightly better in the first half of August while Japanese…

I've got an issue going on at work. Our receptionist who has NO life has, for the 3rd time, opened my mail. Sometimes, I have stuff sent to the office (care of) because I don't want to run to the UPS or FedEx station when I can't be reached at home during the day. The first time it was a private letter from an attorney. (She once opened this lady's divorce papers from an attorney that were sent to the office). The second time was a locker bag I had ordered on line. (It was obvious it was luggage I ordered). The third time was last week when school books arrived from Barnes and Noble for which I don't want people to know I am taking classes at night. She has 2 di…

Picture your self now driving in a 94 Silverado with a 350 going down a curvy road at about 55mph your exhaust gets really loud and it sounds sweet. Then a Exhaust mount breaks and sparks start flying out from out of the back of your car. About 2 seconds later it rips off and barrels down the road. The guy following you sees that a exhaust is coming towards him and he swerves out of the way then drives into the ditch. I think "Oh F*ck" shut my lights off and floor it. I park my car at my work place since it was down the road and drive back with the Beater ghetto work truck. It took less than 15 minutes to do this. I pull over as the "good samaritan" and Ask "what happened…
