I was wondering if I should go ahead into looking at a 1986 Pontiac Fiero 2M4 that is for sale in Orangeville. I spotted it on Craigslist. The car is an 86 w/ 80,000 kms. It needs a front bumper, brake work, and a new battery. What do you guys think? Are these cars potential problems. I have heard of many breaking down frequently. Would this be worth it ot just be a money pit? I dont think I would want to drive this in the winter so that is something that would turn me away. What do you think?

when will the "other guys" start using this standard for engine ratings, and do you think that it would have any effect on what buyers would look for....an SAE rated car vs. and non SAE rated car? one more condition on that, since GM is the only one doing it, (right now, right?) how will it effect things after a few more brands use this standard. one way this could be usefull is if you the powercurves on the performance models and over lay them with the competitions power curves. this make sense? sorry if it doesn't.

Okay, so this is going to be a somewhat smaller pool to draw from, but I thought this one would really make people explore and maybe uncover some previously unknown gems. I hope everyone enjoys it. Rules- 1) Production vehicles only. 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These are your only cars. 4) Vehicles MUST be a cylinder count previously not featured, or some other form of ICE. Ie- 3 cyl, 5 cyl, 16, cyl, rotary, etc. 5) Maximum of 5 choices, but you can expand beyond your top 5 to 10 if you wish. 6) No hybrids. Fully gas engines.

After 10 years w/ two vintage Mercedes, my sister decided this week that she'd had enough of the money pits and decided to she wanted something newer and more reliable for the 50 mile per day commute (been working locally for a while instead of out of town). Working cold air conditioning was a top priority w/ today being the first 100 degree day of the season. So this is now in the driveway..I ran the car fax, it came up clean. But, somehow, it's happened. I hit a black bear. Literally right outside of Dubois, barely beyond a residential area. Most unexpected incident of my life. Hit it hard enough to completely disable the vehicle. It wouldn't start or turn over afterwards. Now I just need Allstate to hurry the hell up and send an adjuster.

What is so cool about riding around in your base model with no wheel covers? I am still seeing a lot of cars riding on black steelies. What is the purpose of it? Why is it cool? They're keeping those black steelies clean as a whistle, too. I was thinking maybe it is a drag racing thing, where the racing tires are mounted on steelies, so maybe it's supposed to make that Cavalier/Focus/Jetta/Cobalt/ION/xB etc look like a RACE CAR. Can someone enlighten me? And when are the OEMs going to jump on this? Make those plastic wheel covers an option, since so many come off immediately anyway.

I think I've finally succeded in making a definitive list of my next car (yeah, right). It's down to these four: 1. 2001+ Volvo S60 (2.4T or T5 likely) 2. 2004+ Pontiac Grand Prix (GT or GTP) 3. 2000-2003 Nissan Maxima 4. 2002-2006 Nissan Altima (3.5SE or SE-R) The common thing for me in all of these cars is liking the looks, sounds, and powertrains (of the above-mentioned versions) of all of these. These can all be had for around the same price (maybe not the SE-R or T5). So if you were in my shoes, which would you choose. Please be as objective as you can.

So i was at my Grandmas house in northern Montana and of course its rural so my dad usually takes us out to drive. Since Camino LS6 asked, I thought I'd share with everyone some pics (14 total, plus 2 extra) of my family's muscle cars. The first post is for the blue 1969 Barracuda, the 2nd post will be the orange 1979 `Cuda, and the last two are msic images. Enjoy! Very little rust on this car at all. I have a friend who had surgery on his shoulder recently. He won't be able to work for 8 weeks while he recuperates. For those of you that don't know, I'm going to attend Kettering University in Flint, MI for 4.5-5 years to major in Mechanical Engineering starting the 2006-2007 school year. In an attempt to actually start saving my money, I have been looking at a few online saving banks since they have much higher interest rates than what the traditional "brick-and-mortar" banks offer even on CDs. I've been looking at ING, Emigrant Direct and HSBC (which is currently offering a 6% APY on new accounts). Needless to say, HSBC is looking the best to me right now. Is anyone else using these? Any others and/or pros and cons I should know about?

With Toyota annpuncing it will lose money in 2009, Honda canceling the NSX, I was wondering if Toyota is still moving forward with the Supra and what ever super car was destined for Lexus? Just wondering because the C6 Corvette will soldier on until about 2012, maybe 2014 and I was wondering what competition from Japan, Inc (excluding the Nissan GTR which is here) it will have to compete against? ...but members and their bikes too! I was biking home after an exam... This guy in a blue Corolla came from the back, heavily accelerating to overtake two bikes behind me, and missed me by an inch. But I was knocked into a curb and fell off my bike onto the sidewalk. And this was UW Ring Road, with a speed limit of 20km/h. He was more like going 50. Add 2 scratches + 2 blood injuries for me...

And yes, I know I skipped the 4.something class. That was intentional. Sorry I did not get all the details, but I saw on Autoblog.com. Thje SVT division is getting the plug pulled. I wonder where this will go for Fords performance future? The Ford GT dies in 07 and little has been said about a replacment. Also Ford really has said little on performance models outside the Shelby. Will they farm them out to an outside companies to develope and save money? Much of the Ford GT was done by Roush and Salaeen.

So, the other night I drove my 98 Buick LeSabre (about 92,000 miles on the clock) about 23 miles home and the car was running perfectly. I pulled it into the drive way and parked it. Next morning it didn't start, turned over but no fire. So I call AAA and have them tow it to a close dealership within my free towing circle. I bought a PS3. I've had the urge to lately, but wanted to wait until GT5 was finally released. Yesterday, I decided to act upon this urge and purchased one along with the game 'Fallout 3'. Yep, getting close to that time... At the moment I am working on rebuilding/ updating my two chevys (Cavalier and Cobalt), as the goal here is to run them until it's time to send them to the yard..Both still run quite well, so until the rust gets real bad (figure the cavalier has maybe 1-2 years left)-drive them we shall..... So here I am with my girlfriend in Wichita, KS for the summer. In May I flew down here, on August 20th, we're gonna driver her car back to Massachusetts. Her car is a 1994 Geo Prism, 1.6, with a 5-speed manual and 164K miles on it. I resigned from one a couple of months ago. I worked there for almost 3 years. The first 2 years were fine, but one day in early 2006, 6 people (the most promising employees) out of 40 quit and started their own firm. I just wanted to see if, in addition to all the car geeks, we have Star Trek geeks too? I've always kinda thought about my vehicles as classes of ships from the series. I just wondered if any of you Star Trek (or other Sci Fi series) thought about it in the same way. Like my Toronado is a Constitution Class - Old and out of date, requires a bit of tinkering down in engineering to keep running right, not particularly fast, but be good to her and she'll always get you home. How much do you think we could get out of the Sunfire? To refresh your memories, it's a dark blue 2002 GT with the Twincam and a 5spd. It includes a sunroof, power locks, and the 400 watt Monsoon sound system. It has just over 100k miles at the moment, up from 84k when we bought it. I think the reservations folks must get a kick out of me. I have hub and spoke maps of airline routes in my head, so I suggest what the routing options might be when availability is tight. Hey guys been a long time since I've posted on the forums so I'd figured I'd give a good return asking for some advice on a piece of Chevrolet history. I have the opportunity to buy a 1965 Chevy Impala SS 283 Convertible. Current owner is the 2nd owner and has owned it since the early 1980s.
